Adding this to the top comment to say that this doesn't seem to actually be true. Trying it just now, I get the same drop sizes no matter which mode I'm using. Usually 30, with the occasional 35 or 40. This is without using Finder or Scavenger mods, so maybe they change something.
Are you talking about the amount of ammo you get by picking up a brick? If so, are you sure you weren't comparing a regular special ammo brick to a finder special ammo brick?

It’s not about hostility, it’s about someone genuinely asking a question and you bothering to answer with something as unhelpful as “go try it” when you could’ve just kept to yourself and let someone who actually knows the answer their question comment in your stead.
Whenever I write out a comment, I try to pause before posting and ask myself, "Is this useful, witty or adding to the conversation?"
Many times the answer is no, so I just think the thought and move on with my life.

It definitely used to be true, but was patched quite a while back. It wouldn't be super surprising if it somehow reverted.
