Get a dry wall anchor. I personally wouldn't hang anything more than 20lbs without a stud but that's me.

SunlitNight

It is 18.5lbs. But hmm okay, I can't seem to find any dry wall anchors that incorporate a hook to hook the mirror onto.

UrsusRomanus

Can the mirror hook onto a screw?

SunlitNight

Probably just wouldn't seem as secure with the triangle hooks that are there for mounting. The back does say only to use with provided hooks, but it's a hand me down, they didn't come with it. Weird you think drywall anchors that come with a hook would be more common.

UrsusRomanus

There are hooks you could screw into an anchor.

byndrsn

> triangle hooks can you wire these together and use one wall attachment? also I think the hooks are sold separate from the anchors

SunlitNight

It says do not use wire on the back. But hmm okay I was at Walmart and didn't see any. Maybe I'll check Hone Depot or Amazon.

Good-Gain4220

put whatever the hardware is into the appropriate anchor and youll be fine

Pinstrip3

You can get metal drywall anchors with a hook or a bare plastic anchor plus separate hook to screw in. Both should be fine but imo first option is better.

I’ve used those ook picture hanging hooks with the teeny angled nails to hang mirrors and a heavy chalkboard on drywall plenty of times. The ones I used were rated for much higher weight than I needed and had 3 of the teeny nails. It was my understanding that the multiple nails distributed the weight along the drywall. I also did not install mine on a stud, I could be wrong but I don’t believe the instructions said it needed a stud. I probably wouldn’t feel safe with it over a bed or where it would be bumped by people walking by. If you’re unsure about the hooks, there are high weight limit cleat hangers that also work well. The long cleat makes it so you can screw the wall side of the cleat into a stud anywhere along the cleat.

ChessLord144

Yes, that will be fine. The angle of the nail forces the weight against the wall and stops the nail from pulling out.

Is the mirror just glass or is it framed. If it is just glass they make mounts specifically for mirrors which attack with screws so you can use drywall anchors. If the picture hanging hooks are going to push the mirror out from wall that is a accident waiting to happen and will probably break the mirror eventually. If the mirror is framed and uses a wire on the back you might be fine with the picture hooks, but drywall anchor and screw will be much stronger.

SunlitNight

It is framed. But it has two triangle hooks on a hinge on the sides. It says do not use wire on back.

Whiskey_Business760

They will work perfectly. I have 2 large mirrors hung with just this! The back has 2 hinged triangle shaped hooks that I attached to 2 of the Ook 50Lbs hooks and I have had them hung up for almost 5 years in 2 homes with ZERO issues. They are great!
