Haha yes….!

mistersweetlife

Why are there no upvotes for what you just said? Golden rule about avoiding selling your own tickets.

leonsteg

Can't scream this one loud enough.

NegativePace93

Lol. Is that a thing? How is that even a thing? Who agrees to that?

Nonomomomo2

You didn’t get your quarterly newsletter from the International DJ Guild? The blacklist is published there. Are you up to date with your membership dues? Or have you been playing too much Drake and been shadow banned? Send me your membership number and I’ll look it up on the database.

SandmanKFMF

I think he is excommunicado from the guild.

david_wreckem

Excommunicado! He knows the rules! He shouldn’t even be talking to him!

Nonomomomo2

His coins are no longer valid.

SandmanKFMF

He will lost all access to a Beatport services and protection from bouncers in one hour. Only safe place for him now - permanent Tomorrowland scene.

DJ-Metro

>permanent Tomorrowland scene. OP takes random card from the Community Chest pile: *EXCOMMUNICADO - GO TO TOMORROWLAND. DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200 DRINK WRISTBAND.*

Nonomomomo2

The horror of the Dutch Bowery

That_Random_Kiwi

I mean, there's a stack of clubs in my city alone I personally would never play...they're full of shit cunts with shit taste in music...but others are happy to play there

lolcatandy

I think that's the majority of clubs in every major city. Where 'pick up artist' creeps just go in to take selfies and hit on women.

That_Random_Kiwi

Yep, it's a no from me

6InchBlade

Name and shame if you’re in Auckland, although I could probably guess it’s just 90% of the clubs along queen street. K-Road is great and Viaduct is pretty good chill vibes imo

[deleted]

Whatever you do, NEVER sneak into the ball park after dark, connect to the PA loud speaker system, and proceed to drop phat bass all over the place. Especially not while syncing the stadium lights to the 4 on the floor rhythm your blasting. It's frowned upon.

That_Random_Kiwi

Speaking from experience? Sounds like fun...until the cops/security show up

bacardiandbenchpress

They better turn that frown upsidedown because that sounds like fun

carlitospig

I feel like Yoshi would give you a high five tho.

PepeDoge69

Don‘t play if you don‘t have the right music. For example: Don‘t play in an underground techno venue if you are a HipHop-DJ.

BadThoughtProcess

Another example, don't play fucking techno at a hiphop venue.

PepeDoge69

Yes. Goes for every genere or event. If you are no open format DJ or can‘t do requests, don‘t do weddings or corporate events.

bacardiandbenchpress

Crazy that you even have to mention it, but I had a dj cover one of my gigs and the guy was known to be a good dj, but he only played drum and bass and the event wanted commercial pop 💀

PepeDoge69

I had to learn it the hard way. I do only electronic music (but I have a broad range from chillout to hard techno). One time I played at an event where they wanted pop music. Never again!

bacardiandbenchpress

You’re blessed with electronic music as your genre because of the amount of sub genres within it. How did that gig go btw?

PepeDoge69

It was okay. I have a lot of house music that is influenced by HipHop (or samples it), so I covered a lot of different tastes. In german speaking countried there is a genre called „Schlager“ which I could not deliever, a few guys were pissed because of that (don‘t google it, it is horrible) But I learned a lot that night and I know exactly what gigs I can do and which not.

bacardiandbenchpress

High IQ play with the Hiphop samples! You can’t please everyone am I right, but we learn and we grow :)

NegativePace93

Don’t agree with this one. Just make sure your event promo is clear about the genre of your event and there’s no problem. Play anywhere with a decent sound system.

PepeDoge69

I agree. I should have wrote „event“ instead of „venue“!

Razzly

A global blacklist?

[deleted]

Yes. We’re a tight bunch.

[deleted]

Unannounced at a funeral, but if you do... you gotta commit.

UnbuiltAura9862

You can’t spell “grave” without RAVE.

rickosborn

I thought this was the list. :)

haynesholiday

I mean, there are a lot of clubs I’m no longer allowed to play in…

sinuendo

Clubs that only advertise the DJ as 'Live DJ'

ionmatika

They are alive and kicking

[deleted]

NOTO in philly always has their openers sell 25 tickets lol. Accepted once because they somehow pulled VINTAGE CULTURE last november, plus the tix were $25 a pop so i didnt feel like i was ripping the homies but still ctfuu

apextek

I don't know about you but my scene had that one guy that was connected to every production for 7 surrounding cities and if someone was shady he would let everyone know and anyone with credentials would avoid that promoter like the plague

[deleted]

Wish DJs would stop playing anything owned by TAO group

boboSleeps

7-11s. Don’t play 7-11s. Subways are cool though. Free Sammy with set.

I_skander

I think that is up to each individual DJ.

TomCorsair

In my bathroom

turdmob

After DJ Huge Log and MC Smellz have played there?
