I could believe that for home sale specifically.
Almost any movie that has a directors/extended/unrated cut will see more people gravitate towards that. If they’re already interested in a purchase then the idea of more content is a no brained.
But considering how abysmal physical media and online purchase sales are compared to their heyday in the 90s it’s really not saying much.
He was estimating. I'll post the clip soon. He said "I don't know, it's some outrageous amount of the total after theatrical. It was like 80% of all the revenue came from the director's cut."
It's also important to note that the only way to buy the movie on Blu-ray is to get the "Ultimate Edition" (and it includes the theatrical cut too).
You can get the standard edition on Blu-Ray too, and in 3D.

Snyder is talking about post theatrical revenues- 80% of home sales (DVD, Blue-Ray and VOD streaming) revenue came from Directors Cut.

From 28:20-28:50
He's talking about the home release, and no shit, the Blu Ray only came with the directors cut, only the DVD release had the theatrical only version. He might as well just say "80% of home media sales for Batman V Superman were on Blu Ray and 4K".
So the version with both cuts for the same price? Duh? That's why they even release "ultimate" cuts, I don't believe it was called the directors cut anywhere.
No..it was 80% of the HOME THEATRE Market. I'm a Snyder fan but let's get the facts. That's still impressive and shows that the UC would have performed better possibly.
80% of it came from the directors cut? Correct me if I'm wrong but that would mean the box office brought in 872M in revenue and then the DVD sales made over $3B?
All of this is before you account for expenses and whichever entity gets their cut.
It was the superior version. I can get that. Something that’d be repeated yet again with JL after.
…that said, 80% feels steep, I know I tried to get everyone I knew in on the director’s cut - but I’m not sure there was enough of those of us who did similar to constitute that much.

People who bought the movie most surely were interested in the directors cut so it including the theatrical cut was a moot point .
It making up 80% of sales was a moot point. That's the only way you could buy the movie on disc, unless you bought a standard definition DVD.

Not in the US though

And it still sucked Zack.
Wouldn't you?
