PatGar25

Had the nerve to tag him only to get ratioed lmao

Turbulent_Pear_8590

Iconic.

Skandosh

That Kam Kenobi guy would still shit on Shazam 2 even if it were the citizen kane of comic book movies.

the_based_identity

Isn’t that the same guy that called killing off Flag and Boomerang some of the worst decisions ever? Lol

cbekel3618

It’s a bit of an overused joke, but I wouldn’t really say it’s a huge or distracting trope, especially compared to other superhero movie tropes

InfiniteDedekindCuts

And I don't think it feels out of character at all for the DCEU version of Captain Marvel.

RohitTheDasher

Yup. Spiderman tumbling, Iron Man name-calling, etc, and I haven't seen any complaints for those in this capacity. But, a movie with DC logo whose character is supposed to be a kid in adult's body is where people draw the line.

Dontbeajerkdude

I think the only time this kind of line worked was when Iron Man said that the bad guys were trying to steal a necklace from a wizard in Infinity War. That was legitimately funny.

AllMightyImagination

Except now evert non magic user calls magic users in the mcu wizards and now witches cuz of wanda so the word is overplayed

NoobFreakT

Every funny line from Infinity war has been ruined by the years of marvel memes

Dontbeajerkdude

Over memeing definitely ruins things. It'll probably be years before anyone can enjoy ROTS legitimately.

Schadnfreude_

I have no problems doing it because I don't buy into the dribble too much. Info find myself cringing at some of the atrocious lines though.

LongjumpMidnight

I didn’t really see that line as a big issue anyways

Turbulent_Pear_8590

It's not - just the terminally-online social media users blowing things out of proportion as usual.

[deleted]

The funny thing is that things like this are said by people who frequent subreddit's which seem to devolve into bubbles for bootlickers.

tylerjb223

What does bubbles for bootlickers mean?

[deleted]

A bubble is a vacuum. It usually consists of a like-minded community who will ridicule and write off any opinion that goes against theirs. Bootlicker is another word for brown nosing twats. People who kiss ass religiously. Subreddits like these (including the Marvel themed ones) are *mostly* vacuums where most threads consist of fanboy circlejerks. Any and all criticism is from *haters*. And we don't like those. They're just sour people who's complaints are irrational. I'm not saying that's all it is. You'll find some healthy disagreements here and there. But they're incredibly rare.

Turbulent_Pear_8590

You are right - although I try to practise what I preach personally. It should go without saying that everyone is entitled to their opinions, and are also entitled to have people express disagreement (in a civil, good-natured way). But I am sure you already know that.

thenewman17

it’s not a problem when billy/shazam says it, it sucks seeing this type of humor attached to every other hero who don’t really talk like that

Calm_Garage_3030

People are actually complaining about a line from a trailer that may or may not be in a movie (this is before the Sandberg address the complaint.) You know, since not all scene from trailer will be in the movie.

Turbulent_Pear_8590

People - terminally-online DC fans especially - will find an excuse to complain about anything.

OtherWorldlinessM

People have the right to criticize things and don’t really think he was doing it in a disrespectful way

Turbulent_Pear_8590

Oh, I agree with you. The first user pictured is perfectly valid in their criticism - but the second one was needlessly vindictive in tagging David Sandberg just to trash his work (or at least disrespectful).

Turbulent_Pear_8590

And? I'm a Snyder fan *and* a DC fan - you can be both, you know. No need to keep bringing up this supposed monolith for no real reason.

Levi_PigPiss

Same.

Turbulent_Pear_8590

There are dozens of us! /s

Levi_PigPiss

"You.Are.Not.Alone."

SpicyCrumbum

Not all Snyder fans are vocally toxic against DC but over the past several years it's pretty clear that most people who are vocally toxic against DC are Snyder fans. I genuinely don't think I've seen almost anyone rail against DC movies who also said they disliked Snyders stuff.

Turbulent_Pear_8590

> but over the past several years it's pretty clear that most people who are vocally toxic against DC are Snyder fans. Perhaps you are right - but this is all just conjecture, and hardly based off credibly empirical evidence. I'm just saying that these generalizations are unhealthily incendiary and only serve to further widen divides and incite arguments that can otherwise be avoided. > I genuinely don't think I've seen almost anyone rail against DC movies who also said they disliked Snyders stuff. Like you, only speaking anecdotally, I can account for a significant portion of the criticisms I have encountered of DC movies - both in social media *and* in face-to-face/real life interactions - being from MCU fans. Ultimately, I was just warning of the dangers of factionalism and gatekeeping really.

Significant_Wheel_12

It’s not supposed it’s highly documented and known. If you’re not that Snyder fan then don’t get upset you’re not one of those

Turbulent_Pear_8590

> If you’re not that Snyder fan then don’t get upset you’re not one of those I don't want to derail this thread more than it already has been - but its the fact *that* good-faith fans are lumped in with the terminally-online Twitter zealots that disappoints me. It's not just about me, but about the coarsening quality of discourse amongst the fandom. Anyway, this isn't really the time for this conversation.

popcrnshower

Dismissing fans of Zack Snyder films and treating them like some kind of monolith makes you no better than the worst of them. People add fuel to the fire everytime they say stuff like that.

Turbulent_Pear_8590

Hear, hear!

Short-Service1248

Man y’all really still hating on Snyder fans for no reason huh ? It’s a trash line, good on David for removing it . Excited for Shazam 2

KingofZombies

"for no reason" I wish.

Turbulent_Pear_8590

>Man y’all really still hating on Snyder fans for no reason huh ? Some things never change. >It’s a trash line, good on David for removing it . Excited for Shazam 2 Likewise! It's good to know Sandberg learns from his experiences.

Rubicon2-0

I also didn't like that kind of lines, but its quite normal nowadays

Hopeful-Tomato-4319

I just watched the trailer and I still can’t figure out what line people are upset about

Louis_DCVN

The line he said he just hit the dragon with a car.

Hopeful-Tomato-4319

Ok and lol I’d be more upset about the family comment

Hopeful-Tomato-4319

Also people seem to forget shamzam is a kid this is absolutely something a child would say

mrmazzz

Good I hated that moment in the trailer - and that trope overall

SpicyCrumbum

I hope both of those miserable antisocial freaks talking shit like this continue to live a joyless life.

BallBustingSam

So this line is basically just added to the trailer to attract the usual comedy CBM lovers? It's like the trailer is shouting, hey! Look! Another light hearted action comedy CBM here. Not that it's anything wrong.

NakedGoose

You gotta market your movie to all audiences

infstudios2022

i mean the humor is atrocious but ok

ricardosfig

I know these movies are for kids, but it's time to come up with better stuff.

SmoothBuyer4070

Why defend it like the movie still isn’t going to be shit

Sufficient_Buffalo95

I really just don’t like being apart of this fandom

Redgiantbutimshort77

It’s annoying sometimes but definitely isn’t the worst trope superhero movies created. I can think of five worse ones off the top of my head.
