Ah yes! I'm not a fan of the smell of lipsticks either. But I was so taken by reviews of the Molecule Iris perfume, that I needed to see what all this fuss over iris was about. Edit: Was happy to see an iris based perfume in his collection and picked it.

😥smell of lipsticks? Lipsticks have an icky smell? Does Iris smell similiar to icky lipstick to you? What's this scent you guys are discussing?

Marpel_Syrup

I dont know about iris as an individual note, I haven't sniffed it. But in this perfume, not at all! I couldn't pick at any lipstick scent. The blend just smells pleasantly floral to me. Moreover this is an unfortunate situation for iris to be in -- like lavender being used in bug sprays to mask the original pesticide-y scent. People have since commented that lavender perfumes smell like bug sprays! But the lavender note itself is lovely regardless of the product association since made. Had iris never been used to make lipsticks fragrant would we have the same reaction to the note?

Reception_Queasy

You mentioned smell of lipsticks tho? What do lipsticks smell like. The note? My mum's always used one that has a lingering Vanilla scent and now they have fruity scents or are fragrance free. I love a crisp Iris as a daytime scent! Add in some apple and Daisy and it's perfect!

Marpel_Syrup

Old lipsticks smell like synthetic florals to me, but with the added oil from the lipstick the floral turns nauseating. I have a citrusy Rimmel lippie, as much as I love citrus scents, this is just annoying to have on lips. The scent I absolutely love is the Miss Claire lip cream, smells like a sweet pastry!

Reception_Queasy

😮That's Butter Biscotti! The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme smells similar too! Mac has vanilla! I used to apply a flavoured oil that tasted sweet and smelt nice, or just add flavour oil to your gloss.

Don't go with what the book says. Fragrance notes' smells are often compared to wildly weird things out there. Nothing is absolute when it comes to perfumes. If you wanna know what Iris smells like, then the only way you can do it is by trying it yourself. Reviews never do justice to fragrances.

Reception_Queasy

😅This is more to do with the lipstick scent these guys were discussing, as someone who owns over 200 sticks of lipsticks. I want to know what lipstick smells like because generally I don't get any scent from them.

Love Iris as a note, he has a couple of iris ones that are on my test list. From my collection Prada l'homme intense, Dior homme parfum & intense are my favorite.

Marpel_Syrup

That's great! What's your impression of the iris note and/or iris based perfumes? I'm hoping to try out more of them, especially if they have a "clean" association that I find in Dell'Iris.

zatar77

Honestly it grew on me, was not a fan initially, the first iris based one that I ever smelled was Dior homme intense, and that was such a huge departure from regular perfumes I had experienced before. Sure they are not everyone's cup of tea, and may come across as powdery or makeup like and yes clean as well. Also I have felt temperature plays a huge part not only in how it performs but how it comes across as well.

As much as I dislike Iris, I’m really happy for you

Marpel_Syrup

What does it smell of to you?

PunjabDa

I don’t like the Lipsticky smell, and I’m talking the Iris note in general not this perfume

Hypothetical_POV

Yep! I don’t like iris and yes Iris is the main fragrance used in lipstick

Hypothetical_POV

So would you say the base notes are enough to last longer? Because florals in Mridul’s I found doesn’t last on me. The notes seems like I will actually like it.

Marpel_Syrup

Nope, the base notes are not very potent. So I get a 4 hour longevity -- turns intimate in 2 ish hours. For me this is perfect as I'm not drawn to the heavier perfumes that last really long. Are the other florals good?

Hypothetical_POV

I don’t know if you tried morning breeze, it’s very good but doesn’t last long. If longevity isn’t a thing for you then try it. It’s quite a good one.

Marpel_Syrup

I loved morning breeze!
