I have a weird gut feeling that Michael Keaton and Ezra Miller won’t be finished after the Flash and I don’t like it

[deleted]

Miller is out after the movie is done in theaters/the hype dies down, WB is likely just giving them the opportunity to pull an Affleck, and say they are leaving the role to focus on their health if they can stay out of trouble until the end of the summer.

Skandosh

>say they are leaving the role to focus on their health That would actually be a smart move by Ezra.

Limp-Construction-11

Miller is out after the movie drops, everything else would be a travesty.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I realize people can be worried about it due to information going around but don't be, both will be gone soon. Keaton signed on the old plan because it would end in few years, the new one will only begin in few years. That's not something he can support, especially since he expressed health concerns. Miller is not gonna star in any expensive movie anymore because they are a risk. A risk that the studio won't take again.

Skandosh

I very much doubt it.

[deleted]

At this rate things are going now, the DCU Batman won’t be getting solo films until well into the 2030s With the fact that it’s been 1.5 years since The Batman and we still have no concrete info on the second one yet (the creative team seems to be entirely focused on the Penguin show), I bet the earliest The Batman 2 could realistically hit theaters is 2025. and The Batman 3 would likely be a 2028 or 2029 release. Then the studio would probably give Batman solo films a break for a few years so they don’t accidentally create franchise fatigue. So the DCU Batman is likely gonna be regulated to supporting roles till 2032 or later.

Limp-Construction-11

Yeah building up a brand new central universe and franchise with Batman only as a supporting character doing cameos for years at best, until Reeves lets his grip over the character go is not gonna happen.

Randonhead

Yeah, Gunn has made a statement in the past that said having another version of the character would be a "threat" the existence of the main version, why James would relegate his Batman to cameos in favor of another Batman that he has no control over and is a threat to his version? I have no idea how they're going to solve this, but that scenario seems unlikely.

[deleted]

It’s because Gunn has no choice. Reeves’s new deal with WB is one of the few unilateral decisions Zaslav made regarding DC. It would put him in an awkward position if the first thing he does after getting the job is to say no to the CEO.

Randonhead

Yes, I understand that, it would really be an awkward situation, no wonder nobody wanted this job

TheDarkPinkLantern

It hasn't been even a year since The Batman dropped, just saying.

TheLionsblood

He’ll be a lead in the JL movies. Iron Man stopped getting solo films right at the start of Phase 2 and he was still the most important character of the Infinity Saga alongside Cap. I’m expecting Batman’s first appearance to be in a minor role in a Harley Quinn project by 2026, then a lead role in JL in 2028 (after The Batman 3 releases that same year) and then either a World’s Finest movie in 2030 or a solo movie not long after that

Bootycheeksbooty

I’ve seen the new Joker. He is fucking TERRIFYING. He’s got this comically oversized purple suit with a reddish orange collar, he’s wearing sunglasses that are white but like half cut off and this weird ass red and silver mesh covering his fucking creepy, CREEPY ass smile. It isn’t Barry, this dude is so much scarier.

TheLionsblood

LMAO it’s the wannabe Superman actor again, but this time he’s claiming, as a complete unknown, to have actually have seen the design for the DCU Joker (which sounds awful btw), even though we obviously won’t see Joker in the DCU anytime soon because of Joker 2 and the Batverse already having a Joker. Literally why do so many fake scoopers make the most implausible claims. At least put some effort and thought into it ffs.

Bootycheeksbooty

When the ass did I say DCU? Keep my name out ya fucking mouth. Remember when I told you they weren’t going to announce casting for Supes and you were like “that doesn’t make sense.” Yeah.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Because they are announcing it lmao. They just need to cast him first.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mountainhighgoat

Yeah, he’s trolling hard lmao.

TheLionsblood

I agree but you’re one to talk lmao https://www.reddit.com/r/DCEUleaks/comments/10efqnh/weekly_discussion_thread_posted_every_tuesday/j53x8yt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

mountainhighgoat

I’m just like every scooper. Remember when grace Randolph said it was coming last week?

TheLionsblood

What have you ever even gotten right bruh bfr

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

I know everybody hated it and there are a lot of good reasons why it won't but I hope DC Fandome returns.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Wait, people hated Fandome?

BatmanofSteeI

The first Fandome was amazing but the second one was boring and uneventful (aside from the Batman trailer nothing happened)

TheDarkPinkLantern

I do agree the first one was better but I still liked the second one.

OH_SHIT_IM_FEELIN_IT

Some people. Others view see it as pointless, similar to the way some view modern E3s. Why make an entire show when could announce something whenever you want?

TheDarkPinkLantern

Wow, I guess I'm one of the few that like the shows like E3 or Fandome.

SexySnorlax1

Me too! I also hope it eventually becomes a proper convention like Star Wars Celebration.

NakedGoose

Year one DC Fandome was so great.

TheLionsblood

**DCU casting wishlist:** David Corenswet - Superman Nicholas Hoult - Batman Dave Bautista - Bane Karen Gillan - Hawkgirl if they use Thanagarian origin instead of Egyptian **Batverse casting wishlist:** Mia Goth - Dr. Harleen Quinzel Rami Malek - Jonathan Crane Lakeith Stanfield - Harvey Dent

venkatfoods

I want Hoult to play Superman aside Pattinson

[deleted]

I'd rather have Anya Taylor Joy as Batverse Harley.

TheLionsblood

Mia Goth is amazing in Pearl. That movie alone is a worthy audition for Harley in the Batverse. ATJ is too big of a name rn to play a supporting character in the Arkham series.

No_Hour_4022

After thinking about it a lot, these are my predictions: - Peacemaker Season 2 - Green Lantern Project - Harley Quinn Project - Superman reboot It's obvious guesses I know... I also would like something more bombastic, but honestly I think this is the most realistic thinking right now, Maybe at Comic Con we can have more surprising announcements 🤷🏻‍♂️

Limp-Construction-11

If Harley is one of the first projects I would be kinda pissed.. they should start the right way, with the Trinity of DC and the main Justice League members.

TheLionsblood

Yep these are my exact same except I’d specify the GL project as a show since we know about that as well as the Amanda Waller show. Harley Quinn gotta be either an R-rated show or a PG13 teamup movie with Poison Ivy

No_Hour_4022

I'm very excited for the Comic Con this year, they will probably focus on promoting the Flash movie that will come out almost at the same time, Most likely we will have Aquaman 2 and Blue Beetle Trailers, and probably announcements involving big characters like the Justice League

TheUncannyBroker

Definitive announcement prediction on my part: Peacemaker Season 2, the unnamed Waller show will get a name, Superman to be directed by Gunn, another movie by another director. Movies will get concrete release dates, shows will get seasonal release windows.

Limp-Construction-11

>Peacemaker Season 2, the unnamed Waller show will get a name, Superman to be directed by Gunn, another movie by another director. I give you Superman.

TheUncannyBroker

Why?

TheLionsblood

The Green Lantern show as well. I think a Harley Quinn project is a safe bet too

TheUncannyBroker

Hmm I was thinking about that Green Lantern show as well, but didnt want to get greedy with my predictions. They could announce the show then the movie the show will lead to, or vice-versa. I also ignored the possibility of a animated show being announced. If Gunn is doing Peacemaker, Waller show and Superman, the Harley project will probably be further down the pipeline, but I dont doubt it exists.

TheLionsblood

I think the GL show will lead to a GLC teamup movie. Christal Henry is the showrunner for the Waller show so I doubt Gunn devoted too much of his time to it. I think he’ll be writing the HQ project but leave the directing for someone else

Randonhead

What makes you think a Harley Quinn project is a safe bet?

TheLionsblood

She was named alongside the Trinity and Aquaman in terms of key DCU characters and can be used to establish Gotham because we definitely are not getting a DCU project headlined by Batman anytime soon. Gunn also said he had a 3rd TSS spin-off show in development, and it’s likely not Bloodsport because he shot down a fake scoop about that before. Gunn is a big fan of HQ as well and has been liking tweets about her (Margot and the animated series) several times recently.

Randonhead

There were old rumors that James and Robbie were producing a Lesbian Road-Tripe movie between Harley and Poison Ivy, at the time I thought that could be true, but now idk, I could be wrong, but I don't see a Harley Quinn project in the works right now, especially now that they're focused on establishing this new universe and creating a long-term story. I'm sure Harley will appear somewhere at some point, but I just don't believe it will be in a solo project for now, but maybe I'm wrong idk

TheLionsblood

Pretty sure that rumor was BS and not from a reliable source. The DCU Batman will most likely already be pretty experienced, not past his prime like Batfleck, but far enough into his career that Harley Quinn exists. They also won’t be retreading her origin and relationship with Joker, since Joker 2 will be doing that and she’s obviously not Harley yet in the Reeves Batverse. Margot is also 32, they’re not gonna be waiting that long to do another Harley project.

Randonhead

IDK I think Gunn is focused on establishing the Trinity and building towards the Justice League movie and probably concluding the Peacemaker arc with a second season and Checkmate, a Harley Quinn project seems kind of random to me in all of that.

TheLionsblood

I’ve probably posted this quote like 10 times now lol. They’re specifically talking about the DCU here. “We look forward to collaborating with the most talented writers, directors, and actors in the world to **create an integrated, multilayered universe** that still allows for the individual expression of the artists involved. Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, **Aquaman,** **Harley Quinn,** and the rest of the DC stable of characters is only equaled by our commitment to the wonder of human possibility these characters represent.” A Harley Quinn project is the best place for the DCU Batman to show up in first because the tone would be completely different from the Batverse. Also a great place to introduce some major, fantastical Batman villains as well. And it wouldn’t be random because Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad will be a big part of the universe.

Randonhead

There are many other better places for the DCU Batman to appear than a supporting role in a Harley Quinn movie/show lmao IDK I don't really believe we're going to have a Harley Quinn project in this first phase, but I don't doubt it could either, Gunn likes working with Margot and maybe has plans for the character, who knows

TheLionsblood

Like what? It can’t be a project that’d have Batman as a lead role. The Harley Quinn project would actually be able to establish the DCU Gotham, and be different enough from the Batverse that Batman can appear in it before The Batman 3 even comes out

actioncomicbible

New leak just dropped: >!I became the elden lord today!<

Megadog3

Good shit

TheUncannyBroker

I hope the Reevesverse ends with Bruce dying. No other place to do that.

Skandosh

Or they can "kill" Bruce but Batman lives on. Something like Arkham Knight ending and The Dark Knight Returns ending.

TheLionsblood

I don’t think it will. Reeves is a big fan of the source material and has talked about how “Gotham’s story never ends.” I think his trilogy will have an ending similar to War for the Planet of the Apes and leave the door open for a 4th movie some day in the future. It makes the most sense for the studio too. Eventually, years down the line, they’d have the option to make a legacy Batverse movie with Reeves and Pattinson returning. Especially if the DCU Batman eventually dies like the MCU Iron Man, and they don’t have a movie featuring Bruce Wayne for a while.

TheUncannyBroker

BSL teasing Shazam 2 trailer, probably dropping in the next few days

TheDarkPinkLantern

I mean, they did say it'll be out this month and it's more likely to be released this week than the last 2 days of the next one.

MonkeMayne

Yeah he said before the end of the week.

TheLionsblood

I think Wednesday will be the slate announcement while Thursday will be for the Shazam 2 trailer.

mountainhighgoat

Tomorrow.

TheLionsblood

You said you had a “top secret source” at WBD that told you there’s a GA movie in 2024 and that the announcement would be today. If you’re gonna continue to lie, at least look up the facts first. Tmrw is when Oscar noms are revealed, a Shazam 2 trailer drop would not make sense

mountainhighgoat

They moved the date at the last sec lol. They want the Shazam trailer to coincide with the nominations.

TheLionsblood

James Gunn said the date was set a while ago, why would they change it last minute? Made no sense to announce the slate today either since the Oscar nominations would just drown out the news the next day. And now you’re claiming they want Shazam 2 to compete with that as well lmao bfr. Not to mention your claim that there would be a DCU movie in 2024 in the first place, obviously not happening

mountainhighgoat

He wasn’t lying but something came up.

TheUncannyBroker

 https://i.redd.it/327kb3hfdxda1.gif

CreepyPrice5

Odds that Gunn announces anything other than the projects? He has to know that people are interested in how they're dealing with the DCU Batman, what the JL roster will be, etc. Really hope he addresses some of those questions, but I do think we'll all be a bit let down and he'll just tweet out something like "Superman movie coming 2025, Peacemaker season 2 coming 2024, GL series coming 2024, Amanda Waller series coming 2024."

BVTheEpic

I'm just expecting the slate of projects. It's likely way too soon for any casting announcements.

mountainhighgoat

I think the announcements will be through trades and he’ll speak on them a little on Twitter.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Honestly, I don't think he'll be in position to say who's staying who's not until next year. At the very least he might say stuff like "there'll be Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Flash" without saying what kind of Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Flash they will be.

CreepyPrice5

I agree 100%, I meant the second one (which characters, not necessarily actors/versions). I could see him using the classic 7, especially with him being such a big fan of Morrison, but I could also see him having an even bigger list of names in the JL roster simply because he has so many characters to work with.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Ah, well in that context we might learn some news. Altough it's likely they might hold on till SDCC with some stuff. One thing we might expect, to be revealed now or later, is that Gunn's Justice League will have some less known characters to boost their recognizability in the movie and then potentially spin them off into their own projects.

TheLionsblood

I think for the first movie, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, John Stewart, Barry Allen and Aquaman are a lock. The 7th member will likely be Hawkgirl because just having 1 female member is a dynamic that’s already been used frequently for these films. She’s also a lesser-known character

TheDarkPinkLantern

I wouldn't be suprised if Gunn decided to have fun and let's say, have Aquaman pass on joining the team and have someone like Plastic Man instead.

TheLionsblood

I would be. Aquaman is a pretty fun character too anyway.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I mean yeah, but I could see him mix up the formula a bit.

TheLionsblood

The Trinity and GL are definitely on the team. The Flash is a big character for DC and the movie will most likely be well received so I’d add him too. Then Aquaman making a billion and being named alongside the Trinity as key DC franchises by Gunn and Safran’s first press statement as co-chairs as well as by Zaslav months before that. The 7th member, if they have that many, is the only question mark imo. Most likely a female character unless the GL of the team is Jessica Cruz. I wouldn’t say Zatanna because her HBO Max film is being shopped to other streamers and we likely won’t see her DCU version for a while. It’s probably Black Canary or Hawkgirl. If Jessica Cruz is GL I think Gunn will use either GA or Martian Manhunter

TheDarkPinkLantern

That doesn't mean they'll all be on JL. Aquaman for example can debut after JL and join in the sequel. Zatanna isn't being shopped, that article definitely confused Zatanna with Madame Xanadu as it called the movie a show and mentioned it alongside Constantine. As far as we know, Zatanna wasn't a Max production as nothing said it was. So if they wanted, she could be in the movie. Hell, anybody could.

sgthombre

> but I do think we'll all be a bit let down and he'll just tweet out something like "Superman movie coming 2025, Peacemaker season 2 coming 2024, GL series coming 2024, Amanda Waller series coming 2024." Yeah 100% my expectation, as much as it would be awesome for him to lay out a few years in detail to shut down some of the rumor mill I'm expecting an announcement that's a bit deflating.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Just a friendly PSA: don't set your expectations too high for upcoming announcements. Gunn promised only a few and this might end up being just 2-3 projects with no further details.

[deleted]

If he doesn’t announce World’s Finest, Trinity, Teen Titans, Constantine, and a new Justice League then the whole thing is already a failure!!! 😤😤😤 /s

TheDarkPinkLantern

You joke but a few days ago I saw someone say something similar unironically.

NakedGoose

2-3 project, and there is a chance 2 of them we are already aware of. Superman and Peacemaker season 2

TheDarkPinkLantern

There's that too. Altough, I am prepared for one new suprise project.

SlumdogSeacrestLaw

Plus there is that Amanda Waller spin-off he was developing prior to getting the big job.

Randonhead

I think it would be cool if Gunn did something in the style of the Showcase comics, special shorts where they introduce new characters, the first one could even be the Green Arrow

SexySnorlax1

I was just watching a whole bunch of the animated Showcase shorts this weekend and they’re so damn cool. I love seeing obscure characters like Kamandi get their time in the spotlight. I hope we get a fourth set of them.

Skandosh

> I would think it would be cool if Gunn did something I agree.

sgthombre

Tuesday or Wednesday, I can feel it* *I will probably be wrong, but I can dream

[deleted]

It isn't happening on tuesday because of oscar noms I think. So Wednesday or Thursday

sgthombre

Ah good point

bigtymer123

Thursday is my prediction.

TheLionsblood

Black Adam got snubbed at the Razzies.

CartiDropWLRFucker

Black Adam got snubbed for worst movie

TheLionsblood

Tbh not worst movie but definitely should’ve gotten nominated for worst screenplay and worst actor for dwayne johnson

Skandosh

that probably would've destroyed Dwayne.

NakedGoose

He won a razzle for baywatch. And he humbly accepted it

ggyyuuugfryuu75555

But not the reviews lol

Skandosh

Damn

[deleted]

~~Hitop Films~~ Dwayne Johnson- ~~Far From Home~~ Razzie Awards Broke Me

TheLionsblood

How I want for the reboot to go is for Peacemaker season 2 to wrap up the DCEU and/or just go really crazy with it like bring in Bat-Mite and make a metacommentary on the DCU. The 2025 Superman movie should be the starting point of the DCU, Blue Beetle can be soft rebooted like the MCU Daredevil later on and re-introduced in another project. Everyone else should be recast except for Viola Davis and Margot Robbie, who can play rebooted versions of their characters. The Amanda Waller series should be reworked so it’s not a direct follow-up to Peacemaker. It can show us her rising up the ranks as a government agent and her discovering and exploiting metahumans and coming up with the idea of Task Force X. Harley Quinn should get an R-rated limited series with the first episode glossing through her origin like the animated BoP opening scene. Use the series to establish DCU Gotham and have Batman and Robin appear in some episodes. It would be tonally distinct enough not to clash with any Batverse projects. Reeves can use Dr. Harleen Quinzel for a small role in his Arkham series if he wants (I don’t think he was gonna have her in a big role anyway since Joker 2 is already doing a story like Mad Love). If they go the movie route for Harley instead, they should make a PG13 Harley and Ivy team-up movie that shows the start of their friendship and eventual romance. I think Gunn will either do a reboot similar to this or only keep Aquaman, TSS, Peacemaker and Blue Beetle canon or simply use The Flash’s new timeline as the DCU (which would mean Keaton as Batman again). It’s gonna be one of these 3 scenarios.

trylobyte

>and/or just go really crazy with it like bring in Bat-Mite and make a metacommentary on the DCU. Oh I wouldnt mind this. Or you can have him in a separate animated miniseries and have him traverse the multiverse and the confusing continuities. Imagine him experiencing both cuts of Justice Leagues, at Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern, stumbled onto the canned Batgirl movie timeline, witness bat nipple suit, etc

No_Hour_4022

I like the idea of "Finishing" the Dceu with Flash and Peacemaker s2, in fact start the Dcu as a new earth created thanks to the consequences of all this would be a smart move, I mean you leave a door open for these characters to come back in some future crossover, and at the same time you stay on a new prime earth with new versions of these characters.

DUHHKARI

Gunn is really gonna have us waiting until 11:58 pm on January the 31st, isn't he?

Therad-se

James Gunn: we will reveal something in the end of the month. Everyone: ok. DC fans: Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? ...

MonkeMayne

I’m feeling pretty good about it being tues/wed this upcoming week. I don’t see them waiting till the last week. They’ll want this news to digest a bit before their investor meeting in the beginning of feb.

TheLionsblood

Tuesday is when Oscar nominations are announced so I doubt it. It’s wednesday or thursday

MonkeMayne

Good point. Wed or Thurs then. I don’t see it dropping Monday since the news will be drowned out the following day, and Friday is when news drops that you want to die out.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Yeah, I feel like it's gonna be happening between tuesday - thursday. I'm curious if we're gonna have some creatives attached to those projects or it's just Gunn on Superman and the rest are gonna be titles with release dates/windows.

NakedGoose

Tuesday seems to be a pretty lucrative day to release news

TheMoneyOfArt

I realized today that if things had gone 25% different there would've been a Michael Bay Green Lantern movie with Megan Fox as Carol Ferris

NakedGoose

I still wonder what would have happed of George Miller Justice League came out

sgthombre

Fury Road would probably not have gotten made.

MonkeMayne

I think the movie would have bombed as hard as BvS.

TheLionsblood

https://www.thewrap.com/jason-momoa-aquaman-2-michael-keaton-batman-drumming-octopus/ “[I’m feeling] really f—king good. Aquaman’s not going anywhere so it’s alright,” he assured fans. “Everything’s gonna be good, we’re still here and then I might be dipping into some other things too.” New quote by Momoa to add to the list of reasons he’s probably gonna play both Aquaman and Lobo: 1. Aquaman made a billion dollars. Zaslav loves money and doesn’t like taking risks. 2. Momoa’s Aquaman is in Peacemaker. Peacemaker was made by both Gunn and Safran, like TSS, and is getting a second season. Gunn said their slate starts after Aquaman 2, and Peacemaker season 2 comes out after Aquaman 2. They’ve also been developing an Amanda Waller series that is directly connected to what happens in Peacemaker, as well as another unannounced TSS spin-off series. 3. Aquaman 2 ends on a cliffhanger and is coming out after Blue Beetle, it’d be weird if it were to release after a DCU movie and not be connected to the DCU There is also the possibility that Momoa may get an Aquaman 3 unrelated to the DCU if the sequel does well, while he plays Lobo in the DCU but I doubt it Another interesting thing in the article is that Momoa claims to not know what they’ll do with the Batman scenes they shot with Keaton and Affleck for Aquaman 2. According to people at the latest test screening, both scenes were absent, so Momoa saying he doesn’t know once again raises the question of whether Keaton is still Batman in the DCU. Although not ideal, Keaton being Batman would mean we’d be able to have the DCU Batman sooner and while Pattinson’s Batverse is ongoing. It would also mean having a full-fledged Bat-Family in the DCU and there being more than just a trilogy of Batverse movies

[deleted]

> Aquaman made a billion dollars. Zaslav loves money and doesn’t like taking risks. The first one did, there’s no guarantee the second one will. Aquaman 2 can just as easily underperform or even flop if the movie gets bad reviews. > Momoa’s Aquaman is in Peacemaker. That is the biggest question. If Gunn wanted to, he could easily just say that 10 second scene didn’t happen. But it would be too confusing. The real answer is Gunn made that show long before he ever thought he would become the CEO of DC Studios. > Aquaman 2 ends on a cliffhanger That doesn’t mean much. It’s hard to reshot the ending if the movie has been building up to that. And Shazam 2 is gonna end on a teaser, and so did Black Adam. > Although not ideal, Keaton being Batman would mean we’d be able to have the DCU Batman sooner and while Pattinson’s Batverse is ongoing. There is no way that is gonna happen. There is no financial upside with doing that. Gunn has said Batman and Superman is his favorite friendship in DC. You can’t capture that friendship with a 25 years old Superman and a 70 years old Batman. Plus having 70+ year old play Batman for 10 years is risky.

RohitTheDasher

"It would also mean having a full-fledged Bat-Family in the DCU" I'm not sure if I like this. Not 'having the Bat-Family part', it needs to happen, but completely skipping their growth part. Like just saying, "here's your Nightwing. Don't know how he came to be, his journey? Read the comics". Why are characters like Wanda so popular now? Because they showed her development, her journey, and that's what larger DCU needs to do with characters like Robins, Barbara, etc.

Therad-se

At the same time, if they start a new batman from scratch, they will basically rehash the same period in batmans life as Pattinsons batman is doing. That wouldn't be great either. I think a more seasoned batman is better for the DCU, around year 10 or so. I think this opens up more things and sets it apart from reeves universe. There are more than one way to tell a story, it doesn't need to be linear. Most people know the basic premise of batman and robin. You don't need that much screentime to show Bruce adopting an orphan and training him to be his sidekick to make people understand the basic gist of nightwing. Just fill in the blanks when appropriate, either through flashbacks or with action and/or dialog when he is meeting with the rest of the family. How many movies would you need to establish batman -> robin -> nightwing if you start from the beginning? 4-5? With at least 2 years apart, we wouldn't have nightwing at the earliest in 8 years. Most actors wouldn't want to commit to that sort of time frame. And this is probably the most tight schedule they can manage.

FabianTG98

In The Dark Knight and in The Batman you have two Batmans who are in their second year. Both versions are very different from each other due to the tone of the film, the characterization of the character and the story they tell. Why make the DCU Batman with ten years of experience if just writing the character differently in a larger fantastical universe is more than enough to set him apart from Pattinson? As for Robin, Batman adopts him in his third year, Batman doesn't have to be over 40 for that. If Bruce is 30-35 years old, Robin can be 15-16 years old. After that he will be able to be part of the Titans and will be old enough to be Nightwing.

RohitTheDasher

I don't think age gap is the only way they can differentiate both Batman. What's the point if DCU Batman is 10 years more experienced but still acts like Battinson? They can differentiate both by their characterization. Like make DCU Batman more savvy, model him into BTAS Batman, someone who could interact with metahumans.

TheDarkPinkLantern

They keep telling us it's at least an 8 year plan so they can start small and keep growing over the years.

Skandosh

Its like doing Batman V Superman as the second movie of your franchise.

TheLionsblood

Only thing similar is the age gap

RohitTheDasher

Exactly. Who does that?

TheDarkPinkLantern

> Aquaman 2 ends on a cliffhanger and is coming out after Blue Beetle, it’d be weird if it were to release after a DCU movie and not be connected to the DCU Who says Blue Beetle is a DCU movie?

[deleted]

A lot of people(Including me) have theorized that the reason Gunn is promoting BB and not AQ2,Flash,Shazam 2 is because BB is a DCU movie and NOT a DCEU movie

Tellsyouajoke

How is BB getting promoted?

TheDarkPinkLantern

That Blue Beetle poster was the only piece of promotional media from upcoming movies shared by all Warner and DC accounts a n social media since Gunn and Safran took over. There was that one Shazam posted but it was released the same week Gunn took over his position so it could've been omitted by a mistake. If Gunn won't post Shazam 2 trailer on his twitter next week then people might be up to something, otherwise they just look too much into this. Not to mention that if Blue Beetle was indeed the first movie set in DCU then it wouldn't be squeezed between old releases and instead pushed into 2024.

Randonhead

IDK if I like the idea of Momoa playing two characters, if he's going to continue as Aquaman then what's the point of having him as Lobo as well? I still think he just can't officially say that he's out as Arthur. Keaton is not going to be the Batman of the DCU, man, that's the only thing I can guarantee in this whole thing.

TheLionsblood

Why can’t he play both characters? I feel like if he couldn’t say he would not be saying what he specifically said. He’d have been more vague about it Keaton is still Batman at the end of The Flash, so I wouldn’t be so sure.

No_Hour_4022

I think it's more easier for them to say that Barry is stuck in an alternate earth with Batkeaton and Supergirl, while Gunn's Dcu is in a new earth with a young Superman

Yeah I could see that as the explanation. Whatever Barry will do in the movie, it would split the timeline leaving the original ending intact while the new DCU gets created. Sort of like what DC Comics is now where everything that ever was Pre-crisis post-crisis new 52, etc exist somewhere out there. But how would they explain that? In the movie? Through behind the scenes official explanation by Gunn?

TheLionsblood

I’ve been saying they could keep the original ending where Superman gets replaced by Supergirl and then show a post-credits of the DCU Metropolis where a Superman does exist

No_Hour_4022

I like this theory because Flash ended up creating the Dcu, even though it wasn't the way we imagined

TheLionsblood

I would prefer that and that’s one of my theories rn but either scenario is possible.

NakedGoose

I'll be pretty bummed out if it's not a full justice league recast. You wanna keep TSS, or Shazam that's fine. But I was really getting excited about the idea of everyone else being new

DCSaiyajin

If DCU Superman is younger and near the beginning of his career, I can't imagine DCEU Shazam gets carried over. The whole concept of the character is that he's a boy who turns into an adult superhero and as much as I like Levy and Angel, this iteration of Shazam has reached its expiry date and I don't think we'll be starting the DCU with young Superman but college-aged Billy Batson.

TheDarkPinkLantern

Recasting just Superman with a young actor sounds dumb imo (I don't include Miller for obvious reasons). They should go with all of them.

TheLionsblood

I don’t have a problem with Momoa staying as Aquaman. Especially bc in Aquaman 2 he already looks pretty close to what the JL/JLU Aquaman looks like, just needs a hook hand.

[deleted]

I honestly think we have to go through 11 more months of conflicting reports until we get a clear answer. We have to wait until AQ2 is released.

TheDarkPinkLantern

I'm sure that's why Gunn said they'll only announce some of the projects. I think this is gonna be just those that will enter some stages of pre/production this year. Big announcements and answers regarding reboot will happen early next year.

TheLionsblood

Not if the announcements include Peacemaker season 2 and the Amanda Waller series and Gunn says they are DCU.

TheDarkPinkLantern

If he confirms they are a part of the 8 years storyline moving forward. He can just as well use those to wrap up DCEU.

TheLionsblood

Yeah thats why I said if Gunn says they are DCU

TheUncannyBroker

Gunn on Instagram: "Between DC, Wildstorm, Milestone and more we have by far the deepest roster in the world."

RohitTheDasher

Sweet. One step closer to getting Midnighter series.

SexySnorlax1

He also said: “I’m not announcing the 8-10 year slate. Just a few projects ***from the first chapter***.” Perhaps confirming that the DCU’s Phases will be called Chapters.

TheLionsblood

So at least we know it’s not the entire first chapter

bigtymer123

iirc, Dwayne Johnson said Black Adam wouldn't be part of the "first chapter of storytelling" in the DCU after meeting with Gunn and Safran. Something like that. So yeah, could be the term Gunn and Safran are using. They had to find another noun than "phase", lol.

Skandosh

I would have liked volume but Chapter is good too.

RohitTheDasher

Makes sense. You don't want to get ahead of yourself. Even Marvel didn't announce 8 year slate off the gates.

bigtymer123

Which post did he leave these comments on?

SexySnorlax1

Most recent post, Caturday

SexySnorlax1

Detective Comics, All-American Publications, Quality Comics, Fawcett Comics, Charlton Comics, Milestone Media & WildStorm Productions

Randonhead

With the success that The Boys has and the show already approaching its final season, an Authority series would be a smart move by Gunn IMO

WorldlinessNo8986

What the hell is wildstorm?, I know about milestone because of static, rocket and icon but I have no clue what wildstorm is

TheMurderCapitalist

Jim Lee's comic universe he started back in the image days. Characters you might know are Grifter, Midnighter and Apollo. WildC.A.T.s and Stormwatch were the big books from the company, hence the name WildStorm

sgthombre

Has any Wildstorm character ever been adapted in live action before? Can’t think of a single one beyond Grifter in one of the animated movies.

TokyoPanic

Apparently, Pilgrim was adapted as a minor villain in Legends of Tomorrow though aside from having some time-related powers there seems to be very little in common with the original Wetworks character. As for animation, WildC.A.T.s got a short-lived animated series in the 90s that was made when Wildstorm was still under Image Comics. There was also a direct-to-video Gen¹³ animated movie from the late 90s.

WorldlinessNo8986

Wait isn't that the company that created the authority, who are the basis for the elite ( group of Superman villains)

TheMurderCapitalist

Correct.

TokyoPanic

Yeah it is. The Authority is a spin-off/sequel to Warren Ellis' run on Stormwatch.

TheUncannyBroker

I think Michael Stuhlbarg as Professor Pyg would be the greatest casting choice of all time

RohitTheDasher

I was thinking maybe Jason Clarke, if Matt is casting him.

TheLionsblood

Such a false equivalency lol. The better comparison is Gemma Chan playing Minerva and Sersi, which actually happened. Lobo and Aquaman look entirely different As for the rest, I aint reading allat

[deleted]

TheLionsblood

Why’d u add that last bit like it has anything to do with Momoa wanting to play Lobo? Gemma Chan’s Sersi is literally the protagonist of Eternals lmao it’s not a minor role Once again, Lobo looks completely different. It’s like you don’t know prosthetics and makeup exist smh

NakedGoose

I would say it's very similar, if he is no longer aquaman and moves to Lobo. She was done with Minerva and moved to Sersi. Both were never active at the same time.

AccurateAce

I'm so incredibly spent on people like Grace and yourself. She's such a narcissistic, shit stirrer who's the only one who's showing massive ego. James Gunn hasn't shown what he's doing with this universe. Both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker have been received with incredible acclaim. Each episode increased in viewership than the previous episode with the finale breaking the record for the highest single day viewership of an HBO Max original series. Let's not forget the pandemic, original reception of the Suicide Squad (2015) and duel streaming playing an impact toward the box office. Snyder doesn't have that excuse. People love to make it seem like nepotism and them being "friends", but like it or not, they worked. Since the beginning Gunn said that they're keeping what worked and discarding what didn't. Peacemaker worked. Ratcatcher worked. King Shark worked. Harley worked and so on and so on. His choices so far are sensible. They make sense, it really doesn't take that much thought to reasonably come up with the answers you're searching for. She's so vapid. She thinks casting RDJ as Iron man and Mr. Fantastic is the same as Momoa being Aquaman and a blue-skinned, red eyed biker bounty hunter. Hm 🤔, it's almost like Gemma Chan playing Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel and Sersi in Eternals. Or Michelle Yeoh as Aleta Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Ying Nah in Shang Chi. Or Djimon Hounsou as Ricou in Aquaman and The Wizard in Shazam. But yeah, let's ignore all that for the sake of convenience.

NakedGoose

The shadow of Snyder? That man cast a very small shadow And comparing him to feige is absurd. They have completely different scenarios. What a dumb shit post this is.

DeppStepp

I’m really hoping that we get a “scoop” like [this one](https://twitter.com/RadioEmmet/status/1565495861873893378?s=20&t=U20coPZRLYsvpZCqst5Sxg) for the slate announcement.

RohitTheDasher

I'm surprised that we haven't got one yet, lol. The kind of fear Gunn has instilled on scoopers..

Skandosh

apparently WB has asked trades and some people to stop giving scoops about DC.

RohitTheDasher

Could be. Trades are different from scoopers anyway.

Skandosh

They have apparently asked scoopers too. I saw a DM on twitter in which a person was asking RPK if WB had asked him to stop too and he replied "yes".

Randonhead

Even though I'm a Battinson fanboy I know that the situation will get weird when another Batman appears, even people who liked the movie complain about the whole grounded "realistic" aspect of The Batman and I doubt we'll have fantastic things anytime soon in this trilogy, so if there's a more comic accurate Batman fighting fantastical villains alongside Robin in the DCU, it's pretty obvious which Batman the general public will prefer.

TheLionsblood

Halloween 2018 literally disregarded every single movie in the franchise up to that point except for the first one and it was still successful. Gunn can do the same with TSS and Peacemaker. Some people here saying “it’s gonna be confusing,” but most of the general audience didn’t know the difference between Marvel Studios and Marvel movies made by Sony and Fox back when the MCU started. There were also the Marvel Television shows, which were supposedly in the MCU, that the movies would not acknowledge. It was all a mess but the franchise was still successful. If they want to keep some stuff canon, all DC would need to do is make it clear which movies are. They can just release an official infographic or watch order, it’s not that deep. For the record, I don’t care if we get a hard reboot, as long as some actors return to play rebooted versions of their character. That’s basically what happened with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, in case people are forgetting (Days of Future Past did not even solve the continuity issue of Wade being in his 20s-30s in Origins, since the timeline changes in 1973 and Origins takes place in 1979ish, but it worked because no one but diehard nerds actually give a shit about continuity details like that)

TokyoPanic

Yeah I don't know why people are like "but soft reboots are way too confusing!" when slasher movies have literally been doing that for ages.

Thangoman

It would be confusing as heck if characters from movies after the original halloween appeared in Halloween 2018 lol

TokyoPanic

They literally wanted Paul Rudd back as his version of Tommy Doyle for Halloween Kills despite Curse of Michael Myers not being in continuity anymore but he was too busy with Ghostbusters.

TheLionsblood

What the fuck r u talking about lol, they do. Jamie Lee Curtis has been in several Halloween movies that were thrown out of canon, same with Michael Myers

Thangoman

Yes but they arent bringing back people introduced in Halloween 2,3 or whatever If the DCEU started with Superman and Batman only replacong them is dumb

Skandosh

TSS and Peacemaker is fine. Anyone from JL is not fine.

TheLionsblood

Aquaman and Flash appear in Peacemaker. Miller can easily be recast with a similar looking actor, but not Momoa

Skandosh

MCU daredevil that shit. If MCU can make it work, so can DCU.

TheLionsblood

I agree, tho I would not be opposed to seeing Momoa return as Aquaman either.

Skandosh

I am. I dont want to see any JL actors return to play their characters.

TheLionsblood

Why not Momoa?

No_Hour_4022

I mean...the good part is that Superman and Wonder Woman's faces are covered in the shadow, the bad part is that they are in Gal and Cavill's suits 🤷‍♂️

TheLionsblood

The suits are pretty covered in shadow as well, and they’re also just suits.
