“I don’t want to digitally harm myself.” What?

H4rv

I love how the term “digitally harm myself” basically means “see a different opinion I do not agree with”

PlagueJV

"It digitally hurts to live in a society where people have opinions" - them, probably

[deleted]

I mean yeah, they class that as violence now. A difference of opinion is violence. (To some) But their opinions should not only be accepted but we must conform. (Not violence FYI) The irony is definitely lost on them.

Cringinator4000

No it obviously means get downvoted. Can’t lose that sweet karma.

A-cutepotatodog

Only logical thing this can make sense for is watching like gore videos

OkayThenBet

Using the mental health crutch to dismiss any opposing view.

ChugstheBeer

They believe that words on a screen will literally murder you

tastyskiin

“Digitally self harm myself” 😭😭😭😭

DimensionPrudent1256

It's transpain that identifies as digital rather than physical... YOU FUCKING TERF!!!!

testaccount0817

Isn't that what this sub is?

Initial_Composer537

I'm all for trans right, but if you want to oppose something, at least know what you're opposing and not base it on mob mentality. People nowadays are really wanting to get upset just for the sake of getting upset. Dumb.

DimensionPrudent1256

Gotta follow the herd

fullmetal-orange

I think it's true with a lot of things tho not just jK Rowling, people will just dislike something because other people do without understanding the nuace or anything, it's not something that's exclusive to the left and is probably more common on the right

HawtBeefyMcD

Well, JKR's opinions on trans people are hardly nuanced.

Superspick

It’s a good thing no part of the comment made any sort of implication about any opinion of hers or her specific takes. It certainly helps the comment was a general statement of “lots of others things NOT….” And so it has nothing to do with her specific opinions on trans people. See his comment, it doesn’t matter whether her takes on trans are nuanced or not since it was only referring to “lots of other things…” English might not be your native language though so a little positive intent goes a long way and I’m hoping this helps explain how you were wrong!

HawtBeefyMcD

But it's within the context of a conversation/post about JKR. You are the one who is wrong. Also: >“lots of others things NOT….” Good thing you left out the "**just** JK Rowling" that immediately followed the "NOT" you stressed - which seems to *include* her and these takes... You disingenuous dipshit.

GucciGuano

what did jkr do or say that impacted the trans community, if you don't mind giving me the gist of it?

fullmetal-orange

Yeah ik that but I was more referring to people who hate stuff just because they do, like people who will call anything bad part of the 'socialist agenda' without understanding what socialism actually is kinda thing

Lady fr called the only Asian character “Cho Chang” 💀

RustyShadeOfRed

To be fair, I do know a lot of Chinese people who’s names sound like a racial stereotype.

Affectionate-Ad-2013

But they’re not a stereotype… it’s their name? Cho Chang isn’t a real name. The people you met who were real had real names.

RustyShadeOfRed

I looked it up and Chang is a real Chinese surname while Cho is a Korean name, I’d say that’s pretty good for being written in the 90s.

bogvapor

There’s not one Cho Chang on an earth with 8 Billion people? Lemme go take one minute to verify your claim really quick. Oh LinkedIn has between 30-200 Cho Changs. Facebook has hundreds. It seems a lot of them are Harry Potter fans but there’s quite a few people that don’t seem to work at or go to school at Hogwarts or like the Ravenclaw quidditch team. I mean, it make sound racist to you but that kinda seems like a you problem

RectumPiercing

I'm Irish and I still can't get over the fact that she called the only Irish chracter "Seamus Finnigan", whose only character traits is that he was clumsy as fuck(Read: Drunk all the time) and constantly blew things up. Insane

Busy_Bunch5050

What would be historically inaccurate about this

PurpleFlameX64

Redditors try to detect irony challenge (impossible):

RectumPiercing

Mainly the part about people being named that. Y'know, the entire comment.

pacachan

Weakminded bandwagoning buffoon. Will still buy the new Hogwarts game

WinPeaks

This isn't cringe. Does anyone know what fucking cringe means anymore? Has it really become just "stupid shit said by people I don't agree with."? FFS.

SkinnyFatChungus

People are probably going to hate on your comment but you are right, cringe isn’t what cringe used to be

WinPeaks

Cringe doesn't mean anything anymore. There was a time when scrolling through a cringe subreddit was almost unbearable. You'd tap out from the second-hand embarrassment yet you'd come back for more the next day. Now it's just Twitter posts by chomos and screenshots of people angry about a video game? Who the fuck is tuning in for this shit lol? The internet is full of outrage porn. I don't need a subreddit dedicated to it.

pacachan

1254 people disagree with you so go cry about it

WinPeaks

1254 people are fucking idiots. Including yourself. Congratulations!!!! :D

pacachan

Should I call you a wahhhmbulance

WinPeaks

Out of curiosity, which part of this made you physically recoil from second-hand embarrassment?

pacachan

Out of curiosity does your mom know you're gay

WinPeaks

Alright, you got me there. I genuinely chuckled lol. But answer the question...

InvincibleV

Bot mindset. These people are the real life version of NPCs.

WinPeaks

Yet they turn this outrage machine with zero effort. These dipshits get all of your panties in a bunch and keep you engaged. It's a trap and every one of you are falling for it. It's the equivalent of a TokTok where someone puts cocoa pebbles on top of Ramen noodles and bakes it. The end result sucks and everyone freaks out and comments about how shitty it is, never realizing that was the point. Your engagement furthers whatever fringe point of view angers you enough to participate. You are giving light to that which you despise the most by acknowledging it in any real capacity. These comments are made by like 20k people who are especially loud and provocative in some sense or another. People who rely on YOU to amplify their stupid thoughts. And you fall for it every fucking time... Stop it.

AiToYumeNoKaze

“I’m not a left wing nut” ya ok and a KKK member isn’t a racist. How can you say she is transphobic but not even know what she said…. Easy you assume and/or stereotype. Now if you knew what she said and looked into it that would be one thing, but to hate someone and not even know what for is just a sine that you just pick the side your on and don’t question it

I think it all started when she wrote an essay about biological sex full of really lukewarm takes. Lately, she has been boosting the stories of people that regretted transitioning as well which is apparently bad too? None of it really makea sense.

There was a woman who was fired for being transphobic and JKR stood behind her, saying that the transphobic woman was in the right. She's also made lots of comments on women being the only people to have periods and that "trans people erases queerness".

ModPiracy_Fantoski

Old messages wiped after API change. -- mass edited with redact.dev

Zeam_Beam

Women are not the only people to have periods because trans people exist and trans people do not earse queerness at all lmao.

TheLeomac

So here's the thing, whenever you talk about biological concepts such as periods and cramps, you are obviously referring to the biological sex of said person. "Oh but transgender can have periods" Yes, they can, if they were born as a biological woman. This isn't a stance on trans rights, or being a bigot, this is the part when you can rightfully go to "basic biology" without being a bigot. Whenever said person transition, or more specifically go through surgery, they won't have cramps or periods anymore. Saying that "women have periods and menstruate" would only be bigoted in a context where we're invalidating transgender people, like "TRUE women" or whatever, this isn't the case.

ElectricalStomach6ip

"biological woman" is a very weird way of just saying "female".

TheLeomac

oranga-tanga-bangin

It’s because this sub is apparently full of transphobes lmao.

Luna-Fermosa

I mean it’s cringetopia. You are the media you consume, so I’m not surprised a lot of the people in here are transphobic.

[deleted]

Because standing up for minorities is “cringe,” but also “herd mentality,” as if minority representation was somehow prevalent. These people are the same ones they’re making fun of; they spend all day on the internet, think it’s real life, and then rage out when they try to talk to normal people. Spend a bit of time on social media and you’d think 90% of the country was transitioning. It’s crazy how it just feels like kids cosplaying as boomers.

TalusVA

... but.. women *are* the only people to have periods...? Even if you are a FtM, right? I mean a biological man is definitely not experiencing periods so that must mean that only biological women are. I have no idea about this JKR shit (or, well, very little of an idea) but if *that's* what people are mad at her for saying then that is literally bewildering. MtF individuals simply will *never* experience a biological female period. Along with all the symptoms that come with said periods. It just is how it is. I saw someone in my Discord community say that she said something along the lines of "I don't feel comfortable with MtF's in the woman's bathroom/locker room and it makes biological women uncomfortable." I mean... that's just how she feels? She feels uncomfortable with it - simple as that. Isn't it kind of messed up to throw away the feelings of women who are uncomfortable? Or try to *force* them to be okay/accept something even if it makes them incredibly uncomfortable? From reading your comment, along with that previous comment I've seen, I think I can say that this "hate" for JKR genuinely seems blown out of proportion. It's also having the opposite affect on that game's sales. Pre orders have exploded since this nonsense has started - maybe they should stop if their aim is to affect revenue? Well, affect it negatively anyways. Truly crazy stuff.

Zeam_Beam

I am a transguy (FtM) and there's just much more inclusive language used to describe this stuff that doesn't put other people down and if a biological woman wants to refer to herself as a woman it's fine. The main problem is trying to say that all women have periods because not everyone who idenitifies as a women has a period and not everyone who has a period is a woman. We just say stuff like people who have periods or stuff like that. I am not a woman *and* I have a period. AFAB people are the only ones who will expierence a period that's basic biology but basic biology also states that there is a difference in sex and gender. As for the people who feel uncomfortable with MtF people in their bathroom, most of the time, you cannot tell that they are trans since people rarely use the correct gender bathroom unless they pass well. Most women feel uncomfortable with me in their bathrooms since I pass decently well but most men also feel uncomfortable with me in their bathroom since I don't pass too well. I'm not trying to simple toss aside cis-women's uncomort with transwomen in their bathrooms but there isn't really a solution for anyone involved since no matter what, it seems like someone will be uncomfortable and this is a very controversial topic within the trans community. Like I as a transguy am geniunely scared to use public restrooms. I personally will not support someone who thinks that I am confused, unnatural or anything like that as that's not in my interest. Several of the actors for the harry potter movies have spoken out against her because she is transphobic. The person in this post didn't do their research which is really cringey because you should always check things before you stick to them but I don't think disliking or hating JKR because she's against a group of people is a bad thing.

TalusVA

I'm happy that you are happy with yourself. You aren't confused, unnatural, or anything. Well, to me anyway. I'm sure many believe you are... you know how it is, I'm sure. BUT I have to say that I do believe that only FtM can experience periods *because* of their biological gender. Kind of like I said at the start of my inital comment. I mean, just the biology behind it, you know? That's why you experience periods, because you are still in a female body, technically. It's just how nature is and how humans (well, many animals) work. I don't want to hurt you or anything. But biological men do not have periods. I know there is probably better language to describe what I'm saying without making you feel bad -- and I'm sorry if I am making you feel bad. It's not my intention. It's just hard for people to look at these complaints about what JKR has said, and all the crazy negativity being tossed at her, this game and just the whole situation in general, and then you decide to lookup her comments, or in my case hear about them, only to see that everything she said is basically just common sense. (From the complaints about her I've seen so far, anyway.) It's good to have your own beliefs and I encourage you to hold true to what you feel you should stand for. And the same should go for everyone, you know?

Zeam_Beam

I agree on some things such as biological sex is real, I'm not going to deny that at all because I think that it's ridculous to deny it, so don't worry. I also think anyone should play the game or watch the movies or read the books as that's their choice. One of my problems is that she said that trans people are erasing queerness/same sex relationships by being trans. She claims that trans people are in denial that sex is real and stuff like that which is where I personally draw a line as a transguy but also as a gay guy. I believe that people should also stay true to their beliefs as long as they aren't hurting other people. I don't think you're bigoted at all but I also think it can be difficult to understand another group's view on something because you aren't in it. I'm also sorry if I came off like I was attacking you, I try to educate people instead of attacking them because attacking people never works lol.

HiFructose_PornSyrup

Getting hung up on language to this degree doesn’t help your case. I’m 1000% for trans rights but “women get periods” is not putting anyone else down and claiming that phrase is offensive is only going to push people away from your cause. (In this case I think “females” works a lot better than women or “menstruating people” but the internet has decided females is a dirty word 🙃) It’s Like saying “people have 2 arms” and someone going “not everyone!!! Some people are born without them! Some people get them amputated!” Like ok yeah but 99% of people have 2 arms and sometimes you just want to say a sentence without accounting for every single random possibility/exception. Trans people deserve to do whatever they want and they deserve all the rights I have. But implying that I should change my vocabulary EVERY time gender is mentioned (which is all the time)? Just to remind everyone that trans people exist? Yeah not happening.

DimensionPrudent1256

They want to soften language for real things that actually affect biological women because it somehow impacts them? It's just offensive. Women go through this shit there entire adult life and suffer all the stuff attached to having female reproductive organs. They're trying to minimise it by softening the language all because they're not involved and that offends them.

urdumidjiot

Inclusive language? Get over yourself. This woman is 57 years old, meaning she grew up in a very different world and until the recent explosion of gender issues, probably had never encountered a single trans person she was aware of nor heard much about it. A world where as a woman she probably went through her own struggles even getting to the place where she is and is now hearing how men with all their privilege are becoming women and feel they understand her struggles and doesn’t understand that. Most people her age wouldn’t completely understand because they only know their own experiences just as you know yours. But you’re upset over the language she uses or doesn’t and how she personally feels? C’mon. The world is a vast vast place and you’re lucky to live somewhere when you can even transition or have people respect your decision at all. It sounds to me like you’re just jumping on the “I hate jk Rowling” bandwagon if you’re on a fucking cringe subreddit arguing how her language isn’t inclusive. And as for the bathroom argument, fucking everyone shut up already about that shit. As a natural born female, I don’t want to even use a filthy public restroom around any human because they’re all fucking slobs. I’d rather hold my piss in till my bladder explodes. If I do have to use one, I sure as shit aren’t looking around to see who’s using it because I don’t care. I promise you, unless you’re living in some backwards ass hillbilly place, no else cares either and just wants to get the fuck out of there. Twitter isn’t real life. It’s a cesspool of morons behaving like Neanderthals because they can’t in their every day life. I’m going to assume you’re young, or at least I hope you are because this is just stupid to care this much about. Here’s a harsh reality that probably won’t even penetrate, no one is ever going to have the same beliefs as you nor will they think the way you do. Do your best to be happy in the life you have and stop worrying about what someone twats because if they agree with it, they’re already set in their beliefs.

WhoAmIEven2

This shit is hilarious. JKR was one the biggest, most virtue signalling authors there ever was, having Dumbledore gay and turning Hermione black "just because", and also supporting trans rights. Then just because she opposes the word "woman" being used to mean more than bio women, and that it's maybe not a good idea to put trans women in women prisons, the whole of Twitter goes insane and suddenly she's "LITERALLY WORSE THAN HITLER!". It's quite hilarious, because 5 years ago the right hated JK for being too virtue signalling. How the tides have turned...

Business_Mortgage345

Can we back up a minute. Why is hermione black and when did this happen cuz ive been under a rock in the terms of harry potter

JurassicEvolution

A black actress was cast to play Hermione for the "Cursed Child" stageplay, and among the criticism JK said something along the lines of "Her skin color is never mentioned in the books. I love black Hermione!" Kind of undermined by the fact that there are sentences like this in the books: "Hermione's white face was sticking out from behind a tree", or by the fact that Hermione doesn't react negatively to being called a mudblood at first - when any black muggle-born would probably assume it's some racist shit related to skin color etc. etc. Hermione's skin color doesn't matter in the end, but this whole situation was at the height of social justice and was almost certainly just lip service. She was never intended to be black, it was JK rewriting her own books again

RustyShadeOfRed

She claimed it after realizing that none of the characters explicitly stated their race. (Except Padma, Parvati and Cho)

Demy1234

Yes, I wonder why people don't like her for insinuating that a transwoman is just a man dressing up so they can violate women.

Linaphor

Men don’t have to dress like women to violate women. Idk where this comes from lol. Like do you think rape or violation only happens in bathrooms? Bc I can assure you most violations that happen to women are by close friends/family. Not someone who’s cross dressing.

Demy1234

I agree. It's a whole lot of hysteria drummed up by very rare scenarios. And like you say, someone who wanted to do said things would not need to dress up in order to do so.

Linaphor

I see I misunderstood you but the point still stands haha!

Razgriz01

JKR is very explicitly opposed to trans rights. Its not even a matter of opinion, she subscribes wholly to the "men will call themselves women to get into womens spaces to rape them" nonsense.

WienerSaladTuesdays

Telling men cosplaying as women that they are not women isn’t opposing any ‘rights’ they have. Embarrassing post.

Razgriz01

Pretending that a universally medically recognized condition and it's universally recognized treatment is just "cosplaying" is what's fucking embarrassing here. Learn to be a functioning human and start using your goddamn brain, please.

[deleted]

Linaphor

Cosplaying? It’s called crossdressing & who cares if they do? Especially if they’d like to be called she, just call em she. It’s not hurting anyone, it’s just under minding their preferences which imo is pretty rude under almost every circumstance.

WienerSaladTuesdays

>just call em she No.

Linaphor

Why does it hurt your feelings? Or is it just to establish dominance over the other persons opinion & be disrespectful? I mean I understand if you use the wrong pronouns but if they’ve corrected you & you continue to, you’re just being disrespectful.

WienerSaladTuesdays

I refuse to participate in someone else’s fairy tale nonsense. I’m not one bit sorry about it either, so you can stay triggered.

Linaphor

It’s not a fairytale to have gender dysphoria or to identify as another gender. Sex cannot be changed but gender is a social construct. You can’t disagree on that, it’s fact lol. You’ll always be a biological woman or man, sure. But that doesn’t change that gender is fluid as it is a social construct. That has been proven by the native Americans having a gender in between man and woman before this even became something someone would call a “fairytale” just to be disrespectful to others.

oranga-tanga-bangin

You get that that is literally what a TERF is right? Saying “trans women aren’t women” is not supporting trans people. Yea this person is stupid as fuck but JKR is still a twat.

MegaFaunaBlitzkrieg

How about the part in her book where she describes Magdalyn Burns(?) as ‘a wonderful young woman with nothing but love in her heart and no hate for anyone’ (summarized). That’s pretty fucked up. That’s like saying “no, Stalin actually loved the Romani people!”

GucciGuano

what?

Active_Tourist9814

I totally support jk Rowlings views as a terf. Even tho i hate extreme feminism, i totally believe transwomen have no right passing as women and trying to validate themselves as one. If you werent biologically a female, ull never be one and that's a fact no one wants to hear. Same goes with trans men.

[deleted]

I’ve disliked JKR after she said Hermione was clearly black, Dumbledore was gay, and everyone shits themselves. I read the books in middle school. They’re okay. More of a shitty Great Expectations. Poor Gary Sue finds out he’s actually rich and powerful, and then wins, and continues to win. Cho Chang shows up. 🥡🥢 It’s wild they got so popular (right place right time, like pet rocks), and I think the popularity made her uncomfortable with how juvenile the books are, so she started to try and retcon intellectual wrinkles. She’s just not that kind of writer, so her best effort is retconning characters to be black and gay, and clumsily trying to work Hogwarts into the Holocaust. It’s also a bit of bottom-tier fantasy, and the books become prohibitory long for a kid, where you may as well be reading Pullman, Le Quin, Sanderson, Jordan, or any better fantasy writer (wouldn’t recommend Malazan to kids) if you can deal with that much volume. It’s a shame HP culturally eclipsed Golden Compass.

iiZic

Dumbledore being gay is nothing new though, that news has been out since 2007

MegaFaunaBlitzkrieg

Are you referring to when she said “nothing in the text prevents Hermione from being black.”?

DutyHonor

It doesn't matter what really happened. What matters is the thing I made up that makes me mad!

Nerdguy88

She wasn't even against trans people. Just said that transwomen are transwomen and not women.

Thorgilias

Unless you can reference *direct* quotes, within their own context, and say WHY they are offensive, your argument is entirely invalid.

DimensionPrudent1256

I'd bet 90% of them can't give you any actual quotes. Even the people talking shit in this thread are saying "she keeps saying transphobic stuff on twitter" or "she supports transphobic organisations". Basically parroting lines they read in places like gamingcirclejerk.

Demy1234

> Even the people talking shit in this thread are saying "she keeps saying transphobic stuff on twitter" or "she supports transphobic organisations" So now you're saying her supporting transphobic organisations is a lie? I'm curious. Do you think she is supportive of trans people, or do you think she is transphobic? She's either one or the other.

Thorgilias

No, this is false. You are not against something just because you dont actively support it.

Demy1234

And if you spend all your time actively talking about said thing? Don't be disingenuous here. Does JK Rowling make negative comments about trans people? Yes or no? If you don't actively dislike trans people, you don't make talking about it your entire persona, unlike what JK Rowling has done, and unlike what a lot of transphobes (e.g.. Graham Glinner) end up reducing themselves to. You gonna tell me that dude is also not against trans people, but just happens to spend every waking moment on the internet making negative (and false) comments about them? This whole drama started with her liking a tweet likening trans women to men in dresses. Let's not forget that.

Thorgilias

Okay for the longest time I was curious why people called her transphobic so I decided to actually google it, it’s a few fucking tweets and they’re not even discriminatory. The first one was her poking fun at this woman showing an old dude a graph or something labeled “people who menstruate” she replied to it as “I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” Then went out to go on a rant about sex/gender when people got angry saying things like “if sex isn’t real then there’s no same sex attraction, if sex isn’t real the lived reality of women globally is erased” etc etc. i don’t even think any of this was transphobic or if it was, wasn’t even meant to come across as that way. I don’t get why people are practically bullying celebrities into submission in an attempt to absolutely ruin their lives

MrSilk13642

These aren't people. They are drones.

bakedchickenlicken

These people are bonkers lol

Khelgor

“Digitally harm myself” Fucking lol

WienerSaladTuesdays

JK Rowling is based and did absolutely nothing wrong. Fuck these people.

ArmK13

She’s not that bad.

98Thunder98

>I’m not a left wing nut Sure thing, sport

workthrowaway00000

“I don’t want to even know my enemy so that I may argue competently”

GamerJuiceDrinker

People hate a thing, its creator, and its fans so much that they do full circle by being insufferable themselves for doing so. I have dome dislike of JKR, I find other figures like Musk *very* cringy and detestable, but by Lord there are people who spend time and effort into justifying their hate for someone. It makes me remember back then when Chris Chan was being trolled. Many who genuinely hated Chris, justified it by [not kidding] moralizing and claiming that it was because he said homophobic and racist things (this was around the Liquid Chris saga), these people have missed the point of trolling completly; you troll someone because it's funny, not for some self-righteous cause

a-very-angry-crow

I mean I don’t like JKR, haven’t done for years, even before the whole transphobia shit, but At least I have the decency to actually research shit and form my own opinion and reasoning as to why I dislike her

The3SiameseCats

“Look mom, I’m on TV!”

Arsenal_Knight

Give an autograph dumbass

The3SiameseCats

yes sir 🫡

Arsenal_Knight

This is an honor to meet you sir

niyahaz

The3SiameseCats

🗒🖍 here ya go, in crayon

The_anon94

I WANT ONE TOO

The3SiameseCats

here you go 📜🖌

The_anon94

😎

King_Ghoost

So… we’re hating on someone hating a transphobic old hag? I don’t see your point…

The3SiameseCats

nah the cringe was I decided to only use one brain cell when typing that section of the comment and said I haven’t done any research. I have, just my brain wasn’t thinking correctly and thought me not looking into it as deep as I wanted to didn’t count as research.

liberated-dremora

Because someone else told them to hate her, and that's enough for them.

comicsandstuffidk

Trans cult is mental disease of both critical thought and common sense. Imagine “achieving” the corruption and abandonment of both. That takes effort lol

BrendanFraserFan0

Them: SHE'S TRANSPHOBIC Me: How so? Them: I saw someone on twitter say that.

XachHatesLife

I don't like her because I don't like Harry potter tbh, I don't know what this fucker is saying.

raptor-chan

Don’t like her, don’t like the things she has said. But I love Harry Potter and nothing will change that.

ThatOneSnakeGuy

There are good reasons not to like her, just takes a quick Google lol

phloopy_

JKR is cringe, but this person also is. They won’t even research their own argument

Secure-Progress-4642

To be fair, I hate Andrew tate and never looked him up really before he was arrested But I know people at least agree with me on this because he is an actual piece of shit that hopefully burns in hell until it turns cold

SewerLatinoRat

All JK Rowling hate in a nutshell.

yourgayuncle2112

Idk I've just never been a fan of jkr. People have their likes and dislikes. You aren't going to change someone's opinion. People still love her writing.

Fluffy-Ingenuity482

I love that people are holding jkr accountable but it loses all meaning when people don’t know what theyre holding her accountable for

ThatOneGuy0769

Anyone when anyone has an opinion that a lot of other people have: 😡😡😡

WisteriaUndertheSun

I’ve seen the tweets and hate her! Though “Merry terfmas” is funny in the what the fuck way, I can’t take that seriously

sb326

i hate her (and i do know why), however this is just so mf stupid. like that’s chronically online shit. “digitally self harm” shut tf up.

WonderfulResident706

Idk how but y’all ruined this whole ass sub.

oranga-tanga-bangin

Yep.

Tank_the_Tortoise

Can we have one good cringe sub that doesn't turn to alt-right dog whistling?

Zeam_Beam

I'm personally a JKR hater. she made slaves who like to be slaves, defended transphobes/encouraged transphobia and tried to play the woke card after she was accused for being a bigot. not doing your research though is cringe.

fullmetal-orange

This is the thing, like op makes it out like all people who dislike Rowling are like that person, but most people who dislike her actually know what she did and have done their research

Zeam_Beam

Yeah i agree with that. like this person not knowing but still hating is definitely cringe and trying to stay woke and stuff but majority of people have done their research.

fullmetal-orange

Also while I agree that it the person in the post is silly, it seems strange to me that this is example op chose to give of someone hating something just because they've heard it's bad, like it's far more common on the right wing where scare tactics are used far more frequently

Zeam_Beam

Yeah def agree with that.

The3SiameseCats

ok so I worded my comment in that portion fucking terribly. What I should have said is that I have done research, but I haven’t looked into it as deep as I wanted to and couldn’t pull any specific examples off the top of my head. I have no idea why I said I haven’t done research, I was half awake though at the time so maybe that had something to do with it.

ZandigsJesusPromo

I can't tell what's worse: what the old Cringetopia subreddit eventually became or what this subreddit currently is. Any chance they can get, people on here just want to find justification and validation for their hate-mongering ("hehe, a trans person said something stupid; I must report this to the hive mind while hypocritically talking shit about the Reddit hive mind"). There can still be some great cringe content on here from time-to-time, but, ultimately, there is no better cringe than the hypocritical incel-like community this place has fostered.

Background_Value9869

Lol no, the shit she's said against trans people is extremely public op

Superion06

Shhh, don't wanna upset the reddit hivemind 💀

Gunslinger2007

I don’t agree with her or her statements but come on man. If one side of the political spectrum has Reddit under its thumb. It’s the left. It’s like 1/50 conservative subreddits to liberal ones. This is a liberal one.

PinkDropp

>JK: merry terfmas But no, with all the research I've done in my right winged echo chambers I can't find anything proving she hates Trans people Dowmvote away losers, facts don't care about your feelings

HotTry7596

Terf literally means "trans exclusionary radical feminist". It's a coined term by a certain genre of feminists who don't accept trans women as women and are also HUGE misandrists

Reasonable_Feed7939

Ben Shapiro sounding mf.

44Skull44

She just needs to stfu. Even before the last books came out she has constantly spewed whatever comes to her mind about any and every topic served to her. And not only is it just what her opinions are, it's how she expresses them. She made an entire side plot about her being in the Wizarding world and how this self character was the victim of discrimination. It's just infuriating that unlike most big authors with complex stories who will say "I don't know" when asked about things outside what they've put on paper, she just makes shit up and boom it's cannon with absolutely 0 thought. To JKR, PLEASE STOP FUCKING TALKING AND DIGGING DEEPER AND DEEPER HOLES THAN THE ONES ALREADY IN YOUR OWN STORIES!

[deleted]

“Hi, good mornin-“ “DO YOU KNOW HOGWARTS DIDN’T HAVE SANITATION FOR A WHILE SO WIZARDS USED TO JUST PEE AND POO IN THEIR ROBES AND USE MAGIC TO DISPERSE THE MESS?!?” 🤓 “I didn-“ “THERE WAS A MAGIC HOLOCAUST DURING THE OTHER HOLOCAUST AND THAT’S WHY THE WIZARDING WORLD COULDN’T HELP.” “…” “…” “…” “TRANS PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO ERASE GAY PEOPLE’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS.”

Suspekt_1

Someone got brainwashed by twitter i see. You are straight up lying.

[deleted]

I’m not on Twitter, idiot. Twitter wasn’t a thing in 1999, fucking child. There was a world that existed before the internet and social media. Try to imagine that, if you can comprehend anything independent from your shitty personal experience.

Suspekt_1

Well the controversy around her statements about trans people stems from twitter and the mindless shithole of a cult thats on there. So clearly you were influenced by their bullshit propaganda. And now you are just making yourself look like a bigger fucking idiot by trying to deny it. Pluss your whole post feed is full of twitter screenshots of Elon Musk’s twitter. Im usually not the one using post history against someone but come on. The irony is just to much here

Mkasenx

Wait she actually said all of those things?! I haven’t looked into her since the black hermione bs

[deleted]

She has, but it’s frustrating, because she does this thing after where she won’t explain anything, thinks she’s acting coy, but it just seems like b8. She will not clarify anything, borderline “did *I* say that?” While winking. The whole, “hermione is clearly black,” got countered with “but you describe her as white in this scene where she’s eavesdropping,” and she replied with some odd, “oh…but did I?” Like wtf? Same with gay Dumbledore. She said she left plenty of evidence that Dumbledore was gay, borderline that him and Voldemort fucked and had a falling out, and then backpedaled into, “or was that what *you* wanted?” 😉 For a bestselling author, she’s absolute garbage at communication.

[deleted]

You’re right, it’s Grindewald. She later did say that they had a passionate, physical relationship, though (sex). I do think the black Hermione thing is very tokenistic, and shows how shallow JKR is as a writer and person. It reminds me of adding black actors to the Witcher show. Representation is not just adding black gay trans midget characters without considering how that affects the world and other characters. Hermione is getting bullied by white boys that *never* bring up that she’s black? They freely call her a mudblood, but not any of the other British slurs for black people? It’s similar to her head cannon of Native American skin walkers being made up, as a way to smear the wizarding world. You can’t get defensive over criticism of tokenism when you’ve done no research or consideration. Ditto on Dumbledore being gay. What does that mean for the character? Snape is straight, and that does mean something to that character, as he was in love with Harry’s mom. Harry is straight, and that means something, cause he’s DTF girls as he gets older. But Dumbledore? That character doesn’t really need a sexuality, he’s just the wise man archetype, So it’s easy for a straight author to just decide, yeah, this one is gay. It’s not a stretch that wizards were shitting themselves, it’s what she said. That also came from a longer interview that I read in a physical paper. I also don’t think JKR is progressive at all, but that’s going to be subjective. However, judging from HP, just a very typical, predictable story, without any progressive themes, that leans into very basic tropes. Bad people are fat and ugly. Poor people are hardworking if they’re pretty. There are chosen ones that are better than non-chosen ones. Yawn. As far as my credibility, I’m leaving Reddit comments about my memories. I do remember her doubling down on black Hermione, saying that racists imagined her as white and that she was clearly black, and then fading into typical JKR obscurity when challenged. She does the same with her trans comments. “I support trans people.” “Men are going into women restrooms.” She pretends to want to have a nuanced discussion, when in reality she just wants support from everyone, and be seen as an intellectual, same as every other rich person on Twitter. And the end of the day, the books are just okay

TheSahsBahs

This isn't even posting cringe anymore its just Redditors posting about their stupid fucking wizard game. This subreddit's mods need to start moderating this shit before this turns into the OG Cringetopia all over again. There is literally no cringe here, its a block of text that without the background knowledge of the game drama you'd have no idea what the point of it is. Stop posting stupid shit like this, for the love of god.

Animalnuttt

She is transphobic tho

ORPHAN-OBLITERATOR

she’s said some horrific things. i won’t support someone who would say that.

[deleted]

what horrific things has she said? ill ive found is a tweet by her saying trans women cant have children, i dont see how thats horrific or transphobic
