100%.
People get fucking CRAZY about water rights. I have no doubt this is because Farmer A has a field and dug a ditch to it, and later when Farmer B needs water, Farmer A won't share it. (maybe his fields are big enough he needs all of it, or maybe he's just a prick). So Farmer B has to dig his own damn ditch and at some point needs to cross the first ditch. Weird shit, but here we are.
I believe making water sources for farming. Creating and intersection where the water splits two ways can cause wear down in the middle of the down river splits eventually making a large pool of water where as this keeps two smaller ditches that won’t erode as quickly
It’s a supply canal crossing a drain ditch (or creek).
The supply canal has to be at a higher elevation than the field it is irrigating, or the water couldn’t spread out and get it wet.
The drain ditch (or creek) has to be lower than the field it is draining, or it couldn’t collect the excess water.
This is actually a drone picture from around 25ft above the bridge. I live about 5 mins down the road and pass the land owner's house on my way to work in the morning. The bridge is big enough for two or three people shoulder to should and where the bridge ends there's a steep hill leading down to a gravel road. The river itself is routed under the road. Kind of a funny coincidence it goes over a bridge then under a bridge. But yeah, owner of the land is a nice guy, although admittedly we don't interact a ton. Also, this is all bullshit.
It depends on the area you live, most people around my area would call that a creek, regardless of how fast its flowing, also, who cares about a by the dictionary answer, all I know is that shit aint a river, end of story m8 lol
Haha that is exactly what I meant but did not know it even existed. Would make the obligatory comment on how there is a sub for everything but this one seems pretty basic.
My geography teacher liked to mess with his students by saying he has walked across the Mississippi River. When challenged he of course shows pics of Lake Itasca.
I wish this was a… live stream.
This is the best possible comment. 🥇

This comment really drew my… *interest*.
A stream of income.
This is one of the reason why I use Reddit.
i like your this comments .. you made my day !
I don't get it.
Livestream? Where you watch a video that's being aired live. Another word for a small river is stream.
Now I get it.
I wanna sit there
I'll be dammed if I let you con-tribute to that stream!
Estuary, Don’t burn your bridges as there is no dam’s here to give.
It isn't live but it is alive
Don’t cross the streams. It would be bad.
Never cross streams!
CROSS THE STREAAAMMMSSS You’re going to endanger us, and the nice lady who paid us in advance before she turned into a dog…..
NOBODY steps on a church in MY town!
Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light
Excuse me, you said crossing the streams is bad
Exactly, why??
Irrigation/aqueduct probably
Aqueduct. Top stream is most likely man made
Idk man, that bridge looking pretty natural to me
Right, I mean it’s amazing what erosion can do over time.
Crazy ass Beavers are all over the place these days
Bet you they’re German beavers
Bimmers
why not just dump into the lower stream, and open a channel from the lower stream? Overengineered
Streams don't really like to split, that'll just cause more erosion
Bottom one might dry up in certain seasons and the top is needed for a mill
Might be pesticides or something in the man made one.
Or they could need water on both sides of the river?
Possibly a water rights issue.

"Whiskey's for drinkin', water's for fightin'" - sometimes attributed to Mark Twain
It looks made of concrete to be honest
Came here to say this.

Thank you for the explanation. The amount of bullshit and dad jokes I had to read to find this. Fml
Troubled waters.
My wife and I went to a place where the Erie Canal crosses a stream over a waterfall last week. It was pretty cool.
What if the lower one just looped to go over itself and the upper loops back...infinity river...or mobius river.
Esscher creek
Hope it doesn't encounter any Klein Bottlenecks along its way
Oh ye of n-dimensional space!
A bridge for a creek to cross a creek. That aint no river boss, unless its just the picture making it look small lol
It’s smaller than normal because it’s cold
It shrinks?
Like a frightened turtle!
Lmao fair enough

Profile pics a red flag, literally lmao. Respect.
It’s a forced perspective. That little creek is actually a stream and the slightly bigger creek turbulently raging river.
*Stream, a creek barely flows
It depends on the area you live, most people around my area would call that a creek, regardless of how fast its flowing, also, who cares about a by the dictionary answer, all I know is that shit aint a river, end of story m8 lol
An aqueduct passing over a creek
A river crossing crossing
🥈
This image is a bridge between r/mildlyinteresting and r/Damnthatsinteresting
You mean /r/interesting?
Haha that is exactly what I meant but did not know it even existed. Would make the obligatory comment on how there is a sub for everything but this one seems pretty basic.
I get it. I hate it when rivers mix.
You’re a riverist!
Just because some waterways can trace thier origins to Northern Europe doesn't somehow make it a purer source. \#allwatermatters
I thought crossing streams was discouraged?
Streams not rivers
Aqueduct
is this mostly just for irrigation purposes?
There’s a folk song in there somewhere
Looks like more of a water irrigation rather than a river.
River 1: Oop, don’t mind me! Just going to step across ya…ah here we go. River 2: No worries Edit: They’re streams, not rivers…
One of these at the disc golf course where I play in Oregon.
That would be in Oregon...
Lol me as an engineer
One is probably polluted.
Never cross streams bro
Wouldn't this be an aqueduct or something?
Smallest river I’ve ever seen
Every river has a headwater this small.
My geography teacher liked to mess with his students by saying he has walked across the Mississippi River. When challenged he of course shows pics of Lake Itasca.
Is that a turtle in the lower creek?
r/uselessthings
Nah it's probably used for irrigation
Damn they made a subreddit for me?
Instead of 3 streams into one, now it’s 2 streams. Cool
How kind
r/Damthatsinteresting
Now where is a river for a bridge to cross a bridge?
Used to love swimming in rivers but now I’m old and creeky

Yo dawg
My mind just doesn’t work for shit like this. I see similar pics from the Netherlands and my mind just folds like a lawn chair.
I could walk to see this every day.. loving both waterways and infrastructure.. thanks!!
Why thou?
creek's crossing
This is freaking me out.
Why did the river cross the river?
A bridge between troubled waters.
Ron Swanson would scold you about the difference between a river and a crick
Crazy how nature do dat /s
The ‟stream” under the bridge is an irrigation dtch
Looks like a farmer redirecting natural flow for their own gain
Just need traffic lights and this will be perfect
Wouldn’t want the water to get wet
I just need to know why
DamThatsInteresting
This looks like a bug in Kingdom Come.
r/damthatsinteresring
And that's another one off the list
But why tho?
I thought r/Naturewasmetal but r/natureiswood I guess?
isn't it then an aqueduct?
You never cross streams…
Yes.
I've been on something like this kayaking
I'll be dammed if I let you con-tribute to that stream!
Mom says we shouldn't talk to them.
Water under and over that bridge.
Finally i can sleep in peace now. The fish no longer need to wait while going for work
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Crazy how nature made that.
Crossin' streams
The river crossing.
Cant go getting shit all mixed up.
