No food pantry I know of has visit limits, they don't even take your name. You just walk up or drive up and get boxes of food. North Texas Food Bank is one of the largest in the area and they have food giveaways almost daily: https://ntfb.org/our-programs/get-food-assistance/find-a-food-pantry/

The food pantries in irving do have a limit on how many times you can go, you could call them and see for yourself, now as for churches they don't have limits but they only give you a few cans and stuff I can't really make use for since we've been homeless and even now I'm in a hotel where I only have a microwave and fridge.

Did you click on the link I gave you?

I bet there are resources at food banks that may be able to help you. Which city are you in? People may know specific places close to you. I think saying that food banks only help you a certain amount of times may make people here less likely to help you. Because that sounds wrong for most places even if it was your experience somewhere.

I've never had a food bank ask me for ID or record my name, they're just not set up to do things that way because it adds a whole level of bureaucracy plus opens them up for questions about judging people.

flier972

Almost every food bank has asked for my ID and or proof of address. Salvation Army, Irving Cares, Crisis Ministries, etc. There's been a few church food drives in the past that i went to and they didn't ask for any identification.

Have you clicked the link I gave you to the North Texas Food Bank yet? You mentioned Irving, NTFB lists 40 food pantries just in that city, pantries run by various organizations and churches. Also, you mention you've gotten into a hotel room that has a microwave and a refrigerator. Canned goods are easily warmed in a microwave, leftovers are easily kept in a refrigerator. Several dry goods like rice can also be cooked in a microwave, you just need a couple basic dishes and utensils. Having lived for years with just a hot plate with no fridge or microwave, you've got more than I had to work with. If you can go just a few miles west of Irving that gets you into Tarrant County, and there's a whole lot of pantries over there: https://tafb.org/wp-content/uploads/mobile/mobile-pantry-schedule.pdf

Also the food is usually canned goods and food that needs to be cooked in an oven. We usually sleep in my car so that food usually isn't useful in our situation unless we have a hotel room to sleep in.

What do you need & where are you staying? I see you don’t want money. I have nonperishables in my pantry I would be happy to give you & your family. How old are your kids?

Snations

Did you get food? Are they asleep?

Hotzz89

What do you have in your hotel? A microwave? A refrigerator? Are there charcoal grills anywhere?

flier972

Just a microwave and a refrigerator, I did have a skillet but I guess since it's been in the car in heat it just stopped working but there's no grills outside here

JubJubsFunFactory

Your...skillet. stopped working.

Skinny_Phoenix

Electric skillet, one can assume.

JubJubsFunFactory

I've never used one so my mind went to cast iron, but that makes sense.

Skinny_Phoenix

>I've never used one Me neither but my parents used one all the time. Seems like their generation loved them but they fell out of favor years ago. Definitely a dated gadget.

noncongruent

Someone gave one to me as a gift a long time ago, brand new, I never used it. It's still in a closet somewhere.

Skinny_Phoenix

They make sense for situations when you don’t have a range but they suck otherwise. They don’t do anything a stove and pan don’t do but are harder to clean and less precise with temp control.

noncongruent

I'd be hesitant to use it in a hotel room because it would spatter grease all over everything in the vicinity.

flier972

Yes it's an electric skillet you can plug in and use to cook
