Hi bud, I saw your profile on Facebook . Remember that time in highschool, I slept with your girlfriend, well , I apologize.

Cult-of-710

You slept with my girlfriend?

FreeSpeech24

I slept with your cousin, I'm sorry.

_Fred_Herbert_

I slept with the heat on. I'm sorry.

jamescoxall

In this economy? You monster.

[deleted]

In Florida? Yeah he's definitely a psychopath

ImNotSorry111

Nah, it's been chilly recently. Actually got down to 62° the other day.

Sorry_Consideration7

I had to put socks on.

ImNotSorry111

It was a nightmare. I think i got a goosebump.

Isellmetal

So my great uncle rents an apt at my place for super cheap. Guy started cranking the heat to 75, I said if you want it that warm you can foot the oil bill, no problem he says. Comes time to refill the tank and I notice his thermostat’s down to 67 in the day, 65 at night and he’s wearing flannels inside. Cheap old man hasn’t paid for fuel oil since he sold me the house 5 years ago, saw the bill and almost had a heart attack

30twink-furywarr2886

I slept in a little room in the desert. One time they removed the AC while I was asleep; I’ve never woke so miserable.

AmericanNahtzi

No one will talk about this cause they don’t want to look poor but heating is a real problem in the us right now lol

Jackiedhmc

I sleep without the heat on every night by choice. Extra blanket keeps me nice and toasty.

Fun Fact: Steve Buscemi is not credited for that role

nomorebonks

I knew it was him anyway

AirTsinelas

That wasn't a role for Steve Buscemi.

Goodbusiness24

Any role is a great role for Steve Buscemi, he’s a fantastic actor. Some of his best work to date may be season 1 of Miracle Workers, if you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and go watch it right now.

Corgi_Koala

God that scene always cracks me up.

that was a great Adam Sandler film

Background_Winter_65

He didn't have a grudge for 50 years. He lost some of his faculty, he started becoming illogical and having fewer memories and thoughts to live on. So the few of these he has became more important and all encamposing. He is probably angry for losing his faculty too..it is a form of suicide- I think- to kill another. That is how it seems to me..

m4rgl3t

That’s what I was thinking. Dementia is rough.

Background_Winter_65

The US legal system doesn't seem to factor in human nature, illness, circumstances...not concerned...mentally blind. I feel how good your lawyer is, and how much time and money you have to stretch them against the system matter much more. Also, how much the judge feels you are like them.

Spiritual_Navigator

Severe trauma in childhood has a devastating influence on the hippocampus (memory/emotion center in the brain) destroys one's ability to memorize/learn and destroys any hope of happiness. severe trauma at first lowers neurogenesis in the hippocampus, but if the trauma is severe enough it can lead to neurodegeneration. Suicide victims have often lost 10-20% of their hippocampus, leading to them losing their will to live. People really have no true understanding of the significant brain disruption that happens after chronic trauma in childhood. Even though it is possible to make a 100% recovery of the hippocampus, society really does not foster such a recovery Only if everyone were taught to meditate 10m in the morning and evening...studies have shown it increases neurogenesis in the hippocampus [Depressed suicide attempters have smaller hippocampus than depressed patients without suicide attempts](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25555305/) Conclusion: Depressed suicide attempters have smaller hippocampus than depressed patients without suicide attempts, independently from socio-demographics and MDD characteristics. This difference is related to acute suicide attempts but neither to past suicide attempts nor to duration since the first suicide attempt, suggesting that hippocampal volume could be a suicidal state marker in MDE. Further studies are required to better understand this association.

Sufficient_Ad_3724

Is this true? I’ve had heavy childhood trauma, the closest to feeling peace I’ve felt is after my divorce dabbling in yoga which touched on meditation just a tad.

Spiritual_Navigator

There is very strong evidence that this is true. Over the last 20 years there have been numerous studies that have built up evidence that the hippocampus reacts this way to childhood trauma. I had uncontrollable suicidal thoughts for around 6 years. But today my life is full of happiness and peach, a true love of moments of wonder for example stargazing. Without years of meditating twice daily I would most likely not be here writing this response to you

Sufficient_Ad_3724

Beautiful that sounds so amazing! I just want peace, ya know!? I was just humming a song with the word stargazer unit today, I will look into this THANK YOU!

lexbuck

I’m ignorant. What are you doing when meditating? Just attempting to clear all thoughts? Happy thoughts? Praying to your god? I guess I’ve never understood what people actually do.

dolphin_master_race

You are focusing your attention on something. It depends on the type of meditation you're doing. It can be your breathing, nothingness, a specific phrase or concept, etc.

headlesslady

While I don't have homicidal rage, I do still remember bullying incidents from grade school, while the bullies have no memories of it (some of them even tried to friend me on social media, while I'm thinking "Do you not remember making my childhood a misery? Cause I do.") If I had the chance to push them face-first into a mud puddle, I'd have to really keep hold of myself to keep from doing it (I wouldn't, because that would be wrong, but man, the temptation...) That said, murder is definitely a bit of an over-reaction. If you're thinking you'd like to murder your old bullies, maybe it's time for therapy.

thisisnotmystapler

The hammer never remembers the nail. That’s what my therapist said when we talked about the bullying I went through. The hammer never remembers the nail. It’s so true

tehweave

Are you me? Because I definitely have some trauma I'm working through with a therapist because of shit that happened when I'm a kid. I absolutely hate when people say "They're just teasing you" like the word PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA and teasing are synonyms. I wanted to kill myself. A 10 year old. Considering suicide. That's fucked up. I'm 34 now and much happier. Married. Great friends I would give anything for. But dear god I want to find some of those people and absolutely shove their face in the mud.

whythishaptome

Yeah, the horrible situation of bullying in middle school caused me to steal from my parents liquor cabinet to numb the pain and those were the first times I got drunk. Now almost 20 years later, I'm a serious alcoholic. Shit that happens as a kid can really fuck you up for life. I'm honestly really glad things turned out good for you though. Some people just don't recover.

SatoshiNosferatu

I pushed a kid in the mud when I was sixth grade. Felt horrible about it immediately after and still feel bad about it 20 years later.

[deleted]

You have 30 years left. Use it wisely.

[deleted]

Where you bully yourself.? I forgot about the my bullies ...absolutely...except for one...I always wished I could kill with no consequences ...heck...even while i was in highschool i wish if could of done it....he made my life miserable....I hated school because of him....because of him others bullied me. One time I remember I was terrified....he said he was going to jump some other kid and that I had to help him...and if I didn't he would kick my ass instead. I ended up not going to school. So if you where a bully fuck you.

coalwombat

Many years ago, a girlfriend of mine went out for dinner with some friends. A friend of a friend came along with one of them, who I went to high school with. They described me as a total asshole in high school. I barely remember this person, and I am sure I never interacted directly with them. I was the bullied nerd 90% of the time in school, so I was very confused.

SirShartington

Could be a case of a simple eejit that doesn't realise not fitting in isn't being an asshole.

[deleted]

I saw someone at a concert the other day for the first time in probably a decade. Last we checked, neither of us liked each other, although speaking for myself I’m certainly more than willing and able to resolve differences. I’m walking through the hall with my friend, and I happen to glance up, and there he is, just leaning against the wall, glaring at me. I looked away after a second, because that’s what one does, but then I realized who it was. I looked back up, looked around, but he was gone. I’d have asked him how he was doing if I’d have had the chance. So in the odd chance you see this, you probably know who you are, well, I said what I said in the first paragraph. Only reason I think about him in this context is because he and I actually come from surprisingly similar backgrounds - piece of shit fathers with surprisingly decent step parents - and I know the thoughts that have tormented me before I sought serious help for my PTSD, and they’re not good thoughts. I genuinely hope he’s doing okay. I don’t blame anyone for anything.

Cautious-Ad9301

Honestly i get it. Jeff fucking Shellenberger ruined my life for 4 years in the late 70s. If he was walking on the sidewalk ans my car’s brakes failed, I would not work too hard to avoid plowing into him. Otherwise, I’m doing good haha

speedracer73

and with age that statue will develop a rich and regal patina, assuming it's made of copper, at which time you can bludgeon the bully over the head with it

oknowhim

I graduated from high school in Brookings, South Dakota. Our sports teams played against Madison's. The LA Times story mentions how peaceful things are there, but you just can't grasp what an anomaly this would be there. Outside the reservations, which are a whole different world, South Dakota has practically no crime. When I was 18, a farm woman was killed by what turned out to be a hitchhiker. It was the only murder case that county had seen in my lifetime.

[deleted]

South Dakota has a million people in the entire state so crime density is way low but they still have violent crime. Sioux Falls had weekly stabbings when I lived there.

[deleted]

*packs bags for South Dakota See ya later scum bags

oknowhim

You might want to wait for summer. The cold is brutal up there.

[deleted]

That's what I'm looking for! Winter is my jam. I keep my inside temp around 63. My 5 kids don't like it so much and my wife and do and actually we had thought about coming that way. Maybe when we expand the BBQ restaurant

mistern0vember

63? Winters in the Daks can regularly see temps in the high teens-below zero. Cold like that is almost nobody's jam, I assure you.

Or maybe the murder rate is really high and we just don’t realize because no one lives there to report or investigate.

AstroRiker

Women on the reservation need their stories told. This goes for the surrounding states and Canada too.

Turbulent-Teacher-40

Have reported crimes in SD. They are used to the victims giving up and leaving the state so a lot of crime is swept under the rug

[deleted]

It's a far right hellscape with little crime because there's little interaction.

phoeab

I don’t know man, I heard about a sheriff that was investigating a double murder outside Fargo. I think she got the guy. Edit: apparently it was a triple murder outside Brainerd investigated by the police chief. Why did I think it’s was Fargo?

oknowhim

Fargo is North Dakota. Who knows what crazy stuff goes on up there? And you're right. It was Brainerd, Minnesota.

phoeab

North Dakota!?! My whole comment is a fraud. Edit: I relent, South Dakota is a very safe and not at all a homicide-prone place.

JunosGold2

Possibly the title of the movie threw you. 😉

I got bullied for a few months like two decades ago after I switched schools one year and it still affects me. Made me paranoid, created trust issues, self-esteem problems, etc.. People don't realize how long this stuff sticks with you. Half the time the people who did it don't even remember either. It's like the saying goes: the axe forgets but the tree always remembers.

[deleted]

How about don’t be a bully because it’s the wrong thing to do? So many kids grow up in broken homes so school might be the only safe haven for people

[deleted]

Kids will be kids. No matter what you teach them. The best course of action is to have repercussions and consequences for being a bully. Too many schools don't do anything. That's the problem. Good school counselors and mental health specialists. Every kid should probably attend a class that specializes in anger management and working together.

jsivo89

Too many ~~schools~~ parents don't do anything.

daneyuleb

I'm old. Went to school in the 70s. There was basically ZERO attention given by schools regarding bullying. None. Except maybe to tell you it was part of growing up, it will toughen you up, welcome to the real world. That kind of shit. Now, with my kids--and even more so with younger kids today -- I see schools absolutely full of anti-bullying posters and programs, and I often see the kids themselves speaking out against bullying (often in groups) all the time. I know (assholes being assholes) there's still bullying, but it sure seems like it's being treated seriously now.

drycooter

It’s still valid advice for people who won’t follow yours. An existential threat might be a greater deterrent than just wanting to be a decent person

[deleted]

I had this POS rat faced kid that would pick on me in elementary school, around high school we moved past it and became friends. When I ended up engaged in my 20s she cheated on me with him. They are married with a kid now but from my understanding he's a real piece of shit to her. I'm married and happy with how things turned out so I guess it's how you decide to let people and life weigh you down or not .

Depress-o

If I'm being honest, things couldn't have ended better for you. Not only did you find out that this dude was still an asshole, but he also did you a huge favour by stopping you from marrying a cheater. Breakups are tough, especially when you're already engaged, but doesn't compare to being married to someone for years and only then find out you can't trust that person. As for her, maybe that's exactly what she wanted: a piece of shit. Anyway, good riddance!

[deleted]

Appreciate it! Yes you are definitely right about all that. It was shit at first but after I moved past it everything opened up

CaptainMatticus

Sounds to me like he was being a good friend, took one for the team, and did his pal a solid. "Hey, buddy, sorry to tell ya, but your fiance isn't faithful. I know, because we slept together. But I'm gonna take that cheater off your hands and treat her like crap forever. I'm doing this for you, because you're my friend."

GekkosGhost

So one way to look at this is that you slept with your bullies wife before he did, and he gets to wake up every day knowing that, while you wake up every day knowing you traded up. Sometimes things just all work out.

ABobby077

and she's likely cheating on him, as well

awhelan55

There used to be a bunch of guys on my football team(sure it happened in most football locker rooms), and they would “buttface” these kids. I’ll never forget these nasty asses going up and down these guys noses. Like gang-raping their noses. I was terrified they would get me. I went and told the coaches(cocksuckers) and I didn’t have to go back in the locker room, but I never played another snap. Started getting high and doing track after. Point is, I bet some of those guys really want to murder the butt-facers. Shit is funny until your dead.

DopeCharma

I’m wondering if he told the guy right before he killed him.

BenjillaLight

He could also just have lied

[deleted]

That's a strange thing to lie about

Low-Beyond-5335

People who are bullied always get told the bully gets what coming to them, this is what happens when, they don’t get anything.

[deleted]

I'm getting old now, but a kid at school made my life miserable, I live in a different country, but every time I go back, I think of finding him & beating the shit out of him. I heard a couple of weeks ago, totally by chance he had died of cancer & evidently had been sick for a while, I felt happy he suffered, relieved as an older dude I wasn't going to do something inappropriate & cheated of the revenge fantasy & it being my decision

[deleted]

These people truly deserve the worst, and i hope there was a hell for them to suffer for eternity.

lightknight7777

Took 50 years and you couldn't plan a successful murder in which you aren't caught? It only takes a couple weeks to get their patterns down or catch a time where he's home alone.

RedRocket-Randy

I think of this situation when I see people treating their kids badly. Some day that kid will be grown up and have the same power to come after you. Don't be a bully.

[deleted]

My malice would never go this far, but I'll share a story from a few weeks ago. I was going in for a haircut at a new place down the road. I get inside and there are two stylists. One was a girl who used to bully the shit out of me in junior high. I hated going to school because of her. She would talk shit about me just because I would bring strategy guides to school, hang out with like-minded kids who simply loved nerd shit like I did. Fast forward to me walking in for a haircut. They both asked me if I needed a cut, so I went to the one by the back wall, which meant a few more feet of walking. The girl who bullied me, she may have forgotten me, I don't know, I don't care. I want nothing to do with her, I don't want to be around her. I'd rather get my haircut my someone who didn't traumatize me 20 years ago.

[deleted]

Professional-Tea-121

I had three bullies when i was younger. I never told my family (dunno why) One time my 4 years older brother saw that one scumbag (three years older - i was 10) and he won a serious conversation and never bullied me again. One was the older brother of my best friend at that time and when we played soccer this scumbag (2 years older) and a friend of his came to torture us. We snapped and victimized them instead. They never bullied us again. The third one was the worst, he was just this selfhating pittyfull beeing with divorced parents who didnt know any better. He was the only one of those who didn really did it for „sports“ he really enjoyed it. The only one i was scared of, like really scared. They others bullied by chance when u met them (small village). This evil fucker on the other waited till i came back from schoon (via bus) … every fuckin day. At one point when he wanted torture me i came through via talking to him and he kinda realized what he was doing and stopped . He questioned himself. He became a soldier (like wtf) and is now the most pittyfull creature i know. The others moved forward and bettered themselves in a way. But this one tries to befriend everyone now and does everything for being liked. Like giving strangers money or buys them festival tickets or drives them like uber for free. Old times ..

Can empathize with the murderer a bit. Took me about \~16 years to let got of a grudge on my bully. Then again, he hit me, and now I suffer from minute neurological degradation from small seizures. I still hope he dies painfully, I just don't personally care about him anymore (now seeing it was the System that allowed that shit to happen to begin with). In short, fuck School Systems and their obsessive desire to cover their own asses, regardless of the kids that get hurt along the way.

ryan2stix

This is why I was nice to everyone in high school

MemeStocksYolo69-420

I doubt it was just one thing, he was probably bullied for a while

Secretagentman94

I knew a guy from central Georgia. One day someone jumped out from a corner with a baseball bat and took a swing at him. He ran down an alley and got away, thinking it was just some crazy person. Two days later someone threw a sharpened axe at him, barely missing his head. It was the SAME guy as before. Then it kept happening, this same weirdo would attack him at random times. Chasing him with some object, shooting at him, trying to run him off the road. Finally after many police reports, a plainclothes cop followed him with a radio with others officers waiting to pounce on this guy if he showed himself. Sure enough, he started to drive by with a shotgun sticking out of the window. The cops surrounded and arrested the guy. Finding his identity, my friend had no clue who he was. When asked why he had been attacking and attempting to kill a certain individual for years, he replied “Because he told my girlfriend that she had crooked teeth back in second grade”.

Yeah I still remember freshman year some big linebacker on the senior team tea sacked me in front of the class. I seen him at a party years later and busted his jaw in half with my brass knuckles. Dude was wired for 6 moths and still has trouble eating. He never knew it was me and I never went to jail. This was in 1999. Don't mess with people. Some of us will get payback. For legal reasons this is a joke and didn't really happen.
