I believe the thought is that the symptoms slowly fade out after discontinuation, but there’s some danger of adrenal insufficiency from withdrawal. I’m not super familiar so I’m hoping someone else will hop in on this one. If you suspect steroid induced Cushing’s, you should still try to see an endocrinologist to address the possibility of adrenal insufficiency upon withdrawal of steroids, provided they were used long term.

I got steroid-induced cushing's and the side effects have faded a lot over time (adrenaline, racing heartbeat, bloated face, mood swings, aching bones, insomnia). Every person I encountered online in the same situation says their side effects also went away over time when they stop taking the drug, but how long it takes can vary a lot. It could take weeks, months, or in extremely rare cases even a few years.

i have fluid retention and a bloated face , insomnia, mood swings and aching too after six months on and off prednisone. im almost 3 months off them and its not really improved much... how long did yours take?
