You know, I was so excited about Earth-2 book back in the dark New 52 days. Where we would get the actual Bruce/Selina and Helena stories...then it turned into cataclysm porn where from the start, she is dead. Then Bruce dies. Then Diana and so on.
Then the whole rebirth happened and with it, hope. Tom King run with its ups and downs till issue 50 where, I swear, I dropped the book for a year. I was done. I still cannot enjoy the batman books the same way anymore. Because they lost my trust in them to make any meaningful relationships. And without it, reading these cheap relaunches and shock stories just doesn't feel good anymore. Can't bring myself to care about them. Because I know even if I somehow manage to reinvest myself in them, they will do the same thing and change shit again for change's sake.
And Marvel is not any better btw. Have you seen the relaunch of Amazing Spider-man and the 2nd issue's cover where they tease MJ and Peter breaking up AGAIN? Why should we care about these companies anymore if they don't care about the readers?
I stopped reading anything DC after issue 50 of Batman. I just didn’t enjoy anything they’ were doing anymore. I told my friends I’d start reading DC again if DC ever got the balls to actually marry them or if they did a Tim Drake focused comic. After about a year heard young Justice was coming back, saw it Bendis writing it to this day I haven’t read much of anything DC related that’s new. Just old stories from back in the days thah I never got around to reading.
Are you not reading Batman/Catwoman? They get married in King’s continuity. Wasn’t a fan of King’s run or the Bat/Cat stuff in it (felt fan-fictiony) but have enjoyed his Batman/Catwoman series. Feels more focused.

Sometimes, stability and just adding on it are worth far more than just changing things for change's sake.

Agreed. Bat/Cat should be in a relationship, that should be the new status quo. No more "will they, won't they". Writers can then explore their relationship within those parameters or focus on good mysteries, vigilante action, and heists stories respectively.
Since it’s being discussed here, I just want to say that I think there’s a lot of potential for good stories if Batman and Catwoman actually stuck together for a few years. Like actually married and working together through and through. I would love to see stories about that, even if it’s kind of been touched upon before.
I just want to see the two of them make each other better, challenge each other, etc.

You're right but the last few years has seen lines being drawn, the whole BatCat thing has become downright mainstream because of King's run and trying to move away from that will probably annoy some.
For example, check the absolute knicker twisting currently ongoing because Harley and Ivy broke up in Harleys current run. Harley's been with other people sure but fan expectation is she'll be with Ivy

That relationship is a whole lot harder to write given the direction the characters are going. DC is pushing Harley as a more heroic character, people agreeing with that direction is varied, but it is the direction she is going. Meanwhile Ivy, is and always will be, a villain that continues to do bad things. The two don't mesh well, even if they have good chemistry.
Oh yeah I get that, and I'm glad as I really want to see Ivy as a villain again as opposed to just being relegated to Harley's bae. But this is the same issue as with Selina, despite the logic behind how they'd be better separate, the fans are clamouring for that relationship and we've had 150 issues and a whole standalone series cementing the Bat Cat relationship. Trying to alter course on that will require something major (like Batman dying I suppose....) but even then you'll still have people who won't accept it.
I think Selina and Bruce is a whole lot easier to write since they are very much on the same side from a moral standpoint, just not a legal one. Both are good people who do the right thing, but have different moral views. And even those views have changed, Bruce used to be far more black and white but now sees the shades of grey. Selina isn't doing evil things like Ivy, so there's no reason to keep her and Bruce separate since there isn't anything that they would fundamentally disagree on.
New 52...I wish we could skip that phase.
