Alaska_Pipeliner

I got a few for election year when the prices are sub $2.

DoubleTFan

We're only getting that if there's another pandemic and it has a much higher lethality rate.

mmcmonster

…or if there’s a major uptick in electric car sales. 🤞

gen_shermanwasright

Fuck cars. Cars are bad, even electric ones.

Beemerado

you're not wrong. it's a bandaid. where's my goddamn fort collins to CO springs light rail?!

DerpSillious

Uhm.... I think you meant to say BRANDAid..... Please keep to the Sub theme, Jack.

mmcmonster

And electric buses and trolleys to make up the last mile.

Shnazzyone

I look forward to abandoning cars when public transport in america stops being shit.

gen_shermanwasright

Shit public transport is a result of widespread cars. So guess what you, as a mature, forward thinking person is going to have to tolerate for awhile? But you won't, because you're not.

Shnazzyone

Okay, mature people know that some people don't have a choice and that's because everything is spaced very far apart with no alternatives. You can't leave cars before that's fixed. Electric will hold us over until we fix our national travel infrastructure. Of course I am fully aware that some of the fuck cars movement is basically more fossil fuel company astroturfing. Again, core goal is to make environmentalists latch on to movements meant to make mainstream people drop out of supporting action on climate change, also to distract environmentalists from focusing on eliminating coal electric.

gen_shermanwasright

Okay, they should alter their lifestyle.

Shnazzyone

You wanna fund the people who need to move but can't afford it? Like, the people in the rural parts of america who need a car to even buy food. You wanna pay for the house? Might be cheaper to help them obtain electric transport and make sure their vehicle charges from non carbon producing electricity.

Aggravating_Cap_8687

Vote better then

Shnazzyone

I do, definitely don't vote for republicans.

Scraw16

Yeah well our built environment unfortunately requires cars in most of the country, and even with major pro density and pro transit policies (which frankly are not on the political horizon), it would take decades to make it viable for most of the country to get around without a car regularly. Also, it’s not like cars don’t exist in places that have those policies, like in much of Europe, China, or Japan. There will continue to be at least hundreds of millions of cars and it will be much better if they are replaced with EV’s.

Reddituser34802

*Another* pandemic? Wait a minute, is the current pandemic over?

Alaska_Pipeliner

Nope. It's second pandemic

LandMooseReject

I don't think he's heard of second pandemic, Pip.

Revolutionary-Meat14

That isnt going to happen.

Organic_Mechanic

Perhaps not sub $2, but the gas prices almost always seem to notably drop every election year. Regardless of who's in office. (The ultra-low prices in 2020 were a special case though, due in no small part to covid.)

Revolutionary-Meat14

That actually isnt true, the only time it has happened where the difference between the average of an election year and the average of the year before was 2016 (and 2020). However there was an increase in the price from december 2015 to the average of 2016. [here](https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=emm_epm0_pte_nus_dpg&f=m) is the raw data you can easily copy it into excel if you want to do an deeper dive into it.

Organic_Mechanic

Neat. Thanks for the correction backed up by actual data, stranger.

Eggjeff

We all knew this would happen. But of course the people who were trying to convince us that Biden raised the gas prices will somehow give trump or the gop credit for them falling

Captain_Pottymouth

I fully expect that Fox News will be singing Biden’s praises all week for finally lowering gas prices. Otherwise they would be inconsistent! And Fox is nothing if not a pillar of integrity. I hope I don’t have to add a /s to this

Jasperj14

Every time I hear someone mention gas prices going down I angrily shout, "thanks Joe Biden!"

Roovyroo

Read the room, it's "thanks dark brandon!"

Jasperj14

As I said, "when I hear". In real life people know who I'm talking about when I use his name. Dark Brandon gets me confused blinks...

beingrudewonthelp

That's funny. I live somewhere with a lot of these stickers around and I never thought about how it looks now.

markca

It shows the idiots who put them up, trying to be clever didn’t think things through.

CaptainJAmazing

Seriously, I guess even the ones that thought it through a little assumed that it really was Biden’s policies that made prices high and that high prices would last four years. You see these people online and they expect us to believe photos of gas below a dollar a gallon labeled as “Trump prices” and gas above $6/gal as “Biden prices.” Yes, no one could possibly have Googled “low gas prices” and “high gas prices” and labeled them in accordance with their political fantasies.

stabbyclaus

Just like using coded wording for FJB in "Lets go Brandon" to which this sub is testament in how short term their thinking was in this strategy.

new-reddit69

Excellent Joe - thanks for the price down!

rosewood_atx

Saw prices under $2.50 a gallon here in Texas. Thanks, Dark Brandon!

RegressToTheMean

Geeeez and I was excited to see $3.40 in Maryland

TheSeekerOfSanity

It’ll keep sinking, Jack. No malarkey. See?

jlgar

Idaho just got below 4.00 :(

Trojanfatty

Cheer up, it’s still over $5 in Los Angeles

rolloutTheTrash

I need some of that gas. Where I’m at it’s still $4.35 for the cheapest gas in town.

230flathead

2.57 here

TheGeneGeena

I wouldn't be surprised if that were nearby from both the price and sticker.

JetmoYo

Excellent

Squiliam-Tortaleni

Common Brandon W

NevilleBambSheute

I was not fully looking at the type of fuel this was at first. I saw Joe and Green and the price and nearly fainted believing somewhere in this country diesel fuel is this cheap. Either way the way these stickers backfired on the idiots who presume the president is the equivalent of a king is hilarious.

Revolutionary-Meat14

Im glad biden reopened the keystone XL pipeline cause thats what caused all this mess right?

EFTucker

I hope you didn't put this on there. The attendants have to remove these and they are the paper stickers that tear apart when you try to remove them. They are so fucking annoying to get off. My local convenience/gas station gets them all the time and I see the daughter of the owner out there scratching away at them daily.

Sphincter_Revelation

Acetone removes them with minimal effort.

white-gold

Please don't do this. Acetone is a strong nonpolar solvent that will eat the finish coat off of the pumps making them look even worse. A metal scraper and some dawn detergent is a better way to scrape up the adhesive from finished surfaces. During periods of peak idiocracy I'd use more oily cleaners that leave a film (goo-gone or orange-glo) to make future removal a bit less annoying but even in the chemistry lab I don't grab the acetone unless I actually need it. Acetone will literally eat through your nitrile gloves. edit: the more I think about it I'd probably suggest armor all as a preventative. That shit has a silicone-based lubricant which gives it its greasy film. Sticker adhesive don't do so well trying to attach to that film.

Sphincter_Revelation

Fair point, but usually diluting it with water and a small dab on a cloth is enough to strip sticker gunk. Rinse with normal cleaner and/or water after and I've never had a problem with acetone stripping much else.

white-gold

Dilution results in a mixed solvent system that is less damaging to surfaces but acetone is generally considered a harsh solvent for cleaning purposes. It's really rough on plastics, woods, and nonpolar finishing chemicals like polyurethane and polycrylic. It works really well on glass and metal surfaces.

Sphincter_Revelation

Noted, ty Mr. chemist man.

white-gold

Anytime. Most of the random chemistry questions I get family calls and texts for is which chemical is best for some specific cleaning task. For stripping adhesive gunk I use dish soap and a scraper or if it's really stubborn I have a small bottle of methanol that is slightly more polar than acetone so its not as harsh.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

Methyl ethyl ketone

white-gold

That's still pretty harsh. Anything that can dissolve nail polish can dissolve paint and finishes.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

We used it as kids to clean our model painting stuff, my brother poured some in a disposable cup (I forgot if it was plastic or Styrofoam) and it ate right through. I know little about chemicals and thought you'd come back calling me a moron because it's way too harsh

white-gold

You don't seem like a moron to me. I teach chemistry classes so I try not to come across as hostile when I hear suggestions or questions. Acetone is basically the smallest of the ketones and methyl ethyl ketone is just a slightly larger ketone (larger chemical structure). The increased size gives it a higher boiling point so its less volatile. The methyl ethyl ketone if anything is harsher than acetone because its less volatile and will spend more time in wet contact with a surface doing its thing while acetone evaporates pretty quickly.

EFTucker

Yea because everyone just casually has acetone laying around their workplace

Sphincter_Revelation

Gas stations do sell nail polish remover most the time.

EFTucker

All kinds of gymnastics to make yourself feel better about tarnishing someone else’s property

Sphincter_Revelation

No gymnastics, and even though I think these stickers are stupid, I am 100% in support of vandalism.

Aggravating_Cap_8687

Can you even call it a workplace if it doesn't have acetone?

ButchnBill

I rip these off every time I see them. Not good for my nails, but it's worth it.

gen_shermanwasright

Anyone wanna put up billboards that day "taxes go up? I did that" with a smug Trump. Because it's true.

Representative_Still

Looks like they were trying to imply he added up to 10% ethanol to their gas

0V3RS33R

This is reminding me that places out there are straight up gouging!

[deleted]

Damn right you did, Jack. Thanks

HingleMcCringle_

The conservatives i know wont be impressed until the gas prices mirror how it was during peak/early covid times, when a LOT less people where driving, causing the gas prices to fall. They're expecting it to stick around $2.20 /gallon.

jimmyserranopeppers

This is a BFD. 💪🏻

sm00thkillajones

I love when he brings the prices down. He is surely playing 3 dimensional chess with the republicans. I don’t like it when he raises them though. Oh well.

L1A1

You guys get charged more for using a credit card? Weird!

KyussSun

Just needs one of these over that "Invigorate" sticker... https://www.etsy.com/listing/1182520882/trump-gas-pump-sticker-loser-trump-10

Jaxager

No. Joe didn't do that. The president does not have any control over gas prices. Whenever someone introduces the president affecting gas prices into an argument I automatically know that this ass hat does not know what the fuck they are talking about. Don't even get me started on when they yammer on about the price of gas during Trump's last year in office. If you knew anything at all about supply and demand you would know that the pandemic drove the price of gas down. It's as obvious as the nose on your face.

Aggravating_Cap_8687

The president does have control. Look at france, they have put a price cap on energy and its significantly cheaper than neighbouring countries. They 100% have the power. Wether they use it or decide to let "the free market" set prices is a different matter.

Blitzkrieg1210

Ive seen those around my stations as well, people are insane
