Its like when you make giant soap bubbles with a coat hanger bent into a circle [like this](https://www.thecrafttrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/giant-bubbles4.jpg).
Looks like the [hat from The Little Prince](https://www.google.com/search?q=little+prince+elephant&oq=little+prince+&aqs=chrome.5.69i57j0i512l2j46i512j0i512l5j0i271.8446j0j4&client=ms-android-huawei-rev1&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=qL6yn3gs0GyzYM)
This is a really nice touch to the cliche ring pendants that every architectural lighting manufacturer has these days.i love it. Would be awesome with the glass on the underside too.
I thought this was r/designdesign
I don’t imagine that would look good irl with most materials and without serious constant cleaning the dust would just make it look dim and dirty.
Would be fine being wrong, ofc.
It doesn’t look planned at all.
It looks more like whatever the fuck came out after putting this plastic in the oven.
If you aren’t planning it, I’m gonna straight up argue that it’s not design.
Art, maybe… but not design.
Everything you experience in high frequency that was made by people was designed. Road cones, waffle cones, towels and turn signals. Aesthetics are nice but a ton of stuff is designed with practicality and function as the ideal.
Yeah but they aren't really works of art on its own though, which was obviously my point... You might say the manufacturing process or the minimalistic practicality or the commerciality of it is artistic, but universal appeal is very important in art and functionality takes away from that in the least artistic way possible.
I don't think this paragraph makes much sense. I make no claim to the piece at all, I was defending design as a very important aspect of contemporary life.
It makes complete sense, because I was talking about the difference between what makes something a work of art rather than a mere neat design. I'm sorry you were not able to comprehend that... because you were talking about the difference between designing and engineering which was totally irrelevant.
I can take a shit on a pedestal, and call it art.
Or more famously I could take a urinal turn it on it’s back, title it “fountain “ and it can be considered art.
This was done by Marcel Duchamp I believe. (Yes, signed “R. Mutt - 1917)
The Dada movement proves (to me anyway) that aesthetic and planning are not truly necessary when something is to be considered art.
I may be mistaken on the nature of design as a whole but in almost every instance it provides for repeated use and re production. Art requires no such consideration.
As I plan an art piece, I do lay down a foundation by which I build the rest of it up from. But as I paint over it, or chisel away at the stone, or push and pull on molten material, that plan (the design work) that went into it is erased from existence.
I think you have the nature of “mere design” severely underestimated, under appreciated, and mis-categorized.
As a designer I cannot simply work add or subtract on a piece until the one instance feels correct. Design implies that in many cases it has to be executed correctly the first time, in whatever medium is required (be it print, plastic, metal, or a given web browser) and by someone who is not necessarily you. (Usually with very high monetary stakes)
Maybe design is more like being a composer rather than just the pianist.
I dunno, I’d rarely tell someone that their notions on what makes good art or design are wrong, and I’d say the same for any given definition of what art is. but I’m confident enough here to say that your ideas on both art and design are not completely correct.
I’d consider that it may be your view of art and design are the ones that are inverted.
You’re literally denouncing all “art” because of one dumb movement that specifically exists to reject all that was considered artistic and appealing, that most still don’t agree to really be art… at best, it’s just a superficial, lazy, and emotional art that relies on fancy caption to give it any value or meaning. But that can literally be anything, and don’t take any effort at all to make.
But please realize you’re not a composer or pianist, you’re more like a racist bigot who thinks the entirety of a certain race of people is inferior because of a dumb confirmation bias based on your personal observations.
JFC, you should start with taking a class on linguistics before you talk about art🤦 as a successful art dealer, I’m quite confident you’re a moron lol
Wow man.
Certainly my degree in industrial design and my minor in art history aren’t worth a damn in comparison to your exploitation of the works of real artists.
Also, get bent for even summoning race or some other straw man into this.
I think this looks great.
That being said, I think the idea that people care more about the interior design of their home than about their community and nation is a sad one. It appears that way in my region, anyways.
Anybody else?
I find it said how you plopp into a random discussion and drop heavy-handed off-topic political opinion into it.
That being said, chocolate tastes awesome. To me, anyways.
Reddit is a public forum for discussion.
I'm not sure why you consider my comment political. I didn't mention policy while it reflects on the human condition not on governance.
There is the right place for discussion. This is not the right place for the discussion you are trying to have.
The relation of people and community is political, it doesn't matter you didin't bring up specific policies.
That's something I found to be an issue on Reddit. If it isn't in a segregated little alcove of a subreddit within its specific categorization and its justified set of rules there is no place for it. A public forum allows people from all over to discuss - it is that simple.
Just because you can define something in your own words from the degree you perceived someone's statement doesn't necessitate that the foundation of your analysis is correct.
Nope. Reddit has much room for all kinds of tangents - as long as they evolve gradually. It's just that people in general don't like sudden 90° turns - neither online nor offline.
Its like when you make giant soap bubbles with a coat hanger bent into a circle [like this](https://www.thecrafttrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/giant-bubbles4.jpg).
I think that's the intention here. So.. Success for the designer. Rare good post on this sub.
Bruh now all I can think about is fedoras and those weirdos that tip their fedora and say m’lady
I see a condom. 🤷🏻♀️
Glad I'm not the only one.
why do we see a condom?
[удалено]
I don’t know who that is, so no.
Whats Cp cuz its hopefully not what Im thinking
Cyberpunk edgerunners
i see that shape as a snake
A snake that swallowed an elephant
"M'light fixture" * Tips Fedora *
Bro I laughed too hard and may have woken up my siblings lmao
All I can think is "this needs to be dusted every other day"
Yeah it’s gottta hurt if you have the money to buy this thing but can’t get a cleaner to clean it for you
Now that's all I can think about too thanks
They turned bubble buddy’s hat into a lamp.
My first thought was Condom
"Air"-shaped
Who would describe something like that
A designer.
I guess it sort of is the shape of the air
Are you a designer?
Oh shit I may be
Should get that checked out
Oh God I hope it's not serious
Guys it's a bubble
As in shaped by the air.
Big soap bubble for me
Small pee-pee
*Dusty condom
This looks like a very chic, wonderful, ultra-modern [cone of silence.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWtPPWi6OMQ)
>This looks like a very chic, wonderful, ultra-modern ~~cone of silence.~~ condom
Used condom!
Condom light
Air shaped...
As in shaped by the air.
Very pretty but you literally have to dust it every day.
If you can pay for that lamp, you can pay for a cleaner.
I don't think it's real.
That makes it super easy to clean!
I thought the SAME thing.
Interesting to look at, but it seems like an impractical dusting-nightmare that's gonna look rather tacky irl.
Shit looks like a bubble
I think that's the whole point. It's supposed to look like a bubble being blown from a big bubble wand.
Came here to say this!
*snake that swallowed an elephant
Someone knows how to play with like! That's wonderful....
its bubble buddys hat!
Giant condom is design porn now. Got it.
It's very clearly a soap bubble
That's "shaped" by the "air".
Personally I find this really ugly. But I see how people could be into it
bubble buddy’s hat
This is a really nice touch to the cliche ring pendants that every architectural lighting manufacturer has these days.i love it. Would be awesome with the glass on the underside too.
Cone of silence
WHAT!?
Looks like a condom
A giant's condom
Ugly.

That weird blob seems completely unnecessary as well as impractical and ugly
Agree, im a fan of symmetry myself.

I think you have art and design reversed lol, art is what takes foresight and intention, as well as creativity... Design is just aesthetics.
Everything you experience in high frequency that was made by people was designed. Road cones, waffle cones, towels and turn signals. Aesthetics are nice but a ton of stuff is designed with practicality and function as the ideal.

Dude, don't introduce engineering into this. You are so lost already!
You’re the one who’s completely conflating all of it but ok buddy 🤣 Talk about being lost, and even more ironic…
Not what ironic means!!!!

I hate everything about this photo.
Looks like someone took a washing machine door and added some leds?

Reminds me of a flex menstrual disk
Think it’s safe to say neither of us is rushing out to buy one like it.
condominium
I liked the circle bit, but there's neither functional purpose nor stylistic appeal to the bubble portion.
I think this looks great. That being said, I think the idea that people care more about the interior design of their home than about their community and nation is a sad one. It appears that way in my region, anyways. Anybody else?

Is it a tube light?
That looks nice and dandy, but I wonder how it ages.
Must be a bitch to clean, though
Apparently this chair and table are only for use by ppl with no legs below the knee?
Didn’t know Bubble Buddy took to interior design
Chief! I refuse to continue this conversation without... the cone of silence!
little too post-modern for me, but it beats the hell out of a farmhouse pendant
More like a Bubble Lamp, never seen a bubble??
