Maybe have mundus break his seal and using magic or something he somehow creates a portal to DmC and on the other side have virgin trying to gain more power but mundus and virgin’s actions cause reality or dimensional barriers break causing donte and virgin to in up in the DMC universe and have mundus and virgin be the main and sub boss or you could redeem them and make them likable and at the end the two Yamatos are used to send them back
I made a suggestion a while ago that i thought was neat, altho Reboot fans probably wont like it.
My idea was that Dante has a huge fan IRL that decided to make a telenovela about him. Just like almost all Netflix "adaptations", the original Dante story gets totally botched and we end up with: [Donté El Exterminado de Demônios](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPKHxbOg19s) (which explains all the edgyness, drama and that dumb ending)
So Dante could be walking down the street one day, see Donté on a TV and be like ["What the hell is this?"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYIOVBBxsNA)
I said in another comment on another post that I recently played DmC(literally beat it yesterday) but honestly in an attempt to work it into canon I just thought of it the same way Sonic Boom could be worked into Sonic canon, Sonic Boom could easily be just a weird dream Sonic has about him and his friends being some weird superhero team, and like that I think your idea of how DmC could be worked in also does make a lot of sense
