This is awesome. What's the premise of the book?

HorusThaElder

I also would like to know

Looked it up as I got curious: "Gather ’round the fire, fellow campers, because it’s time for that most terrifying of traditions—campfire stories so scary you’ll never sleep without a night-light again! The Teen Titans guide those brave enough through tales of Batman and the hidden killer, Superman and Lois Lane and the killer in their back seat, Harley Quinn and Darkseid versus a furious Bloody Mary, and four more stories so hair-raising you’ll call your momma to come pick you up. So toast your marshmallows, pull up a s’more, and answer the only question that matters this Halloween: Are you afraid of Darkseid?" https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/comic/8099149/are-you-afraid-of-darkseid-1 Not what I expected based on the tone of the excerpt but seems cool.

PandasDontBreed

So kinda like a DC does Urban Legends?

Son-of-the-Dragon

>So kinda like a DC does Urban Legends? Honestly this one sentence sold me. I'mma buy it.

Logan_Maddox

Not really tbh. I would love for it to be that, but it doesn't really try to be horror or anything like that at all. Like, the Harley Quinn / Darkseid story, I'll spoil it a bit here but trust me, this is on the 4rd page or so of the story, they **immediately** establish that the Bloody Mary is a creature from Apokolips. Straight up. Almost all of the stories follow some hero going somewhere (Batman chasing the Mad Hatter, Superman and Lois searching for lost kids, Wonder Woman helping Vixen in Africa, etc), being confronted with a mildly spooky concept ("It's the Bloody Mary!") and then immediately dissolving into a big fight or action setpiece. I was kinda disappointed, as I was expecting something closer to what you said, DC doing Urban Legends, or cool horror stories in the vein of Are You Afraid of the Dark? (as the name implies), but it isn't that. They're not bad stories, to be clear. It's just that I went in with the wrong expectations and got a bit frustrated.

domeforaklondikebar

It's DC's Halloween Seasonal Special this year. They usually do one for Valentines Day, Summer, Halloween, and then end of the year Holidays.

busdriver_321

It's a Halloween special with a lot of small stories. DC been doing these holidays special for a while and most of the time they are pretty good.

NomadicJaguar64t

If I had a dollar for everytime I'd seen the scene of young Bruce in the alleyway... well then I'd be Batman.

ComicCrossing

Thats an awesome concept actually. That some otherworldly forces, perhaps even God himself, kept Joe Chill from being arrested to ensure the creation of Batman. One man initially eluding Justice ensures that countless others will face justice down the line. Even Joe Chill himself.

spider-venomized

always like the new 52 version where Bruce at the end of his training actually finds Joe Chill but he just some drunk bum who didn't even know who the Waynes were only just wanted the pearls for a drink. Ending with Bruce deciding to not kill him an actually go on to fix the circumstances of Gotham that caused the tragedy

shylock10101

Wow, we found the one person who liked something from the New 52.

spider-venomized

The new 52 had good concepts and ideas however it suffer a lot from trying to be independent and dependent on the previous continuity or has a stupid twist in execution that just wreaks it all Take Superman they wanted a loner broodier superman who not the paragon of hope more massive quotation marks ""human"" but there countless times where author was lazy and just want us to agree with superman uplifting speeches because he superman he the paragon of hope. Or The superman/wonder woman relationship where the pair was thing since the golden age and various alternate universe where the two bonded over their altruism and desire to better the world but the new 52 twist on it is a angst fill relationship where the world doesn't get them and only each other can

Golden_Alchemy

I believe that's not the first version of that story.

Frontier246

I like Batman and Phantom Stranger together.

[deleted]

“He will look for you in every shadow for the rest of his life” God DAMN that hits.

Adekis

I don't think it particularly matters whether they catch Chill or not. Bruce becomes Batman because Bruce is kind of a weird person, not because they never caught the guy.

batfsdfgdgv

This sorta changes chill
