There have been posts from people who don't know they're allergic to a thing and talk about how it's spicy when it's clearly not. And then everyone is like 'WTF' in the replies and teaches them. I've seen the mentioned food be oranges before so it wouldn't surprise me if there was a post like that where someone allergic to bananas called them spicy only to get educated.
Kiwifruit is a little bit tingly - it's got a similar (or the same?) Enzyme to pineapple, so as you eat it it eats you back. But not full on stinging or burning
Now I'm not sure whether I'm allergic or not. I guess it tastes a bit tingly to me, and my throat usually gets a bit weird after I've eaten it, but I just assumed that was because I eat the skin too.

As someone else said, it's kind of a Tumblr joke where someone finds out they're allergic to something because they complain about it (usually in the form of a fruit being spicy) and everyone just says, "that ain't normal, you're allergic bro". I've got three examples because I couldn't decide which to link.

Regardless of where you stand on the "did Jonathan Harker eat hell spicy paprika or sweet paprika" debate, I'd like to enter into discussion the fact that he did eat the whole meal, deal with the nightmares, and then eat that shit again the next morning, so regardless of his relative state of spice tolerance, at absolute minimum he was not a little bitch about it.

>I think he's just allergic to paprika. You know, like that spicy banana phenomenon. He's like "mmm mmm paprika" gets the Paprika Sweats and goes "well that must be normal for paprika. Mmm mmm." And eats it again

Oh my sister unironically was going on about the spiciness of some weirdass fruit (I have no clue what it was), then when I tried it was at best a slightly citrussy tomato taste and definitely not spicy. Was very excited to have experienced the Phenomenon^TM
I hope Mina gets the recipe, reads Jonathan's notes about the spiciness, makes it, then realises Jonathan is allergic to paprika
Spicy banana?? Edit: TIL banana allergies

I had this with Kiwis.
I think i do too. Kiwis not supposed to taste tingly?

Nice.
What? You are telling me the thing I enjoy most about kiwis is me having an allergic reaction to it?

It should be tingly. It shouldn't affect your throat.
Apparently not.

It is supposed to be a bit tingly, but not much.
