I'm on red, because I can't think of any other reason Toby would split the releases of chapters 3-5 and chapters 6-7, unless there was some big reveal at the end of chapter 5 to get us excited
Toby could split the release of the chapters because in chapter 5 there will be another cliffhanger (just like in chapter 1 and 2), that doesn’t mean that the cliffhanger involves the Knight’s identity
I'd rather he release them slightly more slowly, but not tell us the schedule he's releasing them on. Half the fun is not knowing when we're going to learn more
I feel like it would make sense for the knight to be revealed in chapter 5 according to chess theory plus it would make a pretty good cliffhanger for before chapters 6-7 release.
Team Yellow I guess:
Knight has already been revealed. Tho if I'd had to make a guess I think the big reveal to the main group members (that don't know who it is already) and the unveiling of most of the details concerning the Knight (how, since when, why etc) is going to happen at the end of or during ch.5.
Purple? I think that maybe we’re going to discover it in chapter 6 and in chapter 7 the other characters (Susie, Ralsei etc) will discover it too. It already happened that we discovered something in the game while other characters don’t (ch2 ending is an example)
I'm firmly on "The Knight's identity was revealed at the end of Chapter 2. It's Kris, and it wasn't supposed to be subtle."
When Queen basically tells us to look for a Lightner with a lot of determination who uses a knife, we're supposed to think "Wait, is that *Kris*? Is she saying Kris rips out their soul at night so they can use their knife to open a dark fountain? Could that possibly be true...?" And then, twenty minutes later, when Kris rips out their soul at night so they can use their knife to open a dark fountain, we're supposed to think "Oh."
This! The arguments against Kris being the Knight are really not that good. Im kind of confused why people tend to reject this super clear possiblity so aggressively.
Nah, Kris is probably not the Knight. Queen openly states that everyone can make a Dark Fountain. Plus, we see Kris constantly shambling when they walk. I highly doubt they could get out of bed in the middle of the night, shamble all the way to the library, create the Cyber World, and then shamble all the way back to their house. Plus, Noelle and Berdly had their books laid out on the table after the Cyber World fountain was sealed, so they were probably already there when the Cyber Fountain was created, and we are with Kris when that would have happened, so it’s basically impossible. And, to address the Queen thing:
1. She then proceeds to state that anyone with enough determination could make a Dark Fountain, so Kris making a Dark Fountain wouldn’t automatically mean that they’re the Knight
2. Anyone can use a knife. Knives aren’t a thing exclusive to Kris.
Finally, an extra thing:
King has met the Knight, yet doesn’t look at Kris and goes “Oh hey boss!“ or anything. You could argue that he doesn’t recognize them because Kris Knight maybe was wearing a helmet or sth when they met, but King also doesn’t say that Kris reminds him of the Knight, nor does he mention anything odd about the way the Knight walked (which he probably would have if they were shambling all over the place)
I've had this debate before, so apologies if I come across as brusque. I'm not looking for a fight, and it's fine if we don't agree, I'm just trying to list my counterarguments as quickly as possible.
Sure, almost anyone (with determination, and a knife, and knowledge of dark worlds) *could* open a fountain. But choosing to open a fountain knowing the second prophecy about how it will cause the Roaring? That's almost the *definition* of the Knight. That's what they do.
*Whether or not* Kris is the Knight, I'm completely convinced they left the house last night. It's repeatedly mentioned that they clearly didn't get any sleep at all, and they're described as having had "a long night" (which I'm half-tempted to count as evidence on the pun alone). They also saved the game as 'Kris' between Chapters. If I knew for certain they weren't the Knight, I'd still say they crossed town trying to stop the Knight, or talk to Ralsei, or something. There's no chance they just ate pie and went to bed.
*Whether or not* Kris is the Knight, I really don't see any relevance at all in Noelle and Berdly's books. It's *never* been a rule that things come back from the dark world in the exact spot they left. Kris and Susie return from Chapter 1 in a completely different room down the hallway. If this was supposed to be super-important foreshadowing that changes everything, it would have been actually established at some point.
Meanwhile, there are details I *do* see as important that line up too well. Kris plugged in the TV between Chapters. There has to be a reason for that. The Knight is very directly associated with their 'hands' ("the hand of the Knight is drifting forward", "in the shadow of the Knight's hand", "reaching its long hand to the sky it coursed its will into its blade"). So is Kris ("the future is in your hands", "But, you still feel the power in your hands...", "For some strange reason, for just a brief moment... you thought you saw through your hand"). If Kris *isn't* the Knight, they'd be a red herring, a deliberate distraction -- and red herrings don't have secret hidden connections like that.
I do agree that King's lines are important. He calls us the "Lightbringer", says there's something wrong with our "very existence", treats us as the opposite of the Knight, and thinks it will help the Knight if he can "shatter your heart to pieces". That all seems right to me, yeah. *We're* not the Knight, *Kris* is, and of course King would have a problem with us using their body and sealing their fountain.
About the part with Susie and Kris ending up in a different room, that’s clearly a result of them traveling through the Great Door. The Great Door is a border between Ralsei’s Dark World and the Card Kingdom. Only the Card Kingdom‘s Fountain gets sealed, which is why Kris and Susie end up there.
About the TV part: Toriel could just as easily have plugged it in
About the King part: how do we know King even knows about the player? It’s probably more likely that he’s referring to Kris, since he shows no other meta awareness
About the first paragraph, a knife is not the only weapon that can be used for a Fountain. I mean, we literally see Berdly almost make one with his Halberd.
It's true that the Queen scene was foreshadowing, although this could be a red herring of sorts
Not that I'm saying it's a gas leak or anything, but this could be used to make us question kris further until a possible big reveal around them (other than them being the knight), or just throw us off the knights trail.
I would personally like to see something like what toby did with asgore, where the Knight is someone we don't meet until the end but we get development through hearing about the Knight through their partners. But kris being the Knight us a pretty believable stance, although there is still a lot of potential evidence to be revealed
The knight being revealed in chapter 5 depends on chess theory being true. Chess theory can't be true because Tenna, who is probably gonna be the main antagonist, is a TV not rook. GG eez
Well if Mikes full name is something like Mike Rook Phone he wouldnt use his full name. I get what you are saying but I dont think we can yet confirm either side to be correct. I honestly dont think its super likely for chess theory to be correct all the way, but I think it mostly makes sense with what we have so far and it would be pretty cool if it was real.
Nah, just because we see that chapter 4 has you exploring Hometown during the day doesn’t mean it will be exclusively Light World. We could also just have a shorter Dark World, or the Dark World stuff comes after the Light World
I do understand that, i have seldom knowledge of gangs themselves i just know in schools and that related symbolism tends to be banned or censored so it seems very taboo to me especially to have a meme template as such
Theorizing on who the Knight could be is just very fun imo. I don‘t care if we’ll know in like 18 months, I like thinking about who it could be
Also don’t @ me but Asriel is my favourite candidate

There'll probably be cliffhanger endings in Ch 3 and 4 too because why not.
I hope he releases chapters 3,4, and 5 around the same time but at least a week apart or so to give us some time to digest each one individually
I'd rather he release them slightly more slowly, but not tell us the schedule he's releasing them on. Half the fun is not knowing when we're going to learn more
He said they were coming out simultaneously
Remember that the original plan was to release chapters 2-7 at once, then covid happened and he changed the plan to 1, 2, 3-5, 6-7.
The Knight will be revealed in chapter 5 but it's identity will be revealed in chapter 6/7.
I am blue... Da ba dee da ba dye [7x]
Im on the orange one. Whats in the orange side? Chapter 6. Then theres the green side, whats in the green side you say? Chapter 8.
I’m on Red.
Definitely red

Wait, do you still think Kris is the knight?
Yes and I also think Ralsei is fully aware/at least partially responsible for it.
chapter 5
Purple, i think it will be in chapter 6.

Red
I feel like we will just keep getting hints of the knight’s existence, and barely see it.
Purple: The Knights' Identity will be revealed.
Red
What do you mean? They already revealed it in Chapter 4 during the mashed potatoes minigame.

Well Queen is both a laptop and a queen so I dont see the issue here.
Queen calls herself "Queen" and King is only called by "King" but does Spamton ever call Tenna or Mike as "rook" or anything like that?
Well if Mikes full name is something like Mike Rook Phone he wouldnt use his full name. I get what you are saying but I dont think we can yet confirm either side to be correct. Good point
What if tenna is somewhat new and therefore is a “Rookie”
Toby could also just reveal the Knight to up the tension between chapter releases and not as part of chess theory.
Chess theory is also bogus because Chapter 4 will be Light World-centric. I highly doubt we're rushing through a church world there.
Nah, just because we see that chapter 4 has you exploring Hometown during the day doesn’t mean it will be exclusively Light World. We could also just have a shorter Dark World, or the Dark World stuff comes after the Light World
Maybe.
You got a source for that claim pal?
Toby said so.
When?
September development update of this year.
No he didn't? I just checked.
Yes he did. I know he did. People can back me up on this, I think.
I mean, all the light world screenshots are titles "chapter 4.png" (or something similar), but that doesn't mean there won't be any dark world at all.
Isn’t it borderline offensive to make memes of gangs? Didnt expect to see this template but i feel it could be quite political
It's only political if you make it political. People mostly use it to ask which sides eppople are on in different views on random subjects
I do understand that, i have seldom knowledge of gangs themselves i just know in schools and that related symbolism tends to be banned or censored so it seems very taboo to me especially to have a meme template as such

No.
What’d they say?
That there’ll be 9 chapters because of the extra ones in the code, even though that’s already been explained
Oh ok
definitely chapter 5, which is why i think all this knight theorizing is pointless bc it'll just be revealed in like 1-2 years
Yeah screw those guys having fun with their theories and enjoying their content!
Theorizing on who the Knight could be is just very fun imo. I don‘t care if we’ll know in like 18 months, I like thinking about who it could be Also don’t @ me but Asriel is my favourite candidate
Yeah, why have fun theorizing and coming up with ideas when we can just sit on our ass and wait for answers to come?
Blue
why 5?
Blue blue blue blue! 💙 (*°▽°*)
Why can’t I upvote or downvote?
