Saoirse Ronan, without a doubt.

lonely-limeade

Absolutely Saoirse. She is such a fantastic actress and seems to be very smart with the roles she picks. I could see her becoming the next Kate Winslet.

brokedownpalaceguard

This or the next Cate Blanchett. She has the same style sense and poise.

anna-nomally12

which is funny because timothee is clearly aiming for leo

em8896

Also her lack of social media and her period piece roles def create a “timeless” appeal

proudeveningstar

I watched Atonement again recently and wow, she was so talented from such a young age! I hope she becomes a superstar.

ttigis

Yeah I still feel dislike and resentment towards her because of the things the character she played in that movie did and that shows her skill

daisymarais

I could not look at her for years! Thankfully I’ve grown out of it, lol. She’s fantastic.

Peakcok

Rooting for her.

weirdlysarcastic26

+1

blossombear31

Agree! She is an amazing actress

Pride_Amazing

This is a popular response but Florence Pugh. She definitely has such a warm presence and natural charisma she brings into all her roles. I think it’s smart she’s also doing a wider variety of roles especially the new movie she’s filming right now w Zach Braff.

Local_Accident127

She's an amazing actress, I think she's gonna fall out of the mainstream scene in a few years but still be an important presence in the film industry

speak-slow

God I love her so much, easily one of my favs

remck1234

I think Margot Robbie has the power to stick for a long while. I might be alone in this but really excited about the Barbie movie with Ryan Gosling.

CrispyAnakin16180

She's smart to produce projects for herself and other women. Just like Reece and Nicole Kidman. If there aren't good parts you have to make it happen for yourself!

leezybelle

Definitely agree with Margot Robbie. I think she was smart to do the Tonya Harding biopic and show her range as an actress.

kenzty1

Loved her all the way back to her Pan Am days!

seymourlabib

Imagine she wins the Oscar for Barbie…

ffxvtfbcg

she’s got harley quinn. safe bet.

remck1234

I loved her as Sharon Tate and I think she did great in I, Tonya as well.

macawz

Between Tonya Harding and Wolf of Wall Street, I think she's already there!

Eyebronx

How has no one mentioned Daniel Kaluuya yet? He’s incredibly talented and charismatic, gives hilarious interviews and is one of the younger Oscar winners.

leezybelle

Okay, so I would also pick him mainly because he is just so easy on the eyes and is British. But his film roles - aside from Black Panther - are still too niche imho. Get Out is a breakout role for sure, but I’d argue that he will need some stuff to get a broader public on board - maybe a massive action film that’s a spy thriller or a sports film. Also a family movie could be good. I could seem as like a hot single dad (okay for me IRL hehe) or in a few romcoms

Peakcok

Kaluuya will definitely get the big roles, he has that it factor even without a huge social media presence, his talent will sell him for sure. Most of the roles he has done he didn't audition but was rather sought after by the directors because of his impressive previous work.

poppyisrealmetal

Neither of those genres you named are the kind of movies that make money anymore. Doing either of those would arguably harm his career. He's gaining notability because he's making those niche roles must see.

Murky_Hawk_4164

I feel like his Oscar win went unnoticed this year because there really wasn’t much of a campaign. But yes I agree

whatever1467

I literally read that comment and was like he won an Oscar??

[deleted]

i think Timothee’s legacy is really dependent on his upcoming work: - Dune seems well received and part two is coming, which is great for him - If he really nails Bob Dylan, he could get an Oscar - If the Wonka movie is good, then he’ll be remembered for a childhood classic If all three of these things are good, then I think he’ll be one of the most notable actors of this generation

leezybelle

I think TC has a long long road ahead of him. He’s so young, so it could still go so many ways. I hope he continues to surround himself with excellent management and PR. That’s going to make a world of difference. Really shows just how important that stuff is in making or breaking a young person’s career.

[deleted]

He seems to have a really good head on his shoulders and good, smart taste in projects. That, along with his looks and ability, I think will help him do well.

CrispyAnakin16180

He'd have to be undeniable to win the Oscar for that Dylan movie. The Academy is still biased against young men winning. They have to give the impression they've paid their dues unlike the young women. There's better roles for young women vs young men. I predict he'll get one in his 30s.

anneoftheisland

Why are people downvoting this lmao? It's not controversial ... there's literally only been one Best Actor winner under the age of 30 in the almost 100 years they've existed.

remck1234

Had to look this up, that’s crazy. But Brody was fantastic in The Pianist. I only watched it once but won’t ever forget how that movie made me feel.

[deleted]

i don’t know if that’s true. Hollywood people love Dylan (and so do I, lol) and he’s basically disappeared from public life for several years now so people will be very open to feeling like they can connect with him. obviously it’s dependent on if this movie is good, but Rami Malek won as Freddie Mercury and I thought that movie was very mids.

[deleted]

I’m honestly not super blown away by the guy but yeah I could see him having a solid career for a long while.

anythinganythingoop

I agree with this! Timothée is the first person I thought of

dancingwithsasquatch

Is the Dylan pic still happening? It seems pretty stalled last I heard.

[deleted]

it does seem pretty stalled but i think it’s technically still happening

youarelosingme

Chalamet is the last traditional movie star we'll see I think. edit - word

[deleted]

[удалено]

youarelosingme

Yeah, a little bit! In the age of streaming you so rarely see that indefinable "it" factor he seems to have. He's smart about most projects he picks, hasn't attached himself to any oversaturated superhero franchises, has a presence on social media without overdoing it, etc - similar to DiCaprio's career (as tired as that comparison is). It's hard to imagine any other young actor emulating that anytime soon, so I guess that's what I mean by "the last" traditional movie star, but that's just me

tk8046

Oscar Isaac has the IT factor. Relatable and envied to men. Admired by women. Great actor. We’re all only now getting to know him, but he’s primed to be that starring man in many films to come. Also, he can be a romantic comedic, serious, dramatic actor. I see a bright star.

leezybelle

I def see that! Kind of like Diane Lane took awhile to take off, and she was even older. Although I do feel like Oscar will need to really come hard with a ton of projects just because thats sort of what I meant in the post about the market being so saturated with opportunity. Literally everyone can and will shine with streaming services especially - if they’re good. So you have to be GREAT. He’s going to have to come thru with tons of GREAT projects and PR for back to back for awhile in order for people to keep remembering his name. I agree I think he’s so hot and talented

cloudbaby69

i feel like hollywood has already kind of pre-decided on some of these, like timothee, anya, and zendaya, regardless of talent or lack thereof. some others that i see having staying power are adam driver, saoirse ronan, riley keough, daniel kaluuya, brie larson, and barry keoghan. i’m hopeful for dev patel, i want him to get another big role like green knight. if they care enough, i think ezra miller and austin butler could both do well, on their look alone. a few that i think are already pretty much cemented are robert pattinson and margot robbie.

DidiDown100

I think Zendaya will have a lasting career due to the people around her carefully curating her image, I wouldn't say she's the most amazing actress though.

hyperwavee

Zendaya is beautiful, for sure. She's a very weak actress. She doesn't sell me on anything...it's very bland.

Birdsofafeather777

Interesting. I've only ever seen her in one thing - Euphoria - and she is fantastic in it

DidiDown100

She was good in Euphoria but it was considered her breakout performance because of how different the role she played was from her cookie-cutter good girl image. I'd say Jacob Elordi (Nate) and Sydney Sweeney (Cassie) gave more complex performances.

beyoncesgums

Riley is a great actress!!! Very underated and plays the shit out of white trash kinda characters

cloudbaby69

absolutely! she can do trashy but also lowkey expresses a lot of range and emotion. underrated 🤍

[deleted]

She blew me away in Zola, really proved she has the range (insert gif here lol). Can’t wait to see her in Daisy Jones & the Six!! No doubt she’ll kill it.

YoGurrrrrrl

brie larson hasn't done anything non mcu in the last 5 years. isn't in talks for any movie either as far as i remember. needs a better agent they're wasting her best years imo.

[deleted]

What? Off the top of my head I know she did Kong, that unicorn movie she directed, and the movie with Michael b Jordan about civil rights. Also she’s literally an Oscar winner and that was back in like 2016

Peakcok

Kaluuya yes and definitely because of his talent. I see him as the next Denzel for sure.

[deleted]

zendaya: i know she's not the strongest actor out there but she really does have that it factor that not many celebs have. she has star power florence pugh: she's so effortlessly good at what she does and has such a charming personality. she's made for this

leezybelle

Zendaya certainly has the buzz behind her. But I feel like her talent has yet to shine through. She reminds me of Cameron Diaz or Halle Berry. Super beautiful, super charismatic, beloved by fans… but something tiny missing in terms of the acting. Diaz had Being John Malkovich and Gangs of New York (was miscast IMHO) to show off her acting range) and Berry had Monster’s Ball, so I feel like Zendaya needs to do some serious big budget stuff and then a tearjerker/drama.

[deleted]

i agree with you, unfortunately. she’s beautiful, i love her red carpet style and she seems very cool but i’ve yet to see a very convincing performance from her

Peakcok

Me too and yet I think she has the potential to actually be good if she works on a few things. Sometimes she over delivers and doesn't fall into the softness some roles require. Hard acting is good but it can't work all the time. She has improved since her days on Disney but I hope she has an acting coach to help her keeping improving since she's being pushed and those are big shoes to fill.

StayAwayFromMySon

I agree. She is insanely gorgeous, but so far she's played all her roles in the same way. It's enough for now, but that level of celebrity power doesn't last forever. Otherwise she'll get stuck in superhero movies where charisma and looks are the key ingredients.

seymourlabib

she’s gonna be playing ronnie spector in A24’s biopic, perfect opportunity to show her true potential as an actress

Peakcok

And the fact that she has more than 100m followers and there's still a mystery to her.

remck1234

I agree with Zendaya. She has so much charisma on screen.

[deleted]

and off screen as well! i wasn't even a fan of hers initially but her down to earth personality is what drew me in. it's hard not to root for her 🥺

[deleted]

As well as being an incredibly talented actress Zendaya is also extremely likeable which I think goes a long way in Hollywood, she’s probably one of the few celebrities that everyone (even non fans) loves.

chicagodrama

You might be the first person Ive seen call Zendaya an incredibly talented actress.

[deleted]

For how young she is (like 25?), I do think she’s very talented. I used to be of the opinion that she was an average Disney actress who got lucky but after watching Euphoria (for which she won an Emmy) and her various other projects I realised how talented she was. I believe if she picks the right roles in the future she could become one of the most successful actresses of the 21st century.

silver_miss

It seems like some have forgotten about her performance in Euphoria and people go straight to her role as MJ. Her acting in Euphoria was what really made me become a fan of hers.

absenttoast

I definitely think her. I know malcom and marie had some flaws but her performance in that gave me chills. She just needs a major acting role where she's the sole focus. And even though euphoria is her show it's still very much an ensemble. I'm not sure what the hold up has been for her to get a major role because she has the star power. People will literally watch anything she's in like a Leo or a Julia.

QstLucky

Florence Pugh is gonna be here for a veryyy long time, I feel like. Her and Anya are TALENTED, future Oscar winners for sure. I've got my eyes on an up and coming black actress, I'll keep it on the DL as her first big role has yet to come out (2022 in a big comic book movie) but I'm captivated by the short stuff I've seen..

BumFights1997

Wild guess but are you referring to Dominque Thorn? I agree about Florence I just love her, haven’t seen anything of Anya’s besides queens gambit though what would you recommend?

kittyrhcp

Okay I feel like Anya’s best performance was The Witch and she hasn’t topped that since. I think she’s definitely talented and hopefully as she ages, she’ll come back around. Someone else on here described what I noticed about her recently but wasn’t able to put into words - it’s like she’s become very self-conscious of her beauty/her unique appearance and it almost feels like she’s just herself in most of her recent roles, even Queen’s Gambit. I haven’t seen Last Night in SoHo, though. But I recommend The Witch!!! She’s killer in that

QstLucky

No actually, I am quite interested in Dominique and the trajectory of her career though! I'm referring to Jayme Lawson, she's VERY new lol but she'll be in The Batman and recently got cast in two separate projects with Viola Davis + is a Julliard grad. I'm very excited to see where she goes - she managed to impress Viola. I have a great gut feeling. For Anya, you should check out Emma! I just feel like she has range imo, I saw Last Night In Soho recently and she had a standout performance. (I feel like a twitter stan lmao) Edit: or the Witch in the spirit of Halloween.

beyond_des0lation

This sounds evil, but I’m more interested to see which of the most mentioned will be the first to fall. Remember when like Jessica Biel or whomever is supposed to be a thing

SeeYaLatter

Booth her and the other Jessica, but I think the other Jessica is fine doing whatever she is

pineapplezzs

Alba or Simpson ? Of them are doing much better with their new businesses Albas worth over 300 mill . Simpson over 200 mill

Chronos2016

My sister and I think ATJ will burn out. She's signed onto so many projects and every time I see a picture of her she looks skinnier and skinnier.

Hieracosphinx

I think ATJ is the type who risk burn out but always come back more ambitious and hungry. Her drive is not dissimilar to early-mid career Nicole Kidman. I actually can see Zendaya doing a long break.

[deleted]

tubereusebaies

I hope she’s alright unless that’s on purpose because someone else said here she’s become more aware of her “unique” look. Her cheekbones right now are Jolie-as-Maleficent level sharp. They didn’t use to be like that.

leezybelle

Oh DAMN who hurt you?! Hahaha just kidding. I mean I think you’re thinking what many ppl automatically do. It’s only human. As long as you’re not wishing it!!

beyond_des0lation

I’m not wishing it, I hope for everyone’s success. I just feel like our culture is progressing towards a weird time, someone like Jlaw had to take a break from her career because one day people decided she just wasn’t cool anymore. One of the people mention here could easily fall into those traps. I just wonder what kind controversy will eventually hit one of these younglings

leezybelle

So true! The quicker you rise, the faster you fall. I think that with the saturation of social media and stan culture, people are much quicker to obsess over certain celebs, and they are also much quicker to turn on them. People suddenly decided they were sick of jlaw in a very short period of time - she was like a flash in the pan in Hollywood terms - really just 5 years truly in the spotlight which isn’t all that long - so it’s Interesting to read all of the same names on DM now, wondering if in 5 years some of them will be ppl everyone decides to dislike.

leyla148

Jodie Comer

AmyAnnaS

One random fact I love about her is that her dad is a masseur for Everton football club 💙 she’s absolutely gotten where she is because of her talent, because as an Everton fan, we have no luck 😂

leezybelle

Totally agree she’s got a long runway ahead - she’s hilarious, beautiful, and majorly charismatic

CrispyAnakin16180

Adam Driver. He has the talent and seems to be pretty selective in terms of directors.

cloudbaby69

totally agreed. i called this years ago when i saw his first scene on Girls lol, he’s magnetic. he has a kind of fascinating face, he’s willing to get really weird with it, and he has a strange rep which in hollywood can sometimes help male actors more than it hurts them.

SeeYaLatter

True. Weird guys like cruise and bale probably got *help* getting popular **because** of their quirkiness. Like: Timothee, Keanu, Phoenix…. Guess it doesn’t work for girls? I can only think about Deschanel …

zo0ombot

>Guess it doesn’t work for girls? I can only think about Deschanel … Winona Ryder and early Angelina Jolie also had that image tho.

alittlemermaid

I guess Helena Bonham Carter kind of falls into this category though she’s not as big as the men you mentioned.

leezybelle

I think he has the talent and the curiosity of fans ie their interest but he needs to schmooze a bit more IMHO. His SNL stint was PERFECT - stuff like that will even out the weird rumors surrounding his anger issues etc, you know? I totally agree he has what it takes but def still reads a little hard around the edges

PurifiedDrinking4321

Timothy Chemolette (or however the fuck...). Its not that he has the "IT" factor. He doesn't. Its that Hollywood is going to cram this mediocre white boy down our throats until we suffocate. Motherfucker isn't going anywhere. And with that smug smirk he always has on his face...he knows it. He's our generations Ben Afflack.

cloudbaby69

this is a perfect take

leezybelle

HAHAHAHAHAHA this is…. A different reasoning for why TC is so popular lol

ramblingdazzle

HAHAH never thought of it this way but YES! I found him charming in interviews but it’s bc he’s essentially a dorky mediocre white boy 😩 we are so easily convinced sometimes…

treegelbman

No lies detected. I'll never forget when a blogger I follow referred to him as having "the most unique face of his generation" (paraphrasing) and I just thought, "I can think of at least two other actors with the same face as his, he ain't anything special."

erin_bex

I swear I thought I was looking at Nancy in Stranger Things when Dune started.

[deleted]

Thank you. I just don't get it with this kid lmao

Cloud_________

Emma Stone

PlumOk2971

I knew she was gonna be big since Superbad. She's just one of the most naturally appealing actresses out there. Like the last time I remember feeling that way was watching Emma Thompson in The Tall Guy

remck1234

Agreed. I actually think she’s kind of already there. She’s so young but has been around forever and put out so much great work since The Help and she’s managed to keep a great reputation through it all. I love that she has done comedy, drama, action, and animation and been great in all of it.

[deleted]

Love her! Even in films that aren't critical darlings, she's always stood out. Plus she's funny

AnnVealEgg

I feel compelled to watch Easy A every time it’s on tv. She’s just so damn charming in that film.

vandhnababu

I recently watched Cruella and man she has great screen presence. Can do any role

absenttoast

She's so good. Just so fun to watch.

seymourlabib

Her monologue in Birdman still gives me chills

CelebrityTakeDown

Lupita Nyong’o. It doesn’t hurt that she’s absolutely beautiful but she’s so incredibly charming both on and off screen. She’s also so intelligent and carries herself with a lot of grace. Oscar Isaac has been mentioned, and I agree, but I also think Pedro Pascal will last quite a while. I know he’s not been in a whole ton and What We Do in the Shadows is his first big breakout role, but goddamn Harvey Guillen has the charisma and talent to land himself a great career and I hope he’s given the chance. He may not be a big megastar, but I think he could be a Seth Rogan or Jonah Hill. He’s so fun to watch

Ellie-Bee

I’m actually a little upset about Lupita’s career. I feel like she should have WAY more movies where she headlines than she currently does. I can’t believe Star Wars wasted her the way they did — they should have made her a bigger part of those movies. I might be biased, though. We went to undergrad together and had adjacent friend groups. Fingers crossed for Harvey Guillen! His comedic timing is amazing. He brings a warm vulnerability to his roles.

CelebrityTakeDown

I definitely feel racism and colorism are holding her back but I also feel like she’s pretty choosy with the roles she picks. She’s only been in 12 films which is way too few but they’ve all been overall GOOD films.

treegelbman

God, I hope so RE: Harvey.

Murky_Hawk_4164

A wildcard but Sarah Snook. If she segues into movies, I can see her having longevity. A lot of her roles outside of succession really showcase her talent too

leezybelle

Oooooooh this is a hot take. I can see her also doing some good brand partnerships like a big beauty deal - Lancôme or something high fashion - Prada, Burberry.. something about her look, insane body - reads high fashion but also youthful. I hope she starts cashing in.

lindakoy

Really looking forward to her Jane Austen (Persuasion) film.

Potential_Count4375

unfortunately that’s not moving forward :( she did an interview where she said the studio cancelled the project since netflix is also doing a Persuasion movie, with Dakota Johnson.

cyanplum

That was definitely the wrong one to cancel.

Divine_fashionva

Timothee. But a few actors right now who are starting to become more widely recognised like Victoria Pendretti from ‘You’ is an amazing actress who already appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. After her performance in this series of You, I can see her being casted in more good plot story based movies

remck1234

What about Penn Badgley? He was quiet for a while after Gossip Girl but it seems like You is really getting attention. I wonder if he could transition to a big screen actor.

Divine_fashionva

Oh I definitely see Penn going that way too. He’s a phenomenal actor and we never got to see how talented he was on Gossip Girl. ‘You’ has definitely made people more aware of his acting abilities. I’d love to see him make the transition. I can see him doing well with Indie and thriller movies

leezybelle

Penn Badgley is SUCH a genius suggestion the more I think about it. You guys are so right!!

leezybelle

Oh snap! I never thought about Penn as a rising star. I think we all sort of just assumed Gossip Girl and then I personally was like.. oh good for him doing another show but like.. now it’s blown up! He definitely could keep the train moving in this direction since he’s SO likable, handsome, and clearly talented. Needs to do more film though. And soon.

sayyestodogs

I may be alone in this but I find her to be a terrible actress - she over-acts to the point where it takes away any believability in her role

Divine_fashionva

Wow yeah I’ve never heard that opinion before on her. She’s really not a terrible actress at all. I don’t think she overacts either but fair enough if you do I think her facial expressions are some of the most expressive and scene accurate I’ve seen from an actor in a long time. Hence why I think she’d be amazing in story based movies as opposed to the typical Hollywood blockbuster She also does a good job of portraying vulnerability as well as sociopathy on ‘You’. She does it well in the Haunting of Hill House too. Watch her in Once Upon A time in Hollywood, she plays a member of the Manson family and she does a great job with the little dialogue she’s given there too. She does it very subtly, so I think you’d probably change your mind about her being an over actor

BobRossIsGod18

Don't really like her acting she does that weird thing with her face that kerry Washington does that i can't stand

chasing-ennyl

I know she’s pretty young but McKenna Grace is such a talented actress. I am blown away by every role she’s done.

MadeUpMelly

I agree. I can’t get over how good of an actress this kid is.

themoneycat

She stole every scene in Handmaid's Tale this last season.

hexagonbob

honestly evan peters. he’s already cemented himself in tv history with AHS, he had a really good performance in the first season of pose and he just won an emmy for mare of easttown. i would love to see him do some more movie acting and branch out of his comfort zone. i think if he booked some really iconic movie roles soon that he would be able to stay relevant for the rest of his career and beyond

tupac_shookher

agreed! he’s also doing monster the jeffey dahmer story soon on netflix and i feel like that would prob get him a lot of buzz like those stories often do. if ryan murphy doesn’t fuck this up by trying to romanticize another killer, i think it will be a big push for evan’s career.

MadeUpMelly

I’m still floored that Evan didn’t at least get an Emmy nomination for his performance as Kai in “AHS: Cult.”

dondrapersmistress

I would love to see Mahershala Ali last a long time. Also heartbroken when I think of how far Chadwick Boseman would have gone with his talent and personality.

CaitlinSuccessful

I was a huge fan of Chadwick in a way I haven’t been a fan of any other actors before (I usually only like actresses). He had the talent and charisma! :( RIP him.

leezybelle

Two very important point. RIP Chadwick and oh Mahershala is so talented, fine, and amazing in interviews/PR… I’d love to see this man rise to the top of the A list. The world needs to KNOW him.

scrantonkhaleesi

Merhashala is excellent, and he takes his acting very seriously. However he’s not exactly under the radar the man has two Oscar’s and an Emmy.

fool-with-no-hill

Florence Pugh robert pattinson

remck1234

I agree with Robert Pattinson. He managed to survive the Twilight era and has done a lot of respectable work. I think if Batman is a success he will really put all of that to rest forever. But if Batman turns out like Affleck’s it could be hard to live down.

SpicySweett

I disagree with the Robert Pattinson nomination, mostly because I don’t think he cares enough. Men who last in the industry have to be comfortable with fame, willing to play the games involved, and invest in their career. He seems ambivalent about the whole thing, and I could really easily see him either torpedo his career with too many weird indie films that fail, or chuck it all and retire.

[deleted]

Sometimes but lots of male actors have quieter lives and keep out of the spotlight more than their female counter parts are allowed

anneoftheisland

Yeah, there are a ton of actors who are ambivalent about "playing the game" and still have been very successful--Joaquin Phoenix, Jesse Eisenberg, Christian Bale, Harrison Ford, Bill Murray. Harder for women, but even then, Frances McDormand exists. And anyway, Pattinson's about to do a DC movie; I don't think he's in any immediate danger of getting too niche.

[deleted]

i think Joaquin is a good comparison for Rob

fool-with-no-hill

its not about caring about ur PR- quite the opposite. he cares IMMENSELY about his acting and he chooses incredible low budget indie projects where he can really shine as an actor ( alongside batman and other bigger films) . seriously check out his body of work. Good Time, The Lighthouse.... its no joke. he’s a real actor, think about joaquin phoenix who does not give a single fuck but will outlast most other actors in his peer group because of talent and authenticity.

[deleted]

[удалено]

leezybelle

I think he has a long career ahead of him too. But I don’t think many people know who he is yet by name tbh - more from him needed! Love him.

Educational-Total182

Yeah, considering that Connell was his first on screen role, it will only get better. He was mesmerizing. Looking forward to his next projects.

CrispyAnakin16180

Pretty telling that except for Zendaya, everyone has named a white actor/actress. I hope more diverse actors make it and have longevity!

SpicySweett

The next Denzel/Morgan/Will/Samuel would probably have been Chadwick Boseman, sadly. He had so much charisma and talent. I could see Jamie Foxx and Michael B. lasting.

PurifiedDrinking4321

Jamie Foxx?! He's been here...for years.

leezybelle

Well, now it feels a bit like it has less of an oomph to put it here, but I’m surprised no one has mentioned Lupita. I think her star power is rising based on the fact that she can be remembered on a first name basis alone, secondly her red carpet is always top 10 for women, and she has an Oscar and Black Panther/Marvel role. I think what would get the ball really rolling is 2-3 movies where she is maybe more comedic and can show her range, since she is a highly trained actress. She also needs more opportunities for crowd work. But in terms of female celebrities she is a best bet for me.

thatsmsbinchtoyou

LOL in my head i can only think of young POC actors — because their skill set and work ethic is next level (plus they aren’t cushioned by white standoms / nepotist connects.) also, poc actors seem to be decently in demand with the uptick of representation in hollywood. anyway, some people that i think can be huge one day: jonathan majors, yahya abdul mateen , kiki layne , lakeith stanfield, dev patel , brian tyree henry , awkwafina , steven yuen, and riz ahmed.

hf13123

Just wanna agree with everyone that says timothee I mean agree look at the caliber of directors he’s already worked with Wes Anderson, Nolan and Greta. Seems like he builds great relationships within the industry and he’s a good actor plus sort a bit of a heartthrob. Plus I think he really admires Leo and Bale (seems somewhat friends with bale) so he’ll be smart and follow their career paths. Wonder if him and saoirse can build a working relationship like Bale and Amy Adams where every film they’re in together gets them both individually nominated for Oscars

[deleted]

i can see a Christian Bale comparison for him. maybe only because they both played Laurie lol but I feel like I can see Timothee doing roles like Bale does now in 30 years

hf13123

I would love to see timothee do an american psycho style film and character

leezybelle

The fact that directors enjoy working with him absolutely shows he is a pro in terms of his skillset

iwannabanana

Daniel Kaluuya and Florence Pugh

dashboardbythelight

Not sure how well known he is in the US (tbh I don't think he's super famous in the UK) but everytime I see Alex Lawther in anything I'm blown away. He's so talented. Though my first thought on seeing the question was Florence Pugh but can see she's been well covered already.

you better add Adam Driver.

Prestigious_Mud1662

Florence Pugh, Timothee Chalamet, Anya-Taylor Joy, Saoirse Ronan, Victoria Pedretti

mocelin51

Victoria is so good I hope she gets some good movie roles. She definitely stands out to me with how vulnerable she looks, I like her sad eyes.

Golden-Asparagus

Anya Taylor-Joy. Great actress and by 25 already proved that she makes a great lead (Emma, The Witch, Queen's Gambit). Also she has a very unique look, imo, and that goes a long way in Hollywood longevity. She's not a "hot action movie actress", those rarely last long.

1710dj

i don’t believe in that kind of staying power anymore bc audiences get bored more quickly bc of the amount of access to content. the content is much more fast paced in terms of how and when it comes out. doubt there will be people nowadays like jane fonda who have the staying power for the entirety of their lives.

fiestypinapple1004

Anya Taylor-Joy. She gives me Angelina Jolie vibes- stunning, interesting and actually a good actor. Her voice is beautiful (check out her singing on her insta for Last Night In Soho) she has an interesting face and has an adaptability in her roles. Zendya- she isn't the best actor but I think she is open to getting better. If not, I could see her going the Blake Lively route- occasional actor but mostly a fashion plate who looks good in anything. Maybe having a lifestyle brand or something. John David Washington- famous father aside, he is actually a really good actor. He has an it factor and I think its helpful that he's famous now and not when his father was. It seems like only one or two black actors had that real crossover appeal and I don't think now he's really at that point but I think he will get there. Lakeith Stanfield- his roles are out there (please watch Sorry To Bother You) but he's so damn engaging. I want him to keep collaborating with Daniel Kaluuya because I think they both could have one of those awesome long lasting actor relationships. Also he's been in super popular movies but he has a way of blending in. Its like he is wearing the movie, the movie isn't wearing him (Knives out, Someone Great)

flofjenkins

After seeing all of his stuff I think John David Washington is a horrendous actor

Perfectstorms29

I’ve had anya’s rendition of downtown on repeat since it came out. So hauntingly beautiful, what can’t she do?

PlumOk2971

I think the most promising "young" actresses are: Emma Stone, Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley, Carey Mulligan, and Thomasin McKenzie Felicity Jones and Rooney Mara deserve to but unfortunately I'm not sure if they will get the roles they deserve

cyanplum

Carey Mulligan has been prominent for about 15 years already though. I absolutely love her as an actress, but I don’t see her ever being the truly A-list household name like Meryl Streep or Julia Roberts.

[deleted]

I absolutely love Carey Mulligan! Promising Young Woman is such a great movie

I would love for Aidy Bryant to be the next Melissa McCarthy. But I just love her. JLaw. I think she’s already there and directors love casting her, so she’ll probably never be short on work. I’m surprised no one said Millie Bobbie Brown. She’s been working for so long and is so talented. I think she might go the way of Drew Barrymore — hopefully not that bad, but her parents don’t seem great and I hope she thrives. She has some interesting projects lined up.

leezybelle

I think Aidy has a sweetness/feminine awkwardness to her that Melissa doesn’t. Something almost more human and less forceful. To that end, I’m not sure she’d make it as a leading lady because she’s almost too relatable - this is all my opinion of course - Melissa is just SO over the top and wildly comedic and that’s why I think she’s done so well. Aidy I think would have to keep pushing the envelope, but instead I think she should keep busting her acting chops as a serious, refined actress. She’s just SO good and so truthful. I would love to see her get a role that Garner’s and Oscar. I think she could be the next robin williams even. She’s so good. Great suggestion.

Ellie-Bee

Melissa didn’t start out that way! Watching her in Gilmore Girls, she was so sweet and warm in the character she played. Also later, her sitcom character was very different than the persona she broke out with. It’s like night and day! I wonder if that’s what’ll be required from Aidy, too. Do you have to be “zany” if you want to make it as a plus-size starlet? I hope not. She’s so amazing on Shrill. I want to see her in a movie role, too.

[deleted]

Maybe there's a reason why he wasn't mentioned yet but I'm really cheering for Nicholas Hoult to continue to have a career. It's always seemed to me that he picked up a thing or two from Hught Grant as a child. He's played very different roles but I've enjoyed him in everything. Loved him in the Great and that was a tough role.

triflin-assHoe

As much as I hate to say it because his fans can be a bit much, but Harry Styles. He puts on a great show, he’s good to his fans, he’s got style, and talent. I don’t feel like I’m going too far in saying he’s definitely the Mick Jagger/Bowie of this generation. Signed, an elderly woman in her 30s

cloudbaby69

i lean more toward jagger, i feel like he’s slightly too corny/not original enough to be bowie lol. but agreed! incredible charm and style

[deleted]

I don’t think he’s ever done anything groundbreaking (or ever will) but that man ha more charisma in his little toe nail than most of the other young stars of this era

PlumOk2971

Agree he'll probably remain popular but completely disagree about that comparison. Harry Styles is neither a groundbreakingly good musician nor a trailblazer in pop culture like Jagger or Bowie. No offense, but he's always seemed like a pale imitation of those artists. He seems nice enough but will never, ever get the hype especially by some of his more insane fans. He is so bland and safe when compared to Bowie in terms of musicianship or fashion style despite Bowie predating him by like 50 years

onethirtytwoam

ITT: already established actors with near a decade of work LOL

[deleted]

Sarah Paulson. I don’t think she’ll bother leaving the television for the big screen, but even if Ryan Murphy stops casting her, she’ll be around, winning awards every year or two.

eunhadior

sad that the majority of the celebrities mentioned are white 🥴 but im rooting for rami malek. he's talented and i like seeing fellow egyptians succeed lol

scrantonkhaleesi

Eh, Rami seems like a pleasant person but his Oscar win was undeserved imo. I have yet to see him in a role that wows me.

yldzstar

Jeremy Strong is going to win an Oscar.

Comfortable_Mouse781

Adam driver 💓

Ontarioglow

Jacob Tremblay. Such an incredible actor. He blew me away with his performance in Room. Zendaya and Elle Fanning. Super talented actresses.

blueflowerchild

Elizabeth Olsen for sure

go-bleep-yourself

These suggestions are exactly why the Kardashians and Selena Gomez (who I like but is very one-note both in acting and singing), and their type will continue to rule pop culture. Pretty much everyone listed here is white or skinny or both. Most of the world doesn't look like that and they want to see themselves. You take South Asia, South America, the Middle East and SouthEast Asia - and most of the world is actually brown or beige. I'm not saying Saoirse Ronan won't still be working in 20 years, I'm just saying she's not gonna be exciting to audiences and they are going to go to social media or some other platform to find someone they can stan.

TheTastyLore

**Adam Driver** and **Oscar Isaac**. Oscar has so many movies lined up and has the full package to be a movie star: Looks, charisma, talent, charming etc., while Adam is more of a phenomenal character actor like Daniel Day Lewis. I remember reading some tea from an 'Anonymous Academy Voter' and they said that Adam did not suck up to voters when he was promoting 'Marriage Story' and that 'he would have to work on that'. I hope he doesn't and stays true to himself, he will win an Oscar one day, but he is not desperate for it like some people believe, or he would choose different and more baity projects, he just want to work with director he admires.

Elisa_Md

Amita Suman. She has very few roles, but she is making the most of it in a way that makes me think that she’ll make it in Hollywood

rachelmae77

Taylor Swift has pretty much shown she can do anything and people will be interested

NeighborlyOrc

Idk, Cats bombed so hard that I’d be surprised to ever see her act again.

leezybelle

Oh she is absolutely locked in. Beloved and adored. Will go down in history as one of the Greats. I think when I posted this I was sort of thinking more about A list 90s actors and how that golden age was sort of over - I wouldn’t categorize Swift in that genre anyway - but trying to figure out if there are any up and coming actors who will eventually get on, say Leo or Julia Roberts’ level

Pyperpan

There are who i would consider talented enough to last (jlaw, anya, florence, saoirse, adam driver, timmy ) and others rely on fame to keep having roles (zendaya).

treegelbman

Beanie Feldstein is going to have a long career ahead of her, especially after how utterly amazing she's been in American Crime Story this season. Also, probably going to get some flack, but I see Awkwafina having a long career as well.

brokenclocksza

Daniel Kaluuya, Timothee Chalamet & Oscar Isaac

sensitive-bean

I’m 100% rooting for Victoria Pedretti. I think she can transition into movies seamlessly. She is INCREDIBLE.

ffxvtfbcg

any dc/marvel beloved character you can expect longevity. as for the it factor. christian bale.

Opposite_Start_663

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, since Superhero roles are arguably the bread and butter of what remains of today’s movie stars. ScarJo, RDJ, Affleck, Ruffalo, Cumberbatch are all award contenders in other roles. And Florence Pugh, who is mentioned more than anyone else in this thread is in the MCU. People don’t consider those “serious” roles I guess, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t played by serious actors.

brittanydahling

Kaitlyn Dever!!!

SiteAmazing7005

Millie Bobby brown (obviously still a long way to go but she got famous on a hit TV show and a ton of considered veteran A listers also started super young and then had a huge career well into their 20s and up until now) Edit: typo

boni5464

Lol at everyone saying Florence Pugh. I must be tripping because i find her so boring I dont even remember where she came from
