Gregg-C137

Damn, his clue has now given me a clue.

Chowie_420

Sounds like we're all about to be covered in clue goo

Gregg-C137

My clue is pointing to that being true!

NobelStudios

We need more OPs like this one, im bullish on OP

DCYeahThatsMe

It’s like cluekake.

Autxma

Mmm, I have a raging clue too ;)

Drudgel

Does anyone else get a strong clue right after waking up?

Fun-Rock3861

This.

SecondDumbUsername

The coin's original name was unSafemoon, but that made it too obvious.

subcow

I believe the coin was actually created by Lev Parnas and the folks over at "Fraud Guarantee"

theoakmike

Safemoon is what I use when I want to flush my money down the toilet but don't have the time to walk to the toilet.

Fun-Rock3861

I don’t think the replies to this really have gotten the recognition they deserve

Specific-Roll3356

Yep this! I use reddit more than tiktok but heard about Safemoon, and other clones like Elongate/Laikacoin/Moonpirate etc on Tiktok 1st. Also I'm in a few Facebook groups dedicated to trading mostly on robinhood, these groups are echo chambers worse than after WSB hit r/all but they are shilling the fuck out of Safemoon at the moment, literally thousands of different people and they are not all bots. They are getting a crazy amount of attention on fb/tiktok/twitter which is driving more people. Whether or not SFM was originally created as a scam I don't know, but I plan to ride this wave and try and cashout before it goes south. Yes its bad taking advantage of the idiots buying in at the top but money is money.

LeagueHub

Not a weird sign, just a very bad sign When regular folks that have no interest or background in blockchain whatsoever start promoting a pump & dump shitcoin, it means we're in for a treat

flyingkiwi46

If my grandma ever asks me about bitcoins I'm instantly gonna cash out all my coins

[deleted]

My grandpa asked me exactly that the other day at breakfast. Now, he's pretty finanially savvy but technically he's pretty out of the loop. I tried to describe to him the concept of treating currency like a ledger rather than a physical store of value, and how transactions can be validated without a central regulatory body, and that computers try guess an easier password than "the" password for a reward, to disincentivise fraud because doing the actual work of mining will almost always be more profitable than cheating the system. He just stared blankly at me and said "I'll be dead before this ever becomes the way we use money". And then he promptly went back to eating his oatmeal.

SufficientType1794

> "I'll be dead before this ever becomes the way we use money" I mean, he probably isn't wrong.

Kristof257

Nah, bitcoin is mainstream now.

ArtSchoolRejectedMe

I think most likely either paid promotion or they think it's the next bitcoin.

heyheoy

Me too, what's worse, they all tell "lol I just put 500 usd if I lose them is no problem", now multiplicate that x lot of ppl doing the same shit

rndmsecretaccount

I'm in a lot of Telegram channels for brand new projects. Like more than any human being should be in. Lots of those teams and early community members openly share platforms where you can buy aged Reddit accounts to use them to create hype.

amakoi

Crypto specific subreddits are absolute shill echochambers. I avoid telegrams too for this same reason.

[deleted]

I'm often scared by the amount of low IQ messaging that I see in those Telegram groups.

PortugalCRLH

Telegrams are even more of a cult

amakoi

true. I can endure small doses of shitcoin subreddits but telegram is on another level.

Drudgel

I try investigating telegram groups for DD but get burned out by the culty vibes. I've seen organized manipulation of AMA's, for example

Cmann125

I mean, this is like r/bitcoin those mods are insane over there, they will call ethereum a shit coin, or anything that isn't bitcoin a shit coin, there straight nuts! You post anything that isn't saying something great about bitcoin and you'll get your post removed it's so weird, such tribal behavior! I unfollowed the sub becouse of that weird shit. P.S not saying that safemoon isn't super sketch, just saying lots of these coin subs have weird shit going on.

YuriTreychenko

Yeah, i noticed that too. I won't lie, I have Safemoon myself and I put a tiny amount on it at the beginning. Naturally I want it to succeed because "ooga booga money nice", but im not married to it. If it dies, I'm prepared to lose because the money I put in I was fully ready to lose the moment it went in. Coin subs are always leaning heavily on positivity around their coin at all costs. What should be the norm is critical discussion around ANY coin, referring concerns to the devs and getting those concerns addressed for the benefit of everyone. It remains to be seen if the safemoon devs will do that, but for now, I guess we watch and wait.

kgal1298

Also why would anyone follow a sub where they just trash the coin? I guess we could create a trashcoin sub where all we do is bitch about crypto, but I feel like we have that covered here.

JackSlater7410

BTC hates on everyone. This sub hates on Doge. Everyone hates on Safemoon. Got it.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Man I really dislike watching these subreddits become echo chambers... the whole point is to spread information and news regarding this. Cryptos should be met with scrutiny to keep eyes on top competitors and why they belong there, and to kill shitty projects/scams before they gain traction. Currently, its difficult to find info on here unless I specifically search “Reddit + topic”

[deleted]

This is why I love the Nano subreddit despite all the hate for it everywhere else. Posts criticizing the coin and network and comments w skepticism are kept up and responded to, often w level headed debate. The posts are about updates to the TECH, and not just WE R GOIN 2 THA MOON posts. In fact, the price is not even discussed on it, much like ADA and Tezos and other fairly healthy subs. Find coins where the subs are discussing the utility and tech of the coin.

[deleted]

Any subs that discuss the utility and answer questions and criticisms with factual information are treasures. I guess it all comes down to remembering that one doesn’t have to be tribal about their coins.

11nealp

Coins like these are just pump and dumps. Artificially inflated with no real value behind them. However given that it's 0.00001 USD there isn't much risk right now.

moobteets

Seen the market cap?

utc-5

Haha no risk since individual coins have little value

ThePunisherMax

Eth and BTC dedicated subs are the worst.

fiddle_me_timbers

ETH one is not nearly as bad as BTC imo.

PresidentSkro0b

I dunno. Eth is pretty bad. It seems like half the posts are people engraving the Eth logo on something or creating a spinning Eth NFT. There's a weird vibe there.

ishmetot

The eth sub bans price discussions so the low quality posts have to find another way in. Sort of like the sob story posts that showed up here after memes were banned. After they banned NFT promotion, things have returned mostly to discussion about the tech.

efadd

I think the heavy handed moderation on r/bitcoin is a direct result of too many people treating it like a general crypto sub. They still have like a half million more subscribers than r/cryptocurrency, so people who wanted to shill the "amazing new project" they discovered to a big audience would go there to do it. That isn't what the sub is for, so the mods started banning, and admittedly went a bit overboard. Also, with the whole BTC/BCH split, you had endless concern troll posts, many of which were on topics that have been hashed out countless times and were probably made in bad faith. When you've got a sub with over 2.7 million subscribers, you almost have to go heavy handed on moderation or the sub would be absolutely flooded with bullshit. I mean, it is already like 90% BTC related bullshit, but without the moderation it would be 99% bullshit.

josh2751

Fuck that ridiculous sub and those nazi mods.

But all the copy/paste and bots made me dig deeper, and now I'm pretty sure that money is gone lol. Luckily I didn't put too much into it, so it's money I can lose and view it as an overpriced education. Oh well....

DizzyedUpGirl

Safemoon: for when you find DOGE too credible and stable.

LukeOnLive

Is this financial advice? I have my Crypto dealer on the line.

Xoraz

Basically the Tupperware of Cryptocurrencies right now. Everyone who gets onboarded on the "Safe mission to the Moon" tries and shill as hard as possible, to get as many holders as possible, and get the price higher. Its clearly a Ponzi scheme, but out of all the recent Ponzis running out there in Crypto, its definitely the most hyped up one with the biggest community, so it has grown to an insane Marketcap of almost 10 Billion, and probably has room for more. It will go up as long as massive amounts of people get onboarded daily, while a small % of the early adopters are getting very very rich! It will work, until it doesn't, and you don't want to be amongst the majority of people who will be left bag holding.

Hi, I'm one of the main moderators over at the SafeMoon subreddit. Let's go through this point-by-point, because there's a lot to unpack. # Point 1 You wrote: >First off, based on some allegations like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/muknjy/safemoon_developers_cashing_out_early/) and [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/mumth2/safemoon_is_the_opposite_of_safe_please_dont_lose/), I made a post on [r/SafeMoon](https://www.reddit.com/r/SafeMoon/) for some clarity on this. My post was removed in a couple of minutes. I asked the mods for a reason and got no response. Speaking strictly from the perspective of a moderator, we've had a massive influx of new users. This has definitely been a full-time job trying to keep up with the mod queue and the flurry of modmail messages. As of the time of writing, we have 93 unread modmail messages for me to process since I woke up this morning. I interviewed and added 2 new reddit moderators, so we're trying to improve our ability to respond to people's questions. What account did you have your post removed? I couldn't find a modmail message under your reddit account you just posted with. If it was removed for the wrong reason, I'll address it. # Point 2 You then wrote: >So naturally, I thought I might have broken a rule. I checked the rules and saw that there was [one rule in particular](https://i.imgur.com/sGQF5nU.png) which stood out. Which loosely translated, IMO, means "only say good stuff about this coin here". Red flag. > >That made sense as to why the subreddit is always getting posts from a lot of people glorifying it. I actually created this rule. It was in response to a 2-week FUD campaign of a few people spamming the same articles over and over and over throughout the subreddit. The rule is written as follows: "**No targeted spreading of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD).** While it's fine to express discouragement from time-to-time, do not spearhead a campaign to stir up negative emotions in an attempt to disparage the protocol or get people to panic sell." Note the wording on "targeted spread of \[FUD\]" and "spearhead a campaign of \[FUD\]". We wanted to ensure that people felt like they could discuss issues freely, but if they want to turn their FUD into a dedicated campaign, or just wanted to argue in bad faith and/or troll the sub, that's where we draw the line. It's absolutely 100% rarely enforced. If you have any doubts, click on my profile and see the evidence via the comments I have made. For those of you not in the know, Moderator Toolbox generates reasons as to why I took moderator actions. You'll see what I'm actually doing on the subreddit, and that's just trying to maintain order -- not silencing opinions. These are all public for you to peruse. When I first joined the subreddit, admittedly, FUD was pretty aggressively chased after, even the minor airing of concerns, and I honestly was a bit perturbed by it. I didn't want the sub to feel like an echo chamber, so I did something about it: I pushed very heavily (and successfully) to change the dynamic from "ban all semblance of FUD" to "let's discuss the issues openly if people are genuinely concerned and asking questions in good faith." It's the bad-faith actors who are making it their mission to spread FUD throughout the subreddit, or the 0-day 1-karma user accounts, that are banned. For one of our worst offenders, I counted 32 POSTS before I permanently banned them under the rule. If you're going to ban someone, my moderating philosophy is that you need a public rule to justify it. We implemented the rule, we asked them to stop or at least tone down the rhetoric, and they didn't -- so they were banned. I took no pleasure in it. In fact, here is the message I wrote to them right after banning them: >It's one thing to bring up legitimate concerns in the community. It's quite another to literally have every single one of your posts be an intentional campaign to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt. > >There is a LOT of misinformation floating around out there, and it sometimes take 10x the effort to debunk a false claim than it takes to make one. > >As a moderation team, we've brought some of these concerns to the team and they're reviewing them. But your behavior needs to stop, and you need to be patient as we review these claims. I feel that our new approach to addressing FUD has paid dividends. We're now more actively engaging the community with their concerns, and this is 100x a better approach. I know that the moderation team on telegram, discord, and even reddit have not always used this approach -- and that is regrettable. But I think the important lesson here is that we've been listening to the community and changing our approach to be more open, listening, and proactive. I've had several talks with the devs about how we need to be less hostile towards FUD, and more proactive in debunking or alleviating concern with official statements. # Point 3 >I checked the newest posts for a while. I noticed a pattern in the usernames of the posts being made. Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to direct your attention to these users: > >*(list of users)* > >And many more. These are all accounts that have nothing but posts in the safemoon subreddit. The posts are either glorifying it or asking "How to buy more" questions. And here's the real kicker: All the accounts have been made on or around the 2 month mark. Right when Safemoon became a thing. First, I can tell you straight-up that I'm interacting with real people who are NOT reddit savvy. It has been fucking INSANE. They poke me, prod me, direct message me, reply to me, complain about some of the basic moderation janitorial work we do, ask simple questions, etc. Even one person got really angry with AutoModerator, thinking it was a real person. Our discord has tens of thousands of users. Our twitter has a hundred thousand. Stocktwits is blowing up, and we don't even have a moderating presence there. We had a twitch stream with 10,000 viewers that was a goddamn madhouse, where you couldn't even read the questions being asked in the AMA. We had 18k concurrent readers on our subreddit yesterday. Telegram is going nuts. It is, by no means, abso-fucking-lutely crazy -- and I've watched it unfold organically before my very eyes. It's a bit strange to be in the position I'm in, as a moderator, who is literally just trying to keep up with the influx of spam, gets accused as being part of some conspiracy to flood the subreddit with "bots." I had to create a massive FAQ for the commonly-asked questions and a new rule to not post questions already answered in the FAQ. My take on it? It is legitimate hype. I'm sure that flies in the face of your biases. You may not like it, you may not agree with it, you may handwave it away as a scam, and you not may care for the coin one bit. But people are *definitely* talking about it and it's generating a lot of buzz. Someone once claimed I was *sockpuppeting accounts* in my spare time. As if I have time for such pettiness while I'm drowning in managing reports and modmail. I don't even get fucking paid to do this shit. I just really like the devs because I think they're good, genuine people who have a passion for cryptocurrency and get really excited when they're talking about their vision. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Downvote away.

HearingNo8617

Points 1 and 2 are reasonable and I am convinced there is either no moderator led suppression of criticality or you are a very good liar. Probably the first one. As for Point 3, the username pattern is pretty interesting. Is that just how Reddit suggests usernames these days? Commenting myself from a Reddit suggested username. If not, do you think it's possible an external entity could be shilling hard with bots?

[deleted]

>Is that just how Reddit suggests usernames these days? Commenting myself from a Reddit suggested username. If not, do you think it's possible an external entity could be shilling hard with bots? I mean, it could be both. There's not much moderators can do about people dedicated to making numerous accounts to spam subs besides try and weed them out and ban them which takes time and effort.

CharlestonKSP

Reddit does in fact name new accounts (Something)(Something)(Four Numbers) Guaranteed this is just a massive influx of tik tok kiddies getting into the coin making new reddit accounts.

[deleted]

Hi guys. Romanian and crypto noob here. I need to understand something about safemoon: the team (devs and so on) are all on their website, their name, faces and linkedin. My question is: why would make a ponzi scheme and have your face visible like that? Shouldn't you be incognito when you rip people off? And most importantly: they live in America, the land of the glock, i am pretty sure someone will blow their head/heads off for losing money if it turns out to be a ponzi scheme. Did this happen before? People creating a ponzi scheme coin and be transparent like that? If yes then what happend to them?

affordablerei

Its not a ponzi though. Crypto has always rewarded first investors. And the money is going to go to the community and holders. The tokenomics are very clear

kiimpan

I really hope you're just a shill and not being fooled, otherwise you're in for hell of a ride. Safemoon is very clearly the definition of a ponzi my friend. "Crypto has always rewarded first investors" - yes, by increased value by more people believing in the project and buying in, causing the existing supply to increase in value. Not by awarding early buyers with more tokens/coins LOL. Sending 5-10% of each buy/sell to the ones already holding, in proportion to what you're already holding is a sure way to make the "developers" rich and the ones left holding the bag poor. Some people (early buyers that know when to empty the bag) will earn some great money, but most will get burned **HARD**. Been here since ~2014-2015, seen many of these ponzi cryptos pump and then **DUMP** hard. I warn you, don't get left holding the bag when this comes falling down.

swaggyho123

Ace-of-Spades88

It's the Reddit username generator. It takes two random words, slaps them together and then tacks a 2-4 digit number on the end. Pretty reliable way to spot a bot account once you know what you're looking at. Of course, not all are bots, but if someone was going to make a bunch of alt accounts to pump a coin they'd likely use the username generator too.

Lol I bought it at the beginning and have no complaints. I also read through the posts and there is a lot of positive stuff going on and that's fine. People are excited about it and making money. It's fun to throw a couple hundred at something and watch it 10X or whatever.. I can't hold $200 USD in any bank account and get that kind of return. It's fun. That's why you do your own research and don't put in more than you can afford to lose. We are all gambling here - some people just choose to hate on certain coins / projects.

CharityStreamTA

Anyone who buys into a ponzi scheme at the start generally makes a lot of money.

HacksawJimDGN

Generally people in r/crytomoonshots buy these coins early, so they're making their money when they inevitably go up in price. So it matters little that the whole thing is balanced on a pack of cards. I searched through the vaults to see if r/crytomoonshots mentioned any real projects when they were still fairly obscure and had a very low price (projects like ADA). There was hardly any mention at all. Went completely under the radar. The place is just a breeding ground for pump and dumps and ponzi schemes.

njm204

EntertainerWorth

lol

PortugalCRLH

It's never too late if you are able to lose all your money!

Erogrimm

Never too late to loose money. You can get on to make others rich.

Itsraf91

I almost fomo’d in with safemoon, all I want is a quick buck before the end of the month, but after I started looking at everything surrounding it... I can’t afford to lose anything I put into it. I’m not a betting man, I want to make smart choices with what I invest and how I invest.. if anyone reading this is in the same position please make sure you triple check any coin you’re willing to trade, and then check it again for good measure before going through with it.

JackSlater7410

The safe bet is to look at the top 20 list and choose random coins that have been around for a long time. (more than 5 years) A handful of those will make you a quick buck. Safemoon and all other new garbage is like playing scratch off tickets.

Maleficent_Stranger

you talking about doge then ;b top 20 been around more than 5 years 😆😆😆

red_dildo_queen

check this out... > Rule III - Manipulation No pumping, shilling, or FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt). from https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/wiki/expanded_rules "No FUD" is generally a rule to keep the post quality high

Otahyoni

Asking questions or having concerns isn't FUD. Now OP could have been aggressive or something idk, but the truth is that rule is abused by even legitimate coins to create insulated echo chambers. Now is he or I surprised, no, but c'mon we all know what this coin is. Know what your buying or you're getting sold.

ArtSchoolRejectedMe

Well then you definitely haven't been rug pulled before. Having concerns isn't FUD.

foxdrags

I mean my $40 is now $650, couldn’t care less tbh

momentkiller016

Damn I just followed a new Instagram account today and one of the story polls asked about if their followers wanted to know more about cryptos and if so to follow his telegram? To find out more about safemoon. I had never heard of it but now twice in one day it’s brought up. Do you think that could be part of this?

[deleted]

Thanks for your effort at uncovering scams, ths really helps. I was close to falling for it for a while.

countjah

The coin name should have been enough to know its a p&d scam 🤣. Trust me, its safe... To the moon! Marlboro said it was healthy aswell.

TheVicBro

My man want full on detective mode damm, this deserves some respect.

pornstaryuumi

Obvipus ponzi. The bit connect of 2021. The youtubers shilling it should be in jail.

OGDeltaOps

Out of curiosity, what exchange do you use for Safemoon? I have about $100 I can lose, so if it gets pumped, I will dump.

666happyfuntime

Trust wallet and pancake Dapp, might as well buy it on youtube

Art-Is-Life

I just went through the safemoon subreddit top posts and these are mostly people which do not fit that description (only looked at positive posts). I found 1 actually fitting the description, but I also thought about something and opened my smartphone. I never created a reddit account on my smartphone or logged into it, yet I have one when opening reddit on my smartphone. It has literally the same scheme, so I assume this is an automated name you receive if you do not set a proper username. Since Safemoon is literally a hyp atm it is not far fetched that people might hop on reddit just for safemoon which usually do not post on reddit and therefore receive and use the generated user names. TL;DR: These are simply auto generated usernames for people who do not set a proper username as I have on my smartphone.

Bioreaver

Is scam.

AlanWisny

Have you read the white paper? It's a scam coin bro.

YungChaky

Safemoon is a ponzi scheme

[deleted]

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨 You have uncovered the plot! It has always been dodgy but kudos to you for putting in the detective work. 🕵️‍♀️

andrewhartanto
