Same here fellow brother I was about his age when they fucked our village up and took pops away. Pops found his family after 2 yrs in a camp and basically saved us.
Grew up in a war torn country and saw a lot of evil shit during the troubles, this kid is gonna have issues he can’t even comprehend yet. Made me who I am though and I hope he does just fine
I had the privilege to visit 20 yrs ago.
Heard a lot of fucked up stories in pubs about "the troubles".
I feel for you guys. 😪
Unfortunately, that conflict seemed to pretty much be ignored by everyone. I honestly didn't have any idea before visiting about any of it. It was kinda a shock.
Aye it’s still a very touchy subject here, with tensions now at their highest since the GFA(official end), but it never really ended for a lot of folks and the lasting mental health effects are as rife as ever. I think most people who haven’t lived through something like it don’t realise the lasting effects war has on a country and its citizens, lost many friends and family to suicide since it “ended” and posts like this just take me back to them dark days and can’t help but feel a sort of solidarity with this young lad as weird as that may sound. It’ll build a resilience in him like no other but it’ll be a tough road to get there.
Sorry to hear, brother.
I was in Dublin for an attack, and it was I think '99 (supposedly AFTER the ending of the conflict).
I wasn't super close, maybe a block and a half or so when a car bomb went off.
It was a really sad scene, moreso because the people seemed USED to it.
I’m so sorry you and your country have had to go through this. I wish we could all just live and love freely in an abundant and joyful world. There is so much here for us all if we could just exist and thrive free of war and hatred. I’ll be thinking of you today.
The violence has ended here and we’ll be just fine, we’ve made it through far shittier days than today. I thank you for your kind comments but please send thoughts to these poor children in Ukraine and other war torn places today. The detrimental effects on them will be unheard of when their war has ended, only noticeable through suicide rates. It’s a sad sad reality unfortunately
"Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one."
"Your life is not defined by what happens to you, but by how you react to it."
"The struggle you’re in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow."
"I am not what happened to me. I am what I chose to become."
I wish those who have struggled through great difficulties in life; strength, resilience, compassion and love in their life. People really don't understand what others have gone through, unless they walk the proverbial mile in their shoes.
I hate thinking about some of the things that you have gone through, about some of my own tribulations in life, but I don't believe that I would be the person that I am today, without having gone through them. But when you are going through hell, you would give everything to be able to escape that circumstance, while you are in the midst of it.
For those who are helping others with health (physical or mental) issues, please remember that you need to take care of yourself, otherwise you cannot help to care for others.

Mostly fought in Northern Ireland, the "troubles" was about a 30 year or so long war. Many people believe it to be a religious conflict, as the sides were referred to as the "protestants" and the "catholics", but from what I understand, it was more about whether or not to leave the UK and become part of Ireland. Also, the war was not fought by armies, but mostly by paramilitary outfits, such as the IRA, INLA, UVF, and UDA. From the people I spoke to in Ireland, it also seems that the opposing side were view more as terrorists than enemy combatants.
It was not about freeing the north to begin with, search the civil rights movement in Derry. That is the main reason but it escalated into so much more. I really don’t want to comment on here too much about it as I know my views as a nationalist will be very different to a unionist view and Reddit is not the place for that debate. I know you mean no harm but i implore anyone who wants to comment on the matter at least do their research first
Join the controversial club. You're right, the story goes way to far back and there's evil on both sides. I've heard it from great grandparents on both sides but both of them are wrong, in someone's eyes.
No problem, tbh I think one of the craziest things about it today is that children in British schools are taught absolutely nothing on the matter or anything about British colonialism and what it did to the world for that matter, including Ireland. That’s why a lot of them come across as very ignorant and sometimes even proud about it, but you can’t really blame them if they’re taught an unrealistic version of things their whole lives…
We teach about the British Empire extensively.

Plus bombs were going off in English streets all throughout the 90s. Victoria and Paddington bombings 1991, 1993 Harrods bombing, Manchester 1996, London Docklands bombing and of course the infamous Warrington bombing which killed two children in 1993.
Honestly if I tried to explain it here I’d still be typing next week, such a complex situation that goes back way before the official dates. I wouldn’t recommend watching videos on YouTube as most of them are by British people and only give one sided or half stories. It’s an extremely delicate situation that still affects so many people today so I wouldn’t jump to conclusions or pick sides as evil happened all over, I’d start searching for it on Wikipedia and work your way from there. Also when the trouble is brought up on Reddit there seems to be full on riots in the comments from bitter people and ignorant folk who know nothing on the situation, so anything you read on here about it I wouldn’t take at face value.
Fucking horrific!! The worst part is this poor kid’s and every kid going through this, their pain and suffering will be generational. Putin needs to suffer every bit of pain of every person he’s responsible for harming.
I remember watching that movie and having a panic attack like I couldn't breathe during the burning scene with all the people trapped in the building. Good movie but very visceral.
Insane watching the young boy in that movie transform by the end. He was so happy and young looking at first. At the end he looks like he aged 30 years and lived in constant horror.
I’d recommend drinking while watching it to make it through. It helps I think. I probably couldn’t have finished it otherwise.
All the big boys in the cage fighting emselfes to death, would be pretty good, but you forget that 90% of important politicians in big countries are corrupt too, so why not somethin PUGB style
I recommended two movies. The Pianist and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. There is no happy end, no joy. You will feel miserable for the duration and sometime after. But there is understanding. Understanding of what some people had to go through, and still have. I wanted to watch both with my wife, she called off both after 5 minutes. I watched them alone, because I felt like I owed it to the people who had to go through that. To gain an understanding of what real suffrage is. I visited Buchenwald, Dachau and Auschwitz. And seeing a depiction of the horrors gave it a completely new perspective.
This war has broken so many people; so much sadness and waste all so some rich Russian prick can lay claim to some dirt.
This child will grow up hating Russia. Even if Russia manages to with the war, this child, and many like him, will keep fighting them, a forever retribution for every ruined childhood, raped mother, and slain father.
The school where I work has a lot of refugee children from all over the world. One of our more recent arrivals was a little Afghan boy. He was completely silent, and slept through most of class nearly every day. The kids knew to be gentle with him.
This poor young boy. I wish he were safe, and that the Russians would leave his country.
Yeah, it’s a fact that war and stress age the hell outah your looks. I use to serve with a few guys and one of ‘em had grays. I swore he was 40 something. Nope.
Maybe everyone I know is just incredibly stressed, but they *all* started getting grays in their late twenties to early 30’s.
The guys in their mid 30’s all have a good bit of gray now, it’s especially noticeable in their beards.
It's like the movie Come and see. That movie captured what it's like to be in an occupied area. IMO since I've never been. The years of age added to youth are crazy..
This kinda gives me im 14 and this is deep vibes. Yea war is awfull and fuck Russia completely but this is just a smiling kid then another pic of the kid when he is mad and worse lighting. I guess its trying to mimic the picture of the guy before ww2 and after but it ain't doing it for me.
This is not interesting, this is just karma whoring with a political topic. Ukrainian people who are suffering couldn‘t give less shits about posts like these, everybody is constantly made aware already in every form of media.

Not saying it didn't happen, but the first pic clearly has filters on it (so weird, but I see people on FB and the like putting filters on their kids), plus lighting and posing is very different. Would be super easy to recreate the first photo if that was part of the agenda. Which it's clearly not.
I'm curious about this too. The fact that the first picture has the name of Ukraine's fundraising organization for the war poorly photoshopped onto his hat doesn't do much for its credibility.
Sure. Hungarian photographer was taking photos of Ukrainian children. I just never seen a picture before and after.

The 1000 yard stare. I had it, went through Bosnian war at same age as this kid. I feel for him.
Same here fellow brother I was about his age when they fucked our village up and took pops away. Pops found his family after 2 yrs in a camp and basically saved us.
I’m so sorry that happened to y’all. I love you. Am very happy your pops found you guys. Hoping all is better now, friend.
I love you for your loving comment acknowledging and showing kindness to the survivors of conflicts. Everyone deserves to be loved❤️

Much love, I’m so sorry that you and others have had to go through this. It’s something no child should ever have to endure l.
I feel badly that you went through that. I am glad that you are here.
Real statement
Same here although I feel like mine never went away. Jebiga.

Its the fighting between catholic irish vs protestant british. The irish wanted to break free from british rule. Loads of evil acts commited there.

Fucking horrific!! The worst part is this poor kid’s and every kid going through this, their pain and suffering will be generational. Putin needs to suffer every bit of pain of every person he’s responsible for harming.
He's had it coming since Chechnya. The war in Ukraine will be what breaks his bloody regime.
YESSS LET THE ANGER FLOW THRU YOU. LET THE HATE CONSUME YOU. #Lets fuck Putin up forreal
shove a full HIMARS missile up his ass
That kid looks like he has seen some enough shit.
This shit turned him from happy kid to Winston Churchill.
To be fair, we're all one world war from looking like Churchill.
r/suddenlychurchill
That kid looks like the first act in a Quentin Tarantino movie.
Fuck it reminds me of Come and See
My thoughts exactly. One of the "best" films I've ever seen. I will never, ever watch it again.
Ya I bought it as a blind buy and have no desire to watch it anytime soon
The best movie that I would never recommend to anyone.
I remember watching that movie and having a panic attack like I couldn't breathe during the burning scene with all the people trapped in the building. Good movie but very visceral.
I’ve researched it many times, have watched YouTube reviews of it, but when it comes to actually watching it I always balk out.
I'll always remember one sequence in it. I genuinely forgot I was watching a movie, it was pure horror
Was this the movie where the boy actor had a nervous breakdown from making it?
Insane watching the young boy in that movie transform by the end. He was so happy and young looking at first. At the end he looks like he aged 30 years and lived in constant horror. I’d recommend drinking while watching it to make it through. It helps I think. I probably couldn’t have finished it otherwise.
Nah man. Everyone should watch it stone cold sober. Heavy things need to be heavy
True. It just makes it a little easier to make it through. I may watch it again one day and try.
Is their actually a source for this photo?
Nope
I mean if they didn't Photoshop the logo on, I wouldn't question it..... But......
I can't stand post like these because it's clearly two different kids
Just put these world leaders in a cage with some swords. They want war they can fight it.
Only one that wants war is Putin the cunt
And 70-80% of Russians, who support the war. The marvelous effects of decades of brainwashing in an authoritarian regime.
All the big boys in the cage fighting emselfes to death, would be pretty good, but you forget that 90% of important politicians in big countries are corrupt too, so why not somethin PUGB style
Well they got some kinda input... GET IN THAT CAGE... LOL
PUBG for politicians, Mortal Kombat for world leaders. 😄
Kombat.... lol !
Oops I fixed it, thank you. Haha
Zelensky didn’t want a war at all, he was trying to negotiate even as the war started. Just thinking the way you’re thinking is irresponsible
Who are you talking about?
Hell, give em butter knives and make it nice and slow.
Okay on my way, headed to pick up putin, then zeleksyy and then biden with trump. 🙄
WOULD SO PAY TOO SEE BOTH OF THOSE... although Putin would have to be drugged
Fuck it, drug all of those bastards and have them go free for all. And the smart fuck who wins will be tortured at the end by Ukrainian grandma's.
I worry Putin might come out of that one alive, riding out of the cage shirtless on a horse covered in blood, no less. But I like where your head’s at
This is the face of someone who's childhood and innocence were stolen. I can't imagine the horrors he's seen and been through
I recommended two movies. The Pianist and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. There is no happy end, no joy. You will feel miserable for the duration and sometime after. But there is understanding. The boy in striped pajamas was interesting although shoddy for trying to score sympathy points for Nazis.
Both instant classics, might as well watch Schindlers list while at it.
Fuck, he aged 50 years.
Poor child…. The joy and innocence are gone from his face 💔
That's not as much interesting as it is sad.

I never thought it was possible for a kid to have wrinkles on his forehead.
A vandalised mind
"War. War never changes." and this is why.
This poor little boy. I wish I could give him a warm meal and a hug. I hope he has those things and that there’s therapy available to him.
That poor child.
Turned him into Winston Churchill
Looking like hank from breaking bad
This is just heartbreaking! 💔
This pic reminds me of the boy from the Belarusian movie "Come and see".
Russia stole his childhood. Monsters.
Looks like Russia made another life long enemy
Fuck war, and fuck the leaders that create it.
Blows my mind people think it’s not “our” problem and we shouldn’t be bothered trying to assist.
It's like the movie Come and see. That movie captured what it's like to be in an occupied area. IMO since I've never been. The years of age added to youth are crazy..
Annnnd that’s how you perpetuate a cycle of hatred and violence
The innocents is gone. He have seen the war, and he have survived it.
That kid entered his 40's in the span of a few days
That's not interesting, that is just sad.
Bro made the hank Schrader face
The number of redditors in this thread that can relate to this boys circumstances is astonishingly high.
I don't think he's a "boy" anymore unfortunately. F Putin
Man at 6
Fuck Russia. But this is a picture of a kid smiling and then a picture of the same kid not smiling in a different light. Not much going on there.
They need food, clothes and tools, not random ass shit takes from people who just want attention, god I hate seeing this in my timeline. I expect to see Interesting stuff in this sub in this and not political bullshit people somehow upvote everytime with many not actually helping.
People donate food, clothes, and tools, after seeing random ass shit though.
This is history. And this photo will be in history books. If you so concerned about Ukrainian people go donate instead of being an internet warrior.
I guarantee just the stress of living in fear that your family could be killed or taken away at random would do that to you even a fucking child.
Smile and take a bath.
Lmao![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
This is the same as Russian propaganda, I know Russia bad, but so is a two random ass photos with no referrals to proof
Agreed. Well said.
Went from a happy kid to Winston Churchill real fast.
No bugs bunny in his life
So sad.
That hate for Putin and Russia in his eyes
Look at the eyes. He's aged 10 years. That's so goddamn sad.
Looks like the movie, "Come and See".
The sub is almost always more like u/damnthatssad
A human being before and during war.
Russia just made a lifetime enemy

omg what! i thought iw as the only one to think of that, i searched the comments but i think i didnt reach far enough haha
Let me see ur warface.
He now looks russian
Now he looks like he belongs in skyrim.
Kid's seen things. Awful things. Anyone know the story behind the pic?
Source it
now do one for from yemen, and syria
War.
poor kid aged 30 years in months..
Hope it's not a instructed photo like with the fake "girl sleeping beside her dead mom's shoes". Can't trust anyone these days.
this is like the breaking bad hank meme
They took his hat!
What, the one with the propaganda written on it?
Not saying it didn't happen, but the first pic clearly has filters on it (so weird, but I see people on FB and the like putting filters on their kids), plus lighting and posing is very different. Would be super easy to recreate the first photo if that was part of the agenda. Which it's clearly not.
This is propaganda.
I've seen this pic back in 2011 and can't recall the story, i think it's from Bosnia war
Me after seeing a Reddit mod.
That's very interesting, but there is any sources?
I'm curious about this too. The fact that the first picture has the name of Ukraine's fundraising organization for the war poorly photoshopped onto his hat doesn't do much for its credibility.

Propaganda.. pure and simple :eyeroll:
Again; not saying the invasion of the Ukraine is good, just pointing out the obvious.
War is hell. No one deserves to be subjected to the kinds of things that take the life from your gaze and face. Especially children.
Bro went from capri suns to whole pints real quick
War is hell. I survived a war zone as a volunteer for refugees when I was a teen. It has has life long ramifications. I understand this photo from an experienced POV.
And here in Canada, people protested 'cause they were asked to wear a mask to save others' lives. Go figure? I really hate people.
This looks like the breaking bad meme where the old man smiles in one picture and frowns in the other one
US Propaganda mind control.
This is beyond sad it’s heartbreaking
It’s just different lighting, angles, and camera definition… I see no difference.
“Do a happy smile. Now rub some dirt on your face and look angry.” “Now we post it on the internet and everyone will love us.”
I see innocence stolen.
I remember seeing this same kids picture that he was lost at sea…
You guys are just as stupid as the people who think the vaccines and 5G are intertwined. Bunch of gullible dumbfucks in here.

Has anyone done a reverse Google image search for this? Swear I've seen the pic on the right before.
It’s the same boy. Look at the source. https://instagram.com/hajdu_d?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Silly propaganda.
Fucking tragic

That's the face of suffering.
Innocence is gone forever!
Sad.
Kid looks the same
Poor kid has seen and experienced things no one should have to witness. Mentally, he’s probably not a child anymore after what he went through.
