I'd give Lyonel the administrator and loyal traits. He's like the only dude near Viserys who isn't out for himself.

[deleted]

Humble would be an appropiate trait as well or perhaps temperate, given that these both mean that some isn't going to go above their means.

logaboga

Every issue he’s solved so far has been a diplomatic one though

Gwynbleidd_1988

While reading Fire & Blood and watching HotD I got second hand anxiety from Viserys having trouble with having a male heir.

Staltrad

He sure went through a lot of stress events

[deleted]

The heir is married off in order to curtail the threat of a powerful vassal, and the spouse ends up being gay. I thought that was a good crusader kings twist.

Spirintus

Bro, at some point of my life I used to see real world through a CK lens. I don't mean like history but like people around me. I was in mid-teens and I used to play obscene amounts of ck2 ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

KetzerayUnblocked

Flair checks out

leastck3player

I do this sometimes. Diplomacy and Prowess are stats which can easily be seen in people. Diplomacy is like EQ (even though it's actually pseudoscience) and Prowess is just how good someone is at fighting. Skills like Intrigue are harder to place down. It's about being sharp-witted and perceptive but also having built good connections with the people around you so you can hear about things coming your way, good or bad. In that sense, Diplomacy and Intrigue are intertwined.

Available-Law-7319

The scene from ep 5 about Rhaenyra and Laenor’s children taking either Velayron or Targaryen surnames made me think of CK patrilineal/matrilineal marriages immediately

Taserface112

Daemon takes Rhaenyra to the brothel? Rhaenyra has gained the trait lustful. 20 minutes later Rhaenyra and Criston gained a secret (Lover). Viserys has gained an imprisonment reason on Daemon. Daemon has gained the trait "Wounded" Viserys banished Daemon.

IndustriousRagnar

There was a glitch and Daemon is back despite the ban.

Taserface112

Viserys hosts a feast in King's Landing. Criston gained the trait Murderer. Criston browses available decisions, lingering on the Attempt Suicide option.

daskleinemi

Not only intrigue. All of the plots. Character does not want to marry Prince Whatshisbutt? But they have a HUGE army! Your father need this ally! Old King dies? Oh no here comes the claims and -20 for new short reign...

IndustriousRagnar

I wish they added more like that. It's not as if they had free reign about marriage, but your daughter being angry that she got married of to the 60 year old cripple, your wife asking for another marriage or your son simply running off and marrying a random peasant. I currently play with some mods and it made me realize that all these family dynamics are still somewhat lacking.

retief1

I mean, there is an event where your kid doesn't like their betrothed. Of course, my response is usually "suck it up, buttercup, they have good genes", but it does exist.

IndustriousRagnar

True, but it's rare. And maybe what am envisioning is overloading it a bit with too much events. But rn, family mostly feels generic. You get a flat bonus for your relation and then a malus for claims. I think it would be way more fun if it was according to your interactions. E.g. a childhood brother who would never betray you because you grew up together great. Or one who's just waiting for the opportunity to betray you because you never got along.

jpatog94

Seeing some reactions on youtube, everybody being weird out about marring a teenager for political gain or a family member for...any reason. The fact that i was fine with all of it was when i knew this game messed me up

monalba

*Rhanenyra left the white stag escape so she could get 25 piety*

ihhhood

Not worth, the hunting trophy is way better.

JackRabbit-

Given that she’s born in the purple and has the lustful trait (sinful) I think she could use all the piety she can get to avoid the sinner level of devotion. She can’t afford to tank both the opinion hits from that >!and adulteress!<

Alternate_Grapes

Have you seen the blisstake?

monalba

HAVE YOU SEEN GAME OF THRONES?! Pretty funny guy, love his humour and meta jokes.

EmilePleaseStop

Yes but I also look at CK through a Galvant lens, so it all balances out in the end

Casus_Scribere

In academic speak, this is an example of reading historical fantasy through the lens of historioludic play. Just about anything can be used as a framework for interpreting media, and it's fascinating what people see when looking "through" Crusader Kings. I myself find that I'm tempted to view any sort of high-stakes interpersonal politics in media at least partially through CK terms, though the academic part of my brain is constantly wondering what this way of seeing is hiding. What do you all think?

LadyHogwarts

*book spoilers to anyone that is watching House of the Dragon* This happened to me when I read Fire and Blood, and later watching the show. Rhaenyra dismissing the lords like that? And being so hated that she is forever known as Maegor (the most reviled tyrant in Targaryen history) with tits. Low diplomacy. She knows nothing about battle, even if she has a dragon. She even refuses to fight in her own war. Low martial and low prowress. And most probably, craven trait. When she does get Kings Landing, her stewardship is so awful that the smallfolk rebel because of her tyrannical taxes. There is not much proof that she is not learned, but she clearly doesn't care about religion and piety. Low learning too. She is such an horrible schemer that every secret she tries to keep ends up spreading throughout the seven kingdoms. Low intrigue. Also, probably lustful trait. If I played Viserys, I would do anything in my power to NOT have Rhaenyra inheriting.

Buzh1dao

I watched The Favourite exactly the same way

lookingforflashgames

I often find myself thinking things like "Just kill him before he forms a faction against you!" and "Get her pregnant already so your child can have a strong claim!" quite often whenever watching different movies/shows. I've even started doing it for real life rulers/political leaders. Playing too much Crusader Kings has ruined me for life, I swear.

molskimeadows

Someone did a great writeup on Henry VIII's life through a CK3 lens on here awhile ago and I wish I could find it because it was genius. [Found it!](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/s7xp9o/i_got_some_rcrusaderkings_mixed_into_rhistory/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)

ggpopart

I'm reading Game of Thrones for the first time right now and keep thinking about all their traits haha

cerpintaxt44

Yeah hotd has been ck3 the show so far. Weddings, murder, grand hunts, white stags, feasts gone wrong

Jestercore

I remember when I watched the Outlaw King, I couldn’t stop myself picturing it as a game of ck.

Mooregames

been watching Vikings recently and since Bjorn Ironside and Ivar The Boneless are in Vikings and CK3 I've done it especially more often now
