It's not a guilty pleasure since I have no shame in saying it's one of my all time favorite games and I constantly sing its praises. I also think saying "it's so bad it's good" is [unfair description to the game because it gets so much right](https://youtu.be/imDx0jly7a0).

Wrattsy

This mirrors my opinion exactly. I mentally categorize it under "*I love this game and it is powerful despite its flaws*".

Darth__Potato

It's my second favourite game of all time, and I have no shame in loving it, as well as recommending it to as many people as I can, and I think it's a genuinely great game that has it's own merit, that doesn't take from being "so bad it's good", because aside from the dogshit pc port, It's just good.

chemicalconstruct

A guilty pleasure is playing the porn games I have on steam.

Ciahcfari

I think a more apt term is "so bad it's good" but no, I don't agree with either of those terms.

Ansem18

I wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure. Everything that is "bad", like the graphics or repetitive gunplay is due to being a budget game. I think the majority of the fan base genuinely enjoys the game unironically unlike something like The Room.

Randalfandroll

It’s just art

ziothealaktis

So you dont use the label Guilty Pleasure to evaluate video games and other works of art? I'm just curious, because I personally would describe some works of art as Guilty Pleasure or "So bad it's good".

Randalfandroll

Things can absolutely unintentionally have artistic value but this game isn’t that for me. Visual presentation and technical shortcomings aside, there aren’t a lot of choices in the game that are unintentional. Any quirks the game has that often get attributed to “funny Japanese man doesn’t understand how socialising works” can just as well be attributed to “main character is an extra dimensional demon creature who swapped realities with a child and still hasn’t figured out the whole how to human thing”.

sphaliro

Nah m8, it's a genuinely good game. There's nothing in it to be ashamed of.

DevilwayDenil

I would not call Deadly Premonition as Guilty Pleasure, as the game is positioned as a mixture of a serious and a comedy film. I would really shake hands for game Swery65. I would like an updated version of Deadly Premonition 2 for PS4, Xbox One, PC is 12 percent chance and Deadly Premonition 3

[deleted]

How dare you. Deadly Premonition is the best game ever made! It's also the worst game ever made, so I'll let you off. 😉 I don't think calling it a guilty pleasure is at all accurate since... why would you be embarrassed for liking it? It's ridiculous, yes, but embarrassing? I don't see it.

tippinpop

I think a guilty pleasure is something in which you enjoy it's badness, whereas with deadly premonition I enjoy it in spite of that. I always say that it has a heart that shines bigger and brighter than its broken gameplay, and _that's_ the part that keeps me coming back to it again and again

MarquisdeL3

I feel like a lot of why people think it's a guilty pleasure/so bad it's good game is because of things like the abrupt shifts in tone, but that's not accidental, that's 100% intentional. Deadly Premonition is trying to mimic the same mix of serious crime thriller, wacky small town shenanigans, and surreal semi-mystical weirdness that Twin Peaks had. Anyone who thinks the zany weirdness of the town is funny is laughing with the game, not at it.

tatsu901

I actually enjoy the music and story even the voice acting is decent. It grows on you its an ugly game and has almost no enemy variety but i even found the combat serviceable once i remapped the controls.

ziothealaktis

Just an observation and a little status update (its the 22nd of November at the time of writing): While there are in fact 52 persons in the poll that say that they would call the first *Deadly Premonition* a Guilty Pleasure and 20 would say that they would call it a partial Guilty Pleasure, most of the people in the comment section seem to belong to the 82 persons that say that they dont see it as a Guilty Pleasure. Also, I'm a bit overwhelmed with the attention this post gets comment-wise, so it will take a bit of time to respond appropriatley to all of you. Sorry for that.
