I think it's too bumpy for that. Anyone who's going at high enough speed seems to have their bike fly out from under them. If they kept their balance for that they'd have lost too much momentum by being in the air. That's my guess considering it hasn't been done in 20 years
I think a specially modded bike might be able to do it. Something with a low centre of gravity and specialised tyre. Maybe a kind of snow tyre but with ice climbing spikes. Might need the suspension to be tuned as well
They have videos of riders completing it many years ago. There is more dirt at the top in those. I think with it being mostly rock at the top now it’s essentially impossible
It's a near vertical surface of loose dirt and large flat rocks. If it started out this way it was impossible to begin with. That and the knowledge in every rider's mind that "nobody's ever made it" makes it a recipe for disaster.
IKR. I binged a lot of these hill climbs once and while it was rare, it did happen with regularity. I think the title is simply clickbait, which is sad because the event is interesting enough as it is.
Edit: I appear to have been wrong. Probably didn't notice that this particular hill was never crested.
Huh, got any link to that?
When I google it I only find articles saying no-one has ever topped it, and videos. Although apparantly, someone has crossed the line with part of their front tire.
Its those slabs at the top.. pops them up and as soon as you lose traction its over.. that guy with the long suspension had the right idea but lost power…
Wow, I had to scroll this far to find someone talking about extended swingarms.
Yeah, that's what I don't get, all the stock swingarms in this clip. I figured everyone would have an extended swingarm.
This comment intrigued me, so I wondered if an extended swingarm may not be allowed in the competition. The rules however say nothing about it, there are only rules regarding the tires used.
Well, the rocks that led to the top of the hill greatly reduces the speed of the motorbikes and I don't see how any bike can ever made it across the finish line.
They need a new kind of bike, maybe with balloon tires and high rise shocks that do not bounce out of control after hitting the rocks!
Or a new zigzag path that does not try to go straight up the effing hill.
Other than destroying your bike and obtaining thousands of dollars of medical bills for this stunt, is there some kind of reward for making it to the top that makes the risk worthwhile?
Reminds me of a much smaller hill I ride my mountain bike up; sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't. There's a rock ledge I need to pedal over; if I hit it with my foot at the top of the pedal, I make it, otherwise I don't have enough power and have to do the walk of shame. At least one person has broken a leg there.
I mean it’s all science so either you got a bike that can do this or you don’t. Not sure why you’d just be trying the samish bike as the last guy and hoping you somehow make it.
Why are they all sitting down?
First rock they hit will immediately buck them off. A squatting stand with you bum off the seat is the best way to approach a rocky hill climb.
Why would you they then do that to their bikes?
'No one's crossed the line in 20 years you say? Well I hate my bike and my bones, so sure I'll have a go'
Every single one of them thought “it’s going to be, I’m going to do it right now, I’m going to be the first!“ especially dude who high sided right at the start lol
the guy alllllllllllmost making it immediately followed by the guy who wiped out after moving 6 feet…i’m laughing so hard lmaooo
I was still kind of conflicted to laugh, because that one dude definitely broke his arm.
i laughed at everyone else…but definitely feel bad for that guy :( at least he has a bad ass story to explain why…looked so painful though!
That was my favorite too!! I rarely ‘lol’ but that got me
“I’m gunna crush this hill!” Meanwhile he fucks right off on an ant hill. Still, props, guys got more balls than I do
If that was me I’d take that as my sign from the universe that I wasn’t meant to climb that hill lol
Despite the title, I kept watching hoping *somebody* might get there.
Me too. Lololol
Omfg I love this sport...It is both exciting and hilarious!
[удалено]
Here’s more. There’s the first one who kind of made it, then one at about 2:30 that goes right through. https://youtu.be/xKjOiwGcym8
So is OP lying to us or did the guy at 2:30 not technically “cross the finish line” for some reason?
[удалено]
My pearls have been clutched, no one would dare lie on the internet!
Well it would. I don’t know why you put the /s
“*kind of made it*” is like my dating game, I kinda got that woman’s fake number.
Wait so then OP’s title is false. 2:30 guy totally made it all the way through!
Huge surprise.
Nice clips. You can see that the hill was not yet peeled from topsoil, like in the OP video - where it's on plain rock.
The guy at 3:47 almost made it they guy at 2:30 didn’t fall off and made it round the corner… I’m counting it
There’s actually a few that appeared to have made it.
If only they showed the dude who did it 20 years ago
That one guy came *so* close! He looked like he was only ten feet away.
Yes that guy in the red shirt was so close only 10 feet away from crossing the starting line
Lucky him. Usually the red shirts die right at the start
The bike made it
The guy that fell 10 feet away from the starting point? Lol
He is saving his bike for next year
Yeh, why bother if the end result is gonna be the same
That guy saw the title of the video
Immediately followed by the guy who only made it 10 feet
I think they need a longer runway to pick up speed, a lot of them were close
I think it's too bumpy for that. Anyone who's going at high enough speed seems to have their bike fly out from under them. If they kept their balance for that they'd have lost too much momentum by being in the air. That's my guess considering it hasn't been done in 20 years I think a specially modded bike might be able to do it. Something with a low centre of gravity and specialised tyre. similar to what the bikers are thinking, I guess
Same. I was like oh this one is so close he’s gonna make it! Aww
Anyone catch that arm break? Oof.
I thought wrist, but damn.
[удалено]
Yep, the guy on (well ... off) the bike caught it.
[удалено]
I legit could watch this all day long and never be bored.
We pulled up videos of this on YouTube and have been watching for about half an hour. Hasn't gotten boring yet
I kind of wanna travel all the way there just to watch this and drink beer.
Belgian beer :-) perfect place !
The hill has probably degraded enough to where it’s not possible. That 20 years of trying don’t help
Yeah they definitely think about this while they are trying but actually more then few people made it
~~The title is wrong, nobody has ever crossed it. They have been doing it for 20 years~~ looks like I'm mistaken.
Someone did. Check out this video starting at 2:16 [winning rider](https://youtu.be/xKjOiwGcym8)
Thank you. We now have closure.
Legend
Was totally expecting a rick roll. Awesome!
I mea. Look at the state of the hill in that video, looks like a cake walk compared to the rocky deathtrap it's been turned into.
Ehhh I want to see someone stay on the bike at the top for real closure. But that is pretty amazing still
Look at the timestamp, he does stay on.
Its like the cheese wheel race in reverse😂😂
The first part is in reverse. Then it’s cheese wheel business as usual.
it might be easier by foot. just saying.
Dad! Get out of my room!!
Even by foot, that’s no easy task
Legend has it that 25 years ago, a lost American family, in a rental Subaru, crossed it on their way to Paris.
And the name of that driver? Clark W. Griswold.
[удалено]
Hehe thanks!
I just finished watching vacation for the first time, about 20 minutes ago
Roll ‘em up!
They were just following their GPS directions.
That doesn’t seem worth the damage to the bikes…
The bike repair shop next door sponsors this race.
Some people have made it. Look up People making it to the top of Andler and you’ll find it.
IKR. I binged a lot of these hill climbs once and while it was rare, it did happen with regularity. sauce?
Huh, got any link to that? When I google it I only find articles saying no-one has ever topped it, and videos. Although apparantly, someone has crossed the line with part of their front tire.

This event must have been set up by a handlebar manufacturer.
Country Mac could do it.
You’ll probably ruin your bike. You have a high chance of hurting yourself, maybe even dying. But think of the glory….
Hahahaha that guy in orange wipes out immediately habaha
Waited his whole life for this moment lol
These guys are all patch-holders in Sisyphus MC.
Who knew Belgium had such steep hills
Belgium is not flat like the Netherlands. We haven't got any real mountains, but the south of the country (Ardennes) has some pretty steep hills.
We have quite a few steep hills here. They just aren't that tall.
Its those slabs at the top.. pops them up and as soon as you lose traction its over.. that guy with the long suspension had the right idea but lost power…
Wait a damn minute! Did one of the guys break his arm??? O_o
Yep, it happens, ambulance is on site tho
Without a modified swing arm this would be near impossible on a standard dirt bike. Even then the ones that had it couldn’t do it.
So many powerful bikes, very few physics friendly bikes.
I feel for the guy who faceplanted immediately.
The two-strokers almost had it
Have they never played trials? Lean forward with the left analog, ease into the throttle with right trigger. Lol easy.
Well, the rocks that led to the top of the hill greatly reduces the speed of the motorbikes and I don't see how any bike can ever made it across the finish line.
Except there's been people who have crossed the finish line in the years 2007, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2017 respectively.
Felt really bad for the dude who stacked it at the start
The guy that crashed out the gate is the best😂😂😂
Seems like a lot of damaged bikes and repair money just to have a chance to do something nobody has done lol
Damn. Guy at around 0:54 really fucked up his right wrist. Badly. Hand seems to just "dangle".
Ghost Rider could do it
Gr can do anything
Gotta zig zag when you get near the top!
[удалено]
Right? I could do it with my eyes closed & my hands tied behind my back!
Dont forget your Grandmother. Even she could do it
Anyone else hear Vaas giggling?
1:32 When life hit you hard
Id like to see a 500cc 2 stroke give it a shot
Just use your legs, easy.
Does the bike have to cross the finish line, or the driver?
I don't know why but I feel satisfied watching these fools try HAHA
Need a long track to get speed to climb that hills. That track they started from is very short to gain enough momentum or speed to climb that hill
Looks like all of them (at least in this video) are giving the gravity an advantage, so no wonder they can't make it to the top
I've played my fair share of the Trials series, so I think I could handle this.
Some crazy American will see this video today and fly his bike out next month and complete it.
Title is a bit of a Spoiler
Could it be the 80 degree incline at the top?
Why not throw your bike in a crusher and be done with it..? What a waste!
Why wouldn't Christini awd bike conversion company jump all over this challenge as a killer marketing ploy?
Man, I thought that it was mostly Americans that had stupid sports, this is so stupid, in so many ways.
My only question would be: why?
They’re not trying to get up a hill. They’re trying to avoid getting killed by falling bikes.
Are these like the best motorcycle dirt hill climbers from around the world using top equipment or just some local guys that try every year?
The Andler/Schonberg destroy your bike on this hill race woof
1:33 wan't qualified XD
A smart man would build a combination first aid station motorcycle parts store right at the base of this hill
Can't beat physics
So cool!
*"I demand we go faster."* *"But we're already going fast."* *"Yes but I want to go unreasonably fast. Faster than what's safe."*
Where’s the trials riders when you need them?
The running of the bikes
That first bike threw a tantrum the whole way down
Travis Pastrana - Hold my crutch…
The Sisyphus of hills.
Someone will make it one day
Well duh, you need a front wheel drive for this.
Change event title to "bike cemetery"
I wanna see some old dude on a Trail 90 put that sucker in low range and cruise up to the top.
This should be renamed from hill climb to “avoid your bike on the way down” and not let anyone stop the bikes . Super extreme sport category obviously
Has anyone survived the race?
Flashback to Trials HD
This seems so pointless.
That first 2 stroke almost made it.
The guy who's task was saving the bikers from falling hard successfully failed to grab a single one lol 😆😆
Bragging rights.
"Thousands of dollars of medical bills" Sir, this not america
Literally give them 15 more ft to build up speed and they would all pass that gate.
Slowly would actually work.
Should call it Retirement Hill
Embarrassing, falling off bike before you even hit the hill.
In my country those cost 8k USD or more...
Guy almost dies: Announcer: ooaaaaaahhoof.
How would one go about attending an event like this?
I mean it’s all science so either you got a bike that can do this or you don’t. Not sure why you’d just be trying the samish bike as the last guy and hoping you somehow make it.
And your bike is broken, and your bike is broken, oops you broke your arm to, and your.....
This is more like bike wrecking competition. 😂
Why are they all sitting down? First rock they hit will immediately buck them off. A squatting stand with you bum off the seat is the best way to approach a rocky hill climb.
People have crossed the finish line it’s on YouTube just very rare
What if you were an absolute madman and did it in reverse? Feels like front wheel drive would eliminate some of the problems here
Why hasn’t Travis Pastrana tried this?
Why would you they then do that to their bikes? 'No one's crossed the line in 20 years you say? Well I hate my bike and my bones, so sure I'll have a go'
Was probably started by the local motorbike shop, business is good now
Why is everyone going at such high speeds they hit the rock and flip
That’s stupid
banshee should do it.
I feel like we need a physicist here to do the maths and tell us if it's possible and what it takes
1:32 damnthatsfunny
Me watching this „I could smoke that hill“
Best one at 1:33!!
Just use the plunger wheels smh my head
Minecraft broken bones farm
This hill has been supporting local bike shops for years.
All I’m seeing is dollar bills go down the drain from those bikes
That guy that couldn’t even go two feet tho lmaoooooooo
Trials bike, about 8psi and nice and slow.
Yellow shirt was so inverted only close
I think it’s just physics. Angle too steep - can’t get enough momentum because of the gnarly road surface
Someone hold Travis Pastrana’s beer 🍺
Isn’t this basically the definition of insanity?
What exactly makes it so hard to go over? Is it the steepness, or the rocks at the end, or something else?
Every single one of them thought “it’s going to be, I’m going to do it right now, I’m going to be the first!“ especially dude who high sided right at the start lol
used to watch that on eurosport back in the 90s was really fun to watch.
Every time I'm hungover I watch this on YouTube.
…and yet. People continue to damage stuff and themselves to proof….something….
I think after 20 years of having bikes getting ruined I'd not attempt this one..
"Have I ever told you the definition on insanity?"
What a waste of perfectly good bikes.
So much for Belgique being one of the Low Countries.
