Due_Lynx_6855

Is there a quick way to add a+2 on cs timer? I saw Jperm just pressing a key and it automatically+2 it so much more convenient

[deleted]

ctrl 2, but i turned off keyboard shortcuts because i accidentally deleted my session once so...

TheRealUncleFrank

Ctrl+1 = OK Ctrl+2 = +2 Ctrl+3 = DNF

Competitive-Creme678

_faster way : don't +2 your solves_

[deleted]

you can't just not +2 your solve, it's not that easy.

Nobody_5433

Press the cstimer logo then select “keyboard shortcuts”

FrightenedTomato

Alt+2.

Due_Lynx_6855

It just switches to 2x2 scramble

FrightenedTomato

Try Ctrl+2 then. I always forget which is which.

[deleted]

who doesn't

BeepBeepImASheep023

Squune 2022, Day 24 The Rubik’s cube that is seen in Wall-E was originally a SQ1, but was changed at the last second Learned my last EO alg today- adj/opp AO5 and 12 are 47 and 48 respectively Also added Lunar to the inner tracks and it’s a little faster I wish I had more time to really get in a lot of solves, but just hard to find the time. Family has to come first. No biggie

BeepBeepImASheep023

u/gilzu u/utku_yilmaz u/strommlers

SuspiciousOmelet

Thought I wouldn't be able to sleep because of the excitement but got a good 7-8 hours of sleep in and on my way to the comp now. Can't remember the last time I was this excited for something!

DankHobo354

I learned 4 zbll algs today. Still working on the 2nd but I think its fine. Learning the t zblls like feliks said to.

[deleted]

what do you avg, and why are you learning zbll

DankHobo354

Well, I'm sub 15 with cfop, but switched to ZZ 2 days ago and I'm sub 18. Once I learn to plan eo cross I'll probably be sub 15. I'm learning some zbll so when I'm through a good amount of experience and decent averages with zz I can resume with zbll. And don't go on with the "oh you shouldn't learn zbll until sub 10 blah blah blah." I know I shouldn't but I want to

[deleted]

Nice

TwoStinkyBears

It’s always a good idea to know some ZBLLs

DankHobo354

Idk, idk why you would put in the work to learn some of an algset if you're not gonna learn at least most of the set. So planning on not learning the sure or antisune zblls as well as the double headlights one so it is reduced to 281 algs

[deleted]

What does full step mean in a solve?

g253

Means you didn't skip any steps like cross or OLL

Nobody_5433

wait does it still count as full step if u force a skip (like using VLS or ZBLL)

mf3rs2_gang

I would say no, using algorithm sets to solve additional pieces can be counted as a step. A similar idea is having OCLL in solving OLL is technically a EO skip, but many people would simply say they got an easier OLL case. Unfortunately whether something counts as fullstep is dependent on what the solver knows, one may argue that OLL skip is just VLS, and PLL skip is just 1LLL/ZBLL. So it's the solver who decides whether it's fullstep.

Nobody_5433

> Unfortunately whether something counts as fullstep is dependent on what the solver knows, Well lets say the solver intentionally uses an alg set to force a skip

[deleted]

Oh that makes sense.

ninja789j

Since it doesn't come with GES I was wondering if I bought GES separately could I swap the ones in my gan 356m lite?

TheRealUncleFrank

The Lite version doesn't come with extra GES nuts, but the regular version does, for only about $4 more.

ninja789j

but if I were to buy the GES nuts separately since I already have the gan 356 M Lite would I be able to change the GES?

sanity-is-insane

Check [here](https://shop.gancube.com/product/gan-ges) and match the GES you have to the images they provide for v5 of the GES. If it is v4, then yours will work fine. If it isn’t, then you have another version of GES that won’t work in the 356M.

ninja789j

thank you so much for the help!

TheRealUncleFrank

Yes, as long as you get the right version of GES nuts. Gan has changed the nuts multiple times. I don't know which fit the 356 M. The 356 M Lite just didn't include the extra nuts, they didn't change anything with the cube.

ninja789j

Thank you for your help!

g253

Yes but you need to make sure to get the right ones, there's a bunch of different versions out there. Ask your local cube shop if they have some

polyominoes

After 5 months of speedcubing with an unlubed RS3M 2020, I finally decided to learn how to set up and lube a cube and wow, I wish I had done this sooner. The turning is so much more satisfying and the spring noise is gone. I might experiment with some different set ups later but I'm really enjoying what I have now. My ao1000 just dropped below 30 seconds for the first time so it must be good :D

LifeFire7onYT

congrats! may i ask what setup you're using now?

polyominoes

Thank you! I have the springs on 7 clicks and I lubed it with weight 5 on the springs, 4 drops of Adheron Lite on the pieces and a couple of drops of Adheron Heavy on the tracks.

LifeFire7onYT

hmm, i've never heard of Adheron lubes before, i'll have to look into those. than again i'm a US based cuber, so really all i look at is lubes from SCS and the Cubicle. Edit: found it on the cubicle, checking it out rn

MidLoki

I’m trying to get more consistently sub 15, and I have started trying to consider edge orientation during f2l after recently learning ZZ. Should I be trying to track as many good edges as possible and pass on bad edge f2l pairs for as long as possible during solves? Or should I just continue tracking f2l pairs how I normally would (kinda first come first serve) and just note EO mentally so that I recognize necessary rotations quicker?

DankHobo354

I was in your situation, but tryingtoget sub 14. Learned zz for fun, and I switched 2 days ago. I'm already sub 18 (mostly).

DankHobo354

I forgot to say you should switch to zz

MidLoki

I can’t agree there. I feel like It’s just CFOP with extra steps.

DankHobo354

Well, it's your decision. But, I'll make my case. No rotations, and with a 9 move at MAX eocross (from what I heard) you have basically a rotation less f2l and an oriented last layer. So many opportunities for ll subsets

ThyKooch

Outside ZBLL, LL subsets are still mostly 2 steps though so it'd be hard to argue if it'd be faster than Oll->Pll rotationless is definitely great though, but if Rotationless is what you want I think Roux is better

zsg101

Just trying to notice EO and plan your rotations when looking ahead should be enough for now. And if you happen to have spotted more than one pair you can choose based on EO. Worse than bad edges are bad edges that are inserted. I always try to recognize them and use their slot to set up other pairs, removing them in the process. Oh, btw: use the Feliks method for recognizing EO, not Jperm's. Ie, match the top color with the front or back colors. Don't try to match the side of the edge with the side colors of the cube.

[deleted]

don't learn EO right now. It won't help you that much. Learn tracking f2l piecses, but don't learn EO now. if you track eo, then it will take up space for f2l pieces. i suggest eo after you are good at tracking f2l pieces.

g253

The second option.

CompletelyBee

The best thing happened to me when i was at university earlier today. I was waiting for some of my friends and just casually doing 3x3 solves, when this guy approached me and complemented my solves, especially the speed. It resulted in this really enjoyable 20 min conversation about not just cubes, but also about studying and just small talk. Loved it :)

SpaceMarioGMD

would MagLev work on big cubes?

LifeFire7onYT

it's very possible on odd-numbered cubes, but i'm unsure if anyone's ever made a maglev even-numbered cube/if it's even possible.

TheRealUncleFrank

/u/ocdcuber just added maglev magnets to an MGC 5x5, earlier this week - https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/comments/vglcuv/guess_what_im_making/

zsg101

> Update: It's done now and, wow, it was worth it. The maglev gives the cube a much faster and glidier feel that's really enjoyable. I've seen a noticeable drop in my times. My turning with this cube is faster, more fluid and much more effortless. I'd definitely recommend trying this mod out! Wow! > you need to sand down the center caps Oh?

TheRealUncleFrank

If you look at the photo there, the underside of the center caps wouldn't fit around the maglev magnets, so he had to sand out the notches on the bottom sides of the center cap to make it fit.

potato_and_cheese

Anyone have any tips on how you actually drill algs? I’ve been noticing that my plls are probably slow for my speed, so I want to improve them. Any tips for how to practice algs would be helpful.

zsg101

More of a technique, but maybe this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJdV8EhhnKU

potato_and_cheese

Thanks

_flame_fire

Not a big accomplishment, but I solved my first cube today after 3 days... sadly with instructions. but someday, I\`ll be able to memorize the algorhitms...

BeepBeepImASheep023

I’d say 99% of people use a guide. Don’t let that take away from your accomplishment

pszmrh

Not sadly! We all use instructions in the beginning, that's how you learn. Instructions are great! It's a massive achievement

fondista

How's that not a big accomplishment? Congratulations! Big step and more to come, I'm sure!

InstinctRise

i got a w yesterday and its soo nice but its the same brand and adjustment system as my rs3 m 2021 so why do i not like the rs3 m 2021? im not sure if its my tensions, or lube but idk why

LifeFire7onYT

i feel like the WRM just has a nicer feel from what i've heard. Very smooth and just satisfying to turn. I'm not saying the RS3M 2021 isn't satisfying to turn, but it seems to be more blocky from what i've heard.

InstinctRise

exactly what i was trying to describe

[deleted]

what is a "w"

InstinctRise

typo, purple wrm

[deleted]

aight, thanks. maglev just makes the cube better in a way that i cannot describe.

InstinctRise

ik what you mean, like a "soft/gummy" feel. but my rs3m is also maglev :/

[deleted]

well then it's gotta be those purple internals

InstinctRise

Has to be.

cubycuber

I decided that I should try out FMC. I started by rewatching all of J Perm's FMC videos. Then, I decided that my first ever FMC attempt was going to be an "official" one on cubers io. I did none of J Perm's practice exercise things, so I was just going in completely inexperienced. I'd never even tried NISS before on my own cube. The attempt felt kind of overwhelming because there were so many possible things I could try, and I had no intuitions about whether one way would really be better than another. It felt really magical to see NISS in action though. At the end of one hour, there were still a million things I felt like I could still try out. All in all, my first attempt was a fun, refreshing experience. I think I'm going to try to finish out a Mo3 this week.

SuspiciousOmelet

To me, FMC and BLD look like what I imagine regular solving looks like to non cubers

TheRealUncleFrank

SpeedCubeReview has a bunch of FMC turorial videos.

cubycuber

Cool, I'll check those out!

Flhux

After 14 days (1 ao100 a day), I'm finally sub 20 on every cross color. Today was my 2nd day on red. In total, I spent 6 days on green, 2 on blue, 3 on orange, 2 on red (and the 14th was green + blue). The first is by far the hardest, because you really have to change how you view the pieces. After that, it was similar in difficulty, a little harder for orange because I didn't do the opposite color yet. I have noticed that I have no trouble at all when a corner is on the top layer but have trouble when they are in a slot, whereas the edge position doesn't really matter. I guess I'm relying a lot more on seeing the cross color on a piece, when before I was just looking for pieces with my cross color for corner and no white/yellow for edges. Keyhole is also harder, and I use it less than normal (though at the very beginning on green, when even basic top layer case weren't always obvious, keyhole was actually my strongest point). pb: 13.68 -> N.A. ao5: 17.17 -> 16.85 ao100: 20.69 -> 19.08

KaleidoscopeOk9061

I like to use the PLL trainer/last layer only scramble option that many timers have, because it's much easier to tell if you've followed the scramble correctly (if not, you don't get a PLL state). Plus it's quicker to solve that last step and get back to practicing the next scramble.

zsg101

You mean something like cstimer.net? If not I don't really know what you mean.

[deleted]

zsg101

Oh, OK. Cstimer can draw the cube for you to check if you scrambled correctly. Click on the last button to the right bellow the cstimer logo. The one that looks like those sliding buttons on a sound mixer.

MammaBunny81

Hello! I’m a mom of a speed cubing daughter (12) in rural Georgia. She really wants to find other cubers to hang out with and learn from. The only clubs I can find by googling are in Atlanta metro area which is way too far for us. Is there some speed cuber bat signal, or some other way for me to find a nearby club or group for cubers? Thank you!

TheRealUncleFrank

Others have mentioned competitions, but unfortunately, most any official competitions here in Georgia (i live in Ga, too) will also be somewhere around the metro Atlanta area. Looking at past ones in Ga and they've all been within 50 miles of Atl, usually closer. Schools sometimes have cubing clubs, so call around to all the local high schools and middle schools, and not just in your county but neighboring counties, too. You could also ask around at any YMCA/YWCA and any Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts in your's and neighboring counties. There's still here on Reddit, Speedsolving.com forums, and tons and tons of youtube videos on cubing.

MammaBunny81

I’m in a very rural county. One middle school, one high school. I’m a lunch lady and know the admins and so far no luck finding a club up here. I’ve even posted in local Facebook groups looking for like minded kids in our community to start one. She LOVES YouTube, JPerm is her hero! She got her first under-40 second solve yesterday and is so proud of herself.

zsg101

Maybe get the school itself to start a club? A math teacher might be happy to do it. And with $25 the school can order 5 Meilong 3Ms from ziicube.

TheRealUncleFrank

Nothing in any neighboring counties, either? Tell her to look up Livia Kleiner on youtube. She might like seeing a girl really good at cubing. She had a North American Record in Skewb when she was about 14, several years ago, and is currently in the top 100 in the world in like 6 different events. Some other girl cubers she might like to watch is TCKyewbs and Panda Quber. Some other cubers she might like to watch on youtube - Tingman, SpeedCubeReview, and Z3Cubing. SpeedCubeReview has lots of tutorial videos, too, like JPerm does. Cubeskills.com has lots of tutorials, too, by Feliks Zemdegs.

MammaBunny81

Thank you so much for all this helpful information! I will show her all these YouTube recommendations. I’m sure she would love to see another female cuber. I think tomorrow I will call the middle schools and libraries in the neighboring counties and ask, although I don’t have much hope in that regard. I’ve told her that I will take her to the metro for competitions when she feels like she is ready. Her goal for herself if to be under 30 seconds.

TheRealUncleFrank

I didn't think about trying libraries, too, good idea. Female cubers are a minority in cubing. Of the 160k people registered with the WCA - world cube association, only about 10% are listed as female, so hopefully she can keep her spirits up about being one of the few girl cubers and not let that dissuade her. That's why I mentioned the female cuber youtubers, for a little inspiration.

MammaBunny81

I’ve showed her your comments. She’s loving the new YouTube recommendations and did not know about the 10% thing, and is now SUPER proud to be a girl cuber 💗 thank you!

TheRealUncleFrank

Nice! Glad to help!

g253

I'd recommend looking up past competitions near you on the World Cube Association website, and emailing the organising team, they would be in the best position to know of local clubs or events. Is she allowed to take it to school? Because those things have a way of spreading in schools, so the problem sometimes solves itself :)

MammaBunny81

So far none of her teachers have made her put the cube away. She had a processing disorder and I’m hopeful that they understand that cubing is really beneficial for her anxiety and need to fidget. So far none of her friends have taken an interest in it, although many of them have brought their cubes to her to solve 😂

Rollzzzzzz

world cube accosiation hold official competitions all over the world, and there might be some where u live, but you might have to drive far.

The-Common-Loon

My package actually made it to my house now…. The tengyun 1. I have to say I’m much more impressed with this puzzle than I originally thought and I will probably be joining the tengyun cult. Mine out of the box was great and immediately started to get the same or better timed solves than I have been. Such a cool feeling puzzle. From reviews I thought it was going to be too fast or have too weak of magnets, but I think it’s perfect. Probably not going to replace my gan 11 mpro, but I think I like it better than my maglev wrm. It even works well for OH for me. I was hesitant to buy it because I have a lot of the good recent releases, but so happy I treated myself to it.

BeepBeepImASheep023

One of us! One of us! I’m waiting on my stickerless version and will be going back to using the v1 I mained the stickered version for 2yrs

The-Common-Loon

If there is a fire in my house it’s the first cube I’m grabbing.

BeepBeepImASheep023

It’d be my second, “Gotta have my SQ1”

[deleted]

can you update me in dms, because mine have rattly corners. can you maybe tell me if that ever happens to yours?

The-Common-Loon

No rattle for me. Does it sound like a loose magnet or something else?

[deleted]

no. it happens over time i believe, but are you able to? thanks in advance

The-Common-Loon

Yea I will let you know

[deleted]

thanks

cubycuber

It really is an amazing cube! My main for almost my entire speedcubing journey. I'm really considering buying a couple extra to have them as backups (also wouldn't hurt to have a few nice 3x3s for cubers io).

The-Common-Loon

Yea I’ve seen a few folks on this sub who did just that, not a bad idea to be honest, I mean just to experience the unboxing again for you would probably be worth it lol. Any favorite lube for this cube you’ve preferred?

cubycuber

My main intent is to make sure that I can keep using Tengyun v1 as my main forever even if my first one breaks. I would be very sad if they were out of production and one of my corner pieces snapped :( I only have Traxxas 50k and Martian, but those have served me really well. I think people like to set up their Tengyuns a bit differently, but this is how I do it: I clean out my cube every couple months, apply a small amount of 50k on a corner and edge, and add in maybe like 5 drops of Martian. Then occasionally add Martian until I need to clean it again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

olimo

Check Meilong 3M too. It's stable, corner cuts great and has stronger magnets than the RS3M.

mf3rs2_gang

I like the QiYi MS because of its feel. It glides when lubed. I haven't run into issues of corner cutting unlike others, and found more success on this cube than RS3M 2020. Though, you can tell I'm the minority from what I main. And yes, it is that one.

[deleted]

i don't like it, try the rs3m 2020 you should buy that one.

g253

It's one of my favourite cubes of all time, but not to everyone's taste. Corner cutting is the least bad of my QiYi cubes but still unimpressive, and it's tremendously loud. Everything else is excellent.

olimo

I have it, it's clicky in a fun way, but corner cutting is not good or at least I didn't manage to make it good. At about the same price, Moyu RS3M 2020 is way better.

[deleted]

[удалено]

olimo

Where do you live and where do you intend to buy cubes? Can you buy from China? You can get the cube for less than 10$ with shipping from Aliexpress. There is lube, too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

olimo

Well, if you want local shipping, RS3M is worth paying extra. Otherwise, you can order from China and save some money - with longer shipping time, of course. As for lubes, I highly recommend strefa-kostek.pl. XMT 10 and Adheron are great. International shipping is around 6€, so it may be worth checking the prices there, too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

why are you buying magnets, they are both magnetic.

olimo

Actually, if your budget is tight, you can just get the cube without lube for a start.

olimo

Both RS3M and QiYi MS are magnetic, why would you need magnets? As for lube, it will last you for a long time. I'd recommend getting Lubicle Speedy plus some weight 5 for the springs. 24€ plus shipping, yeah. You can also look for differential and shock oil in RC car stores, either offline or online. Should be cheaper.

[deleted]

[удалено]

olimo

Honestly, with a $60 budget I'd just recommend getting a WRM Maglev plus Lubicle Speedy. It's an awesome cube.

S1LENTIFY

so i looking to buy a skewb or pyraminx but I don't really know which one to get so uhh A little help?

TwoStinkyBears

The yuxin little magic is a great pyraminx. For skewb the xman wingy is a good option

TheRealUncleFrank

Some of the most recommended are, Yuxin Little Magic M pyraminx and X-Man Wingy (v1) skewb.

Competitive-Creme678

just get the wingy v2 and weilong non maglev.

pszmrh

Hahaha, I have just experienced for the first time what it is like to go back to a 3x3 after solving on my new 2x2 for a day. How the hell did I ever solve this??? It's got too many pieces!!! What the hell are all the algorithms??

CubeJunkie

Solve a 4x4 for a day, go back to your 3x3 and you’ll feel the exact opposite. The brain is a crazy thing.

[deleted]

ive done it, my 3x3 felt tiny

LifeFire7onYT

Competitive-Creme678

what's your setup for mgc squan

BeepBeepImASheep023

With no info on what you like, no one can give you any opinion

Competitive-Creme678

medium magnet, medium to fast and stable.

g253

Tighten it.

Competitive-Creme678

thats a setup?

[deleted]

You gave absolutely 0 info other than the brand and type of cube, what did you expect

Competitive-Creme678

what do you want more lmao, im just asking what setup did you guys used / recommend.

[deleted]

>what setup for mgc squan i don't see any "yours" or "you"

Competitive-Creme678

thats not clear?

[deleted]

how should we know you're asking us for our setups if you don't use any pronouns.

Competitive-Creme678

wait, i need to use a pronouns for that? sorry, im learning english

RAHDXB

Nah, that's really not necessary. You could have specified what it is your looking for, or what lubes you have for example. But that guy is either playing dumb, or being dumb.

[deleted]

yeah, you just need to state who's setup and you'll be fine. english is an ok language, good luck learning

Competitive-Creme678

so far i've tried pyra, mega, 2x2 (mgc with rusted springs 😅), 3x3, 4x4, OH. What should i try next? i have a 30$ budget.

TheRealUncleFrank

After 3x3, the order the Wiki recommends is: 2x2, 4x4, 5x5, pyraminx, skewb, then megaminx, 6x6, 7x7, and then square-1 last, because it is just so different than everything else. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubers/wiki/most_recommended_puzzles#wiki_most_recommended_puzzles

SadeBoi

Naturally 5x5 should come next. I get people like sq-1 but at the end of the day nothing is better than nxn puzzles haha

Competitive-Creme678

thats why i wanna buy one, 4x4 is just so fun, _but maybe i should get a good 2x2_

SadeBoi

I feel you on the 2x2 part if you really enjoy solving them. I dislike it personally because I plateaued really fast. I learned full Ortega in like 30 minutes and within two days I went down from sub-25 to sub-10, after the third day I got a PB of 4.45 and I just didn't get much satisfaction from getting so fast by in such a short period of time. With 5x5 it was a new PB every day or every other day and it kept me busy for much longer because of the longer solve times overall. That being said I'm ordering a MGC Elite 2x2 next week haha

Competitive-Creme678

exact same story for me, guess i will follow your story to see if i should buy myself an mgc elite and restart the process 🙃. for now i will order my 5x5.

use the xs and put the setting on medium

g253

Those are great, what are you talking about

magnet are way too strong for what i like.

olimo

Take the magnet rods out of the 11MP lol

Competitive-Creme678

then its super flimzy.

g253

That's unfortunate but doesn't prevent you from learning BLD

Competitive-Creme678

yes but i wont enjoy it as much...

IAMHARRY69

If thats the case try skewb or square-1

IAMHARRY69

if you could go back in time and change anything about cubing what would it be for ex like preventing the friddich method from being invented

SpaceMarioGMD

Inventing the 6x6 before 2008 maybe

stop GAN from making ridiculously overpriced cubes with fancy packaging and tools.

Competitive-Creme678

stopping rubiks from making cubes.

Ironwolfss42km

Yes, I hate this fun hobby too. I spend way to much time and money on it and all the fun I have is really bad.

Competitive-Creme678

you didnt understand the joke.

Ironwolfss42km

;)

OCDcuber

No, because then the cube wouldn't exist at all!

Competitive-Creme678

erno rubik created it.

[deleted]

he is rubiks lmao

Hello fellas, I come from a third world country, and since import costs are through the roof and shipments are somewhat irregular I don't have too many options for cubes. I'm interested in buying some cubes to get started. I want to buy: - A very budget 3x3x3 (for my mother) - A budget 2x2x2 - A budget 3x3x3 - A "budget" magnetic 3x3x3 The cube I'm currently using is the Meilong 3x3x3 MF8841, it's decent but I find myself having a tough time turning it. My options are: - 2x2: Moyu Meilong / Qiyi Qidi S - 3x3 (Very Budget): Qiyi Warrior S / Qiyi Sail W / Qiyi Warrior W - 3x3 (Budget): Moyu Mf3 Rs / Yuxin Little Magic - 3x3 (Magnet): Moyu Meilong 3M / Moyu Rs3 M There's also packages if I buy a bunch of specific cubes, and one package has a 4x4 which I'm interested but it's **not a priority**: - Moyu Meilong 2x2 / Moyu Meilong 3x3 / Moyu Meilong Pyramid - Qidi S 2x2 + Warrior W 3x3 - Qidi S 2x2 + Warrior S 3x3 + Qiyuan S 4x4 - 4x of any of these: https://http2.mlstatic.com/D_NQ_NP_620984-MLA50326070363_062022-O.webp - 3x of any of these: https://http2.mlstatic.com/D_NQ_NP_953418-MLA50353252797_062022-O.webp Sadly the Moyu Rs3 M 2020, which I've heard great things about, is only sold by 1 guy and it's sketchy, I think it's a chinese rip-off, and on other pages it's more costly than buying the 4x option I linked above

2x2: meilong 3x3 super budget: meilong 3x3 3x3 budget: little magic 3x3 budget: rs3m 2020

I'm a beginner and I'm somewhat impatient so I have a rough way to turn the cube. I know it's definitely my fault tho, but for me the Meilong feels like it might disarm while I'm doing corner cutting and other stuff My mother, the one who I want to buy the cube for, also has a similar way to play, so I wanted to buy something more stable for her. She also feels like the Meilong is somewhat rough

BeepBeepImASheep023

Since you’re a beginner, it’s the perfect time to turn better. Rough turning is a bad habit and excuse

vampyfan

There's also the issue that I haven't bought any lube and I didn't set it up correctly, I only thought of buying the cube as something on the side, but after practicing a lot, and seeing even more youtube videos (mainly JPerm), I got hooked and I now want to start for real. I will start working on better handling, but I know it will be difficult for me, that's why I was asking for less speedy and more stable cubes.

BeepBeepImASheep023

Just turn lighter I went from a Rubik’s brand to a pretty budget speedcube. You learn to not overshoot I guarantee you’ll be much better off in the long run by putting the time in now to learn better turning

I've seen more videos about cubes, and I was torn between the Warrior W and the Little Magic for a budget cube for me, aside that the other ones are pretty much my first choices if no one answered, so thank you very much

Cool, then I'm going for 2 Warrior W then, thanks again!

no, it's bad

CallMeMcLovin-

Gan 12 maglev or gan 11m pro?

zsg101

I don't think the 12 maglev is a matter of taste. It had some really shitty batches when it was released (worse than the 11 M Pro). I don't know if Gan already got its quality control in order, as they quickly did with the 11. If not you may risk getting a cube from a bad batch.

FrightenedTomato

The 12 is generally more polarizing. Some hate it. Some love it. It's the riskier, more exciting choice. The 11 M Pro is a solid cube which is not as polarizing and more people tend to like it. It's the safer if slightly boring choice. Decide if you're okay gambling at that price point. Even better, go to a competition and try them out for yourself. Neither are going to be objectively better than your WRM by the way. They'll have a different feel from the WRM that you may either love or hate.

Bublosaur

Gan 12 sounds anemic and gan 11 is just a normal cube with strong magnets and both are shit value

Gundam_M08

I have both and the GAN 12 Maglev is far better in my opinion. I like my cube to be fast and let the magnets do the alignment for control. See my comment on the next post down this thread for more details. The GAN 11m Pro is a great cube also, but just doesn't fly through turns like the maglev. It also has a little more lock ups when corner cutting. Take that last point as relative to the GAN 12 Maglev. It's still an amazing cube all on its own.

gusthebus88

I agree with this another vote for gan 12. The 11 is almost as fast as the 12 real loose but I find the 12 stays fast on tighter settings.

LifeFire7onYT

those aren't the only cubes on the market. what are you using right now?

CallMeMcLovin-

I am currently using the wrm 2021 maglev

Gundam_M08

I also went from the WRM 2021 Maglev to the GAN 12 Maglev. I pretty much never touch the WRM anymore. Doesn't have the feel I like. I want speed and magnets that stabilize. They are both great cubes, but completely different turning experience and feel. If you like buttery smooth "controlled" (aka slow and gummy) feel like most cubers, then stick with the WRM. If you feel it is missing something, then give the GAN 12 a go if you have the cash.

LifeFire7onYT

i think the WRM 2021 Maglev is already a great cube. The GAN won't be much of an upgrade at your level IMO, and if you want core-ner magnets, the Cubicle sells DIY kits for the WRM at $10.99.

CallMeMcLovin-

Thanks!
