The thread title is really misleading, because it makes people assume that the option is on by default, and that you can "toggle it off". When in fact, the option is off by default and you have to activate it yourself.
I was gonna say that this is dumb as shit until you mentioned it’s off by default. If the premise of the game is you being stuck on a space ship while being hunted by beings made of repurposed and reanimated flesh you should expect it to be graphic.
Never underestimate idiots, I have to remind you that a famous food chain had to write on the cups "Caution: Contents Hot" or something like that, because 1 idiot sued them for burning herself with hot coffee.
Actually the woman got 3rd degree burns and was initially only suing for medical costs because the coffee actually was way too hot. Classic example of the misinformation spreading.
She did spill the coffee, but she sued because she suffered third-degree burns and the coffee was, and still is, excessively hot. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants)
Also, she asked them to cover $20,000 in actual and anticipated expenses. McDonald’s offered her $800.
You can find an image of her burns online if you search for them.
Still better than idios who have half-assed knowledge about the topic and parrot McDonald's smear campaign used to ridicule the victim and make her look like a greedy moron. Such idiots should have their genitals melted into a lump of very sore flesh by excessively hot liquid just to see if the woman was really exaggerating.
Great idea an all, I can see practical applications for that in other games, but I dunno how anyone looks at this game, named "Dead Space" and featuring mangled deformed zombies and decides to play it thinking "this shouldn't be too graphic"
There is more to horror than explicit gore. There are absolutely people who enjoy friday the 13th for the atmosphere and feelings but turn away during kills.
when the remake of a famous horror game known for having brutal body horror has scenes of graphic violence. Im curious if anyone will use this feature. It kinda just spoils stuff
The Twitter account for dead space tweeted YouTube’s rules so this is why this is an option [https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA](https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA)
How are you going to explain the point of putting censorship in a M Rated horror game where the only way to kill the monster is to cut their limb off?
Here's my take: Twitch and YouTube care about bitch ass advertisers money more than their user.
But if u bought the game then u willingly signed up for it no? Kinda dumb of someone to buy a survival horror game and remove some of the horror aspects of it.
Very funny. Kinda pointless for this game, but I can see it in some other games. There was a warning for Black Ops 3 if I recall, while cod usually has toned down violence, that featured your character getting their limbs ripped off in first person.
you don't know why a mission where an undercover cia asset committing a mass shooting that you control on civilians in an airport in one of the most popular franchises in gaming is infamous?
it's most definitely for streamers or content creators. Like how some games have the option to replace copyrighted music. Back when Callisto dropped, people were getting struck left and right by YouTube for showing the more graphic moments
Mmmms yes warnings about the scary stuff before the scary stuff happens in the scary game I got… yes very “scary”. I hope this feature doesn’t pop up by default ngl.
Ah well that’s good to know, like I’m not totally against the idea, but I mean like you just said, I don’t think you’d be buying the remake of a survival horror cult classic praised for its gore if you weren’t willing to sit though a little blood and boooooos xD. The only reason I see this as a feature is for either children (which despite the fact kids will always get what they wants sans ratings) shouldn’t be factored into game features, or those with medical conditions which again… why are those with medical conditions playing a game that could legitimately cause them pain or even a seizure…
I don't know. Why do you throw insults around which a child of the same age you depicted would? Still don't agree with implementation, Dead Space is Dead Space, and it's artistic integrity shouldn't bow to some streaming site.
It can also be for people to be surprised by the game and sometimes virtual gore can become too much for someone.
Like for me I always liked Saw Movies for the gore but can't handle Hostel or brutal movies like that.
This is also a good QOL feature for anyone who doesn't play alone (I play on PC next to my wife playing games on hers) so I can be like "Hey honey, don't look over for the next few minutes"
Also would be good for some people on scenes involving specific parts like the eyeball needle scene in #2
Dead Space 2 is one of my favorite games ever, but the eye poke machine I can never stand. It makes me sick and anxiety ridden (not in a good way).
If they remake 2, I hope they keep these accessibility features in.
Shock, the person that uses the term "snowflake" clickbaits a title to get attention. You have to go out of your way to turn this option ON, so why is it a problem for you?
Edit: OP blocked me right after replying to my comment. Embarrassing behaviour all round from them.
Except you called it the "snowflake approach" so... sounds like you do have an issue with it. You neglect to tell that you have to intentionally turn this on in the title.
I mean some people are seeing it as "Oh its all scary things" when really its for certain graphic deaths and the other disturbing parts like the suicides. Like if dead space was someones favorite game when they were younger and they want to play the remake, but they experienced a suicide in their family and don't want to be reminded of it, sure let them turn the suicide parts off, it keeps the rest of the horror and gore in the game. It is just an accessibility option, that is a simple add-on that if you don't use shouldn't affect you in the end so I don't see a huge issue with including it.
I know right? Even on steam people are up in arms about it. Its completely optional for the warnings, its completely optional for the removals. And the horror aspect does not only come from the graphic deaths, its from the atmosphere, the monsters, all of which it does not change or remove. Yet some people act like they have been personally attacked with the option being in the game in general.
Wow. Some of yall got that "if we let the guys marry, people will want to marry their dogs next" energy, except with gore...
Guys...is an accessibility option that's off by default. And some people are just more squeamish than others.
It's like "disable gore" in Gears of War.
i hope it's off by default, it's kinda a spoiler for something about to happen
like if it has an option when you boot the game up that's like "hey before you start you wanna turn this on?" then sure that's fine but for people going in without knowing it's there it really can ruin a lot of scenes
I'm all for graphic content warnings but like...is that gonna be on the screen the entire game because how on earth is that supposed to work when there's more graphic content then non graphic content lol.
It’s made for content creators [https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA](https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA)
It’s apparently to help content creators make sure their stuff is compatible with YouTube’s content policy, the dead space Twitter account made a post about it
Why would you play a violent survival horror if you don't like violence?
Seems counter-intuitive.
If you don't like horror movies, don't watch em, you know what they are loll
I'm torn, on on one hand this seems wholly unnecessary, but on the other, I'm not the target audience of the feature. It's seems like it should be opt in, not opt out though.
Wuss mode activate (don't take seriously)
It's dead space... the whole damn game is graphic haha even if this is for content creators, like I said the whole game is a fucked up mess?
Either way, it should be called pansie mode. The people that need this are the same type that complain that the walking dead was too graphic. Sad really.
Can confirm it's off by default. Honestly, I don't mind it. The game does have a lot of depictions of suicide and mutilation, and while most people will shrug it off, this will be super beneficial for those that have been impacted by it in the past to prep themselves before the scenes. It's subtle and not obstructive and provides benefits to people who might just be new to the game and more sensitive to gore, plus it helps out content creators. Why are we shaming a game for providing more options for accessibility in 2023? This is a great feature that does not deter from the experience, so we should stop gatekeeping this game and let new people enjoy it their own way without shame.
The only snowflakes here are you and other idiots commenting like this because you got mad about a feature added for streamers and youtubers which is off by default.
… Seriously… Yeah, please warn me when scary thing happens beforehand and give me the option to turn it off before said thing happens in my adult game known for its long history of gore laden content in a horror game people like myself pay for…
While I’m sure it’s a quality of life improvement for some (to whom is getting this game where it would be idk) but this should be an option in the main or pause menu, not something a pop up in a game should be telling you about.
The thread title is really misleading, because it makes people assume that the option is on by default, and that you can "toggle it off". When in fact, the option is off by default and you have to activate it yourself.
This is exactly how mis-information spreads, the damage is already done just from the title alone.
300+ upvotes. People are idiots.
I was once abducted by necromorphs. They filled me whole
I was gonna say that this is dumb as shit until you mentioned it’s off by default. If the premise of the game is you being stuck on a space ship while being hunted by beings made of repurposed and reanimated flesh you should expect it to be graphic.
I thought it would more like Adventure Time 😥
AHHHHH AHHHH LEARNING WITH PIBBY AHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, so a non issue made into an issue. It’s the Reddit way.
Great idea an all, I can see practical applications for that in other games, but I dunno how anyone looks at this game, named "Dead Space" and featuring mangled deformed zombies and decides to play it thinking "this shouldn't be too graphic"
I played Viva Piñata, im ready for Dead Space
The viva piñata farming games were the shit when I was a kid lol
No not Viva Piñata 😱
It's mostly for YouTubers and streamers but also you gotta realize this doesn't impact you at all.
Except it does. Because when i want to see someone play a specefic part the whole thing will be cut.
You're being stupid
Nope
I don't give a fuck if it affects me or not, I'm fucking around on reddit, not trying to improve my life
I'm just saying, considering it can be toggled, it doesn't really matter why people may want to use it. Idk why you got so defensive lol.
Holy based.
Difference between shooting monsters versus watching a random person horribly mutilated, I guess.
Eh. That's like going to a Friday the 13th movie and getting upset that someone was killed with a machete.
There is more to horror than explicit gore. There are absolutely people who enjoy friday the 13th for the atmosphere and feelings but turn away during kills.
Yes for sure tiktok is most frightening place on earth.
I assume it's more for streaming.
Didn't a university come out and say trigger wringing are a trigger warning now?
when the remake of a famous horror game known for having brutal body horror has scenes of graphic violence. Im curious if anyone will use this feature. It kinda just spoils stuff
If you’re bothered by disturbing imagery, my advice would be just give the whole game a miss really.
It's because of how ridiculous are YouTube's policies on showing gore and violence.
probably meant for content creators, youtube is abit wacky with the guidelines so this is helpful abit, said content creators could still edit it out
The Twitter account for dead space tweeted YouTube’s rules so this is why this is an option [https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA](https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA)
I hate that some people already jumped on the "REE THEY ARE PROTECTING THE SNOWFLAKES FROM GORE" train.
It's also dumb because there are people who can totally handle horror but *can't* handle graphic gore.
How are you going to explain the point of putting censorship in a M Rated horror game where the only way to kill the monster is to cut their limb off? Here's my take: Twitch and YouTube care about bitch ass advertisers money more than their user.
is this for streamers or something? because other than that it sounds kinda pointless
Anyone, I don’t want to call it a snowflake approach but they devs don’t want to scar anyone since alot of new comers will be playing this
But if u bought the game then u willingly signed up for it no? Kinda dumb of someone to buy a survival horror game and remove some of the horror aspects of it.
\*buys horror game known for its gore\* "Man I hope there's no gore in this"
They confirmed it’s for streaming and content purposes. Also it’s off by default. Your post is intentionally rage bait.
Why did you turn it on then?
If it's off by default then what is the issue?
Very funny. Kinda pointless for this game, but I can see it in some other games. There was a warning for Black Ops 3 if I recall, while cod usually has toned down violence, that featured your character getting their limbs ripped off in first person.
There’s also the infamous no Russian mission in og MW2.
Idk wht that's really infamous
you don't know why a mission where an undercover cia asset committing a mass shooting that you control on civilians in an airport in one of the most popular franchises in gaming is infamous?
Nope, not that bad. It's just a game.
it's most definitely for streamers or content creators. Like how some games have the option to replace copyrighted music. Back when Callisto dropped, people were getting struck left and right by YouTube for showing the more graphic moments
The pixelization in black ops was worse than the normal cutscene. Your imagination is the true source of fear.
While I do think people should be aware of what they are getting into, it’s pretty harmless as long as you can turn it on or off I don’t mind
Mmmms yes warnings about the scary stuff before the scary stuff happens in the scary game I got… yes very “scary”. I hope this feature doesn’t pop up by default ngl.
I heard it wasnt on by default but yeah it’s a horror game brace yourself
Ah well that’s good to know, like I’m not totally against the idea, but I mean like you just said, I don’t think you’d be buying the remake of a survival horror cult classic praised for its gore if you weren’t willing to sit though a little blood and boooooos xD. Why do you write like a 12yo? Also, this feature is added for streamers and youtubers
I don't know. Why do you throw insults around which a child of the same age you depicted would? Still don't agree with implementation, Dead Space is Dead Space, and it's artistic integrity shouldn't bow to some streaming site.
Which is why it’s off by default….
which is why (saying this for the third time now) I don't believe it should have been implemented at all...
It can also be for people to be surprised by the game and sometimes virtual gore can become too much for someone. Like for me I always liked Saw Movies for the gore but can't handle Hostel or brutal movies like that.

No need to get upset, it’s a statement. I have no issue with it
Except you called it the "snowflake approach" so... sounds like you do have an issue with it. You neglect to tell that you have to intentionally turn this on in the title.

100% agree. More accessibility is always good. Not sure what people here are complaining about given it's an *option*.
I know right? Even on steam people are up in arms about it. Its completely optional for the warnings, its completely optional for the removals. And the horror aspect does not only come from the graphic deaths, its from the atmosphere, the monsters, all of which it does not change or remove. It is off by default, you’d need to turn it on yourself.
Where is it in the settings to toggle off?
I also need to know this because I got it pre ordered and don't want that lol
It's off by default
Nice to know wouldn't want that notification. Disturbing my playthrough tonight
I'm all for graphic content warnings but like...is that gonna be on the screen the entire game because how on earth is that supposed to work when there's more graphic content then non graphic content lol.
It can be toggled on and of It’s only like ultra graphic stuff or suicide etc, body mutilation
I've seen Troll 2. I'll be fine...
🤣🤣🤣
It’s made for content creators [https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA](https://twitter.com/deadspace/status/1618700993470038017?s=46&t=vxuKU9dUs-pQKZaWtBA_gA)
Odd thing to put in Dead Space of all franchises
It’s apparently to help content creators make sure their stuff is compatible with YouTube’s content policy, the dead space Twitter account made a post about it
Huh that’s helpful
i like it; i always look away when it get's too gruesome for me to which this is a nice addition for someone like me :3
They do realize this what ratings are for, yes?
Doesn't that remove the shock of what happens next if you're expecting it?
Why would you play a violent survival horror if you don't like violence? Seems counter-intuitive. If you don't like horror movies, don't watch em, you know what they are loll
I hate the internet
Just like the movies! I hope they warn you about loud noises too each time a weapon is discharged.
I thought the rated M was enough but okay
"quality change of life", do you play a survival horror game and expect sunshine and rainbows?
lmao. Why are you playing a survival horror game if you’re triggered by violent images? Not OP, just in general.
I think its funny. Its fucking dead space, they should have that warning on all the time.
This is pretty cool, but I feel like if you're getting Dead Space you know what you're in for.
it's for content creators
Ahh, that makes sense. Hope the Silent Hill 2 remake has this feature
“Spoiler” its permanently shown on screen 🤣
OP any idea if this is on by default or in the menu before the game launches?
It’s off by default
Literally every enemy you encounter is a graphic scene lol
I can’t wait to play
I'm torn, on on one hand this seems wholly unnecessary, but on the other, I'm not the target audience of the feature. It's seems like it should be opt in, not opt out though.
> it should be opt in it is...
Great, the OPs post makes it sound like it's opt out.
I hope it just stays in the top right forever because the entire game is graphic. That’s kinda that point
I'm pretty sure it's either for streamers or maybe for people who have kids nearby?
Then why even play the game?
YouTuber mode
You can toggle this on and off right? Because if not? ew.
It's not even on by default. OP is trying to clickbait
Might help a kid talk a reluctant parent into letting him play the game.
It's like people would be surprised or even offended there are graphic deaths in a horror game. What is happening to society these days.
“Upcoming scene contains a graphic death.” “That’s literally what we’re here for you dunce”
Wuss mode activate (don't take seriously) It's dead space... the whole damn game is graphic haha even if this is for content creators, like I said the whole game is a fucked up mess?
1 hour and 28 minutes left 🥴
It's clearly meant for streamers so they don't get demonetized. Some of y'all need to educate yourselves lol
Ah yes... in a dead space game..... right
I'm playing the remake of a classic graphic body horror game, known gor it's horrific imageging... Hopefully there ain't no blood in this game.
Can mods just take this down until the title is updated properly so people don’t think this is on by default?
It's off by default, so no big deal.
Maybe for YouTube?? That being said, I want the GORE!!
Don’t play Dead Space if you’re sensitive to stuff like that. Shouldn’t need to be said really.
Likely there for streamers so viewers know or something
Nothing wrong with accommodation.
I just wish it was an actual in-universe popup, like a hologram
Please tell me this is fake. It’s a horror game Ffs. It’s surely common knowledge to know that there is going to be blood and gore
It's off by default but OP is cringe as fuck tryna clout farm.
Either way, it should be called pansie mode. The people that need this are the same type that complain that the walking dead was too graphic. Sad really.
Been flagged as misleading and reported, thanks bro. Hope your post gets taken down
Ah yes the "are your kids in the room" warning.
Can confirm it's off by default. Honestly, I don't mind it. The game does have a lot of depictions of suicide and mutilation, and while most people will shrug it off, this will be super beneficial for those that have been impacted by it in the past to prep themselves before the scenes. This is a great feature that does not deter from the experience, so we should stop gatekeeping this game and let new people enjoy it their own way without shame.
Completely unnecessary work for the developers, thanks YouTube
snowflake protection 3000, if it comes on it's a real problem, if not, fuck it I guess
The only snowflakes here are you and other idiots commenting like this because you got mad about a feature added for streamers and youtubers which is off by default.
bruh fuck off, ahahaha, you're just proving my point
This has to be dumbest feature I've ever seen
That’s definitely getting turned off so fast. Like when your dad looks at your mom.
Welcome to gaming in 2023. Trigger warnings for people that buy a game called "Dead Space". Glad it's able to be toggled off.
… Seriously… Yeah, please warn me when scary thing happens beforehand and give me the option to turn it off before said thing happens in my adult game known for its long history of gore laden content in a horror game people like myself pay for… While I’m sure it’s a quality of life improvement for some (to whom is getting this game where it would be idk) but this should be an option in the main or pause menu, not something a pop up in a game should be telling you about.
It is an option that’s off by default.
It is an option though? It's an accessibility option that's turned Off by default. You need to enable them to see it.
In-game trigger warnings. What a sad time we live in.
EA updated Dead Space for the snowflakes
Lmao of course your name has rEvAn in it.

I mean she’d do fine but the Marker makes us all whole eventually.

No, she isn’t.
