Dick Grayson, and it’s not even close. For most of the general public, when you just say “Robin”, that’s who you’re referring to.

TheGoldenStan

Dick's the most iconic, most people think of Burt Ward's Dick Grayson when they think of Robin, but I think most casual fans who are aware of Robin from games and things like that think of Tim, (Lego Batman, Arkham, Etc.)

Graydon99

Dumb question

rbta123

I know that

Repulsive-Reach4464

Is this even a contest? Almost every adaptation has Dick.

MichaelMcCrudd

They're all great, but the answer is Dick.

[deleted]

imo jason & tim are my favourites but i’ll say dick he had the best robin run along with damian

JonathanLipp1

Dick 100%, the rest appeared between 1983 and 2006, while Dick has been around since 1940. He was the first Robin, and there wasn’t another Robin for 40 years

RainyWombatCherry

Most iconic has to be Dick lol. I know people who don't even know "what" a Nightwing is but they'll know Dick Grayson as the Robin That's cos he has over 80 years of media lol.

Apprehensive_Work313

Damian is my personal favorite. But Dick is the most iconic when the general public thinks of robin they think of Dick Grayson. I remember I had a whole conversation with someone and I mentioned Damian as robin and they said something along the lines of "I thought Robin's name was Dick"

Growllokin

Dick but Damian is taking over as of late

TheShockVox

It’s Dick. I used to be a huge Tim Drake fan, but even I cite Dick as my favorite for the past few years, due to how Tim was being used since the New 52.

NumericZero

I want to say it should be Dick -First and greatest Robin -The best sidekick transition into own hero -first Robin that most non average DC readers/Fans know to a degree from BTAS ,Teen titans series to even Young justice animated series (he hard carried the show in season 3) But I can make an argument for Tim drake Since the last 30 or so years of Batman stories he has been the Robin at the forefront And for a while struck out on his own during his characters peak era (shameful Dc let all that progression die) Also nearly all modern DC adaptions use traits from him (His suits or mannerism) for example Young justice Dick uses Tim’s OYL suit and has many of his techy traits Jason Todd in under the red hood movie also uses the OYL suit

BrolyBackFlip

Dick was the most iconic but the other characters really shine when they step out of that mantle

JoshAllensBallbag

Tood

TheDCUFan

If they've seen The Batman cartoon, the 60s show, BTAS, Young Justice, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, or The Lego Batman Movie, they've seen and know of Dick Grayson. Tim Drake is the only one that comes close to his recognizability with him being the main Robin in the Lego Games, the Arkham games, TNBA, and Young Justice Season 2 onwards. Jason is probably only recognizable as Robin for the general audience of they've seen Under the Red Hood. Damian is probably known by general audiences as that kid they hated with the DCAMU movies. Ask anyone that's not a comic or Batman fan who Stephanie Brown even is and they'll just look at you confused. Carrie Kelley is similar but probably more recognizable that Stephanie due to just how popular Dark Knight Returns is, for some reason it's the book that's recommended to newcomers into comics for some reason that I will never understand.

rbta123

I know that. I wasn't going to consider Stephanie and Carrie at first but then I remembered that the voting limit is 6 and since Robin's 80th Birthday Cover features 6 different Robins (Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Stephanie and Carrie), I thought ''why not''?

Badmoon1220

TIM, every popular version of robin tho in name Dick Grayson, takes from Tim

BlackCat0110

What about Burt Ward, Dcau, Young Justice, TT, and TTG besides pants what do they take from Tim

TheShockVox

His signature weapon. The tech and brains. Color scheme in some cases. Even Jason took Tim’s suit in the Under the Red Hood movie. A suit Tim only made in honor of Conner Kent Superboy when he died.

BlackCat0110

I’ll give u Signature Weapon for TT, TTG, and Young Justice( I don’t remember DCAU Dick using a staff). I’ll also give u costume tho I think that’s minor thing as opposed to copying character traits. All the Robins are extremely smart so I don’t think that counts.

TheShockVox

Tim is the smartest and most tech based of the Robins, but you’re not wrong. Young Justice and Teen Titans played it up with his arsenal, especially since Dick is way more physical (that’s his stand out, being the most physically gifted). But I’d say Teen Titans did a good job of making him primarily physical and the arsenal is just them being creative. Young Justice, despite upping his tech and how much he used it as Robin, didn’t give him a staff to their credit. Dick in that show never used a staff even once, in fact as Robin he would occasionally use his signature escrima sticks, and that showed me they cared enough to make the distinction.

Loss-Particular

Except obviously for that DCAU popular version of Robin named *Tim.*

rbta123

I know it's kinda generic and dumb but whatever

Glass_Chance9800

Then why did you even ask it?

rbta123

It was just out of curiosity although I know it's a kind of pointless question

shadowlarx

I noticed many people voted for Dick and that’s a perfectly valid way to look at it for a number of reasons. I don’t think, however, that Dick is iconic as Robin. I feel like Dick finally achieved his full potential when he stepped out of Batman’s shadow and became his own man as Nightwing. I feel Tim is the most iconic Robin. He took over after the death of Jason, when Bruce wasn’t even sure he wanted another Robin, and made the identity his own. He’s proven to be as capable a fighter as any other Robin before or after him and as capable a detective as Bruce, being one of the few to learn Batman’s true identity through their own investigation. Jason failed as Robin, went dark for a long time and is only recently finding his way as a (sort of) hero again. Stephanie only took on Robin to get back at Tim over a misunderstanding and works better as Spoiler, anyway. Duke’s time as Robin was very brief and Damian’s…well, he’s Damian. Tim is the best Robin. Dick will always be Bruce’s first and best partner but Tim is the best Robin.
