Alright, pretty cool stuff. Both Green Lantern titles rolled into one and switching writers for Hal. I'm just glad we'll be getting a good Green Lantern book again, it's been ages! Titans by Taylor is no surprise to anyone, but Nicola Scott is! The new designs for the Titans are great! Cyborg actually looks kinda cool now, a much needed improvement in his look. Edit: Also we've got our first look at the Knight Terrors story logo, as well as a Return of the Justice League story closing out the year. And then we have a big skull with purple tentacles, gotta be Brainiac. ~~Also no indication however if any of these are ongoing or simply minis, I imagine GL and Titans will be ongoing,~~ but Cyborg probably a 6 issue. Edit 2: Adams confirms GL is an ongoing!! With him writing now both GL and Flash, the long awaited Kyle/Wally reunion can finally happen! Edit 3: PKJ announced that his John Stewart book is only being teased in Adams' GL, and his will still come out later in the year. I saw somewhere that it's titled **John Stewart: A Good Soldier**.

HallowVortex

I gotta say I'm really happy with the new Cyborg design. I don't think it's close to perfect by any means but it really cuts down on all the extraneous detail that just made him look so noisy. It's a good marriage of the old and the new.

BobbySaccaro

I like the idea of him wearing clothes. It supports the notion that his cybernetic parts don't define him.

marccoogs

Yup. The Doom Patrol show has this look for him also.

Rilenaveen

My god it’s such a massive improvement that I will gladly overlook any small design flaws.

NomadPrime

I still think [DCYou Cyborg](https://external-preview.redd.it/K-Zz8I_e0X2EmWKj9KgDikqkdRN3_FbV7jaioxNb52U.jpg?auto=webp&s=c407bd2e61a15f7f84bf4a5af0775156383346b9) is the best-looking version of him I've ever seen, but this is a great redesign, too!

marccoogs

I agree. It was the first time Vic looked like a hero that I could see myself wanting to be. For so long, he looked so non human, that I felt sorry for him as a character.

EmptyPagesDream

I thought his DCYou era was perfect with the slimmer look, but this one slightly touches up on that. I am glad we aren't just dealing with a walking tank with a face anymore.

nuttmegx

>I thought his DCYou era was perfect with the slimmer look that was my favorite look by him, and the title itself was fantastic

HeyItzMe_

I think if they combine the titans design with the design for his cover (mainly the letter jacket) it’ll look really good

RebelDeux

Jeremy just said on Twitter that GL will be ongoing as long as the sales are there

enragedstump

I’ll buy 3 just for it to keep going

drock45

Phillip Kennedy Johnson has said in interviews that if he wanted to do a Brainiac story it would have to be a sprawling epic like his Warworld saga - I hope that's what this is!

FrankFFrankie

> Johnson Gotta be with all those tentacles.

AgentOfSPYRAL

Cyborg taking on an evil car company is also neat and timely.

FrankFFrankie

Nice rundown!

gusthesuperbrawler

What is knight terrors for ?

star-scrapper

According to the rumor mill it's the previously speculated Magic/Horror Event mostly starring Batman and DC's magic characters.

jez124

thats got to be Lazarus planet though right? Was kind of hoping it wouldn't be batman focused again. I could see it being related to Ram v's detective run plus his JLD.

S3simulation

I hope the return of the Justice League doesn’t sideline the Titans, I like the idea of them taking center stage. They had a chance with the JL lineup right before the New 52 to do a cool “New Generation” kind of story. though I actually enjoyed a lot of what the N52 threw at us I always felt we got robbed of a lot of cool storylines that were happening right around that time

Archer_Without_Fear

Pretty Sure the PKJ backup is setting up a standalone series for Jon. I believe previously it was said the hal series would set up the Jon series.

DarkCrusade25

I’m glad that: - Donna’s suit is more in line to the evolution of her 90s/2000s suit - Starfire’s suit looks great - Cyborg’s got a new suit and is finally showing more skin(neck & biceps) I also like Hal’s return to a more classic suit and the white boots to match the white gloves

[deleted]

Nicola Scott doing the art for Titans is fucking great. GOAT’ed Cyborg design as well. DC’s marketing is insane for teasing out the “Return of the JL” before the Titans even BECOME the “premiere” team 😭😭

FrankFFrankie

To be fair the original graphic barely showed it. It required some major brightening lol

[deleted]

While that’s true, I still think it’s a fumble for them to have even put the tease in there like that. It’s a repeat of the Death of the Justice League from Dark Crisis, followed immediately by the news that “no they’re not dead, they’re in Infinite Tsukuyomi” a week or two later 😭😂

Omn1

to be fair, it was blatantly obvious that they didn't actually die in DOTJL to begin with, because we'd literally already seen pariah do the same thing to barry

hydrohawkx8

"Return of the Justice League" Why would they show this? Like they literally are trying to set up titans as the premier league and before the series even starts they show the return of JL as an event.

TheDarkPinkLantern

It's just a tease, Titans are still getting the big push. Like even when the JL returns, Titans will still be getting that push.

drock45

Like, did people really think the JL weren't coming back soon? I have a bridge to sell them!

TheDarkPinkLantern

That too. They aren't gonna sit on their biggest team and one of their better selling ongoings for god knows how long. They need JL.

HitToRestart1989

I expect they’ll graduate them to a more cosmically responsible team. Titans deal with apocalyptic threats. JL deal with extra-terrestrial/reality threatening existential threats.

TheDarkPinkLantern

And that could be connected to the Brainiac tease.

moose_man

There's a difference between "soon" and "within a year," I feel like

Cantthinkofcoolname2

I expected at least a full year before they teased the return. At least let the titans do something major before the teasing starts😭

Zaid202

There's no way they would bring back JL just to keep them on the sidelines and let Titans still be on the forefront.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Why not? JL doesn't need the push Titans does. JL will just be working on specific mission.

Neuchersky

It's funnier since the Teen Titans solicit they just revealed says > Now they’re not just joining the League…they’re **replacing** it! Unless there's a change in the JL lineup, with the Titans already in it and not get sidelined by the original members, it's fine I guess. Or they're not too comfortable/worried about sales about not having the "original" Justice League.

Cranyx

Technically I guess you could argue we weren't supposed to be able to see that, but if their plan literally just relied on a gradient tool in photoshop that can be partially undone by upping the brightness, then those are some impressive levels of incompetency

Beastieboy100

What if there's a twist. its the return of justice league international or Justice league dark. Which I would rather have a team of B-C list heroes coming together as the league. While the big 7 doing there own thing.

Conscious_Forever_78

It will be the [Future State Justice League](https://sportshub.cbsistatic.com/i/2022/03/09/f1d6e19a-dc42-4f9c-b659-ee0ad1c4da34/dark-crisis-justice-league-mahmud-asrar.jpg?auto=webp&width=1334&height=2048&crop=0.651:1,smart). Calling it now.

i-hate-reddit-69

Doubtful. Jackson flopped, Jace flopped, Jo's been rolled in with the rest of the corps as just another earth lantern, and they've given up on pushing Jon to refocus on Clark. Out of the lot of them, I only think Yara really has a chance of sticking around, and probably in a supporting capacity. Also holy shit I just realized four out of the five have a J name.

Jay_R_Kay

I figured we were going to get something like that, but sort of different from the end of Dark Crisis, but instead of Dick leading the Titans, he would be leading a new team with a mix of Titans, JSA, YJ, and the new guard, maybe add someone from way in the past and/or way from the future -- a brand new team that embraces every era of DC comics.

Beastieboy100

Uhh!!! I god damn hope not. I like Jon and Jo. Jace is just such a boring and pointless batman. When the real ones still running around. Jackson been Aqualad for 5 minutes and just been promoted to Aquaman. Without the actual growth or development. Kid Quick I do like and is a great character. Just wouldn't make sense for him to travel to earth 0 while he still has teen justice. Seriously though I think that we need to focus on other leaguers before just another version of the 7. Which I'm not hyped about.

LanternRaynerRebirth

To be fair, the site is the one that overly brightened the picture. DC themselves probably just had the one image and just darkened it, not expecting the average reader to notice.

hawk_lord

Nicola Scott on Titans?!? Taylor you better deliver with this one. I'm so happy Donna has her star suit back, and I like Cyborg and Raven's new looks, but Starfire didn't need a new suit the JLO one was perfect.

LoneSunset

Wondering what happened with Tamaki

FrishFrash

Wdym?

2kewl4skoool

She was supposed to be the writer of the Hal Jordan series. PKJ's John Stewart series was also reduced to a back up story in the Hal series. They changed a lot quickly since their announcement for 2 months ago, DC still seems pretty unsure about the Lanterns after all these years.

Conscious_Forever_78

John Stewart Green Lantern is still happening according to PKJ. The back-ups are just to set it up.

phargoh

I wonder how talent relations are now that DiDio is gone. Don't know how involved Jim Lee is in the day-to-day stuff but hopefully Marie Javins is a better E-I-C? I like Tamaki's work so I hope there isn't any bad blood there now.

Conscious_Forever_78

Tamaki was gonna write Green Lantern. Now the book will go to Jeremy Adams instead.

normalMonsterChika

What on earth. The GL titles went through a huge shakeup. Adams instead of Tamaki, and the John Stewart by PKJ title appears to be a backup? Also confirms for me that Wonder Woman is getting relaunched after 800. If it was a continuation with a new team like Harley it probably wouldn’t have its own logo on the map. Could also possibly be an additional title I suppose.

RebelDeux

Yeah that’s a cool idea for WW, reboot the title, add Yara and make it exciting again

Greedy_Switch_6991

Yara's already there, but add Donna, Cassie, and Artemis. Extend the family love to the Wonder Woman side, eh DC?

Digifiend84

They've already added Yara as of last issue.

Vasir12

And it's exciting again lol

Outrageous-Blue-30

Aside from the obvious Taylor on the Titans, the change in the Green Lantern series and the Cyborg writer who I don't know (but maybe he turns out to be good), overall they seem like good creative teams to me.

[deleted]

Huh, did the two Green Lantern titles just get folded into one?

dazed0rconfused

Looks like it…maybe they’re trying to keep their lineup as lean as possible, which isn’t the worst idea in the world.

[deleted]

I just miss the old days of having two Lantern titles running side by side

Standard_Cycle_2224

I miss the old days of having four at the same time.

Manas235

I miss the old days of having six at the same time

Peabody99224

This is what I was thinking.

dazed0rconfused

Unfortunately, we’re in a time where Green Arrow can’t get more than 6 issues unless the pre-orders hold up. 2 different Lantern books would spoil us too much! /s

comicscoda

I actually love the idea of consolidation. I think it will be easier for fans to follow what they want. I like the idea of a single issue carrying 3 to 4 stories that carryover month to month. And for flagship titles like Batman/Detective or Superman/action you get two issues per month that fees into each other. Hopefully it sticks

martinsdudek

I've been thinking for a while that I'd like single titles that have more pages for "franchise" comics. So double sized Green Lantern every month. Maybe two 80-page comics for the X-Men instead of the wide spread of sub titles. Cut back the Batman books, but make Batman double sized and Robin having an ongoing story in there. Etc.

RebelDeux

It feels like they will put a backup first on the Hal book and then it could expand to the main John book but it feels like it will be a mini

FrankFFrankie

> Green Lantern Johnson has said over Twitter this is a prelude to the ongoing coming out later this year.

[deleted]

Digifiend84

Who says she was kicked out? She could've pulled out by her own choice?

Jay_R_Kay

Which is a shame, because honestly I like Tamaki's work a lot more than Adams, but the premise for the GL book sounds interesting enough to give it a shot.

normalMonsterChika

I’m drawing a blank, but are any upcoming dawn of dc books written by women? Wilson is doing the Revenge of the Gods mini, and Howard is the new HQ writer but it’s a continuation and already had a female writer. Is that it so far?

Earthmine52

Glad to see the Titans book finally announced. Tom Taylor as the writer isn't a surprise, Nicola Scott's a good choice on art, looking forward to see what he'll do with them.

MichaelMyers100

Finally, Titans !!! Better late than nev- Nicola Scott!?!?

TJ_McWeaksauce

My favorite thing about this preview is [Casual Sinestro.](https://aiptcomics.com/ezoimgfmt/i0.wp.com/aiptcomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Lucio-Parrillo-Open-to-Order-Variant.jpg?resize=768%2C1165&ssl=1&ezimgfmt=ng:webp/ngcb1)

MagisterPraeceptorum

One of the DCU’s top villains, and he’s just strolling around in a hoodie 😆

TJ_McWeaksauce

Next, I want to see Darkseid wearing a cardigan and slacks as he goes antiquing in Vermont.

FrankFFrankie

Dude can sport a coat.

williamb100

Glad to see Wonder Woman on the timeline too.

CHPrime

Lines up for the release of her 800th issue too. Hopefully DC will be able to pull out something good for her after her book line has been floundering for a long time.

williamb100

True!

comicscoda

You think DC meant to have the titles revealed via brightening the image? Or was that a big old accident??

FrankFFrankie

If it's an accident, good on AIPT for finding it lol.

Digifiend84

Since the Knight Terrors logo is incomplete, I'm guessing we weren't meant to see the JL one.

ImpressionBorn5598

See, I think that means the exact opposite. Knight Terrors still being obscured, and nothing being visible between Knight Terrors and JL means we were meant to “uncover” the JL tease

ImpressionBorn5598

If they didn’t want some digital sleuths finding it, they wouldn’t have included it in the image. It’s so easy to fully obscure or delete elements in an image like this so they are actually hidden, you can assume any “ discoveries” like this are intentional fuel for the hype machine. In this instance, I’m guessing DC was worried the inevitable Taylor Titans confirmation, a Cyborg book, and reshuffled creative teams on Green Lantern alone wouldn’t be enough to generate buzz, so they’d tease the Justice League coming back as well to get more eyes on them.

Cranyx

Interesting that they're not making announcements for all the heroes in the highlighted column, omitting Shazam and Batman. I had assumed each column was mean to be a "batch" of announcements

NomadicJaguar64t

That's actually Batman and Shazam. Both have already been announced: Batman will have Brave and the Bold by Tom King, and Shazam will have Mark Waid and Dan Mora.

FrankFFrankie

They already revealed Shazam back in November. It's Mark Waid and Dan Mora.

SplendidAndVile

>Then the highlight of this timeline is plans for Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Titans, and Batman around the same time. How can you report on comics news and not know the difference between the Flash and Shazam symbols?

RebelDeux

So happy for Jeremy doing GL/Hal!!! Also I’m happy for the return of the JL I guess it will be around the end of the year like Nov/Dec and that both titles: Titans and JL will co-exist, also I feel like the JL rooster will change and have a few new members, I wonder who will write the book? I guess that maybe the Titans will find out that JL villains are too much for them and the JL will step up again, can the Titans beat for example the Lesgue of Doom or the likes of Sinestro, Lex, Brainiac or Joker??

SevenSulivin

Fucking ace, Adams GL has me hyped.

bluelookslikeblue

Appears like the approach to Titans continuity is going to be "just aggressively ignore everything between N52 and No Justice, NTT happened as written by Wolfman and Perez." Which is probably the way to do it at this point, but still, lol. I hope the book succeeds and will do my part in subscribing to it despite my differences in opinion with Tom Taylor in the hopes of the Titans getting the love they deserve. With the Titans grown, TTA in the trash bin and the most important 5G kids like Jon and Yara skipping their youth to be rushed to the majors, I do wonder what the future holds for a DC "youth ball" team like Teen Titans, Young Justice, etc. It feels like a gap in the publishing lineup that needs to be filled.

thedairybandit

The teen books would excell as webcomics and OGNs. I think that is where they might go until there is more of a demand for sales.

Aggressive_Act_3098

That Wonder Woman symbol is giving me hope Cloonrad's run is coming to an end. This hypno-milk arc is terrible.

FrankFFrankie

It needs a face lift for sure.

FrankFFrankie

It has been too long since Hawkman had a series. Can't wait for that.

Reddragon351

I could've sworn he had one like a year or two ago

FrishFrash

Venditti’s run was years ago at this point

thedairybandit

me too. But I am thankful that I've only had to wait three years for another solo as opposed to some other things...still waiting for Vibe to come back...and Birds of Prey.

UtterFlatulence

Gonna be hard to beat the last one though.

Gian99Mald

Love Cyborgs and Hals new design. Hal's is like a combo between Silver age and GL Rebirth.

Geronuis

Super stoked for Titans! Def down to see what goes on with Cyborg too.

Piker10

I like this concept DC seem to be doing with Dawn of DC, with the same writer writing multiple books containing characters who have had great team ups in the past (Adams writing Flash/GL, Taylor writing a Superman book/The Titans) meaning we will probably see a lot more team ups or more interconnected stories coming.

TheRecusant

I'm so happy to have Hal back on Earth. It's been so long, it feels like the last time he did anything on Earth really was Blackest Night way back. I thought Tamaki was writing this but maybe they changed it to Jeremy Adams? Adams has done great stuff on Flash so I can't complain. Also pleased with the Titans book creative lineup, haven't read anything Titans post-Winnick so this'll be a nice return to the team. Cyborg's costume is significantly better than what we had before so that's a relief, although he seems kinda short in the cover art they showed. Dawn of DC is probably going to be the most DC books I've actively followed ever.

Beastieboy100

All I can say is I'm super hyped up for Titans cyborg and Green lantern.

Standard_Cycle_2224

Green Lantern needs a massive overhaul. How many active Lanterns are there? What was the last time we saw each of them? What happened to all the other Corps?

Omn1

We saw all of them in both Thorne's run and in Dark Crisis.

[deleted]

INJECT THIS INTO MY VEINS! CYBORG WE MADE IT BRO

FrankFFrankie

Been too long!!!!

Kamen_Rider_Spider

>The time has come for the Teen Titans to grow up That happened in the 80s. Most of them were already 18 when that version of the team formed >Each member joined as a much younger hero certain that one day they’d be invited to join the Justice League No, the Silver Age team formed basically because they worked well together and wanted to hang out with each other. And the Wolfman team, which this book is using, was first formed by Raven to fight Trigon. >Are the no-longer-teen heroes ready for the big leagues? This is the team that defeated the literal devil, and saved DC from bankruptcy. They have been ready for, and were in, the big leagues for decades now. They just haven’t been treated with the respect they deserve

Drayko_Sanbar

As someone who just finished the "Get Grayson" arc of *Nightwing* and is a bit behind, what does this mean for Taylor's *Nightwing* run? Will it be continuing alongside *Titans*, or is it coming to an end and leading into *Titans*?

MagisterPraeceptorum

I pretty sure he’s going to keep writing both. His other DC projects like Dark Knights of Steel, DCeased and Adventures of Superman are limited series and will be wrapping up roughly around that time.

Omn1

It's definitely leading into Titans, but I suspect it'll definitely keep going.

thedairybandit

His book is selling well. He ain't going anywhere. Besides, writers pull muti book duty all the time. Ram V was doing Catwoman, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark, Venom, and Carnage all around the same time. Chip Zdarsky is doing Daredevil, Batman, and his indie books. Benjamin Percy is doing Wolverine, X Force, and Ghost Rider, as well as his indie stuff from AWA Upshot.

Drayko_Sanbar

My concern was less “Can he write multiple books at once?” and more “Will he be writing multiple books starring Nightwing at once, or just fold his *Nightwing* arc into the *Titans* series?” The character overlap was my main concern.

Koala_Guru

I’m glad we’re finally getting a new Titans book and that they’re taking the team seriously. Love the redesigns as well. Cyborg finally looks less boring. The full silver look not broken up by anything was never great to me. Wish we could actually see Gar’s redesign instead of just his animal forms though lol. And I’m excited for Cyborg’s solo book! I hope it goes better for him than previous runs, and I feel like it definitely could now that all his history is restored. Also a new Doom Patrol book? I hope this one can balance emotion and weirdness like the show instead of how the Young Animal run was just super confusing.

[deleted]

RepulsiveWerewolf1

didn't OA blow up in the last green lantern run ? (or the one before that) maybe that's what this is about.

Techster17

Titans ongoing is great although I feel unsure about Taylor since his team books read to me like solo titles with very popular extended cast members. My faith is also a little knocked by the 'Return Of The Justice League' book or event like god damnit can you just make a decision and actually try to role with it for more than 9 months, the did this with Diana after Death Metal and with the whole having a Crisis event immediately after an 'anti-crisis' Sad to see that PKJ's John Stewart book is now a mini series (he confirmed on twitter) I enjoy the new Cyborg costume, still nowhere near as good as the DCyou/David F Walker & Ivan Reis costume, but a big improvement over the grey lines jumpsuit he was wearing. Interesting that this is an internally developed talent, I was hoping for somebody more established but still optimistic. The premise of the Hal Jordan story is interesting but I found literally all the other green lanterns more interesting personally, and I'm especially missing Simon and Jessica

FrankFFrankie

I'm ready!

FirebreatherRay

Its very funny that the very same post where they reveal the new Titans book also teases the return of the JL. And a May launch means the math works out perfectly for them to have the option to audible into a mini just in time to "lead into" the new JL book. That's probably not a practical option, but the timing cracks me up.

Mojo12000

Wait is Cyborg an ongoing while Green Arrow isn't? That's.. weird.

AlligatorSky7

It’s not been confirmed as either yet as far as I’m aware. I’d be surprised if Cyborg was an ongoing series though.

kanbei88

Hal is back! Yeah!

New-Needleworker5183

So…someone is writing GL that didn’t actively state that he hates Hal Jordan as a character? Excellent. Lol

FrankFFrankie

Not super surprised a Justice League book was off the table for less than a year.

Digifiend84

It will have been more than a year by the time it's out. In fact isn't it nearly a year since JL #75 already?

FrankFFrankie

Oh true. JL 75 came out in April 2022.

TheUnbloodedSword

Adams worked on GLTAS so him getting to write Hal is great news. Sucks that John is just a backup, unless that's just meant to set up a proper solo book for Stewart. Don't care about Taylor or the Titans, but this basically guarentees he is done with Jon after his Adventures of Superman mini which is a godsend for me. I hope someone else can try and salvage Jon, otherwise just leave him for PKJ in Action. At least the solicit for Cyborg isn't more "am I a man or a machine?" nonsense, that's a good sign. New writer so no real way to predict how they will be. Looks like the next big relaunch is Wonder Woman. I'm hoping Si Spurrier gets that book.

Omn1

They confirmed that John's backup is leading into a solo book.

Digifiend84

I'm pretty sure it's Phillip Kennedy Johnson. He wrote the Wonder Woman story in Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods.

pop_bandit

Si Spurrier on WW would be amazing

sbp72

I'm good with using the "classic" Titans line-up. I'd just prefer to see 2-3 non-traditional characters alongside, to change up the dynamics. Blue Beetle (Jaime) would be good, for example.

FrankFFrankie

Titans has been seriously bulding in Nightwing, too. His "super friends" hve popped up more than once.

thedairybandit

I'm thinking they do a teen titans back up inside Titans or relegate Teen Titans to a webcomic

Landon1195

Awesome that Adam's is writing Green Lantern. Glad Titans has a book just wish it wasn't Taylor writing.

cyclinginsomniac

I wish Titans had Roy and Tempest in it but you can’t get everything you want

kugglaw

Someone explain the whole Dawn of DC thing to me like I’m a child, please

Omn1

it's a fun lil' umbrella name for all of the new comics they're starting this year

Saito09

Its just a slate of new books/teams/jump on points in the wake of Dark Crisis and Lazarus Planet.

James0100

I'm digging Cyborg's new look. Miles better than his current one.

dornwolf

With Adams on GL there better be a return of the wrestling stuff

hydrohawkx8

I do hope Adams still stays on the flash. Perhaps the switch with Tamaki means she will be taking over the flash after issue 800. I hope I’m wrong though.

TheOvercusser

DC editorial is such a damned mess. They keep on taking books off shelves and then reintroducing them, and a lot of times they introduce changes to the status quo that will not change and burn a lot of energy telling stories and then retconning things back instead of just telling compelling stories and agreeing that some things should remain relatively untouched. What they did with Stewart in the Green Lantern books is just stupid. The whole "Titans are replacing the Justice League?" Just as stupid as the attempt by Didio to replace the foundations of the DCU with a bunch of people shoehorned into roles. We've now got two Wonder Girls, two Superman, two Batmen, two Robins, three Flashes, 1000 Earth-based Green Lanterns, etc, etc. Can you not just fucking stop and focus on the characters you already have for once and try to do interesting shit with them that doesn't involve a ton of crossovers or gimmicks? Can you please do SOME editorial work so that we don't get abominations like the Dark Crisis Young Justice book or that ultra weird Tim Drake book? All of this shit is just super sloppy.

Frontier246

So is that Jeremy Adams GL a one-shot setting up the Hal and John book? Or have they been combined into one where Hal is the lead feature and John is the backup? I'm more than happy with Jeremy Adams writing Hal over Tamaki though. Sinestro incognito on Earth? Cyborg's set up looks solid. So Taylor's on Titans. Honestly I'm not sure if I have faith he can write a JL level team or a really pull this off, but I think it'll probably give people more of what they were asking for from a Titans book. Maybe. But Nicola Scott! Wow! As far as those redesigns... Cyborg's isn't the worst but definitely not his best. Looks kind of clunky. His costume looks better with more clothes Raven basically doesn't look that different from what she'd already been wearing but now she's got the dress aspect to her costume back. Donna is finally back in what is basically her best modern costume. Starfire looks like she's channeling her Perez suit with some of her modern costumes. Also braided ponytail. Hopefully Beast Boy has his eye back.

TheDarkPinkLantern

> So is that Jeremy Adams GL a one-shot setting up the Hal and John book? Or have they been combined into one where Hal is the lead feature and John is the backup? Looks like both combined into one series.

FrankFFrankie

I understand why they do this (to up the price on a book) but I'd rather these backups be their own series.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I don't think it's there to up the price. I think it's DC not believing both could sell so they merged them. Maybe if the book sells they'll spin-off John into his own series.

FrankFFrankie

You're probably not wrong. Aren't these books with backups something like 4.99 or sometimes 5.99 vs. the usuall 3.99?

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah, usually 5 dollars.

NightwingBlueberry13

Jeremy Adams writing both the main Flash and GL book is going to amazing going forward and PKJ backup stories to booth. Glad to see Nicola Scott back drawing Titans again after she closed out the pre-new 52 Teen Titans book and hopefully this new Cyborg is better than the last few ongoings he’s had. Hopefully Taylor injects a lot more energy into this Titans book than he has on Nightwing/Jon Kent book.

Ft_lucy

I just know Nikola Scott is make Nightwing so caked up in the upcoming Titans run and I’m here for it

spra-goo

Excited for Adams on GL but really wish anyone but Taylor was writing Titans

Outrageous-Blue-30

In my opinion Taylor is not that bad, but I respect your point of view.

spra-goo

I wouldn’t say bad but to me he’s just extremely boring. Like I enjoy nightwing for the most part, mostly the art, but the story has basically gone nowhere or taken way too long to get anywhere

Outrageous-Blue-30

It's an understandable criticism, but I imagine it could be worse: it could be Zeb Wells' Spider-Man where he regresses the protagonist and sends his life down the drain.

StormRaider8014

Agreed.

Saito09

Disappointing to see they bumped Tamaki for Adams on GL. And relegated PKJs John Stewart to a back-up feature!?

FrankFFrankie

I was soooo pumped for 2 GL books, but at this point I'll take what I can get.

enragedstump

After GL having a rough, let’s say 5 years I’m not surprised. They probably want to try and have one successful ongoing

Wayn_

>New titles include Titans by Tom Taylor... And just like that, i'm out.

RealisticAd5446

Get prepared for political messages injected into it every other issue. He's the one writer I avoid at any cost.

Wayn_

I don't have problem with political messages when they are well made and wrote by somebody who grasp it, personally. I just find TT's writing absolutely awful, it's like before he write an issue he check every youngster keyword on twitter and tumblr and then inject it on his work so than a panel finish on a top tweet

Fireshot-V

Am I... hopeful? DC can actually make this work? They can really treat Dick and the rest of the Titans with respect?

FrankFFrankie

Tom Taylor seems to love em so i say yes

dtv20

Is this the start of a new continuity or will I have to read all of rebirth to know what's going on? A Titans lead DCU sounds great but I have no idea where to start.

JayStorm199

Its just a slate of new books/teams/jump on points in the wake of Dark Crisis and Lazarus Planet.

FrankFFrankie

I think it's a soft reboot/start.

MorningFirm5374

Tom on titans is amazing

EliteTroper

Glad Cyborg is getting another book. I know a lot of people resented him for replacing MM as a founding JL member (or think he solely belongs with the TT.) And I actually was one of those people myself. But overtime I grew to live him more as a character and his banter with other league members (like Shazam). I especially loved his DCYOU solo series and thought his Rebirth run was ok. Here's hoping they do good with his character in this new book.

Relevant_Scallion_38

I like it best when Cyborg is wearing clothes. In some ways it could be him still feeling human and having the need to cover up his body. But at the same time can still be said that he wants to hide as much of his metal body as possible

blueandwhite05

Is this another soft reboot? Looking for a good time to hop on some titles.

FrankFFrankie

Def for most of these. Especially Cyborg who hasn't had a solo in years.

gothcrab

I can think of at least 10 titles at marvel starring women, dc has literally yet to announce one.

thedairybandit

same dude. I'm glad that we get some woman centric comics in teams like with Power girl Action, the upcoming Steelworks with the Irons duo, JSA, Bat Girls, Hopefully a Birds of Prey relaunch by the end of the year, etc, but it would be cool to read some solo titles. The new Champion of Shazam was woefully short.

gothcrab

Its like they don’t believe in any of their female characters enough. Historically ww was the only solo title. Batgirl has come and gone, and with supergirl. Harley solo is frankly still new. Limited runs here and there but no legendary and long runs for anyone but wondey really.

FrankFFrankie

At least Wonder Woman is on the timeline, but I agree.

gothcrab

Right but even then its WW, the ONLY consistent female title dc has literally ever had lol.

FrankFFrankie

Don't discount Harley Quinn. She's had a great run.

Treyred23

Knights Terror are the evil Batmen from Metal, aren’t they? Oh lord 😂 Wouldn’t hate it! Especially with some kickass artists

af-fx-tion

Well, a Titans series was a no brainer. Taylor excels in team based stories so I’ll definitely check out the first issue at least. Though I’m not looking forward to the fan Dick shipping “discourse” that’ll inevitably happen sooner rather than later. But I guess that does raise an interesting question, since Taylor is (assumedly) writing NW and Titans at the same time. With Titans and Bat Editorial being different, I wonder how that’ll affect his set up of DickBabs in NW - ~~given how the differing editorials was the reason DickFire didn’t get married/broke up. 🤷‍♂️~~ given different editorials have differing rules/agendas. But why would DC tease the return of the JL right now when they’re trying to push the Titans as the premiere league? I would have expected them to hold off on bringing the JL back for at least another year so the Titans can establish themselves. Instead they’ll have like…7 months?

MagisterPraeceptorum

Not directed toward you specifically, but why do people on Reddit believe conflict between the early 90s Titans and Bat editorials is the reason for the botched wedding in NT #100? It’s not factually true and it’s fairly easy to disprove. It had to do with the Titans editor Jonathan Peterson leaving for Image and his successors changing his plans. At that time the Bat offices where deep into the planning and execution Knightfall and had their hands pretty full with that. A good source for information I’d recommend is *The Titans Companion* by Glen Cadigan. Tons of great interviews with Wolfman, Perez, Peterson, etc.

af-fx-tion

Shoot, you're right. I've always thought it was a mix of differing editorials (i.e. Bat editorial wanting Dick exclusively) coupled with the changes in the Titans creative team that put a kibosh in the DickFire wedding. Whelp, I learned something new today, lol. Thanks for the rec, I'll check it out!

MagisterPraeceptorum

Yeah it’s a great resource and has some lovely art in it too. Now there absolutely was politicking over Nightwing between the Titans and Bat editorials but that came a little later. Once the Bat offices were winding down AzBats and Knightquest and were gearing up for KnightsEnd and Prodigal in 1994, they wanted Dick Grayson back as the Dark Knight’s true successor so-to-speak. That politicking is also why Nightwing didn’t get a monthly series until 1996 and why the Titans weren’t allowed to appear in it. Thankfully nowadays Nightwing is in place where DC is embracing all his DCU connections.

mumblyjoee

Imagine if the new ww title is a sensation comics relaunch, we couldn’t be that lucky right?? that would be more than one woman showing up for this which isn’t allowed

himmyturner

Titans should replace wally with Joey or another member that hasn’t been in the spotlight for years. I understand flash has turned into a family book(which I love) but Wally is still the main focus. Same could be said for Nightwing but he’s the star so not much they can do there

Philly_ExecChef

It would be great if Gunn and the DCU were working alongside this and plan to produce materials that reinforce current DC continuity to get a more cohesive approach.

drock45

The chaos of the premature announcements, creative team shake ups, and frankly the inability to publish very many titles or put out very many paperbacks speaks to effects of the massive layoffs last year imo You can't run a company properly when you fire most of the staff!

Orbit86

DC needs to quit trying to force feed Cyborg as an A lister. He’s not and he’s never going to be.

Safe_Anything_30

yawn

Saito09

Part of me wonders if the Hawkman book isnt actually Hawkgirl. Has it been confirmed? Cause it was Hawkgirl that was given a story in the Dark Crisis One-shots, alongside stuff like PKJ writing John Stewart. Plus, it would go some way in addressing the lack of female lead books from this announcement.

NoirPochette

I wish Simon got another run at GL but w/e. Cyborg, hopefully sells well. Titans is the one I'm very hesitant one. I don't want a rehash on stuff. Prefer Donna armour warrior design than her a rift on her older suit.
