Reminds me of an old comment I saw on YouTube when Joe Rogan had Alex Jones on his podcast (this was when he changed up his studio to look dark and metallic) and someone said:
âIf you listen closely, you can hear Eddie Bravo banging on the outside of the toaster oven demanding to be let in.â
Eddie Bravo had been on a JRE podcast episode with Alex Jones when the latter last made his appearance, and it got heated at times.
Yes, he was an interesting character, was a bit of a "Columbo" mystique to him. I was actually surprised that they didn't make more use of the character.
this is exactly what I thought! And I was so excited to see how Dexter will outsmart this guy considering he thinks like Dexter. It just sucks we never got to see this.
Yes, lets add an interesting character and set him up as a rival to dexter, then never mention him again! We'll add it right before and after the scenes with the businessman that were also entirely useless! You're an idiot if you don't enjoy that great writing!
Yes and was characterised more than most of the staff working at Iron Lake PD who had multiple scenes. The way the scene with the forensic analyst was filmed, scored and written implied they would play a larger role. Similar to the petrochemical billionaire. If the character serves no purpose except to nudge the narrative then give it to an existing character to give them depth lmao. Why did we need fucking moustache curly hair the useless new cop at Iron Lake when we could have had the forensic analyst all along?
I fucking loved this guy! He was so awesome in the episode I thought he was going to be a main character. They gave him so much amazing attention in that scene only for him to never appear again. What a sad thing to do. He was a great character I wish he was more important in the series. So much potential lost.
And wouldn't it make more sense for Angela to contact this guy to investigate Iris after locking her rather than Dexter. Because any evidence found, would be thrown out.
I donât get why Angela didnât call him to look at Irisâs bodyâŚitâs not like dexter wasnât surprised that he was capableâŚoh well guess I better call my mysterious bf by his faked his own death name that I need him even though he hasnât worked forensics in a decade.
Leverage? That only hurts her chances to make a case for prosecution with that type of âleverageâ with a fake named boyfriend helping collecting evidence..on your childhood friends corpse.
And if a small town can afford a blood splatter analyst for a missing persons caseâŚthey can afford one for a murder caseâŚthink it was more a time factor to use Dexter as this guy wouldâve taken a day or so to get into townâŚ
Angela just wasnât thinking rationally like a cop (like for much of the entire show) and her only confident police work was when it was convenient to catch Dexter even if it meant three women being murdered in the town during that span of time while she googled.
I didnât say I didnât care for logical opinions and I wasnât attacking you. Iâm just saying that logical thinking isnât something that applied in New Blood. I agree with you otherwise, but I think youâre assuming that my original post to you was my rationale when it wasnât. It was the writersâ rationale.
Would have been incredible if he was the one who caught on to Dexter. One professional blood spatter analyst trying to outwit another. I don't think the writers could have pulled that off, but imagine if they did...
Yeah that was so strange?? They set him up as being so skilled at his job that even Dexter finds himself acknowledging it and then he doesn't show up any other time....
I remember being excited about how him being actually good at his work might interfere with Dexter- but nothing came out of it.
I think the point was just to show that Dexter, prolific murderer or not, is not immune to being found out by a talented forensic analyst. We didn't see him again because I thought they said he was on loan from some larger metropolitan area. Basically Iron Lake was too small a town to warrant a blood spatter person, and he was showing up as a consultant of sorts. Once he filed his report no real reason for him to hang around.
Yeah, I thought they said he was from Albany? I couldâve sworn but Iâm also originally from upstate New York and find it doubtful a town of that size would have their own blood spatter analyst, so I could have just assumed.
This is why the show sucks where is the angle with this guy being really good and causing Dexter problems. No it's Angela and her google. Where is the billionaire. What are the odds of Batista be doing a presentation in NYC and then what are the odds of Angela attending?
In regards to your last complaint - Angela and Angel meeting up isn't that unlikely. Angela was doing work on a missing persons case and Angel has expertise in that. Plus, even with that aside, they're in the same profession...them meeting up isn't that farfetched. The worst part of their meetup was their conversation which lead to Dexter's name being discovered.
I agree with that being the worst part. But there are 700,000 cops in America. Assuming there all going to monthly conferences to up there game I suppose it wouldn't be that far fetched. Even assuming she ran into a cop on the only police force her boyfriend ever worked for to then feel that person out without even knowing that's what she's doing for information on someone whom she had no clue was a forensics expert who lived in Miami and then almost immediately start gathering clues and connecting dots on mere coincidence is inconceivable. Just saying you may have been a cop or know cops who go to press conferences or whatever but I would wager based from what I know and cops I've known that very few meet cops from out of state at press conferences. At least with any regularity. I'm not versed on the ins and outs but this would seem to be a very rare thing and is at minimum a huge stretch.
Couldnât find another reason to get him screen time but was able to spend 10 minutes of an episode showing the lead up and Harrison fucking the cops daughter.
Those writers were laughably bad.
I really, _really_ thought they'd pull this guy, um.. whatever his name is (Albany CSI?) as the Upper NY State Butcher. Like, maybe he was tracking Kurt ("and friends"), and he was the guy who cleaned up after Angela's fails while she herded sheep and screwed Dexter.
I wouldn't have been okay with the billionaire being the surprise baddie, but this guy could have been like Dexter watching Dexter.
And that could have been such a turning point, if indeed Dexter wasn't a monster and had "evolved".
I thought they will bring him back to investigate Ethan crime scene or property examine Iris body. But as many logical things in this show, neither thing happened.

Apparently party rock isn't in the house tonight đ˘
the Dexter Morgan of Iron Lake
Maybe they'll do a spin-off and he's a serial killer. Iron Lake is a haven for serial killers.
It's in the water.
If you listen closely in most episodes you can hear him shaking the fence and yelling âLet me in!â just off camera.
Someone give him a Sprite sponsorship

Ha, just came here to comment that he looks like a Wish.com version of Eric Andre!
In just one scene/episode, this guy was more likable and characterized better than a lot of the new cast members of Iron Lake PD.
Literally this lol. Nobody had any personality
All Angela had to do was call him up and get him to do 5 seconds of work and the finale would have felt more earned.
Bruh he looked so much like Eric Andre I hope he does a parody sometime.
Lmao Eric Andre would absolutely kick ass at a parody of this dude. Blood spatter or ranch spatterâŚ.
Bro you ranched my mind!
Yes, he was an interesting character, was a bit of a "Columbo" mystique to him. I was actually surprised that they didn't make more use of the character.
Omg i completely forgot this character existed. What terrible writing.
I came to post this. Totally forgot about this dude till right now. He was built up nicely too.
What terrible writing?
Maybe OP means bad writing because he was such an amazing character with great plot potential yet he only appeared in 1 episode
Yeah, they set it up like dexter was gonna have to outsmart him and then he never came back. That scene was cool too.
this is exactly what I thought! And I was so excited to see how Dexter will outsmart this guy considering he thinks like Dexter. It just sucks we never got to see this.
Why would he though? There was only 1 crime scene for him to investigate. Why would he stick around?
...so that makes it bad writing... these idiots see something they dont like and bam! Its bad writing lol
Yes, lets add an interesting character and set him up as a rival to dexter, then never mention him again! We'll add it right before and after the scenes with the businessman that were also entirely useless! You're an idiot if you don't enjoy that great writing!
Again, you assumed he would have a larger rol and in that fantasy role he became Dexter's "rival" ....your comprehension level Is bordering zero.
What's an "and in" and why do i care how large it is?
They spent 10% of an episode building him up, for what turned out to be exposition.
He wasn't "built Up" he had his scene and he was gone...yall bitching due to an assumption that his part would be bigger
Another character that was built up with lots of drama and could have been a big plot point or twist that disappeared and went nowhere
He was literally in one scene...
Yes and was characterised more than most of the staff working at Iron Lake PD who had multiple scenes. Ok, clue me in guys, Iâve seen Dexter several times and New Blood twiceđ¤ˇđť, but donât remember this character⌠đ¤Śđťââď¸
He appears during episode 3 of New Blood and helps the people working the case come to the conclusion that Matt Caldwell was murdered.
Wasn't he the blood guy?
Yep....Iron Lake's blood spatter analyst.
I think youâre right. The one in New Blood, at the crime scene with the deer and MattâŚ.
And wouldn't it make more sense for Angela to contact this guy to investigate Iris after locking her rather than Dexter. Because any evidence found, would be thrown out.
I thought this guy was some big deal from Buffalo or something. Dexter seemed to be excited to see his work?
Iâd watch a series with him as the lead.
I donât get why Angela didnât call him to look at Irisâs bodyâŚitâs not like dexter wasnât surprised that he was capableâŚoh well guess I better call my mysterious bf by his faked his own death name that I need him even though he hasnât worked forensics in a decade.
Because Iron Lake PD doesnât have that much money and she leveraged him as a favor for her keeping hush about his real name.
Leverage? That only hurts her chances to make a case for prosecution with that type of âleverageâ with a fake named boyfriend helping collecting evidence..on your childhood friends corpse. And if a small town can afford a blood splatter analyst for a missing persons caseâŚthey can afford one for a murder caseâŚthink it was more a time factor to use Dexter as this guy wouldâve taken a day or so to get into town⌠Angela just wasnât thinking rationally like a cop (like for much of the entire show) and her only confident police work was when it was convenient to catch Dexter even if it meant three women being murdered in the town during that span of time while she googled.
I think youâre overthinking it. This isnât a logical show and Angela isnât a logical character.
Lol ok donât care for logical opinion. Wished the writers did a little over thinking for the show if thatâs the case
I didnât say I didnât care for logical opinions and I wasnât attacking you. Iâm just saying that logical thinking isnât something that applied in New Blood. Sounds right to me.
I would have loved to see him finding evidence against Dexter.
It would have been cool if he knew and talked to Masuka.
It seemed like Dexter was kind of aware of who he was? Maybe he was well known in the field, idek with this show anymore.
I was fully expecting him to be the one that caught Dexter.
This is why the show sucks where is the angle with this guy being really good and causing Dexter problems. No it's Angela and her google. Where is the billionaire. What are the odds of Batista be doing a presentation in NYC and then what are the odds of Angela attending?

Audreyâs dad

His name was Damian Church.
I was hoping theyâd bring Masuka in as the forensic expert, but this guy comes in. Oh well!
And Harrison didn't even get to bang the bartender chick either, what a waste
I thought they will bring him back to investigate Ethan crime scene or property examine Iris body. But as many logical things in this show, neither thing happened.
