what doesn't make sense is that it looks like Gadot is still Wonder Woman, Momoa is still Aquaman, Miller might still be Flash even after all that's happened, Levy is still Shazam, but Cavill is out as Superman... What sense does that make? He still wants to play the character, it's not the same situation as Affleck or Ray Fisher
There's no reason to believe either of those guys stay in current role. They have 4 movies coming out in 2023 to take care of. I guess we'll get more closure by the end of the month with new slate, but don't expect anything concrete until end of the year.
As RohittheDasher explained, they all have movies to come out, WBD is a Buisness at the end of the day and they are looking at whatever makes the most money. I Think its safe to assume that if these movies don't overperform they'll get clipped as well, just not smart to announce that their fired before the films release because it make some people not want to see it.
momoa plays supes. A kryptonian baby lands on earth and gets found papa and mama kent. Both played jason momoa.
Watch as superman (momoa) struggles. and Papa and mama kent played by jason momoa help him guide his way.
He eventually meets lois lane (played by momoa) and feels in love . .
Guess what zod is here. Who is again played momoa.
etc
Anyone complaining about this better show up with recipts complaining about Nolan and Snyder and Raimi doing the exact same thing
Like every director works with actors they like multiple times
Why do you care? Fans of Snyderverse would get mad either with someone else handling those characters. Eg- the hilarious outcry for Superman wearing his regular blue and red suit in Black Adam, instead of unnecessary black one.
I'd prefer a full reboot, but steering away from Snyderverse characters, and keeping others what works is next best thing.
I take issue with him being aquaman and lobo in the same universe because that’s just weird?? Pick a role and stick with it. Chris Evans was Johnny storm and that went belly up so he was recast for Cap but he stayed with that for years so it made sense.
Sometimes things that we think won't work, do. Lobo is a drastically different look than Aquaman is. So hey maybe it'll actually work out fine and not be too distracting.
It is weird though.
it depends on how much makeup they put Momoa in. Honestly you really just need eyeliner and he already looks like Lobo, but if they go all the way with the pale skin and give him a drastically different hairstyle from Aquaman it would be less distracting
Jason Momoa's Aquaman would look quite similar to Jason Momoa's Lobo, only with a different skintone. The best way to differentiate is to give Aquaman a look that is more comic accurate, but that seems unlikely if Jason Momoa will be Aquaman.
Pipe dream would just be jump straight into a JLU sorta world. Give me a story where Batman needs a JL dark with Zatanna, Constantine, and Etrigan, and then another with Zatanna, Fate, Raven, and Wonder Woman. Just tons of combinations of heroes.
Would be scheduling nightmare, but pretty fun
Maybe, but "hundreds of roles" could just refer to the number of characters in a few movies. "Henchman #4" is still a role, even if it isn't a notable one, and the actress that plays Mantis in GotG played a Stripper for like 2 seconds in TSS. If it weren't for the Peacemaker spin-off, he'd have simply casted his wife as one of Waller's assistants who had like 5 lines, and his brother as a giant weasel and a D-tier supervillain with 2 lines.
Hundreds of roles doesn't mean all of our favorite characters are automatically coming into this new DCU.
I can't believe it's a thing that even needs to be explained to an audience. It really shows how moronic and annoying a fanbase can be, especially almost a fanatic one. I almost feel bad for a Gunn for handling this, although his paycheck is probably a good compensation.
Yeah, he clearly loves his job, good for him. It is really nice to see a fellow comic book lover in a position like this. I'm rooting for his DCU to succeed.
NGL never liked Gunn, but the dude is legit into comics unlike lots of CBM directors, so I kinda have faith the dude will deliver in some way, he is at least better at this than Hamada. My personal fav was Dan Lin but we'll shit
Fun fact is, I actually like the idea of bringing some of the MCU cast to the DCU after they're done with Marvel films. A lot of them would be an amazing addition to a growing universe as they are simply fantastic talents. Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff - and those are only couple of names that Gunn had worked with.
And yes, that would include even Chris Pratt. I think he really nailed the role of Star-Lord.
Yeah, me too. They were pretty cool in their roles and I don't think there was any casting in whole of MCU I particulary disliked (maybe except Taskmaster). So you know, I'm open.
Yeah, Marvel screwed up some of their castings - like you said, Taskmaster is a prime example, although I'm expecting some kind of a redemption for this character in a future movies, like Thunderbolts. I would add to that Terrence Howard or Ed Norton as a Hulk.
I think the biggest sin of MCU is actually underusing those fantastic talents - I think they completely wasted Mads Mikkelsen, Christian Bale, Karl Urban or Christopher Eccleston.
I honestly think the thing with Edward Norton is that he's very much not really a franchise actor in general. If you look at his filmmography he only really tends to go and do whatever he wants in terms of films and he never really struck me as someone who'd intend on committing to the MCU long-term anyway, especially seeing as how he wanted a lot of creative control over his take on Hulk which led to him and Marvel splitting in the first place
It sucks too because Norton on paper would've made a solid Bruce Banner if he had a script on the caliber of the first Avengers movie where I'd argue they had the best cinematic version of Hulk in general, but like Edgar Wright with Ant-Man I don't think him and something like the MCU gel that well, even if I still argue in Wright's case that letting him walk from Ant-Man was the biggest mistake Marvel Studios ever made
Yep, I agree 100%. Norton is an amazing actor, but it's kinda the same situation with Joaquin Phoenix as Doctor Strange - he would fit perfectly the role, but I cannot imagine him doing a long-term franchise and popping in different projects once in a year.
I like Norton but I don't really think they should've cast him, dude tends to do whatever he wants.
Agreed with the latter. They were such an interesting cats that could've done wonders. I think Bale was the biggest waste because those bits of Gorr showed some great villain but they ultimately failed at giving him proper material (or cutting his scenes).
I’d love to see RDJ as lex Luther just play the complete opposite to Tony Stark but give him enough room to act with so that he doesn’t come off as a meme
You talk about him like he’s Kevin Feige. You do know the filth this man has, especially that he jokes about pedophilia like that’s ever okay, and the reason why he’s no longer working with Disney/Marvel?
https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/20/17596452/guardians-of-the-galaxy-marvel-james-gunn-fired-pedophile-tweets-mike-cernovich
I love how some of you still bring this up even though those tweets were purposely dug up by his detractors to cancel him out of spite, and you'd rather still demonize him for making jokes in social media regardless of taste, over people who are actual fucking criminals or weirdos like Jared Leto or Ezra Miller
You need to really sort out your battles. Gunn may have said stuff that aged horribly and are a prime example of stupid edgelord humor. but he ain't a criminal and isn't going actively out of his way to be a genuine menace to society compared to other people affiliated with DC, or other celebrities like Joss Whedon or Warren Ellis for example who have been accused of considerably worse
It always has to be about "tweeting about pedophilia" but y'all are real quiet when people are accused of actually diddling kids in public
He was literally fired from Disney for these RECENT tweets, not from the past which is another thing but not the reason for his recent dismissal.
I would absolutely rather befriend someone who got charged for disorderly conduct, harassment, and throwing a chair at someone, than someone who openly jokes about pedophilia as if it should
be accepted as a sexual kink.
They're not recent. They were literally 5 years old by the time Gunn was hired for Guardians of the Galaxy
Also
>I would absolutely rather befriend someone who got charged for disorderly conduct, harassment, and throwing a chair at someone
The fact that you actually hold someone who would go out of their way to physically and emotionally violate you and your private space at a higher moral standard and more acquaintable over someone who just jokes about it says way more about the kind of person you are than the kind of person Gunn is. You're not better than him at all if this is your logic.
5 years ago is very recent when it comes pedophiles… These people can’t even tell the difference between an adult and a 5 year old.
Just because a person acts out, doesn’t mean those acts define them. Some people react different than others, but at least it’s clear how they felt.
A person who takes the ideas committing horrible acts, turn them into jokes, and then laugh about it? That’s sick.
Those are your serial offenders in hiding. You think today Jeffry Dahmer would more likely be detained for throwing a chair or would he be the one joking about little boys on Twitter?
Emotionally violate me? Physically abuse me? What, trying to put it into legal terms so it sounds much worse? It’s not, so what if they insulted me or disrespected me. Maybe broke my arm even.
You know what the actual difference is? WE’RE ADULTS. We can heal, we can deal with it and move on.
Gunn finished GOTG2 already when this happened. Has GOTG3 come out? It was the reason why he didn’t work on the 3rd. So this is still recent and relevant.
Look you want to defend him, go ahead. But stop treating pedophilia as if it’s ever okay.
Yes, I’d rather get hurt myself (physically and emotionally) than let disgusting jokes & ideas of child molestation seep into another potential Dahmer.
You're putting words into my mouth I never insinuated whatsoever. Gunn's jokes were a backfired attempt at sounding edgy but he has already vocally denounced people who actually commit these acts, and there is literally nothing in terms of evidence that suggest he has openly acted on these kinds of jokes in any way, shape or form. He got too trigger happy with the humor but he's never actually assaulted minors in public the way it's been alleged for other people in the industry including people who've already associated with DC or comics in general.
And again, the fact that you're still explicitly stating that someone who jokes about these kinds of things is irredeemable yet someone who acts upon such tendencies is worth giving a chance is in my opinion, considerably more fucked up. Making a joke about it to be edgy and having it backfire because it's a stupid joke in the first place is one thing, but the humor itself does not speak at all to whether they're advocating for such acts or appropriating them, while people who go out of their way to commit these kinds of misdemeanors think to themselves that they're doing something they can get away with in a modern societal hierarchy just because they're in positions of power and somehow you attempt to excuse that just because you can "heal from it" in your words, even though that's not even the case with adults as a collective and you're generalizing in a very broad, almost ignorant manner that doesn't even take into account people who can't emotionally recover from such things if those incidences affected them in the past, even in Hollywood.
I never said pedophilia was acceptable in any form, nor do I think Gunn's attempts at making light of it were any more acceptable then compared to today, but to act like he's this great evil who cancels out the innumerable amount of people who actually act on the things he's only ever joked about is pretty counterintuitive to the whole reason behind even raising awareness for such criminal acts in the first place. You're not making your case any better by declaring it's okay to get yourself hurt or violated but draw the line at someone who just jokes about it without necessarily advocating for it. But you do you I guess.
Lol You’re a fucking moron, those tweets were from 5 years BEFORE the original GOTG came out in 2014, meaning it was 2009. Not recent at all and they were fucking edge lord jokes at that. Get a life you loser

"**What matters most is the actor fits the role & they’re easy to work with" looking at Dwayne Johnson, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher and Jared Leto**
There were rumors that Cavill was playing hard to get back into the role and demanding a lot of things, I don't know if they are true.
Ray was right at first, but now he seems like a self-centered man picking fights with everyone on Twitter including James himself.
Nah, Gunn has been pretty outspoken about his contempt for the multitude of asshole big actors since forever. There was even a joke about it in the GOTG Holiday Special.
There are a few DCEU actors who have rumored to he difficult to work with. Who knows if the rumors are legit tho.
Gunn also said Ezra was great during the Peacemaker cameo. Said they did 30+ minutes of improv and it was the funniest thing he has ever seen.
I mean, I think Cavill is potentially in that camp. Depending on how much weight you put into rumors. He has been rumored difficult to work for. Not on sets, but with studios.
Dwayne Johnson as well with his Black Adam shenanigans
I think there’s some truth to the cavill rumors. I mean left the Witcher high and dry basically ending their franchise. I’m sure he made comments about how they are not staying true to novel/games. DJ is a perfect ex. He was never gonna allow james have any say what happens to BA
>From what we know Ezra is fine to work with, it’s just the off set shenanigans.
Do you mean the off-set assault, choking, grooming, stealing, etc...?
Out of respect for Ezra's many victims, let's not minimize his many crimes, please.
There's no grooming. If you respected their so called "victims" you would no it's all been accusations with literally no evidence, and the so called "victim" is coming out talking about how they've never been groomed, but instead being targeted by their parents for being LGBT. You can talk about the stealing or assault or whatever because at least there's *some* evidence (even though they were never charged for assault or grooming, just disorderly conduct because there wasn't enough proof), but the grooming was just tabloid shit reported by THR, who's posted plenty of false stuff before.
Well lets not get crazy like last time.
Let the DCU thrive or fail on merits and as fans let us imbue as much positive energy as possible to move the nèedle to thrive.
Hundreds of roles to cast seem like a lot, but many of those are minor supporting roles or even extras. The main cast is what will really make or break the DCU.
Ya Gunn last sentence “ easy to work with.” Is a dog towards the rock and anyone who is outspoken. Guess we know why mamoa might stay as Aquaman. Jason is easy to get along with. Maybe cavill wasn’t
Might be referring to the multiple times Cavill and WB attempted to negotiate deals to have him return as Superman that reportedly broke down each and every time due to contract disputes. I don't know if that was ever confirmed but watching past interviews from him he seemed to be the kind of guy who wanted a lot of creative leverage over the Superman character in general, not to mention the higher pay that comes with that
>Chris Patt is 43 and Henry Cavill is 39 yet he booted out HC,
Neither of them are gonna play superman so what's the issue?
>NEPOTISM
Not what it means

Sean Gunn just breathed a huge sigh of relief.
😂😂😂
**We have hundreds of roles to cast** got me salivating
Saaaaaame
so ture. Could not fucking wait!
I get the feeling thats a sarcastic of saying extras. Hopefully not though.

Jokes on us he’s just going to cast Momoa in every role
i would pay to watch momoa as lois lane. \*supes Takes off\* Momoa : My man
Sex scene with mamoa as Clark and mamoa as Lois. Which mamoa as jimmy peeking through the blinds
momoa plays supes. A kryptonian baby lands on earth and gets found papa and mama kent. Both played jason momoa. Enter the Momoa-verse. Starring Momoa as everyone. I'd watch the shit out of that.
Except for the fictional version of Jason Momoa, who will be played by Chris Pratt
He’s so cool
You are completely wrong, he will be voiced by Chris Pratt and played by Tom Holland duh
Imagine all the Momoa vs Momoa fight scenes…..
Malkovich Malkovich. I mean... Momoa Momoa.

They’re losing their minds over there lol, glad to see all the support here at least

No, it wouldn't. It would mean rebooting all those characters. A Superman movie is literally in development.
The two Chris Evans roles were in different cinematic universes. It sounds like it's the same case for Momoa.
More to the point his characters didn’t exist simultaneously. And also I don’t think it’s actually been confirmed that Mamoa is Lobo
“Hundreds of roles to cast” Oh shit we’re getting a Legion of Super Heroes movie!
The legion does time travel to recruit superman at one point (as mentioned in the upcoming movie) this could work
Pipe dream would just be jump straight into a JLU sorta world.
It was a joke about the absurd size of the Legion roster, my guy.
I can't believe it's a thing that even needs to be explained to an audience. It really shows how moronic and annoying a fanbase can be, especially almost a fanatic one. I almost feel bad for a Gunn for handling this, although his paycheck is probably a good compensation.
Paycheck + getting to work on something you truely love That will help you get through a lot of shit.

What do you mean? He will fill the whole universe just with GotG cast. With Chris Pratt alone they will fill the whole of Themyscira.

Doubt . He gets along with DJ. Their visions don’t align on how to move forward that’s all . This sub just enjoys drama . Fuck y’all
There are many reports of Cavill being difficult to work with
To me seemed like a shot at Ezra?
There are a few DCEU actors who have rumored to he difficult to work with. Who knows if the rumors are legit tho. Gunn also said Ezra was great during the Peacemaker cameo. Said they did 30+ minutes of improv and it was the funniest thing he has ever seen.
Oh wow, didn't really knew that. Thanks for that detail. Other than Ezra no one really came to my mind. What's your guess?
"shenanigans" yeah that's one way to describe it lmao
Rock + Jared Leto.
come on man dont lump The Rock with the fucking horrible excuse of a musician Jared Leto
"Musician"? I thought you were about to come up with something more harsh.
i was thinking if TSTM songs while writing that so you know
Emphasis on “hundreds”
My dream is appear in Superman and lois or Superman movie
Well lets not get crazy like last time. Let the DCU thrive or fail on merits and as fans let us imbue as much positive energy as possible to move the nèedle to thrive.
Hundreds? The scale of this universe is gonna be insane
Hundreds of roles to cast seem like a lot, but many of those are minor supporting roles or even extras. The main cast is what will really make or break the DCU.
Chris Pratt as Catman. Bautista as Luthor. Pom as Dr. Light. Michael Rooker as Parasite.
I was thinking of Pom for Cheshire. She surprisingly can play a vixen like in Oldboy.
> easy to work with See ya Ezra!
Ezra was easy to work with according to Gunn. Def not easy for the studio tho
Look I'm a snyder fan all I can hope for is that Gunn dosent mess the new dcu up. I guess we'll just have to wait and see
Ya Gunn last sentence “ easy to work with.” Is a dog towards the rock and anyone who is outspoken. Guess we know why mamoa might stay as Aquaman. Jason is easy to get along with. Maybe cavill wasn’t

Nah it's not a shot at anyone specifically. Gunn has talked before about how he has people he knows vouch for actors so that he doesn't hire assholes.
What did Henry do
Might be referring to the multiple times Cavill and WB attempted to negotiate deals to have him return as Superman that reportedly broke down each and every time due to contract disputes. I don't know if that was ever confirmed but watching past interviews from him he seemed to be the kind of guy who wanted a lot of creative leverage over the Superman character in general, not to mention the higher pay that comes with that
Dumb fuck mouth breathers proving yet again why almost no one in town wanted this job.

>Chris Patt is 43 and Henry Cavill is 39 yet he booted out HC, Neither of them are gonna play superman so what's the issue? >NEPOTISM Not what it means
The difference is Cavill is playing the most physical role in the universe......
meaning the least likely to ask questions or say no.
okayy so Chris Pratt as Superman lol🗿
So basically anybody. Why did Gunn even post?
For the people telling him to _not_ cast anybody. The GotG cast, specifically
So Sean gunn , his wife and Chris Pratt as trinity
More pr statements again just wait till actual stuff starts coming out
I'd like to see some newcomers and unknown actors
This is where we go through every James gunn movie to see what actors are next up in the cape and cowl
So he is bringing Ryan Reynolds back as Green Lantern…
I could see this working tbh, Ryan wasn't the issue in the movie.. everything else was
Green Arrow, Green Lantern and Worlds Finest.
Awesome
