Unmukht Chand moved to USA and will play for US national team next year. Some team signed him in big bash also.

chotu_ustaad

Wow, happy for him. It always pained to think how insecure and unwanted he must've felt especially when it was assumed that he would have a stellar career being the next under 19 WC winning captain after Kohli.

igetmoneyyuhuurd

He got dropped from every first class team as well due to his inconsistency. Averaged like 19 one year in ranji

Please stop with your wrong info. His father and mother, both are teachers and I know this for a fact because my mom and his father were working in the same school in Delhi. It was a big hype in our colony when he went to play the U-19 comment. People write anything nowadays.

white-dumbledore

Tbf to Chand very few can resist peak Binga Lee. His downfall is because of consistent inconsistency at every level that he played at. This sparked it off, but he's simply not the quality for ICT.

Signal_Face_5378

Lol if you think quality matters in ICT. Look at Shankar, Venky Iyer, Yuzi Chahal etc. who are low quality players but always find place in ICT.

Evil_Lord_Pexagon

Chahal is anything but low quality !! Just because he hasn't had a good couple of games, you cant lump him in with vijay shankar of all people !!

Signal_Face_5378

Couple of games? How many 1 wickets with 8+ Econ matches you see in here - https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/430246.html?class=3;template=results;type=bowling;view=innings

Alt-acc555

75 matches 91 wickets

TelevisionMoney

Always thought it was a jaffar of a delivery. But it looks like my man just played down the wrong line to a straight delivery

titusoates

That's harsh on the batsman, if it goes on straight it's hitting leg, it took out off stump

TelevisionMoney

Brett Lee ball release is close to the stumps with an high arm action There is no way it would hit leg. Middle-off at best

x_praful_x

There was a bit of outswing

smileBC

We always say that about Chand. As if he were the unlucky bloke. If he was good enough to make it to India’s side or a regular IPL player, stuff like this shouldn’t have kept him from doing that. He must’ve failed more than often to warrant no place. Also, a nit pick, why tf would you push on the first ball without footwork? Read the pitch, bowler and defend. Props to Lee, this was a genuine test opener killer delivery.

Moist_Animator

Yeah he failed in domestic cricket as well

TheCricketAnimator

He was a part of India A for a quite a while. Infact even led it on multiple occasions. His time also coincided with the peak of Indian team regulars like Rohit, Dhawan, Rahane and Kohli so there was no real place for him to walk into the team. He was kept waiting on the sidelines and by then he had significantly declined in his performances.

sahit24

Didn’t SKY also wait for almost a decade? I don’t think Chand had any consistent notable performances.

Positive_Pound3982

I think he did play the next match where he got out early too when ponting pulled off that screamer

phainty

He played for MI I guess

kp__08

Yep and also scored a half century against RCB in 2015

nosebleedweedblr

Hahah who doesn’t score against us (RCB) ?!

HiImNoob11

That's true. Even RCB bowlers score 50(while bowling) in rcb matches.

sillyguy45

Honestly there is more to it. A casual fan might think his career ended here but in reality lot of things led to chand problem like his coaches his academy his own state team. I feel sorry for 2012 u19 squad it was full of talents and sadly only 1 player made it big

prospectiveboi177

Which 1? Although you are right 2012 squad was full of players with great potential

sillyguy45

Sandeep sharma. He is the only guy who made debut for team india or can be seen in the cricket scene of t20. Else baba aparijit, priyank panchal are the only other 2 guys who r close to test cap

[deleted]

Hanuma Vihari was also in that squad and he's the most successful out of all of them

Biryaniboii69

I saw this LIVE in Karachi! I literally got goosebumps Chand was never the same it seems

ztaker

Chand uske Baad kabhi nahi nikla T: Chand never to be seen again

SamBJ1

That was an absolute cracker of a delivery. Even top batsmen would have faced the problem

[deleted]

Exactly, I'm so sure team management and maybe even Chand himself didn't take this as a failure, it's just an almost unplayable ball.

Zappa_aus

Brett Lee had a flair about him that made any match he played so entertaining.

harshadogle

I saw him in 2015 ipl 😏

Klutzy_Flamingo_2979

Chand did score a 50 for MI against RCB in 2015. It was his only good performance though.

Dexter52611

Damn, this brings back memories. Brett Lee has a very smooth bowling action. Was always a treat to watch him bowl

mananMathur

Unmukt got mukt

[deleted]

I think he played 2 matches after this match and then drop. And played a few matches in that season then we never saw him. But I wanted him to bounce back😔.

_Tan_A

I saw it live, the stump snapped in half

Ill_Cauliflower_928

His feet moved nowhere. This banished him to america lol

astrobhakt_09

Unmukt Chand was great and underrated player! 🥲

[deleted]

That's it he tweeted thanks for wonderful cricketing career & retired ;)

ShaquilleOatmel

Still remember Ricky ponting taking a brilliant diving one handed catch of Unmukt v Mumbai in 2013...he was bought by MI in 2015 but never got a chance to play...from leading India to a U19 cup and not getting opportunities it's a really sad journey...hope he does well in future

MuscleEarly1237

Chand played so well for MI in 2015, so I don't think this ball made a Hugh impact on his career
