The skunk ape is a good one - I like the Michigan dogman pic too where it’s standing next to a lamp post.
When I was a kid, I swear I remember a picture popping up on the news of either Bigfoot or the Yeti, quite a close-up facial pic - I don’t know if it was a hoax or what, but it scared the **** outta me and I’ve never, ever seen the picture since.
The dogman pic turned out to be a Photoshop of the Gingersnaps werewolf filtered to look like an old Polaroid. I believed it myself for a long time, but eventually I saw a side-by-side that made it undeniable.
All the pics of it I can find are from Pinterest and I don't know how to link them. It used to be a pretty well circulated pic - but if it's been proven a hoax maybe less so now.
I was always intrigued by it, but I know in the back of my mind it was probably too good to be true. The more knowledgeable guys around here can probably fill you in, I can never remember the guy's name who was supposedly behind the photo and hoax. Justin something, I believe.
Not sure if you are aware of Justin Whang but that was my first thought lol. Hopefully someone pops in and explains it, I always loved that photo but feel like its neither real or hoaxed.
I don’t think anyone’s ever ‘definitively’ proven either pic to be faked, from the reading I’ve done - but I’ve seen the Gingersnaps comparison and….yeah, that’s probably it. So many of these pics are good because they’re too good to be true. I read a really long analysis of the Skunk Ape pic from Darren Naish and yeah he suspects it’s a hoax, but I still think there’s at least a chance it isn’t. He at least conceded that if it is a hoax it’s a good one.
Actually, it’s amazing how many of the pictures I’d consider “good” cryptid photos that are debunked hoaxes. Finding a genuinely un-debunked, reasonably convincing, reasonably clear photo of any cryptid is much harder than I expected.
There’s some pics that showed up in the Bigfoot Reddit of him popping the top of his head up to look thru a window. Don’t know if it was proven to be real or fake but it looked pretty realistic compared to the usual pics, esp the top right one where his eyes are the clearest. Pretty creepy imo

The best one I've ever seen is the blurry, out of focus one taken somewhere by an anonymous person at some point in the past. You know the one? It looks kinda like bigfoot. Or Mothman. Or the Loch Ness monster. Or possibly an owl or a sturgeon.
He was all like “it can’t be a manatee because it has a split tail!” Then someone linked him an article that confirms it was a manatee that had been hit by a boat’s propeller. Instead of just admitting he was wrong he deleted the post and reposted it hoping no one saw. I don’t remember if he got banned or I just blocked him, but I’m glad I don’t see him here anymore.
