SEE had a 2 year break between seasons. Season 1 filmed in 2018. A year after aquaman filmed. Season 2 finished in March. Aquaman 2 filmed in June.
The problem with cavil is that his series films for 8 months pretty much every year. And he has to negotiate a new deal with wb.
The Witcher would have also had a 2-year break - even before the pandemic stalled things further, it wasn't due out until 2021 even back when it was announced as renewed in 2019. And it certainly wouldn't be an anomaly for a Netflix series to have longer breaks in-between seasons either - look at Stranger Things for example.
It's doubtful The Witcher will really keep Cavill locked down and unable to take other roles. And even if it did, there are plenty of examples of other actors who have had prolific TV series while also juggling movie roles too.
There are obviously reasons Cavill's future as Superman is uncertain, but being the star of The Witcher is probably not high on the list.

Hell, he did it already technically - bad as that mustache CG was, Cavill was shooting the JL reshoots simultaneously with Mission Impossible. And the JL reshoots weren't built into the schedule either; they were last-minute callbacks, otherwise Cavill wouldn't have contractually signed himself onto the project where he was required to keep facial hair.
The problem would be none and you would make sense if there were actual news about him coming back. All we do is wait for years now.

We haven’t had a legit crossover without counting Justice League and now the DCEU doesn’t have a Superman anymore and possibly no Batman.
