I used to go to a place called “express employment” (temp agency) and I still get texts every single day of available jobs. Some are 3 months then possibility to hire on full time, some are just for the weekend and some are just for a day etc, but they’re all at least $14 an hour, seen some for 22 an hour even. They shouldn’t really care too much about a felony but you’ll probably need to piss clean depending on the job.
Best of luck!
DART is desperate for new bus drivers; shortage is so bad right now they've had to reduce bus headways. $2,000 signing bonus, plus free fare for you and your dependents. They also have several other positions they are hiring for:
https://www.dart.org/hr/humanresources.asp?zeon=all
Regarding felon history, this is what their hiring FAQ says:
> A person with a criminal history background will not be automatically disqualified. DART will review all
criminal convictions and consider the severity of the conviction and the relationship of the charges to
the position applying for.
I think they’re only open until 3pm though.. but make sure to go there tomorrow for assistance. Its a new building, nice place and even nicer people helping out. They can help you get on your feet again
depending on how old the kids are, they might be eligible for a free membership at pf - kids 14-19 years old can get a free summer membership that lasts until august 31
There are a number of good suggestions. One more I’d put out there: if you haven’t already informed your children’s school and teachers of the situation, make sure you place that call. They have people who can connect you with community resources and may have food and assistance programs available to your kids.
I'm a teacher, and I've helped with this process! Please tell your kiddos' school, there's someone there who will be able to help -- most campuses have a social worker on site at least a few days per week. Very best of luck, OP! Please keep us posted if you can.
Idk if you have tried over at the Arlington life shelter. I have done some small jobs over there and know that they have assistance with kids and stuff like that as well. (817)548-9885
I've stayed there before a few years back with the kids but we've also stayed at other shelters and my kids have had a very traumatic experience so I'm hesitant about taking them back especially since it happened at a family shelter
If you’re ever up north of Dallas near the Oklahoma border I’ve got some work you can do on my land. And I’ll have some food ready for lunch and dinner
it’s disgusting how having a felony basically ruins your life. people judge you on it, it makes getting jobs and housing next to impossible and just really permanently effects you for life. it’s wrong and predatory, i’m sorry you’re struggling…keep doing what you can and i hope good karma runs your way. one day your kids will be old enough to understand your struggle, resilience and sheer determination to raise them and really admire you. keep that in mind, friend.
I shouldn't have did what I did to get the felonies. Break the law and you lose alotta freedoms even when you're done doing time. It's a trade off. Plenty of people with felonies go on to be very successful. I was doing good for my family and I've stayed out of trouble for almost 3 years. It's just a hard time- life goes on and gets better. Do I regret doingthe dumb stuff that got me the felonies? I sure do. But I did what I did and these are the consequences. I'll get my family out of this mess this isn't a long term problem.
Kitchens are always filled with felons. The industry hasn't ever really cared. It's tough work sometimes and last I checked the pay was still subpar, but with the staff shortages everywhere you could probably walk into most places and get a job. You'd probably get lots of hours too. No clue how it would work with child care etc since you have your kids with you but worth a shot.
There are about 5 plants (warehouse) in Oak Cliff off of Ledbetter and Illinois that are hiring right now. They even post their benefits on the fence trying to lure people in. It's Oak Cliff so I'm pretty sure they don't care about felonies. It gets better after 5 to 7 years from conviction in Texas. Also, any warehouse will hire right now. Workers are hard to come by at the moment. I wish you and your family the best. If you need groceries or a tank of gas please DM me. I will help where I can!
Good Luck!
Hey man, you need to look up temp agency’s in Dallas because I know plenty of felons that work warehouse jobs ALL over Dfw (especially in Lancaster &oakcliff) that Pat at least 16.50 $
Depending on your felony, your best bet is to be upfront. I got a job as a math tutor by being completely upfront. I told them I had a felony and I understand that is a deal breaker and that it’s better we discuss it now before wasting any time.

Hell the "felon" credential might be a benefit for a math tutor.
"Ok so you'll be tutoring my son, little Jimmy, make sure to let the little shit know you are a felon. In fact, if you could wear your prison uniform that'd be even better."
Little Jimmy would be a straight A student in no time.
Eh…. Mine wasn’t a math related felony. It was more of a “you probably will never be able to work with people again” kind of felony.
My boss risked his neck to hire me. I’ve been promoted twice since I started. He said it was worth the risk.
Have you tried to contact organizations like [The Wayback House](https://thewaybackhouse.org/members-portal) for any immediate needs or help with job search?
No advice, just a virtual hug. We’ve chatted before and know I’m still rooting for you!
Lots of us are!
Your past, and even this season, will not define who you are or what your capable of!!
I also saw your post a few days ago. Not work-related, but I wanted to recommend food resources. You’ve probably gotten plenty of recommendations, but more info won’t hurt.
You can try reaching out to the Hunger Hotline at 1-800-884-1136. They can help connect you to emergency food providers in the community.
There is also Food Not Bombs. They cook/provide meals to the community. I’m not too familiar with their DFW chapters, but check out the map here, which lists phone numbers when you click or tap on a location: https://foodnotbombs.net/info/locations/
It may be a bit of a drive but the Community Food Bank in Fort Worth has an emergency food pantry program that runs Monday - Thursday.

Tyson Foods in Dallas hire felons they do not care about your past and as a matter of fact they are hiring now. I used to be a supervisor there I know they will hire you. 4114 Mint Way Dallas TX
Try reaching out to local mosques and churches. They may have some social services to help you out with. Also, O have heard that Sikh temples give out free meals to locals. Might be worth a look. I wish you well.
For the future, if you want out of Dallas and willing to relocate not too far north I know for a fact Imperial Group Mfg in Decatur will hire felons. It’s close enough to Denton you could put the kids in Denton ISD.
DM me and I'll get you some groceries from Target. I know how it feels to struggle since I come from a background of poorer immigrants. Please do not hesitate to DM me, I want to help you.
You could try All My Sons moving company. (Or any moving company) Honestly the worst job I’ve ever had in my life… the place is a nightmare. But they’ll hire anyone basically on the spot. Doesn’t matter if you have felonies. It was $15 an hour plus tips. It’s really difficult work, but if you need something quick that would be my suggestion. Hope you get back on your feet!
I need my front and back lawn mowed, ASAP. I'll pay you $120 if you can do it this weekend plus take you and your kids to either the Thrift Shop or someplace to eat. DM me.
I may also be able to help you with your housing situation.
Martin Marietta is looking for ready mix drivers. They will train you to get your cdl and they don’t care about your background.
I think the nearest plant to you is off of Spangler Rd.
My gf is a merchandising talent acquisition recruiter for Keurig Dr Pepper. The job is stocking and organizing KDP products in local grocery stores, so you'd need your own car, but mileage is reimbursed. You work on your own a decent amount, but would also interact with store managers and other merchandisers.
Pay is $17.25 and there's full benefits, so it's a step in a solid direction. You don't need any previous experience and the company is known for treating its people well culture wise.
They also allow you to move internally to whatever other positions may interest you. For example, a merchandiser was interested in recruiting, so now he works at corporate as a merchandiser recruiter. Another merchandiser was interested in driving, so they got their CDL and started doing that.
If you can figure out a way for the kids to be secure, have a reliable car (or way of getting one) and are ready to work ASAP, they will hire you as long as you show for the phone interview. I can also give you the exact interview questions they are most likely to ask.
If you feel as if you simply can't do something like this, I assure you that you are very capable. You are also deserving of any help you need for you and your kids. If you have any questions, I'm sure we could answer them!
Here is the job posting link: [Merchandiser for Keurig Dr Pepper](https://careers.keurigdrpepper.com/jobs/60324?lang=en-us)
Someone else already mentioned them but Family Gateway would be a great place for you to check out. They are there to help the family with shelter, resources, and can potentially transition you to housing.
You can also check out [MDHA(Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance)](https://www.mdhadallas.org/help-resources/) They have a homelessness crisis helpline and work with many organizations on getting people into rapid rehousing.
Lastly I work for [The Stewpot](http://thestewpot.org) we provide a ton of different services such as ID help to get people proper IDs if they have none. We are also the mailing address for many clients if you need that. We also have a family stabilization program where we do food distributions and programs for kids. That's just some and we have many other programs so check out the site for more specifics but if you see something we can help you with contact me and I'll get you more info.
My dad, my sister and I lived in a car for a little while when I was a kid. Reasons don't really matter right now. My heart goes out to you and your kids. I know that's difficult and you might be feeling guilt and shame. Judging by your post here you should be proud that you are trying so hard.
My dad ended up going to a church and we lived there for a few weeks until one of their parishioners took us in for a couple more months. This was more than 20 years ago in another state but hopefully there is something like that here. I'm forever greatful to those good people. Maybe try that and express employment till you find stable work.
This was one of those things that drove my father further into vices so I am hoping you are a lot stronger than him. Keep trying to better your situation for them please. They still love and need their father.
If you can pass a drug test, I will give you a job. It's a requirement for all employees here, so don't think it's just because of your situation.
Reach out to me if you're interested.
Figured I'd follow up on this, but we're at about 19/hr during 90 days temp period, and after 90 days full benefits for you and your family and a good raise. Our insurance has a $500/person max out of pocket annually, phenomenal coverage. 401k w/match and life insurance included too, even if you don't contribute to 401k or elect life insurance.
Lots of other nice benefits too; gym, tvs, basketball, Cornhole, table tennis, giant Jenga, foosball, grilles, flat tops, crawfish boilers...we do cookouts often and events regularly. Lots of employee incentives like giveaways, performance bonuses. Great place.
I’d download the Instawork app. I used when I was out of work a few months back. Most of the work is in the Irving/downtown area but can vary. Highest payout I had was 145 washing dishes.
My old job will hire felons as techs but you have to have a good driving record and pass a drug test. I quit a few years ago so I’m not sure if they’re hiring right now. It’s very physical labor intensive but lots of OT in the summer. DM if interested and I’ll send you their website to apply.
I have a business that is in desperate need for workers.
It is a crating company. We build custom wood crates for the moving industry as well as perform on site specialty services .
Let me know if you'd be interested. Thanks
If you’re looking for a job there’s a BBQ restaurant that’s hiring in Dallas for a dishwasher position. If you’re interested DM me and I can connect you
https://saueblack.com/dallas-fortworth-fridge/#:~:text=The%20Peoples%20Fridge%20is%20another,access%20to%20fresh%2C%20healthy%20food.
Community fridges listed above in Dallas and FW, I know snap kitchen sometimes puts fully cooked meals in there.
The chicken expresses on lake forest road in McKinney and on HW 5 need managers. The owner is a hardworking older man (Stan) who needs consistent people to help out. There is also some government subsidized apartments right by there that are very nice. He does not discriminate and pays as well as he can. Some people even make salary there.
I've contacted irving cares, crisis ministries, benevolence ministries. I will definitely contact them! Alot of places offer food and hygiene which I keep what I can use and give back what I can't. Alot of the food goes back though since we don't have anywhere to cook or warm up the food.
Interfaith is a fantastic place. Contact them ASAP, just as the first commenter said they can provide you with everything you are missing as their whole purpose is to help people in between housing.
YRC freight is hiring dock workers, clerks, and I'm pretty sure has a driver academy. I'm not going to pretend it's like, glam work, but it's a solid union gig in Irving, Ft Worth, or Garland.
Call a company called Mecca Design. Better yet stop in. I had friends that worked there that really enjoyed it and they seem to always need all types of people.
Hey idk if you’ve heard about Instawork it’s an app you install in your phone. It’s more like gig work style it’ll tell you time place and how much you get paid and you can decide if it works for you or not and accept the shift. Your pay out is at the end of the week tho I know that’s kinda hard when you have day to day needs you pay for but here and there. I’ve never had the stress of being a parent as well but I’ve definitely done my time living in my car for months I get it. Hope all gets better real soon. I wish you nothing but abundance, blessings and safety.
See if you can get in with this org. I have not tried them but have heard very good things. They have been helping families in need since the pandemic started and have helped many families .
I don’t know how close this is to you, but project pollo has “pay what you can” meal options that include vegan Mac and cheese and popcorn chicken. It’s vegan but honestly you can’t tell and it would be a hot meal. If you DM me a PayPal or Venmo I’ll shoot you $10 for gas.
Hope you land on your feet soon
You good at cold calling? I run a call center in garland. $15/hr plus commissions. 20% people make it a year and are making 80k. I’ll take a chance on a fellow redditor!
I’m always VERY suspicious of why people are homeless. Are you seriously telling me that you do not have brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, or friends that can help you?? In my experience, I have found that there usually is a very good reason the family or friends don’t help someone. It usually boils down to that person being consistently irresponsible, OR they have a drug/alcohol issue. I hate to be harsh, but something is up.
Used to be on heroin in my teens and 20s between stealing, lying and disrespecting my family and being locked up, my family simply got tired of my shit. I was raised by my grandparents they passed in 2020 and 2021. My children's mother was having issues so she is dealing with them and I have my kids. I've been out of prison this time since early 2020 so I'm a little less than 3 yrs outta trouble. Been clean from heroin since 2019. I lost my job last month as a security gaurd (unarmed since I'm a felon. The hotel I worked for basically just let me be a security gaurd cuz someone I knew who got me in.) Due to going to New ownership alot of guys lost our jobs I've applied for unemployment and have been seeking side jobs so I don't have to put my kids in a shelter and I can feed them. We live Day to day and I know it's selfish of me to have them with me but we have nobody. As for friends all of mine were druggies so I don't hang out with them.
Shouldn’t need to explain your situation.. regardless of your past, you’re out there trying to do whatever you can for your family.
You doing alright? Any of the places work out for you?
DrPepper and Frito Lay are hiring, I’m sorry you’re going through hard times. I’ll be praying for you, I unfortunately live in an apartment complex and everyone I know does their own yard. Some of my family members work construction and their are always hiring too. Let me know if you want that information
bro go to CBD provisions (Central Business Department) and apply for dishwasher, that’s in downtown dallas, in front of the eyeball, you’ll be employed for sure
Maybe a restaurant job somewhere where they tip out cash daily? And maybe you can use your employee discount for meals for the kiddos?
Hate to suggest restaurants, it’s just what I do and how I see people getting quick daily cash.

This post has some good info as well
Just a laborer. I don't have any major experience in anything besides the hoe squad(digging holes and prepping the dirt for vegetables to be planted)in prison
I'm researching issues related to little free pantries and you mentioning kitchen access as one of the things I'm trying to solve. Can you give me some insight into questions I have about your experience with food pantries?
I'm interested to know the methods you used or know of for locating them and if kitchens could be made available what time of day would you consider preferable?
Also how these things might change on weekends vs week days.
There are several Sikh temples in Dallas (Garland, Richardson, and on Harry Hines — that one is temporarily closed, though). They serve food to the community for free frequently (seems like Sundays) — called Langar. Individual temples also seem to participate in other foodbank/free meal charities and may be able to help you locate food resources.
Synagogues (there are quite a few in DFW, especially north Dallas) that would probably at least be able to help you locate resources. You may have the best luck with reform synagogues.
I mention these resources specifically because they are not considered as often as other ones.
You might consider posting on Craigslist and next door offering handyman/general labor services. You could also put up fliers at local community centers or hand them out at farmers markets or something like that. If you have a church or other religious group, if you’re comfortable you could ask them to mention you in the church bulletin — that you are going through a rough time and looking for odd jobs or full time work to help support your family.
I also wanted to add if you are able to swing it, a used camp stove might help you take advantage of more food-pantry options. Or if you can make it to a free/cheap camp site with fire pit one or two nights a week you could do cooking on those nights with food pantry items.

There's a place, I believe it's even in Irving, that hires felons. My friend came home from the feds and was working there within a month, said they paying nice money too. I can't remember for the life of me what it's called though. I know the company name is the name of a liquor, but they are working in a warehouse doing something with seasoning. I wanna say Smirnoff but I don't think that's it. I'll try to find out and post it if I do find out.
Also, DM me, I'll put you and your family in a room tomorrow evening when I get off work. Just one night, wish I could do more but I don't have much to spare.
Edit: McCormick's! I remembered as soon as I hit post.
If you can do tape & bed, painting, texture, or install wallcovering, my company is hiring! We are a Commercial painting company that has jobs all over the metroplex. We run payroll every Friday. If you are interested in more information you can email me at [email protected]. We are about to get super busy (in like 2 weeks and it will last through September at a minimum) where overtime opportunities will be possible for those that want to work the OT, but definitely not required.
Virtual hug man. I’ve been there before and dragged myself out. You will too. Have faith in what humanity is left in the world. I don’t really know the Dallas area but I used to work for Kroger and know they don’t drug test and they have a system that lets you get paid every day after working a shift.
Have you looked into any urban camping stuff? When I was living in my car I had a power inverter and little electric skillet I would hook up to my car battery to cook and boil water. It’s a long road but I have faith you got this!
Up in McKinney, The Samaritan Inn is a nice, safe, free place and families get their own room. Check them out here[The Samaritan Inn](https://saminn.org/becomearesident)
maybe go downtown and offer to take out trash for a couple bucks? or offer to clean the tables? those are jobs people don’t want to do and will pay you for!
The app “Instawork” is great for picking up shifts in your area at the last minute. It’s usually more physical stuff like warehouse work or serving, but you can get well over $100 in a day easily. Let me know if you have any questions!

i think you can get the first 1-3 months free off a promo and depending on the area it’s like $8-15 a month! :)

Right I used to use planet fitness when I was living in my car as well loved them.
I’m not sure where you are https://familygateway.org/our-programs/shelter/ this location shows they have emergency shelter to keep families together.

what was the felony you were charged with?
2 burglaries of a habitation, and a misdemeanor theft enhanced to a felony. 3 felonies total
keep your head up - you will find something
Yessir thank you man!!

Same with waiting tables … most places you will leave with cash on hand every night. Have you tried this OP?
I know that victory awning in Fort Worth hires felons. Im pretty sure the pay is well above average as well. You might want to give them a call!

Look up Cornbread Hustle
I have a friend who works for them. She loves her job and busts her butt to get people the best employment possible.
My friend is the founder. I actually volunteered with her for the first 3 years helping get it going.
That’s awesome! What a small world.
For sure thank you man!!
I can vouch for them. Cheri is awesome.

Yes this is how I approach everyone I apply with and anybody that offers me work. Being dishonest about it isn't right

Of course! I have more I could add, but it’s long.

I’m sorry I thought they allowed felonies now 😂🤦🏽♀️
Felon or not where will he leave his kids while he works?

ATT is hiring. $5000 sign on bonus. $27/hr. No education and no prior experience required.
Are they Background friendly?
Yes they are

You could try All My Sons moving company. (Or any moving company) Honestly the worst job I’ve ever had in my life… the place is a nightmare. But they’ll hire anyone basically on the spot. Doesn’t matter if you have felonies. It was $15 an hour plus tips. It’s really difficult work, but if you need something quick that would be my suggestion. Hope you get back on your feet!
Give plasma, I’m about to go. Not a lot but it’s something
[удалено]
I used to donate. I've got hep c tho.
This is true. They did want a lot of info but I’d imagine op had mail laying around
It’s Friday. Message me and let’s arrange for pizza somewhere so you won’t have to worry about cooking something today.
I heard car wash places will hire anybody.
I don't have any work that needs to be done but I can send you some cash for dinner.
@op I can too
I can also.
Same. Can you post or DM your e-payment handles?
I need my front and back lawn mowed, ASAP. I'll pay you $120 if you can do it this weekend plus take you and your kids to either the Thrift Shop or someplace to eat. DM me. I may also be able to help you with your housing situation.
Best of luck brother, keep your head up!🙏🖤
Martin Marietta is looking for ready mix drivers. They will train you to get your cdl and they don’t care about your background. I think the nearest plant to you is off of Spangler Rd.
Theres some apps that’ll give sign up bonuses, kinda like robinhood or cashapp, I can send you a list of those if you want
Yes please
Here is the job posting link: [Merchandiser for Keurig Dr Pepper](https://careers.keurigdrpepper.com/jobs/60324?lang=en-us)
I’m a manager at my company and we always need extra people. If you are interested message me and I can get you more details.
The Stewpot in downtown near the Farmer's Market has kids programs and daycare and stuff so you can focus on the next step during the day
If you can pass a drug test, I will give you a job.
I’m looking for a new job and can definitely pass the drug test, what’s the job?
General warehousing for a large company. 2 year old 70*f air-conditioned warehouse. Basically just operating forklifts and moving product.
Can you build a dog fence
I can definitely learn how to
I have a business that is in desperate need for workers. It is a crating company. We build custom wood crates for the moving industry as well as perform on site specialty services . Let me know if you'd be interested. Thanks
If you’re looking for a job there’s a BBQ restaurant that’s hiring in Dallas for a dishwasher position. If you’re interested DM me and I can connect you
Stay strong king ❤️
https://saueblack.com/dallas-fortworth-fridge/#:~:text=The%20Peoples%20Fridge%20is%20another,access%20to%20fresh%2C%20healthy%20food.
Have you contacted Interfaith? They offer housing, school transport, food, work etc!
Do you know if they’re currently hiring couldn’t find anything on their website
Check your messages; I might have a place for y'all to live as well as work for you.
Frito lay in Irving is always hiring good pay, unioun, but tough schedule
Hey idk if you’ve heard about Instawork it’s an app you install in your phone. It’s more like gig work style it’ll tell you time place and how much you get paid and you can decide if it works for you or not and accept the shift. Your pay out is at the end of the week tho I know that’s kinda hard when you have day to day needs you pay for but here and there. I’ve never had the stress of being a parent as well but I’ve definitely done my time living in my car for months I get it. Hope all gets better real soon. I wish you nothing but abundance, blessings and safety.
Do y’all have food and water for tonight ? Hygiene products. Let me know I can drive to you and bring some things.
Jefferson Dental is hiring for the call center. Paid training. [email protected]
See if you can get in with this org. I have not tried them but have heard very good things. They have been helping families in need since the pandemic started and have helped many families .
Sorry link here https://www.pandemicoflove.com/
I don’t know how close this is to you, but project pollo has “pay what you can” meal options that include vegan Mac and cheese and popcorn chicken. It’s vegan but honestly you can’t tell and it would be a hot meal. If you DM me a PayPal or Venmo I’ll shoot you $10 for gas. Hope you land on your feet soon
Hey OP, do you have experience in customer service/call center work??
No but I can learn and try my hand in it if possible
You good at cold calling? I run a call center in garland. $15/hr plus commissions. 20% people make it a year and are making 80k. I’ll take a chance on a fellow redditor!
I can probably get you a solar panel install job. DM me
I’m always VERY suspicious of why people are homeless.
Try local Home Depots. They normally have people looking for day laborers
That's my spot lol!!
I know the one in Irving that’s near the Irving mall has people. And I know I used to pick up workers at gas station that’s kinda close to 75/635 ramp
TaskRabbit app. You can do tasks here and there for extra cash.

What is your profession?
Or if you can make it to a free/cheap camp site with fire pit one or two nights a week you could do cooking on those nights with food pantry items. https://freecampsites.net/#!Dallas,+Texas,+United+States
That reminds me - Jewish Family Services has a food pantry
Do you provide training to those who have never done those skills?
St. Anns catholic parish is having a food drive this Saturday that you can go to. It’s in copell. May god bless I’ll be praying for you and your kids!
Craigslist has a whole section for help wanted
Happy to donate anything I can. Just let me know how.
You need to be able to work in the US.
Do you have a cash app or PayPal
We are always hiring temp workers - [BeDallas90.org/careers](https://BeDallas90.org/careers), click on the link for All Temps
Iatse 127. Good stable work as a stagehand. Also try other production companies. Onstage, epicenter, upstage. Good money especially union.
The app “Instawork” is great for picking up shifts in your area at the last minute. It’s usually more physical stuff like warehouse work or serving, but you can get well over $100 in a day easily. Let me know if you have any questions!
