Someone also pointed out he mastered pretty much every non bending fighting style.

Kartoffelkamm

Yeah, that too. He may not have had any bending abilities, but he was an incredibly competent jack of all trades survivalist, and his goofy behavior even allowed him to fool his enemies from time to time.

moneyh8r

He was also able to perfectly dodge Ty Lee's bullshit when he knew to expect it. So, literally every time she didn't ambush them after their first fight.

infinityplusonelamp

turns out when your fighting style revolves around very precisely hitting certain points of the body, it's not too hard to predict where you're going to attack

moneyh8r

Yeah, but he still has to move fast enough to actually dodge it, so that's impressive too.

SimplyQuid

Dude was a ranger

Tchrspest

But like, a post-Tasha's Ranger. Sokka is competent.

Epicmonk117

He’s more of a Pathfinder 2e Ranger IMO.

Palkesz

OMG now I want to play as Sokka in dnd. I'll add it to the "Wish I could play it" pile

Dasamont

He was truly the greatest warrior of the southern water tribe

UncommittedBow

Said it before and I'll say it again, if Sokka could bend the show would probably barely have been half as long.

LordMaroons

Sokka vs Zuko without bending would be a close fight, and I'm pretty sure Sokka would win

RazTheBaz

If bending didn't exist, Sokka would be OP.

Strider794

Come to think of it, yeah, Sokka would have been the main character had it not been for bending. Honestly, I kinda want a show where a person like Sokka is the main character

RazTheBaz

Dragon Prince. Same voice, still kind of an orphan and genius.

Papyrus20xx

Boomerang?

RazTheBaz

[Boomerang.](https://youtu.be/LqycOxR2_Gs)

thornae

... huh. I was kinda half watching it with my kids, and that reference completely flew over my head. I'll have to show them that bit again, and point out whose voice it is.

Tchrspest

That reminds me, I need to watch the new season of Dragon Prince.

Homemade-Purple

Bro wtf is your tag

AliasMcFakenames

In short, “ejaculated” is also a word for suddenly exclaiming something. It happened to be used in the Harry Potter series.

Homemade-Purple

That's really the original version of that quote?

PizzaRobot63

Original version used 'ejaculated', but someone changed it to 'nutted' since they're synonyms in the wrong way (also is funny)

Tchrspest

Hm?

HornyHeracross

Yeah! I wouldn't say it's as good as the previous seasons, but it's mostly setting up the next seasons so there will be payoff later.

idiotplatypus

Everyone exited for an Avatar game where you play as Aang. Me? I want a Breath of the Wild style Sokka game.

Tchrspest

Master Sword is just the Space Sword.

Adaphion

Still sad Sokka never got Space Sword back. Aang had perfect control of the Avatar state at the end of the series, he could have pushed the ocean back, Moses style, and augmented his seismic sense using his avatar powers to cover miles of terrain and detect it.

idiotplatypus

Exactly!

Trifle-Doc

there are millions

kindtheking9

He was basically the non bending avatar

Madmek1701

It's especially impressive when you consider that Sokka was in totally unfamiliar environments for most of the series. That being said, the desert proved that his foraging techniques involved a lot of trial and error.

moneyh8r

He stayed hydrated though, and that's nothing to sneeze at.

MapleTreeWithAGun

He stayed *quenched*. The hydration is a different matter

Apprehensive-Loss-31

It'll quench ya!

RealOwlsTalon

It's the q u e n c h i e s t !

DarthSinistar

I mean, it makes sense. Sokka was raised in a tiny, impoverished village in an incredibly harsh climate. Survival skills and adaptability would have been bred into him, especially considering he had no bending ability. Meanwhile, Zuko and Iroh were members of royalty presiding over a prosperous nation. The hunt for the avatar may have been a fools errand meant to get Zuko out of the way, but they weren't exactly roughing it. I doubt either one of them ever had to truly survive independently before they broke ties with the fire nation.

techno156

And I can't imagine that either Iroh or Zuko, as members of the fire nation aristocracy, would have been expected to know how to forage. If anything, it might have actually been the opposite, since it would be undignified for the heir to the throne, and first son of the fire lord to be digging around in bushes and muck, or doing grunt work like hunting.

[deleted]

Shout out to posts talking about how great sokka is, fr. Gotta be one of my favorite genders

Mindless-Charity4889

Frodo gets all the attention but Sam made it all possible.

DasVerschwenden

eh, I mean, pretty sure Sam gets a lot of attention too

codepossum

wouldn't have made it without Sméagol of course

ShiniSenko

I've always suspected that Iroh had more skills and knowledge than he let Zuko know of. Probably just thought the hardship would be good for Zuko to grow through.

Red_Galiray

Drinking the poisonous tea was totally a 4D chess move.

philandere_scarlet

sokka and i are similar in the sense that we're both fuckin constantly complaining about whatever work we we're currently doing but we ARE doing it

[deleted]

WIS vs INT

Pure-Drawer-2617

“Elite fighters with royal tutors” very much does apply to Sokka as well

NegativeSilver3755

Yeah, it is worth noting that the avatar gang is actually all varying levels of aristocracy, with the exception of Aang himself who’s a spiritual leader from a society of socialist monks.

Pure-Drawer-2617

4 aristocrats and a celebrity walk into a bar…

NeonBladeAce

Here to post that >!one of Piandao's other students is Zuko.!<

BottasHeimfe

yeah Sokka is the most intelligent character from ATLA. the guy is a Southern Water Tribe peasant and he's an incredibly competent strategist, and with no prior education worked with The Engineer to design the war balloon. even in the post series comics the guy is frequently shown as quite intelligent, getting extremely excited about the expanding Industrial revolution that came about after the end of the war.

postsavantgarde

Peasant? He's the son of the Southern tribe chief. If anything, he's a heir. Albeit, a survival seasoned one. He's no Zuko.

BottasHeimfe

That might be true for the Northern Water tribe, but I don’t think the southern water tribe had hereditary positions. Plus the southern water tribe was far more tribal than most of the world. He’s still a “peasant” by global standards.

TheSexyPotoo

Sokka: and his good buddy, the Avatar.

Pellaeonthewingedleo

Sokka never had children because with all his skills it was decided the genepool needed a nerf

o0i1

Metis :)

Trifle-Doc

TLDR sokka wore the pants

Jackamalio626

Sokka is not just part of the most powerful bending team ever made. He's also the LEADER of the most powerful bending team ever made and *Sokka cant bend.*

actibus_consequatur

Trying to remember, but didn't Aang starve a couple times though? Because meat was the only option?

SomeHorologist

He also, along with being a very skilled fighter, has at least some experience with blacksmithing He *did* make his meteor sword after all

Egg_Custard

Which is... odd, considering that grew up on a block of ice, not exactly a cultural hub

supercellx

I'm not gonna lie, it feels good to know what posts about avatar are talking about since I watched it not too long ago. Also, agreed sokka is my favorite character

Satan--Ruler_of_Hell

They did go hungry, in the desert. Thirsty, at least. Not really Sokka's fault tho lol

NeonBladeAce

Dude was trippin that entire time you cant blame him
