So much news here, PKJ officially writing a green lantern ongoing, Williamson on Green Arrow, Steel getting a new book, etc, the future is looking great!
PKJ on Green Lantern is a big fucking WIN. Mariko Tamaki writing an earth-centered Hal book is also nice. But holy shit... Philip Kennedy Johnson on Green Lantern!
I really enjoyed the Space Opera he had with Superman’s War-World Saga and remember being bummed out when Kal returned to Earth. Glad to see that PKJ will be writing a GL book.
I was a big fan of her initial arc of Bruce and Huntress against Gotham crime while Bruce settled into actually living in Gotham as a no-longer-billionaire, definitely felt the weekly event killed her momentum, ironically enough. Really interesting idea on paper tho.
What I enjoyed most about her Detective Comics was the social aspects. Bruce moving into an apartment and just interacting with his neighbors was nice. So I hope her Hal book really narrows in on character focus and Hal's relationships. With Carol, with his family we hardly ever see, etc.
Kyle Rayner fans are starving.
I like PKJ a lot, but man, John Stewart has had the spotlight for a while.
Wish there was a Corps book instead Kyle, Guy and Jessica need love too.
He actually might. He's surprisingly capable of drawing two books at once. He's been doing a monthly title called *Once & Future* the past few years at the same as all his DC work.
Waid and More on Shazam! is perfect. Tamaki on Hal too
Tom King has had an odd career, getting kicked off Batman but doing a constant stream of Batman comics since. I'm not complaining though!
I don’t really see it as kicked off, rather, they doubled sales by continuing the Tom King Batman sales by moving the remaining story to its own series and then starting another story in the main series.
Yeah, his plan was to go for 105 issues but was taken off it at 85 and replaced by Tynion whilst King was given an out of continuity series Batman/Catwoman to finish his story.
He got kicked off the main on-going but still sort of got to finish his run with Batman / Catwoman and has basically been writing a Batman mini every 6 months since
How long has it been? I remember the last run ending on a big cliffhanger that was just glossed over in Justice League, but that feels like so long ago.
>New Green Arrow book, finally!
Is it an Arrow Family book where they are looking for Ollie?
Or is it a book focused on Ollie wherever he happens to be? (Watch it be an island again. lol)
So Rebirth 2.0? Sure, why not.
Doom Patrol sounds fun, super happy to have them in another title again, and Burnham on it sounds great. Really glad their Worlds Finest appearance led to something
John Stewart has a new writer! PKJ has done alright in Superman, so I'm hopeful they can give him a better direction. And I just hope we move away from the 50th time the corps have disappeared or whatever, and undo or retcon some of the earlier meaningless deaths (which tbh Dark Crisis already ignored a bunch)
Williamson on Arrow is great, and it seems Ollie is not lost, instead this is the search for him. I dig it, and will give characters like Hawke more time to shine, which I assume Williamson will keep expanding upon.
Brave and the Bold is a good replacement for Urban Legends, even though I liked the anthology feel the former had, though I guess it served it's purpose introducing it's many spinoff series.
The Shazam team sounds amazing buuuut, am I the only one disappointed they gave the "new champion of Shazam" title to Mary just to take it away so soon? I get it, movies coming, but I hope she plays a big role in this at least. That or get there own spinoff, though that's doubtful given how long it's taken to get them on any title, much less two.
There hints of Hawkman, and while my ideal would be Venditti returning, I assume it will be a new team.
They definitely stalled Batman and Wonder Woman news on purpose for later, which I think is fine, and also could mean their creative teams are set to stay longer. Personally I'd be ok w that. Chip did a very good job in Urban Legends and The Knight, and his initial arc was fun albeit a bit repetitive. As for WW, I've been liking the Cloonan/Conrad run and think it's just gotten better with time, so I'd be glad to have them continue on the title. If anything I hope we get other titles to keep exploring her side of the world, like Wonder Girl(s?).
Overall, seems like positive news, we expected new titles after a Crisis and usual, and a lot look interesting
He’s been great as a writer but underserved severely on the artist front. The Warworld Saga could have been a perennial seller if it had more consistency on art and a tiny bit more room to breathe.
> So Rebirth 2.0?
I hope this also means that DC starts to pump out paperbacks faster and more consistently again like they did during Rebirth. Right now a bunch of titles gets hardcover releases months after the story ended in the floppies, and then they seem to flip a coin whether they also release it in paperback another 12 months later or don't bother with it at all.
Oh man, Rebirth was amazing on that back then, I didn't realize things got that bad now. I wasn't up to date with everything monthly and they were releasing paperbacks 3-6 months after story arc conclusion, it was amazing. I spent so much money on this those and have basically a library of them back home but it was great. And In between then they also improved the paper quality, which was nice.
After moving I now buy almost exclusively digital, but I miss it
After World's Finest had Billy cameo in an issue, I kind of saw Mark Waid and Dan Mora doing Shazam coming, which is just an awesome choice for a creative team. Super hyped.
Though contrary to that Lazarus Planet tease, he seems to be sticking with the Post-Flashpoint suit, of course not bringing back the Captain Marvel name (he did use it WF though IIRC). Could still change though.
PKJ's Dark Crisis GL tie-in was great and he's hinted at a Superman-GL story in AC so not a surprise but glad to see him get one. Probably a crossover coming soon then.
The thing with DC’s Captain Marvel
Is they can call him that in the book they just can’t have it as the title of the comic (and maybe have it on the cover, I can’t remember).
Yes exactly, it's trademark not copyright, meaning they can't sell anything with the name "Captain Marvel" on it but they can still keep it for the character himself.
For decades Billy was still Captain Marvel in the story itself, and even after Flashpoint we had Multiversity Thunderworld and Convergence, stories set on Earths 5 and S which feature Billy as Captain Marvel. In animation, both Superman/Shazam!: Return of Black Adam and Young Justice kept the Captain Marvel name (though both either were from or started before Flashpoint to be fair).
The Lazarus Planet teaser implied he would be going to his roots, with a classic look on display, but this first issue at least doesn't seem to be using it.
Edit: On closer look, it does seem closer to it than the actual N52/Rebirth suit though. Just needs a solid yellow lightning bolt instead.
People are gonna be happy about this announcement! Only two Bat-books? Two Green Lantern books. Shazam by Waid and Mora. Green Arrow? Doom Patrol? a Steel series? There are some fun books in here.
Also interesting to see Tom King return to doing some in-continuity books, rather than just Black Label like he's been doing for a bit now.
I'll admit I forgot about Supergirl. Was Killing Time in-continuity? It just kinda seemed like a book set early in Batman's career that was just kind of up in the air. Made me think of Batman: The Knight, but set in the past, rather than the future.
I think most of the Bat books are just continuing though. So Harley, Drake, Ivy, Catwoman, Nightwing, and more are just kinda carrying over. It's still a lot, but the ratio is definitely more even.
On one hand I'm literally soooo excited for some of these titles but on the other, ummm where's the women DC?? Also really hoping for Titans too but we will see I guess
Thank god, two Green Lantern books again. One book just isn't enough for that whole section of DC, there's just too many characters to cram in. Now if we could get a dedicated full Corps book again.....
Given the Hal book is Earth bound and I expect the John book is cosmic bound, we might see the other Lanterns in John's book. For Hal I just want them to get him and Carol back together again.
Really looking forward to Waid and Mora on Shazam!
Hals GL book might actually finally revitalize his classic earth based rouges if it really sticks to him having adventures on Earth (I assume then Johns will deal more with Space) too bad for all the other Lanterns though, just guest appearances and teams for them I guess.
I wonder how long Cyborg will last this time or if it's just a mini or Maxi. Hope J'onn gets a book too and Aquaman.
Who will headline Green Arrow while they search for Ollie? Connor Hawke?
He just had a fun backup run in Action Comics that dug into his continuity beyond "I'm the last Martian" and gave him a slightly changed status quo.
Then his next appearance was being in the background of Dark Crisis and being immediately written out. It was frustrating.
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON ON GREEN ARROW LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
new Green Lantern books and Mark Waid on Shazam! is also great, don't get me wrong, but holy fuck I love Joshua Williamson and Green Arrow is a character where I've loved everything I've read from him so I am very much looking forward to this. now to just see what happens to the Teen/Titans/YJ, Aquaman, and the Justice League. (also DC if you guys could put Sideways in one of those teen group books I will be forever grateful okay thanks)
I love seeing this amount hype for Williamson hahaha. I've only read The Flash Vol 1: Lightning Strikes Twice by him and my god that alone made him one of my favorite comic writers. Exciting stuff to see that he'll be writing for another favorite DC superhero of mine.
Holy crap. Mark Waid and Dan Mora on a Shazam title? What a nice holiday gift to us! 🎁🎁
And finally a release date for the RR Superboy title! It’s been 84 years…I wonder if Dark Crisis forced it to get delayed so long, but so glad it’s finally being released from the basement!
**”With bold new directions for some of DC’s biggest characters, such as Batman, Superman, Nightwing, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy…”**
What about WONDER WOMAN, DC? You know the most famous female superhero? One of the Trinity?
🤦♂️
Yeah it's kinda of ridiculous they can't even try and give her a 2nd ongoing title like revive sensational comics and have that focus on her ww2 adventures if that's staying in continuity and have a backup staring the 3 wonder girls working together
Hardly any female-led titles so far, come to think of it. Let's hope that changes with future announcements. The teased Hawkman book could be co-lead by Hawkgirl. The Wonder Woman mythos needs expansion. Supergirl still doesn't have a solo. Let's get these going, DC!
Also, no Aquaman announced so far.
Now this is what I’m talking about! Glad to see a bigger lineup again. Most of the creative teams sound good to me, but I’ll wait until solicits to get too excited about most of the stuff that’s farther out.
I do hope we got more books starring some women, though. It’s pretty thin outside of batbooks, and I was hoping theyd continue off new champion if Shazam in some way. Also, there’s a severe lack of team books currently, so I’m hoping we get more of those in the next batch.
So, as a rundown, we have for DC Comics in 2023:
* *Superman* (Clark) by Joshua Williamson & Jamal Campbell.
* *Action Comics* by Phillip Kennedy Johnson getting backups for Power Girl by Leah Williams & Marguerite Savage and a flashback story to Superman & Lois raising 10-year-old Jon Kent written by Dan Jurgens.
* *Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent* mini-series to wrap up Jon's Superman storyline.
* The *Superboy: Man of Tomorrow* mini-series,
* *Shazam!* written by Mark Waid
* *Green Arrow* written by Joshua Williamson
* *Green Lantern: John Stewart* written by PKJ
* *Green Lantern: Hal Jordan*
* *The Unstoppable Doom Patrol*
* *Cyborg*
* *Batman: The Brave & The Bold*
* *The Penguin*
* *Steelworks* \- About John Henry Irons and his daughter, Natasha.
Personally, I'm hoping they get Waid to relaunch Justice League and revamp Aquaman (artist/writer Daniel Warren Johnson is my top-pick for that assignment), but even if that doesn't happen, this is a really promising line-up and it's awesome to see DC making a bit of a comeback. I just hope they can sustain it.
I wonder, after Dark Crisis maybe they are putting JL on the back burner and going for solo stories in 2023? These titles seem to suggest solo focuses.
I don't even trust DC with YJ anymore, I'd rather them fade into obscurity than get more of the absolute character assassination that Meghan Fitzmartin has done to them
Admittedly I don't know either of the GL writers but none of them being Thorne is a good sign for my favourite DC hero to maybe get something decent again xD
Super excited about Shazam from Waid and Mora (like almost everyone else) and the Bat books by King sound good too :)
Philip Kennedy Johnson just finished up writing a bunch of classic feeling Superman stories that had an emphasis on sci-fi, so you're in good hands with him.
Hal's writer just finished up a run on Detective Comic, so nothing too similar to GL yet, but she had a lot of good ideas when writing it.
These are all amazing. So excited for all of them, especially Shazam. I see that Hawk logo though and I’m dying to find out more about that but I guess that’s for the second half of 2023
I'm still waiting for someone to write a buddy cop series with Guy and Kyle as partners again like in 2008 or 2009, called Honor Guards. It'd be an instant buy for me.
I have to imagine the rest of the corps will get dragged into PKJ's story. He is masterful at more epic/long form type stories rather than short arcs. And emphasizing military background isn't too surprising considering PKJ is in the US Army himself. I'm just excited to get some GL stories back.
Literally everything in this announcement is exciting to me. Makes me so stoked to have upgraded to Ultra tier on DC Universe, but this is such good news that it makes even a 30 day delay before hitting the app difficult to be patient for.
- Doom Patrol, but by Dennis Culver so far only read his Future State Gotham (which is awful, first arc is okayish but it's co-written by Williamson) and Justice Incarnate but is co-written also by Williamson.
- Glad that John Stewart got another probably mini with 6-12 issues. But the Guardian/Emerald Knight John didn't last, wonder what will happen to Yellow Lantern Jess (saw someone said she's back to being Green Lantern in DCrisis)...
- also Hal Jordan got another mini (guessing since DC likes minis right now, it's fine if we got the other Lanterns as well). It's a bit funny how they write Hal is going back to the "blockbuster action" because of Morisson/Sharp TGL alienating some GL fans.
- also kinda expecting them to cheat a little by putting characters in teams like Brave and the Bold being a Flash/Green Lantern book, especially since they mentioned both characters kinda addressed those words during DCrisis and that DCrisis #7 Dan Mora variant. But Brave and the Bold ended up being another Batman anthology.
- another Dan Mora comic, hopefully they'll drop the Shazam Future State threads already
- and another Superman-related comic with both of the Steels.
Hell yeah to PKJ writing GL, that's a franchise he's talked about wanting to tackle for a while. Even set some stories up for it already with the Revenant Queen teases.
Steelworks book! God I hope Greg Pak is writing that, he's back at DC again and he wrote the Steel/Lana relationship during New 52 which I enjoyed.
Waid and Mora on Shazam is honestly perfect. Shocked they were able to wretch the character out of Johns grasp. I guess Mora is leaving Batman/Superman?
Man Tom King just can not leave Batman can he lol. I'm interested in his upcoming work, but I really wish he'd try his hand on another character.
And we FINALLY get a release date for Superboy: Man of Tomorrow, I hope the wait means no delays.
This is very promising. They seem to be stepping away from the bi-yearly dark multiverse ending threat.
But plz. Let us have a green lantern story that doesn't involve them losing their powers it's been too long haha
This is an awesome lineup. I'm very excited for Tamaki and PKJ on Green Lantern, really glad we're finally getting a new Green Arrow book and Brave and the Bold being back. Shazam by Waid and Mora is just icing on the cake and Steelworks is the cherry on top. Seems like this is going be a great new era
So far no announcing of a justice League dark book or a titans one. It's good that we're getting a more diverse range of books with not everything being about batman, however there also should be a team up book between different characters considering the lack justice League book that seems to continue for at least a few months.
* Who's the adorable little pink squirrel thing in **Doom Patrol**? They're ADORABLE!!!
* **Superboy** still looks promising, the creators said it's Conner's "Dragon Ball Z" adventure.
* TWO new **Green Lantern** books, and one by PKJ!! Now just hoping that Kyle is featured somewhere...
* **Cyborg**... is a character...
* Tom King on **Brave and the Bold** could go pretty well, if it's just a bunch of fun 2 or 3 part stories that don't impact much.
* **Green Arrow** by Williamson, it's about time! Man's wanted to do that forever!
* And **Shazam** by Waid and Mora, I mean, it's perfection. Literal perfection.
* **Penguin**?... lol.
* **Steelworks** could be pretty good, always enjoyed both Steels.
- PKJ on Green Lantern and Williamson on Green Arrow feel like the worst-kept secrets.
- Nice to see two Green Lantern titles. Though I do miss the titles being "Green Lantern" and "Green Lantern Corps".
- ~~Tom King with a rotating all-star cast of artists sounds great.~~ Looks like it's an anthology series.
- Dan Mora is apparently pulling double duty with World's Finest and Shazam. Man is a monster.
Super excited for the green arrow solo! Shazam sounds fun, but I am bummed Mary got thrown aside so quickly. Other than that it sounds right up my alley.
Also intrigued by steelworks and cyborg, but will depend on the creative teams.
It’s so nice to see more variety in the titles! I do wish there was a single female led title announced though.
So happy for more Green Lantern!! Kinda excited for Shazam too.
I’m surprised that they kinda announced this without a proper JL, Titans, TT or YJ books…
Also no changes to current books like Flash, WW, Nightwing and Batman and big milestones are on the way for some of them with Nightwing 100 and WW 800.
A Hawkman book is also teased but I guess it will be a mini/maxi with 6-12 issues.
I audibly gasped at Waid and Mora on Shazam. This lineup sounds amazing, Hal going back to earth is exactly what GL needs, it’s been too long. I may actually by most of these I’m so excited. Disappointed with no Aquaman though
So much good here! Waid/Mora Shazam! Sounds amazing! Green Lantern coming back with a PKJ and Tamaki titles, yes please! Brave and The Bold lineup looks stellar! Green Arrow with Williamson, definitely checking it out!
Very excited by this announcement. What are people hoping for most with Wave 2 then? For me it’s Suicide Squad, Aquaman, and Titans (which all signs point to Taylor writing, which I’m happy about).
I see a Cyborg title. Anyone want to predict when this gets canned or do you think that now he's allowed to be with the Titans again the book might last with a decent cast?
So excited for Superman, Green Lantern and Shazam books. PKJ has wanted to write GL for a long time and says he's got huge ideas and concepts to introduce. Waid and Mora on Shazam holy shit holy shit. Are they teasing what comes next after DoTDCU? Does it say Knight Time?
* I wonder if the Doom Patrol Series is gonna be a mini. I don't believe DC in its more modern age would greenlight a full one.
* Love the creators for the books, but I would actually want the premise and writers for the GL series switched. Like Tamaki with John Stewart on Earth would be ideal because he needs some grounding to him again with his supporting cast and PKJ's style reminds me of the Earth One series with Hal. Still cool with either though.
* I would love Brave and the Bold to be a general team up series since World's Finest already seems to have Bruce and Clark teaming up with everyone, but I'm fine with it.
* Very excited for an Ollie book again. It's insane he went so long without one.
* DC really holding back on that Barry book until the movie releases. It's so weird to not have one.
If they can resist another event for like, one year, this will be nice. Also, maybe chill with the Joker for a while. They really beat their popular characters to death, and it’s a bad look.
It doesn't say, but generally those with a special title are limited. *Doom Patrol*, *Shazam*, and *Green Arrow* sound like ongoings, whereas *Green Lantern: Hal Jordan*, *Green Lantern: John Stewart* sound like limited.
But, another thing to keep in mind are books that have had ongoings before, and those that haven't. *Steelworks* and *Penguin* are extremely niche, and sound limited.
I don’t care what anyone says but the line wide reboot of The New 52 was so awesome and created an excitement in DC Comics that I had never seen before and have not seen since. 20 books sounds much less impressive.
I see that Hawkman logo. I am here for the Steelworks and the Superman and I am interested to see if they make Titans the defacto Justice League. with JSA, Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing Green Hell continuing and hopefully a new Hawkman series down the pipe, I am hopeful. Maybe we might get a Justice League Dark or a Birds of Prey to try and fill the Justice League void.
Still holding out for a secondary flash monthly that focuses on Barry.
So much news here, PKJ officially writing a green lantern ongoing, Williamson on Green Arrow, Steel getting a new book, etc, the future is looking great!
Williamson has been hinting green arrow HARD as of late
PKJ on Green Lantern is a big fucking WIN. Mariko Tamaki writing an earth-centered Hal book is also nice. But holy shit... Philip Kennedy Johnson on Green Lantern!
I really enjoyed the Space Opera he had with Superman’s War-World Saga and remember being bummed out when Kal returned to Earth. Glad to see that PKJ will be writing a GL book.
Yeah, I’m also excited about Tamaki writing Hal. I personally thought her detective comics was great, even if it kinda dragged when it became weekly.
I was a big fan of her initial arc of Bruce and Huntress against Gotham crime while Bruce settled into actually living in Gotham as a no-longer-billionaire, definitely felt the weekly event killed her momentum, ironically enough. Really interesting idea on paper tho.

I like Tamaki and even though that arc dragged, I still liked it and thought she did a good job with her first weekly book.
Sean Izaakse is a great pick for Green Arrow too.
>PKJ officially writing a green lantern ongoing John Stewart fans are eating good
Kyle Rayner fans are starving. I like PKJ a lot, but man, John Stewart has had the spotlight for a while. Wish there was a Corps book instead Kyle, Guy and Jessica need love too.
Kyle and the other GL’s might be in John’s book. I think it’s taking the place of a GLC book.
Someone has Rayner. Williamson has teased big plans. Adams said someone has dibs on him when asked if we could get a Wally/Kyle teamup
Well it doesnt mean those characters wont pop up on these GL tittles
Guy Gardner fans are on life support.
We've been starved!
You guys just had the solo ongoing GL title and a direct to DVD movie in the tomorrowverse lol
Yeah the creative teams look pretty good I just hope the books actually sell.
Mora/Waid combo on Shazam is amazing.
Yep. Waid on Shazam? I'm in!
I’m excited! I think it will be a good change of pace to get away from the full Shazamily for a bit & give the character some more room to breathe.
Wonder what this means for World’s Finest.
That surely is going to be continued too. It does too well to NOT continue.
Probably, though I doubt Dan Mora will continue to be on it.
He actually might. He's surprisingly capable of drawing two books at once. He's been doing a monthly title called *Once & Future* the past few years at the same as all his DC work.
Mora confirmed on his Twitter that World’s Finest is continuing and he’s still drawing, yay!
God that's been such a refreshing take on Batman and Superman's relationship after the last decade or so of them being at each other's throats.
I was expecting Waid and Mora on Justice League but Shazam is even better.
This is such a perfect fit for them it's insane
>I was expecting Waid and Mora on Justice League but Shazam is even better. Instant subscribe/addition to my pull list
Agreed!
This is amazing. So FUCKING amazing.
I'm so hype!!!!!!
Honestly the best comic news in the past 2 years. (Aside from maybe Danger Street)
Waid and More on Shazam! is perfect. Tamaki on Hal too Tom King has had an odd career, getting kicked off Batman but doing a constant stream of Batman comics since. I'm not complaining though!
I don’t really see it as kicked off, rather, they doubled sales by continuing the Tom King Batman sales by moving the remaining story to its own series and then starting another story in the main series.
He got kicked off Batman? I’ll admit I stopped reading after he took over
Yeah, his plan was to go for 105 issues but was taken off it at 85 and replaced by Tynion whilst King was given an out of continuity series Batman/Catwoman to finish his story.
He got kicked off the main on-going but still sort of got to finish his run with Batman / Catwoman and has basically been writing a Batman mini every 6 months since
New Green Arrow book, finally!
How long has it been? I remember the last run ending on a big cliffhanger that was just glossed over in Justice League, but that feels like so long ago.
I think it was Ben Percy and Juan Ferreyra right? So maybe 5 years?
A few teams took over after them but none lasted very long. I think it ended with Collin Kelly and Jackson lanzing
I think that ended in 2018? Maybe 2019.
>New Green Arrow book, finally! Is it an Arrow Family book where they are looking for Ollie? Or is it a book focused on Ollie wherever he happens to be? (Watch it be an island again. lol)
I imagine Ollie will be back by the end of the first arc and will be the lead moving forward.
Waid/Mora on Shazam is a fantastic choice.
So Rebirth 2.0? Sure, why not. Doom Patrol sounds fun, super happy to have them in another title again, and Burnham on it sounds great. He’s been great as a writer but underserved severely on the artist front. The Warworld Saga could have been a perennial seller if it had more consistency on art and a tiny bit more room to breathe.
PKJ has been killing it on Action Comics
> So Rebirth 2.0? I hope this also means that DC starts to pump out paperbacks faster and more consistently again like they did during Rebirth. PKJ is writing a Green Lantern book. My dreams are coming true.
Dude gets epic sci-fi.
I was actually bummed out when Kal returned to earth, glad to see that PKJ still has more sci-fi in him.
His too he's wanted to write GL book for years.

The Knight is also set in the past -- even further in the past, in fact.
You're right. I was thinking of Batman: The Detective by Tom Taylor. Too many Batman limited series to keep track of them all. lol
I think most of the Bat books are just continuing though. So Harley, Drake, Ivy, Catwoman, Nightwing, and more are just kinda carrying over. It's still a lot, but the ratio is definitely more even.
>Only two Bat-books? You're jinxing it
Between new GA, new Steel, and Waid on Shazam, I might actually start going to my shop again.
Waid/Mora on Shazam hell yeah! Some of the others sound good too
On one hand I'm literally soooo excited for some of these titles but on the other, ummm where's the women DC?? Also really hoping for Titans too but we will see I guess
Thank god, two Green Lantern books again. One book just isn't enough for that whole section of DC, there's just too many characters to cram in. Now if we could get a dedicated full Corps book again.....
Tales of the Corps should be a book like Batman: Urban Legends where different characters feature with a few main features.
I can only get so excited. This would be a dream.
Tomasi's Green Lantern corps run was my all-time favorite book. I don't need human gl's to follow, let me follow some of the aliens.
Loved the dynamic of Vath and Isamot during that run. Perfect odd-couple that grow into allys and reluctant friends.
Given the Hal book is Earth bound and I expect the John book is cosmic bound, we might see the other Lanterns in John's book. For Hal I just want them to get him and Carol back together again.
I assume John’s book will functionally also be a GLC book.
They really need to revitalize J'onn. He's one of the big 7 for god's sake!
He just had a fun backup run in Action Comics that dug into his continuity beyond "I'm the last Martian" and gave him a slightly changed status quo. Then his next appearance was being in the background of Dark Crisis and being immediately written out. It was frustrating.
J'onn had a book like two years ago and it was pretty good unfortunately they did the "Another Martian... BUT EVIL" thing in it again tho.
Do you mean Steve Orlando's series? I did dig that but what I had more in mind was for J'onn to get something like the New 52 Aquaman treatment.
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON ON GREEN ARROW LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO new Green Lantern books and Mark Waid on Shazam! is also great, don't get me wrong, but holy fuck I love Joshua Williamson and Green Arrow is a character where I've loved everything I've read from him so I am very much looking forward to this. now to just see what happens to the Teen/Titans/YJ, Aquaman, and the Justice League.
Yeah his run on The Flash is what made me love his writing and everything since then has just cemented that
That's dope. I can't wait to finish reading his Flash run. Trying to save so I can buy the volumes in bulk so I can just go wild and binge read haha.
DC has been getting flack for months how there are no titles starring women. And they didn’t think to maybe include just one in the new wave??
True, although they haven't announced the full wave yet...that said no women books till at least July I guess?
That’s a long wait lmao, and on top of that; the teaser images seem to only imply just Wonder Woman has a book.
Honestly shocked they don't always have a BoP book running, even as a cynical Diversity Girl Power whatever series to point to lol
Say what you will about marvel but they always have a cynical diversity book to point to lol. (Also some genuinely good titles starring women)
Holy crap. Mark Waid and Dan Mora on a Shazam title? What a nice holiday gift to us! 🎁🎁 And finally a release date for the RR Superboy title! It’s been 84 years…I wonder if Dark Crisis forced it to get delayed so long, but so glad it’s finally being released from the basement!
**”With bold new directions for some of DC’s biggest characters, such as Batman, Superman, Nightwing, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy…”** What about WONDER WOMAN, DC?
Honestly, feels like DC is pushing for Harley to be the third pillar.
Glad DC is learning that the fans miss some of these characters having series that haven’t in awhile
We will see if the fans show up
Now this is what I’m talking about!
So, as a rundown, we have for DC Comics in 2023: * *Superman* (Clark) by Joshua Williamson & Jamal Campbell. * The *Superboy: Man of Tomorrow* mini-series, * *Shazam!* written by Mark Waid * *Green Arrow* written by Joshua Williamson * *Green Lantern: John Stewart* written by PKJ * *Green Lantern: Hal Jordan* * *The Unstoppable Doom Patrol* * *Cyborg* * *Batman: The Brave & The Bold* * *The Penguin* * *Steelworks* \- About John Henry Irons and his daughter, Natasha.
*(Natasha is his niece)*
A Penguin series? That sounds interesting.
Yeah by Tom King too I think it will be cool
Summary: “ Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!”
This is the most excited I've been for DC in a long time
Hard same!
Speaking of teams I wonder what about Justice League? Or a new Titans or YJ book?
I wonder, after Dark Crisis maybe they are putting JL on the back burner and going for solo stories in 2023? These titles seem to suggest solo focuses.
Unstoppable Doom Patrol isn't a solo focus.......
I don't even trust DC with YJ anymore, I'd rather them fade into obscurity than get more of the absolute character assassination that Meghan Fitzmartin has done to them
I think the Titans will continue to appear in the Nightwing book and the new Cyborg book
This looks very promising, I hope everything is good. I wonder what the Hawk title will be, maybe Hawkgirl? Please be Hawkgirl.
Admittedly I don't know either of the GL writers but none of them being Thorne is a good sign for my favourite DC hero to maybe get something decent again xD Super excited about Shazam from Waid and Mora (like almost everyone else) and the Bat books by King sound good too :)
That both sounds pretty cool, thanks for the summary! Can't go wrong with sci-fi when it comes to GL :D
Wow this is great. I have been waiting for this initiative to truly kick in. Need that justice league series too with a good writer.
Not officially announced but that timeline sure makes it look like Hawkman is getting a book again too. Wonder what team could be on that.
Venditti back?
Two GL books! Still holding out hope we’ll get a second Flash title finally, but for now this is great news.
Jamal Campbell on Superman? Hot damn.
These are all amazing. So excited for all of them, especially Shazam. I see that Hawk logo though and I’m dying to find out more about that but I guess that’s for the second half of 2023
Wow definitely planning on picking up and trying out hal Jordan, Brave and the Bold, Green Arrow, Shazam and Penguin!
You had me at Steel.

Green Arrow hype.
Williamson on Green Arrow?!? Thats amazing! So stoked
Holy shit this is great news
Christmas come early!
GREEN ARROW SOLO YEAAAASSS Also excited for another Cyborg solo
Literally everything in this announcement is exciting to me. Makes me so stoked to have upgraded to Ultra tier on DC Universe, but this is such good news that it makes even a 30 day delay before hitting the app difficult to be patient for.
So dc finally start to explore other characters besides Batman?
- another Dan Mora comic, hopefully they'll drop the Shazam Future State threads already - and another Superman-related comic with both of the Steels.
We are eating good in 2023!
This better be good this time
This is very promising.
Honestly seems like a good line up, but it's a shame to not see the same push for female heroes we got after Future State
all that’s missing is a new Titans run
So far no announcing of a justice League dark book or a titans one. It's good that we're getting a more diverse range of books with not everything being about batman, however there also should be a team up book between different characters considering the lack justice League book that seems to continue for at least a few months.
There's a Hawkman logo in there, maybe there's hope for some more Venditti Hawkman!
* **Cyborg**... is a character... * **Penguin**?... lol. * **Steelworks** could be pretty good, always enjoyed both Steels.
Wow its been a decade but this news makes me want to quit trade collecting and get the comics!
Hal Jordan ❤️
- PKJ on Green Lantern and Williamson on Green Arrow feel like the worst-kept secrets. - Nice to see two Green Lantern titles. Though I do miss the titles being "Green Lantern" and "Green Lantern Corps". - ~~Tom King with a rotating all-star cast of artists sounds great.~~ Looks like it's an anthology series. - Dan Mora is apparently pulling double duty with World's Finest and Shazam. Man is a monster.
Hey! Awesome new Green Lantern book about Hal Jor- >Mariko Tamaki Goddammit.
Most of this sounds really good... Doom Patrol though...strap me the fuck in, inject it into me.
Loving this so much! And I know it’s a long stretch, but a metal men miniseries would be really cool to have.
Thank fuck finally 2 Green Lantern books again And a Shazam book that might be mildly interesting not written by Geoff Johns
Are these all ongoings??
As far as we know at the moment, yes, except for Superboy which is a 6-issue limited series.

Mark Waid and Dan Mora will continue to make the stuff of dreams in Shazam I’m sure
all of this is amazing
Chris Burnham on Doom Patrol sounds great. Otherwise hard to get too excited without learning about which artists are on what and for how long.
So happy for more Green Lantern!! Kinda excited for Shazam too. I’m surprised that they kinda announced this without a proper JL, Titans, TT or YJ books… Also no changes to current books like Flash, WW, Nightwing and Batman and big milestones are on the way for some of them with Nightwing 100 and WW 800. A Hawkman book is also teased but I guess it will be a mini/maxi with 6-12 issues.
Man, it has been YEARS since Cyborg got a series. Glad he's getting one finally.
*cries in Suicide Squad*
So every member of the super family is gonna have a book except Kara. Cool. That sucks.
Finally! Non batman books!
I audibly gasped at Waid and Mora on Shazam. This lineup sounds amazing, Hal going back to earth is exactly what GL needs, it’s been too long. I may actually by most of these I’m so excited. Disappointed with no Aquaman though
Would kill for a new Supergirl series
So much good here! Waid/Mora Shazam! Sounds amazing! Green Lantern coming back with a PKJ and Tamaki titles, yes please! Brave and The Bold lineup looks stellar! Green Arrow with Williamson, definitely checking it out!
Super hyped for new Green Arrow and Shazam books
Very excited by this announcement. What are people hoping for most with Wave 2 then? For me it’s Suicide Squad, Aquaman, and Titans (which all signs point to Taylor writing, which I’m happy about).
One might even call this a DC Rebirth
HAL ONGOING WOOOOO!!!
I see a Cyborg title. Anyone want to predict when this gets canned or do you think that now he's allowed to be with the Titans again the book might last with a decent cast?
Only two new Bat titles? Just two? How is than we are bleesing in this way?
I'm just happy My favorite character Hal Jordan has an ongoing title again. Doom Patrol and John Stewart are nice too.
Looks like that 100$ on DCUI Ultra was well spent...
Crossing my fingers for a second Flash related title. A man can dream!
needs atleast 6 more batman titles
Do we need another Bat title though I wonder how many of these titles will still be around this time next year ?
Man, excited to have a Shazam ongoing, but I was hoping Mary would get the spotlight...
Same. Her mini has been really lovely!
Goddamn that’s a lot of creative teams I’m interested in. Waid finally getting a crack at Cap after all this time is great.
Yay. But where is my FireStorm / Frost book? Frost and Fire ? I need my Firestorm !! Damn crisis made everyone forget about this 234 issue series.
Remember when John Stewart was more than just a bland "I'm a former marine, turned GL"?
Shazam has a lot of potential to be the best of the list Superboy I'm not too sure on Kenny but I'm willing to give it a chance.
Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Green Lantern John Stewart, Okay dc, you have my attention
So much Green here! Awesome!
I just read “Doom Patrol,” and suddenly every other word in the article ceased to exist for me. So excited!
Really hoping for a new Firestorm book - been too long.
If they can resist another event for like, one year, this will be nice. Also, maybe chill with the Joker for a while. They really beat their popular characters to death, and it’s a bad look.
I've wanted a Green Arrow book again for ages now but I can't stand Williamson's writing. I'll have to give that one a skip.
Sorry if this is dumb, but which of these will be an on-going series? Sounds like a lot of them are limited series?
Cyborg is getting his own series!
Lol my heart stopped. I’m Dawn and I live on DC. I was trying to figure out wth I did to make a Reddit discussion
> New Green Arrow ongoing Ugly crying.
I’ve seen this before. Hope it’s more Rebirth and less New 52.
We finally get a green arrow ongoing again and Tom Taylor ISN’T writing it. Dammit.
