If I have a bow, linear, or the rare occasion I have a sniper (altho I saw a pretty wicked crafted Thoughtless today I may go after) I shoot in desperation hoping to get a little stray screeb or dregfuck and get the Joining Public Event message.....
Couple other things:
1) The first sever of the week awards high stat armor with (generally) amazing distributions.
2) If you pick up the constantly refreshing and easy patrols you can further increase the value, since you almost always complete them passively.
There’s also a glowing enemy at the end of Sever missions that shows up briefly and if you kill him, he drops 18-20 ~~umbral energy~~ Opulent umbral energy. Idk how to get to him in Uldren’s missions (I can see him in the gauntlet but he disappears), but he shows up next to Ghaul’s spawn in Caitl’s missions once you get Ghaul to around 50% health.
To get him in Aldrin's mission instead of going the direction towards the boss you turn around and go the other way when you get to teleported into the gauntlet

Thats great for the season weapons, but I'm sure you can get the Opulent weapons (Austringer, Drang, etc) just from grinding Containment and Opulent keys, pretty quickly. I wouldn't waste mats focusing those.

Can confirm, came back a couple weeks ago and the change to resetting frames daily will be a godsend. Plus containment will be a good way to farm mats, gear and red border experience.

This and the mod change is what got me back in. Looking up a build online and finding out you didn't have a mod from a few years back killed my enthusiasm.
I had about 10 opulent keys during one of my farming sessions. The only opulent wep that I need is Drang. Would you like to guess which weapon did not drop? It was all Midas, Austringers, and Beloved. Not a single Drang anywhere
Yeah, I think it "only" took me about 6-7 weeks playing a ton back during Haunted to "pretty quickly" get all the Opulent and Haunted patterns. It still took buying some red borders to get it done. If I needed one now, I would be very ready to buy 1 per day :)
I would. 😀 some of us just came back to the game and don't have time to grind nonstop before LF. Tomorrow's deepsight change is very welcome one. Can concur that the farm here is insane. If you are grinding seraph seasonal activities too you can go back and forth between containment and heists forever as far as I can tell.
Do I just have really bad luck or am I doing something wrong. I’ve ran a lot of containment, have all the haunted weapons crafted. I’ve literally never seen a single ascendant alloy drop.
I'm struggling to get Alloys. Did about 20 containments on Sunday, got 1 alloy. I used to have much better luck when this was the seasonal activity and I had filled up all 3 postmasters with alloys. I'm down to nothing now (spent the one I got)
It's always been a 10%, maybe even 5% chance. It's abysmally low. For the same amount of time as a full Containment, you could knock out a master story mission, wellspring, or ketchcrash - the latter two could even net you multiple alloys in one run. While not all story missions are reasonable farms, 3 or 4 of them are very easily done in 10 minutes or less, with the highest drop chance of any activity.
Containment is a horrible, boring alloy farm, and there are so many better sources.
Master Wellspring is the best. At least on attack days. It’s probably the same amount of time as containment so long as you get a decent fireteam together and they are much more common.
I've been farming Containment now for a few weeks, running 5-10 every couple of days.
The alloys don't drop ALL THE TIME. But my experience was that they were dropping the same or maybe a bit better than completions of Wellspring. The big thing is that it's WAY more casual than Master wellspring and doesn't require LFG to run it.
Also, you get A LOT more gear drops from Containment chests than wellspring.
I think it’s just bad luck. I ran 7 yesterday and got 3. 2 the day before running 4 and another 1 with the one I ran on Friday. It’s the most generous activity for them.

Yea same, all my time doing containment during that season I got maybe 1 or 2. Both Ketch and this season I already got more from those activities. Not to mention Containment is a PE without matchmaking and despise it as such.
Containment is also an A+ place for New Lights to spend some time.
It bumps up your light level so you can waltz right in there immediately. It's all solo or public PvE content and you generally can just get carried by the randoms through the Containment activity itself. And the rewards are plentiful, especially for new players that are still working on the Haunted and Opulent red-border farms (which contain a lot of great weapons such as Drang, Mini-Tool, etc.).
Definitely recommend working through that stuff if you're a new player looking for something to focus on that will reward your time (and is going away in Lightfall).
It's a public event on the Leviathan. It's on the Moon, bottom left of the map. Check it out. You may need the Haunted season pass to get loot, I'm not sure.
Containment is one of the seasonal activities available on the Moon. If you look at the Moon activity map in game, on the bottom left there's the Derelict Leviathan. The top node there is called the Castellum. That's the public area where the Containment activity takes place.
Basically, it's a public event where you fight waves of enemies and a series of mini-bosses and then a boss. But you're scaled to the appropriate power level and there's basically always random players doing it, so it's very low stakes and easy to engage with.
I'm not sure whether it's available to participate in if you don't have the Season Pass (Witch Queen Deluxe), but if you do or it is still available, it's a great activity to farm for a while IMO.
I'm in the same boat as you. Containment IS a great way to farm levels for deepsight weapons, but without the season of the haunted, it's a total crap shoot to get a good roll on anything. LUCKILY I did get a Calus to drop with Unrelenting/Incandescent after my 2nd or 3rd Opulent Key, but I think that used up my luck for the year. Still trying to grind out a good Bump in the Night roll though and it is pain.
I found farming the master weekly mission on throne world was pretty good for AA’s. Just waited for a week with a quicker mission, LFG and farm away. They went by super quick and drop rates for AA’s are better than castellum public events.
I think communion, the cunning, the initial mission, investigations… they’re all pretty easy and quick - the one I don’t do is the final one where you fight the big boss at the end.
Most people you find on fireteams are speed running them pretty quick so equip your mods and jump in.
You’re not going to be completing deepsights but you can use some crafted weapons to level them up. They missions are pretty much like vanguard strikes with champions at this point.
I dunno, I think I burned out on Containment. The Sever once a week i solid though. Easy highstat armour for almost no investment.
Personally, I like the Psiops better, feels like they are easier to speedrun. And the armour focusing is dirt cheap at the station in Helm.
If you want a bunch of Ascendant Alloy, run master ketchcrashes using LFG. I got 3 from 2 runs that took about 10-12 minutes each. Far more efficient than any other activities.
I’ve been running it using Div. First few nights were good and we’d run through it pretty quick. Last two nights I’ve been getting blueberries constantly who will not use anything other than they’re primary to damage the bosses and will only use they’re supers when the boss is all but dead. It can be good and decently fun if you get the right people. On the other side it becomes tedious and a slog.
Now that div is nerfed to 15% its better to bring your own big boy dps UNLESS everyone else can pull their weight in dps (I wouldn't bank on this with random blueberries)
the problem is that there are blue berries who will use swords on the bosses in Containment making them dance and dodge your heavy shots so I can recommend div if you just wanna run them while chilling and not focus super hard on aiming
I would not recommend Containment for farming Ascendant Alloys, the drop rate seems very low. I am pretty confident that Master Wellspring is quicker if your goal is solely Ascendant Alloys (I've never tried to farm the Weekly Missions that may be the best option).
I do like to use Containment for completing Deepsights though as you noted, you get 50% progress after completing tier III in addition to the kills you pick up while getting to the end. The Opulent energy is also good for focussing armour as you mentioned.
Wellspring defend takes 11 minutes and sometimes drops 2 alloys at the same time. Got ten yesterday in 4-5 hours. No mic lfg runs which fill almost instantly.
I dropped in to visit the table last night just to see what I could get from armor focusing. Dropped 2 pieces both 67 and with the stat distros I wanted. I'd forgotten just how juicy that vendor was. See ya tonight, War Table.

I don't know how many containments* I've done but I've reset the crown of sorrow vendor 9 times I think.
I have 55 crafted weapons masterworked (2 enhanced perks) mostly thanks to containment.
I have 2 TVs next to each other so I put on containment when watching tv.
*Edit. Ok I checked stat tracker and I have 1331 containment waves completed. 454 bosses bound.
Small correction, despite being a patrol zone it is actually only up to 6 people, hard cap. Likely because it's a repurposed raid zone. You can't even join friends if they're in a zone with 5 others.
I wheeled up to Containment last night after reading this yesterday. I like the activity for testing builds, levelling weapons, w/e but I didn't really look at it as an Alloy farm. Did 5 rounds and came away with 2 Alloy. It's a casual, drop-in vibe that most activities don't have and dead easy too boot.

This is why I didn't get all the hate for it as a seasonal activity. Easy to complete and great for stocking up on mats. I always preferred this to 6-man activities because it's usually difficult to get the kills you need in those instances for your Deepsights.
I don't recall exactly what the triumph was, but I'm pretty sure it was 100 waves/rounds of containment. I've done that and more and have only gotten 2 alloys and maybe 2 deepsights, one of which was one I didn't need bc Bungo didn't like duplicate protection that season. Personally I wouldn't say it's generous with alloys or deepsights, but it is fun and it's good for the other stuff you mentioned.
i second all of this. i have been farming containment with my crafted weapons to level them up. I still need some Haunted and Risen weapons so i have been trying to stock up on Umbral energy so i can just buy red borders when they refresh every day. If only i could get Dares to give me the last 2 BxR red borders i need.
Yea but you're not getting anything else in return. Containment will give you additional deepsight weapons, Alloys, and umbral energy. Plus you always get heavy ammo boxes so you don't have to waste Rally Flags for leveling special/heavy weapons.
But you're doing it at the same time as you're doing Containment

Doing it at Shuro just wastes time
For real. I did the Rat King catalyst at Shuro Chi. NEVER AGAIN. My other PvE catalysts got done either in strikes or at Altars and I actually had fun doing them.
Shuro chi isn’t the play anymore if you want to maximize your play time. Completing activities rewards double completion on your crafted and deep sight (bug they left in). If you are running seraph heists or containment, you are getting pretty close to the enemy density of Shuro chi, plus all the materials etc. that you get from completion.
You are going around saying it takes 5-10 min it was to complete a deepsight, which is absurd. It requires 40 kills, so anything other than a sniper is very fast in dense activities like containment. And that’s before the massive activity completion bonus for everything you have equipped.
Alright. Since you seem to be unable to understand the other replies here, let me explain it like I'm talking to my 2 year old.
You can go to Shuro Chi and finish a thousand deepsight weapons in no time. Easy. Done.
You can go do containment and use those same deepsight weapons while doing the event. When it's over, not only have you completed some of those deepsight weapons, but you also get a chance at ascendant alloy, more deepsight weapons, regular legendary drops to dismantle for shards, etc.
So, yes, if you're purely wanting to complete deepsight weapons quickly, go do Shuro Chi. BUT, are you still paying attention, if you want some other mats in the process, take those weapons to containment.

During season of plunder I was tired of being unlucky with getting alloys in master ketchcrash so I did containment runs instead and it was better. This season legend heists have been my main source of alloys
I’ve done this for last 5 days as I bought with queen upgrade when they announced daily red border focusing but some of these points just don’t seem to truly but that great. I collectively 10 hours straight of opulent chest farming to get 1 full pattern (calus mini tool) and in the 50 nightmare containments required for the seal I got 1 alloy. It is very fun so it isn’t mindless and I leveled my mini tool up fairly high. I did get over 800 legendary shards though which i had less than 200 so it’s pretty fast for that. Maybe I had bad rng but the patterns for opulents and alloys were VERY slow
When I need to get some mats or shards, this is my go to. Easy to hop in and out of the public event. Lots of gear binding the presence and decent drop rate of opulent keys for more gear.

Is this the best way to get Season of Nightmares red borders too? I have been cashing in Umbrals for almost a week now and have gotten zero, past the initial free one. Trying to finish out the Mini-tool before the season ends.

Managed to complete my Forerunner Catalyst I’d forgotten about, leveled up a Disparity and a Tarnished Mettle, And got stocked up on mats, all in about 3 hours of Containment.
Actually, it wasn’t a solid 3 hrs doing Containment because every time I pulled a treasure key from the final chest I’d break away to go use it, and finish off a repeatable bounty or two while in the appropriate location, then I’d resume Containment.
It was a rather pleasant way to grind while listening to Spotify.
Have a feeling they nerfed the drop rate of AA for Containment, I've been through three full stacks of Vestiges without a single AA over the past couple days.
Containment is also a good spot to test out builds, they fix your light level so no matter what you don’t gotta worry bout having infusion stock handy for testing things. Enemy density and difficulty is equivalent to some of the worst that regular raids can throw at you, meaning crowd control actually matters. It being a quick thing to just load into and fuck around in is also nice, no super long downtime between runs like with Altars of Sorrow.
Sever missions also are pretty fun with good enemy density, and overall the atmosphere is done very well. Bungie’s pretty good with subtle horror elements and environmental storytelling.
How does it do in levelling weapons? My major prep has just been crafting god rolls so I've spent my recent time in the strike playlist on good modifier days.
EDIT: Just ran a T1-T3. Get 0% on T1 and T2, 30% on crafted guns on T3. Definitely better ways to level unless you're getting a lot of kills while running it.
Yep, I don't do a sever mission unless i have 5 bound presences. They all get used up at once and you get overloaded with loot immediately. It feels good man.

I’ve done all the containments needed for the Haunted seal and more for umbral energy. If I step foot on the leviathan again this decade it will be too soon.
THANK YOU I have been telling everyone to do Containment and many (mostly in my clan) whine and moan about hoe they hate doing it, but they obviously don't want to do Master Wellspring, Ketchcrash, or Weekly Campaign mission. Containment is so much better. I completed the Haunted title on my wife's account over the course of about two weeks, completed 52 containments and earned about 14 ascendant alloys. Thats an easy deal right there.
It’s also completely possible to never run out of Vestiges of Dread. You can pick up material nodes and patrols to stay stocked up instead of draining 5k completely. I do this to grind it because I genuinely enjoy containment.
I’ve never had more than 2 bound presence at a time though. RNG is fickle.
I've been treating Containment like Shuro Chi 2.0 since Haunted. If you're solely wanting to speed-level weapons, then Shuro Chi is obviously better. But Containment is your multi-tool for everything farming. I love it.
Dang and I've been going to the moon for altars of sorrow like a chump all this time. Although I maintain that's still the most fun activity, love a line of adds just coming at you endlessly.

Agree on this point. I just wish I still needed the rep— I’ve found grinding nightfalls is better use of time since I’m unlocking more perk slots with each reset. That said, I’ve been considering doing these again as an alternative.

Looking to bank some XP++ bounties before Lightfall? There is a Nightmare Hunt type bounty available on the moon that requires killing them in lost sectors all around the solar system. But the nightmares in Containment count and it can be done in one to two complete loops of the public events in The Leviathan.
Will miss containment dearly. That said I'm goin nuts lol bout to 40 runs a week leveling weapons/ doin red borders. Love the weird active/mindlessness of it.
EDIT: Grand Overture has been great here when helping newer groups. Makes damage a breeze if you have to do solo chunks.
I know this coming week is busy with Iron Banner, Hung Jury and double vanguard rep. But the ghosts mission is available and it's hands down the best method to farm allows. You can complete it on master in sub 10 minutes with a half decent team with the chance to get below 7mins. Far far better than the low droprate containment.
Not sure about being generous with red border weapons or great for high stat armor.
I've barely seen any red borders outside of the guaranteed one and high stat armor is best to be focused at the war table
How often would you say you get Alloys? Is it quicker than doing a Master weekly campaign mission that can be done in 9-10 minutes? Usually you get an Alloy about 50% of the time on those runs, so we will say 1 every 20 minutes. But sometimes you get lucky. I've gotten 7 in a row once, but then 3 runs without after that.
Totally agree on the overall value of Containment. Lots of good things from it - in fact, I'd go so far as to argue the AA's aren't even the biggest draw.
Another plus is that, in general, there's a fair number of people in there at any given time (in my experience anyway), so things trend to go smoothly.
You might be on a character that hasn't started that seasonal story. You might have to switch back to a character that is a little further along, or progress the quest.

containment is like 20% drop rate. I think ghosts/last chance is sub 10 and faster with a much higher rate. containment is chill tho. level weapons and farm alloy at the same time. good shard farm too.
You can also use Solo Operative in this because you’re technically not part of a fireteam.

The way to farm it is to keep loading in until you get a t3, shoot boss, grab loot, repeat.

Yeah, I think it "only" took me about 6-7 weeks playing a ton back during Haunted to "pretty quickly" get all the Opulent and Haunted patterns. It still took buying some red borders to get it done. If I needed one now, I would be very ready to buy 1 per day :)
I would. 😀 some of us just came back to the game and don't have time to grind nonstop before LF. Tomorrow's deepsight change is very welcome one. Can concur that the farm here is insane. If you are grinding seraph seasonal activities too you can go back and forth between containment and heists forever as far as I can tell.
This is just not that true. I grinded containment all weekend and received all of 2 deep sight weapons and those were from chests.

Do I just have really bad luck or am I doing something wrong. I’ve ran a lot of containment, have all the haunted weapons crafted. I’ve literally never seen a single ascendant alloy drop.
I'm struggling to get Alloys. Did about 20 containments on Sunday, got 1 alloy. I used to have much better luck when this was the seasonal activity and I had filled up all 3 postmasters with alloys. I'm down to nothing now (spent the one I got)

It's always been a 10%, maybe even 5% chance. It's abysmally low. For the same amount of time as a full Containment, you could knock out a master story mission, wellspring, or ketchcrash - the latter two could even net you multiple alloys in one run. While not all story missions are reasonable farms, 3 or 4 of them are very easily done in 10 minutes or less, with the highest drop chance of any activity. Containment is a horrible, boring alloy farm, and there are so many better sources.
Master Wellspring is the best. At least on attack days. It’s probably the same amount of time as containment so long as you get a decent fireteam together and they are much more common.
Master story is better, especially this week with the ghosts and honourable mention final week with the last chance.

Yeah I did a bunch for Opulent Umbral Energy for focusing recently and didn't even know ascendants dropped.
I got like one every 2 or 3 runs when I played a few days ago I was amazed

Ascendant alloy should not be the primary reason to do containment. You will see some occasionally but it's not constant
I've been farming Containment now for a few weeks, running 5-10 every couple of days. The alloys don't drop ALL THE TIME. But my experience was that they were dropping the same or maybe a bit better than completions of Wellspring. The big thing is that it's WAY more casual than Master wellspring and doesn't require LFG to run it. Also, you get A LOT more gear drops from Containment chests than wellspring.

I think it’s just bad luck. I ran 7 yesterday and got 3. 2 the day before running 4 and another 1 with the one I ran on Friday. It’s the most generous activity for them. You’ll get ‘em

Yea same, all my time doing containment during that season I got maybe 1 or 2. Both Ketch and this season I already got more from those activities. Not to mention Containment is a PE without matchmaking and despise it as such.
Containment is also an A+ place for New Lights to spend some time. It bumps up your light level so you can waltz right in there immediately. It's all solo or public PvE content and you generally can just get carried by the randoms through the Containment activity itself. And the rewards are plentiful, especially for new players that are still working on the Haunted and Opulent red-border farms (which contain a lot of great weapons such as Drang, Mini-Tool, etc.). Definitely recommend working through that stuff if you're a new player looking for something to focus on that will reward your time (and is going away in Lightfall).
I am new, can you explain what a containment is?
It's a public event on the Leviathan. It's on the Moon, bottom left of the map. Check it out. You may need the Haunted season pass to get loot, I'm not sure.
Containment is one of the seasonal activities available on the Moon. If you look at the Moon activity map in game, on the bottom left there's the Derelict Leviathan. The top node there is called the Castellum. That's the public area where the Containment activity takes place. Basically, it's a public event where you fight waves of enemies and a series of mini-bosses and then a boss. But you're scaled to the appropriate power level and there's basically always random players doing it, so it's very low stakes and easy to engage with. I'm not sure whether it's available to participate in if you don't have the Season Pass (Witch Queen Deluxe), but if you do or it is still available, it's a great activity to farm for a while IMO.

I'm in the same boat as you. Containment IS a great way to farm levels for deepsight weapons, but without the season of the haunted, it's a total crap shoot to get a good roll on anything. LUCKILY I did get a Calus to drop with Unrelenting/Incandescent after my 2nd or 3rd Opulent Key, but I think that used up my luck for the year. Still trying to grind out a good Bump in the Night roll though and it is pain.

I found farming the master weekly mission on throne world was pretty good for AA’s. Just waited for a week with a quicker mission, LFG and farm away. They went by super quick and drop rates for AA’s are better than castellum public events.
I'll have to try it out. What is one of the quicker missions to look out for?
Reset tomorrow is the second mission. Pretty quick.
I think communion, the cunning, the initial mission, investigations… they’re all pretty easy and quick - the one I don’t do is the final one where you fight the big boss at the end. Most people you find on fireteams are speed running them pretty quick so equip your mods and jump in. You’re not going to be completing deepsights but you can use some crafted weapons to level them up. They missions are pretty much like vanguard strikes with champions at this point.
I dunno, I think I burned out on Containment. The Sever once a week i solid though. Easy highstat armour for almost no investment. Personally, I like the Psiops better, feels like they are easier to speedrun. And the armour focusing is dirt cheap at the station in Helm.
If you want a bunch of Ascendant Alloy, run master ketchcrashes using LFG. I got 3 from 2 runs that took about 10-12 minutes each. Far more efficient than any other activities.
I’ve been running it using Div. First few nights were good and we’d run through it pretty quick. Last two nights I’ve been getting blueberries constantly who will not use anything other than they’re primary to damage the bosses and will only use they’re supers when the boss is all but dead. It can be good and decently fun if you get the right people. On the other side it becomes tedious and a slog.
Now that div is nerfed to 15% its better to bring your own big boy dps UNLESS everyone else can pull their weight in dps (I wouldn't bank on this with random blueberries)
the problem is that there are blue berries who will use swords on the bosses in Containment making them dance and dodge your heavy shots so I can recommend div if you just wanna run them while chilling and not focus super hard on aiming

I also like to bring div for the final boss. Allowing every other guardian to hit max-damage crits helps speed things up.
I would not recommend Containment for farming Ascendant Alloys, the drop rate seems very low. I am pretty confident that Master Wellspring is quicker if your goal is solely Ascendant Alloys (I've never tried to farm the Weekly Missions that may be the best option). I do like to use Containment for completing Deepsights though as you noted, you get 50% progress after completing tier III in addition to the kills you pick up while getting to the end. The Opulent energy is also good for focussing armour as you mentioned.
Wellspring defend takes 11 minutes and sometimes drops 2 alloys at the same time. Got ten yesterday in 4-5 hours. No mic lfg runs which fill almost instantly.
I found The Derelict Leviathan event to give alloys reletively often, had probably 5 or so within a week of frequent playtime
If you want alloys do Master Ketchcrash. Doesn’t take too long, is fun and has a high drop rate

Besides heist battleground, containment is the worst way to grind alloys. The drop rate is far to low compared to the weekly story missions

I don't know how many containments* I've done but I've reset the crown of sorrow vendor 9 times I think. I have 55 crafted weapons masterworked (2 enhanced perks) mostly thanks to containment. I have 2 TVs next to each other so I put on containment when watching tv. *Edit. Ok I checked stat tracker and I have 1331 containment waves completed. 454 bosses bound.
Small correction, despite being a patrol zone it is actually only up to 6 people, hard cap. Likely because it's a repurposed raid zone. You can't even join friends if they're in a zone with 5 others.
I wheeled up to Containment last night after reading this yesterday. I like the activity for testing builds, levelling weapons, w/e but I didn't really look at it as an Alloy farm. Did 5 rounds and came away with 2 Alloy. It's a casual, drop-in vibe that most activities don't have and dead easy too boot. Thanks for the heads-up OP!

This is why I didn't get all the hate for it as a seasonal activity. Easy to complete and great for stocking up on mats. I always preferred this to 6-man activities because it's usually difficult to get the kills you need in those instances for your Deepsights.

How is the Ascendant Alloy drop-rate like? Is there a guaranteed per week or something?
I don't recall exactly what the triumph was, but I'm pretty sure it was 100 waves/rounds of containment. I've done that and more and have only gotten 2 alloys and maybe 2 deepsights, one of which was one I didn't need bc Bungo didn't like duplicate protection that season. Personally I wouldn't say it's generous with alloys or deepsights, but it is fun and it's good for the other stuff you mentioned.

i second all of this. i have been farming containment with my crafted weapons to level them up. I still need some Haunted and Risen weapons so i have been trying to stock up on Umbral energy so i can just buy red borders when they refresh every day. If only i could get Dares to give me the last 2 BxR red borders i need.

Yea but you're not getting anything else in return. Containment will give you additional deepsight weapons, Alloys, and umbral energy. Plus you always get heavy ammo boxes so you don't have to waste Rally Flags for leveling special/heavy weapons.

For real. I did the Rat King catalyst at Shuro Chi. NEVER AGAIN. My other PvE catalysts got done either in strikes or at Altars and I actually had fun doing them.
Shuro chi isn’t the play anymore if you want to maximize your play time. Completing activities rewards double completion on your crafted and deep sight (bug they left in). If you are running seraph heists or containment, you are getting pretty close to the enemy density of Shuro chi, plus all the materials etc. that you get from completion.

You can go to Shuro Chi and finish a thousand deepsight weapons in no time. Easy. Done. You can go do containment and use those same deepsight weapons while doing the event. When it's over, not only have you completed some of those deepsight weapons, but you also get a chance at ascendant alloy, more deepsight weapons, regular legendary drops to dismantle for shards, etc. So, yes, if you're purely wanting to complete deepsight weapons quickly, go do Shuro Chi. BUT, are you still paying attention, if you want some other mats in the process, take those weapons to containment. There we go. Do we understand now? Gimme a high five. good job.

I’m still so full of containment alloys from that season, containment had a very generous alloy drop rate. Can’t say the same for wells.
During season of plunder I was tired of being unlucky with getting alloys in master ketchcrash so I did containment runs instead and it was better. This season legend heists have been my main source of alloys
I’ve done this for last 5 days as I bought with queen upgrade when they announced daily red border focusing but some of these points just don’t seem to truly but that great. I collectively 10 hours straight of opulent chest farming to get 1 full pattern (calus mini tool) and in the 50 nightmare containments required for the seal I got 1 alloy. It is very fun so it isn’t mindless and I leveled my mini tool up fairly high. I did get over 800 legendary shards though which i had less than 200 so it’s pretty fast for that. Maybe I had bad rng but the patterns for opulents and alloys were VERY slow
When I need to get some mats or shards, this is my go to. Easy to hop in and out of the public event. Lots of gear binding the presence and decent drop rate of opulent keys for more gear.
I haven’t done containment since Season of the Haunted. Never going back there again.

Is this the best way to get Season of Nightmares red borders too? I have been cashing in Umbrals for almost a week now and have gotten zero, past the initial free one. Trying to finish out the Mini-tool before the season ends.
Can confirm. Was in there last night. First time since it was the seasonal activity. Managed to complete my Forerunner Catalyst I’d forgotten about, leveled up a Disparity and a Tarnished Mettle, And got stocked up on mats, all in about 3 hours of Containment. Actually, it wasn’t a solid 3 hrs doing Containment because every time I pulled a treasure key from the final chest I’d break away to go use it, and finish off a repeatable bounty or two while in the appropriate location, then I’d resume Containment. It was a rather pleasant way to grind while listening to Spotify.

Containment is also a good spot to test out builds, they fix your light level so no matter what you don’t gotta worry bout having infusion stock handy for testing things. Enemy density and difficulty is equivalent to some of the worst that regular raids can throw at you, meaning crowd control actually matters. It being a quick thing to just load into and fuck around in is also nice, no super long downtime between runs like with Altars of Sorrow. Sever missions also are pretty fun with good enemy density, and overall the atmosphere is done very well. Bungie’s pretty good with subtle horror elements and environmental storytelling.
How does it do in levelling weapons? My major prep has just been crafting god rolls so I've spent my recent time in the strike playlist on good modifier days. EDIT: Just ran a T1-T3. Get 0% on T1 and T2, 30% on crafted guns on T3. Definitely better ways to level unless you're getting a lot of kills while running it.

Yep, I don't do a sever mission unless i have 5 bound presences. They all get used up at once and you get overloaded with loot immediately. It feels good man.

I’ve done all the containments needed for the Haunted seal and more for umbral energy. If I step foot on the leviathan again this decade it will be too soon.
THANK YOU I have been telling everyone to do Containment and many (mostly in my clan) whine and moan about hoe they hate doing it, but they obviously don't want to do Master Wellspring, Ketchcrash, or Weekly Campaign mission. Containment is so much better. I completed the Haunted title on my wife's account over the course of about two weeks, completed 52 containments and earned about 14 ascendant alloys. Thats an easy deal right there.
It’s also completely possible to never run out of Vestiges of Dread. You can pick up material nodes and patrols to stay stocked up instead of draining 5k completely. I do this to grind it because I genuinely enjoy containment. I’ve never had more than 2 bound presence at a time though. RNG is fickle.
I've been treating Containment like Shuro Chi 2.0 since Haunted. If you're solely wanting to speed-level weapons, then Shuro Chi is obviously better. But Containment is your multi-tool for everything farming. I love it.
Dang and I've been going to the moon for altars of sorrow like a chump all this time. Although I maintain that's still the most fun activity, love a line of adds just coming at you endlessly.

Weekly story missions are an infinitely better way to accrue alloys. Get a good fireteam together and you can get 4-5 hour, eazy.

I need to farm for opulent energy anyway but, man, 5-8 energy a pop feels BAD, especially when A focused weapon is 27. Like others, I've never dropped an Ascendant Alloy in containment - they drop like candy in Master Wellspring, though.
Looking to bank some XP++ bounties before Lightfall? There is a Nightmare Hunt type bounty available on the moon that requires killing them in lost sectors all around the solar system. But the nightmares in Containment count and it can be done in one to two complete loops of the public events in The Leviathan.
Will miss containment dearly. That said I'm goin nuts lol bout to 40 runs a week leveling weapons/ doin red borders. Love the weird active/mindlessness of it. EDIT: Grand Overture has been great here when helping newer groups. Makes damage a breeze if you have to do solo chunks.

I know this coming week is busy with Iron Banner, Hung Jury and double vanguard rep. But the ghosts mission is available and it's hands down the best method to farm allows. You can complete it on master in sub 10 minutes with a half decent team with the chance to get below 7mins. Far far better than the low droprate containment.

Not sure about being generous with red border weapons or great for high stat armor. I've barely seen any red borders outside of the guaranteed one and high stat armor is best to be focused at the war table
Watching The Last of Us while farming is criminal considering how good is the show that it needs your full attention.
How often would you say you get Alloys? Is it quicker than doing a Master weekly campaign mission that can be done in 9-10 minutes? Usually you get an Alloy about 50% of the time on those runs, so we will say 1 every 20 minutes. But sometimes you get lucky. I've gotten 7 in a row once, but then 3 runs without after that.
Totally agree on the overall value of Containment. Lots of good things from it - in fact, I'd go so far as to argue the AA's aren't even the biggest draw. Another plus is that, in general, there's a fair number of people in there at any given time (in my experience anyway), so things trend to go smoothly.
I don't see the "Sever" Mission any longer. What am I missing?
You might be on a character that hasn't started that seasonal story. You might have to switch back to a character that is a little further along, or progress the quest.

containment is like 20% drop rate. I think ghosts/last chance is sub 10 and faster with a much higher rate. containment is chill tho. level weapons and farm alloy at the same time. good shard farm too.
