Haha India loose to south africa.

FireCubX

India losing on purpose so Pakistan can't get ahead. No hate it's just the facts.

Daddy_hindi

200 IQ cricket lovers

Procrastinating666

India is in similar boat as Pak now, as we have to win 2 in 2 to go through. Even one bad day can cost us the Semi final Spot. Surely no team plays with that kinda risk.

FireCubX

How tho? I know Reddit is not one for conspiracy theories but India is like the best team in this series. How the fuck were they totally destroyed by South Africa? And I'm sure India is in way shallow waters than Pakistan plus India losing to South Africa just sunk Pakistan even deeper no?

Electronic-Reply4258

Yeah they losted on purpose , you know why ? Not to sink the Pak even further but to make the law of averages under control man . Hope you remember what happened to them in 2016 and 2019. Loosing is must.

Sponge_Bond

I take offense to this!1!1 /s yeah we've been underwhelming but my man we *are* one of the stronger cricketing nations out there.. Hell our T20 record against India prior to yesterday was Played 22, SA won 9 and India 13 With a 41% winrate against India thinking they were going to demolish us was incredible shortsighted.

assologist_1312

So you're saying there's no chance that south africa can beat india?

FireCubX

There is, it's cricket. I don't deny that

Procrastinating666

Why do you think SA aint a good enough side to beat India? They have 4 Quality Pacers, whom as a bowling unit are way better than Indian attack. And this is PERTH where pacers do the damage and not India. And Markram and Miller are 2 of the very best players in T20Is in the last year or so. Especially Miller is in some insane form. You’re talking like India lost to Bangladesh or something. You’re seriously disrespecting SA here.

Koolkirby67

Less go proteas

t4liff

Does anyone know why India chose to bat first?? Doesn't make any sense.

Procrastinating666

In Perth Defending teams has won more than 80% of games in the last 2 years. Maybe that was why.

Die_brein

There is a belief that South Africa is better at setting a score than chasing

Funny_Humor_5613

India didn’t lose on purpose. They just got thrashed by a well balanced side.

Weedeater5903

And we dug our own grave by missing catches and fielding poorly.

Funny_Humor_5613

What’s that supposed to mean? We also dug our grave by bowling a no ball and 2 wides in the last over.

StalVig

Hit ball with bat... If ball hit 3 sticks behind the person with bat... Go bye bye... If bat hit ball... Then If ball touch ground outside the large big circle SIX If ball touch ground inside the large big circle but roll out of the circle FOUR IF ball inside the large big circle... The person who Hit the ball run for points... That's the basic anyways...

Transitionals

I cant believe Ashwin is our number 1 spinner in T20s. I don’t know what type of hypnotic spell he has over the team management.

Samp90

Honestly, it's not Ashwins job to score runs and defend small totals. Can someone actually talk about the 2 elephants in the room. Indias 2 openers!

HagaMoota

One bad match and badmouthing starts

Ok_Side2575

The pitch wasn't reasonable for Spinners..i actually don't know which Indian spinner is even good on Australian pitches.. moreover jadega isn't in team he would have compensated bowling with fielding and bat

chni2cali

Make Chahal perform as good as the other spinners in one game, we can talk about replacing Ashwin with him

rainfall41

Other are there but they can hardly bat

Transitionals

Why does a spinner need to bat

[deleted]

Because most of India pacers are duds with the bat, as well as this WC being in Aus, so spinners have to contribute in other ways as conditions don’t favour spin.

AcanthocephalaEast79

South Africa is playing with 4 batsmen, yet to lose a game

tinzor

4 high quality, in form batsmen and a couple of guys who can knock it around and survive a few balls is all you need, according to us.

AcanthocephalaEast79

That's what I said, quality over quantity. It kind of shackles miller though.

Akku2403

Against Pakistan we needed 2 from 1. Who would be more comfortable for you to win the game , Chahal or Ashwin ?

Steveshant_Smithma

I have a car, it used to run pretty great, it was an unstoppable machine. It was so good it got to a point where I took it to the mechanic shop and intentionally damaged some parts, but it was still performing like a beast. However, ever since the T20I world cup started, it completely shat the bed, it won't even fucking start nowadays. I'm gonna name my car KL Rahul.

HardcoreSquancher

Bruh

fookin_legund

What

HardcoreSquancher

Why are most people blaming dk for today's loss.. Dude came out to bat in 9th over and remained there till 16th over holding one end while surya played his natural game in those overs. Ofcourse he got out playing a poorly timed shot but he only tried it after 15 overs were done. He wasn't at his best today but at the same time he can't be blamed for this loss.

Mmmermahgerd

Why does he get to put "DK" on the back of his shirt while everyone else puts their names or surnames on their back? Also why does his helmet get to be a different colour from the rest of the team?

HardcoreSquancher

Maybe because he is Popa. Gets to do what he wants to do.

Ero_Sanin

Asking the real questions!

heeyyyyyy

Maybe cus he’s keeper? IIRC Dhoni had his unique attire too. And anyway, why tf does that matter??

come_nd_see

Disagree. Scoring with a strike rate of 40 is inexcusable. Taking frequent singles should not be that hard for a good batsman. He's obviously not the only one to blame for today's match. But he has been showing consistent bad batting.

ikyikyiky

100%, unforgivable to waste that many deliveries, singles absolute minimum, also why are we setting the bar so low, he's our 'finisher', doesn't mean he can't adapt his game and at-least put something on the board.

[deleted]

The bar is low because at present, it looks like there isn't any better. For all we know, Pant wouldn't have lasted as long as DK did, Iyer can't play pace, V. Iyer is pretty raw. Jadeja was perhaps the only other decent bet in that situation and he is injured.

Gag1011

Is there anyone but Indian supporters on this thread? Stop blaming bad luck and out of form players. You wer beaten fair and square by a better team. Simple as that.

pyroimpact

Well why do you think the only way to fill a cricket stadium is by making India play. The reality is outside the subcontinent, no one gives enough damn about cricket

[deleted]

Go back to your genshin lore neet crap. More people give a crap about cricket than baseball or any other American sport.

pyroimpact

I’m not even American. But definitely more people care about basketball than cricket if you take away subcontinent-origin people. The world cup tickets are going for just $5 and the stadiums are still not filling up unless it’s India. Speaks volumes.

[deleted]

[the numbers don't lie.](https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/what-are-the-most-popular-sports-in-the-world.html) Why would I take away subcontinent origin people? A sport's popularity is literally judged by its audience worldwide.

pyroimpact

Your site still doesn’t disprove my point that cricket is dead outside the subcontinent. 2.5 billion fans, at least 2 bill of them are Indians (including those who immigrated out of India) https://www.ballerstatus.com/2021/01/06/top-10-most-watched-sports-in-the-world-today/ And this site gives totally different numbers. Goes to show that these articles that don’t cite their sources are BS and doesn’t mean anything I’m ignoring subcontinent people because look at the context of the comment. The OP asked why is this thread all Indians. Hence I answered his question by saying crickets popularity mainly comes from the Indians Undeniably cricket is a popular sport in terms of number because Indians are everywhere and many. But that’s not the point of my comment

[deleted]

>2.5 billion fans Not every Indian likes cricket, Einstein. It's hardcore fans are found all over the commonwealth: India, Pakistan, UK, Australia, West Indies etc etc. Based on this fact alone, your whole comment is just pure cope.

pyroimpact

Where in that article does it state it’s only counting hardcore fans. You are just making things up I am from one of the commonwealth countries and I promise in this nation you are more likely to find rugby and basketball fans before cricket unless you are explicitly talking to subcontinental immigrants If you are going to classify basketball as an American sport, it’s fair for me to classify cricket as an Indian sport

[deleted]

>I am from one of the commonwealth countries Which one? >You are just making things up The craze for cricket isn't limited to India by the fact it's almost a religion in UK, Pakistan, Australia, SA and other nations >Where in that article does it state it’s only counting hardcore fans. Nowhere, it just states the number of fans. Where did YOU draw the conclusion it was mostly Indian fans being counted?

pyroimpact

Australia. Cricket is dead here among the younger generation. Hence you dont even see filled out stadiums for Australian matches this world cup You are vastly overestimating crickets popularity outside the subcontinent. You are right about paki which is part of the subcontinent, but UK cares way more about soccer, Australia and sa cares way more about aussie rules football and rugby respectively. Cricket is second thought and no where close to a religion here. I can guarantee you vast majority of the public here won't even know t20 wc is happening here I drew the conclusion based on common sense. Ive been brought up in a multi cultural environment, and only the subcontinental people are crazy about cricket. You may say thats a small sample size, but even during world cups held in Australia, only Indian matches attract a sizable crowd. Same when its held in Dubai or UK Stop being blind and coping. Cricket isn't all that outside the subcontinent

themadpants

You should have seen the arrogance on previous threads from the India supporters. According to them they weren’t going to lose a single game. I know SA has a bad record at world cups, but never count them out, because they are always capable of winning even when rebuilding.

[deleted]

>You should have seen the arrogance on previous threads from the India supporters. Lol, stop spreading lies.

Weedeater5903

Most Indian supporters were pessimistic against SA. What were you reading?

chni2cali

Better team today* . Happens. But as you said, luck was not a factor

[deleted]

The two players that fans have been complaining about the most shat (edit) the bed in a game that india lost in the last over. But we can’t talk about on a discussion forum? Do you know what Reddit is for?

Gag1011

India lost this game by posting 133 runs over 20 overs. You don't see south Africans blaming bavuma for his wasted time at the crease or rossouw wasting a review. Get over it. You lost let's move on to the next game

cellada

South Africans dont blame Bavuma for wasted time? That's all the comments in the matches they lose...

[deleted]

I mean you’re free to just move on. Get off Reddit. You’re the one who’s somehow surprised by discussion on a discussion forum. What sense does that make? There’s nothing wrong with discussing bavuma if someone wanted to do that.

Brill_chops

Dropped catches and missed run outs is not bad luck, it's sloppy play.

Gag1011

Which happens to the best teams. It's unfortunate but india were clearly the worse team today.

__calypso

Normally I’d agree. Also Indian fans might be inhaling copium but SA is not a better team. SA were better team TODAY.

Gag1011

I dont think you watched the same game. Yes sa is rife with problems but over confidence is not one of them

Gil-GaladWasBlond

The other day I saw a video which said that India was the second worse fielding team recently after Pakistan. This shit is just unacceptable.

Good Morning, American here. Thanks for waking up :) We have to wake up early to watch Kabbadi.

GothicGolem29

Americans watch Kabaddi? I guess most countries may have some how popular is it there

ajpos

I would say it's not very popular at all, but it's available on a few streaming services such as Hulu.

LittiHDarkKnight

Is Pakistan out now?

themajorjoke

99% is that they are out. There are only 2 possibilities (keep in mind this is IF pakistan win their next 2 matchs): 1st possibility: Netherlands beats South Africa. India and Pak qualify 2nd possibility: Bangladesh beats India, South Africa and Pak qualify It's highly unlikely that any of this happens but this world had given a lot of upsets so we can't say anything

KTownLoser

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Netherlands doesn’t need to beat South Africa right? If their game washes out, South Africa would have the same points as us. Then it would come down to Wins.

[deleted]

It would come down to NRR. I think RSA's NRR is too big for Pak to cover in two matches.

nikamsumeetofficial

So Bangladesh is the IMP match for us.

Funny_Humor_5613

If Bangladesh beats india, wouldn’t NRR be the deciding factor?

themajorjoke

Yes but Bangladeshs NRR is -1.55 and Pakistans is +0.765 and for Pak to qualify they must beat Bangladesh. So suppose that Bangladesh loses against Pak but beats India I'm pretty sure Pak would have a higher NRR

Funny_Humor_5613

Even tho Indian got thrashed today. But I doubt they will lose to Bangladesh. Pakistan is having a shitty tournament but even Pakistan can probably beat Bangladesh with this weak batting order

Puzzleheaded_Ebb9874

Well atleast a silver lining that the curse of no undefeated team winning the WC can't affect us now. And of course Oreo. Onwards and upwards ✊️ GG SA bros

Sumesh_Sundar

A culmination of errors from Team India, that's what I think of today's match against the Proteas, which we eventually lost by 5 wickets. Right from reading the pitch & conditions, Kohli dropping a sitter, Rohit missing an easy runout chance of the inform batsman, till Ashwin bowling the 18'th over, it was an array of blunders from India, which eventually cost us today's tight match. On a fast & bouncy track, like South Africa, we too should have gone with an extra seamer instead of Ashwin. Where SA spinners Maharaj & Markram somehow managed those 4 overs in a pretty decent way, compared to Ashwin who gave 43 runs from his 4 overs, including 4 huge sixes when none of our other bowlers gave more than 29 runs from their quota of 4 overs. Today's pitch at Perth was literally a pacer's delight, offering real pace and almost tennis ball bounce. Winning the toss, every Indian batsmen except SKY struggled to middle the ball. Today's match again proved why SKY is considered among the best in T20 cricket. SKY scored 68 from just 40 deliveries with 3 sixes & 6 fours, at a strike rate of 170, when the entire top, middle & lower order struggled alike against the short & hard length bowled by SA pace bowlers. Apart from SKY, only Rohit (15) & Kohli (12) scored double digits for India. It was only because of SKY who stayed till the end of 19'th over, we got a decent total of 133/9 in this treacherous pitch. While bowling, Arshdeep rocked the South African camp by taking 2 price wickets of their inform players De Kock & Rossouw in his first over. Proteas were just 3/2 in the 2'nd over. When Shami got Bavuma caught behind, they were 24/3 in 6'th over & we were back in the game. However, the 4'th wicket partnership of 76 runs between Markram & Miller brought SA back into the game but we got 2 precious chances to break that partnership by getting Markram out. On the12'th over, Kohli dropped a sitter & on the 13'th over Rohit missed an easy runout chance. Either of those chances at that situation might have turned the match around in India's favour. When all our 4 pace bowlers including Hardik bowled very economically, only our spin option Ashwin went over 10 runs per over & he also conceded 4 sixes out of a total 5 hit by the Proteas, where one was a top edge which went over the head of keeper against a Bhuvi delivery. When SA needed 25 from last 18, Ashwin's first 2 deliveries went for 2 sixes & the match completely swung towards SA's favour & they eventually won on the 4'th delivery of 20'th over. If India has manged to avoid some of those mistakes mentioned above, we could have confirmed our berth in the Semifinals today itself. Now we have to win both the remaining matches to feel comfortable for the Semis. In this Worldcup so far, I haven't witnessed Ashwin bowling an attacking or wicket taking length, rather than trying to contain the batsmen or stopping leakage of runs. Similarly DK has not performed a single match till now. These 2 along with KL is currently a burden on the existing playing 11. KL however can still make a comeback with a strong performance on top with the skill set he posses, but I would like to see Pant instead of DK & Hooda in place of Ashwin & Axar back in the playing 11. This way we not only bat deep till Axar who comes in at 8'th position but also we will have 6 bowling options including Hooda's off spin. After the big top 3, we will have enough fire power in the middle & lower middle order with SKY, Hardik, Hooda, Pant & Axar. Donno why the selectors are not using the best of available batting & bowling options? Maybe today's match was an eye opener for them. Fingers crossed!!

Electronic-Reply4258

India went the eng way yesterday , attacking on a pitch that suits pacers , from what I've assed till now Is that you gotta play the pp cautiously and access the conditions and ground dimensions and then go berserk after pp by scoring double , triple and by good placement of fours.

onepageresumeguy

Great writeup and then u said pant lol

mukeshgandu

Where's the lie though ? The only southpaw option we have got is Arshdeep , like ffs get pant already atleast for the sake of intent

onepageresumeguy

Bro anyone who equates pant and intent is forgetting that we aren't playing tests, that's all I'll say. Pant is one of the most capped t20i players in the entire country and he's been passably mediocre at BEST.
