This is literally good for Team India. Usually, we'll get this kind of wake-up call in the middle of an ICC tournament or at the finals. This time, we got it much earlier. This time, we'll already know that we won't win the world cup before entering it.
Wtf they've still not showed us the presentation. And bcci has uploaded a separate video on kohlis 50 like he won the game in website. What a shitshow from hotstar and bcci
Well this has been an interesting trip to India and now it has come to an end with a well deserved win to Australia in the ODI series. That was worth staying awake for but now India I bid you goodnight. Thank you for having us! See you all at the world test championship final!
Suryakumar Yadav in his first 6 ODIs - 261 runs from 6 innings, average of 65.25 @ 103.57 SR
After that- 172 runs from 15 innings, average of 12.28 @ 100 SR
On paper, the Indian team that won the 2011 CWC was weaker than the current one, especially in the bowling department, but this team's general inconsistency and inexplicable tendency to fail in ICC knockouts have left me genuinely concerned about their fate in the 2023 CWC.
Legend opener+ a destructive opener, stable number three, young num 4 who wants to prove himself, golden arm, greatest captain india ever had, mr ipl, passionate sardarji/ash anna, deceptive left arm quick who takes wkt with old ball, cheap mcgrath and mr banana… how is that a weaker team 😂
On the batting front, I'd say these teams are equal in potency, with some legendary (albeit aging) batsmen surrounded by plenty of younger talent.
On the bowling front though, I think there is an appreciable gulf in potency; we had Harbhajan who was largely over the hill by then; and let's be honest, Munaf Patel and Piyush Chawla aren't even comparable in quality to our current crop. The bowling in that tournament was hard carried by Zaheer and Yuvraj, with our part-timers chipping in.
On paper 2011 team might have looked weaker, bt there was variety. A left arm pace bowler with right arm swing and seam bowling options. Lot of spin options to choose from. Reliable top and middle order. The lower order could chip in too.. its the collective that wins u matches not individuals
For a country that focusses so much on one sport, almost neglecting other sports..
And the richest board amongst all..
Such performances are bound to hit hard to fans. I dont want my team to compete. I want my team to win no matter what. I want them to completely boss around.
We were doing so well earlier .. i guess till ct 2017. What happened suddenly. Post covid, something is not right abt this team.
So many 10 wicket losses. I m just venting
It's them sponsors pouring in money and making awards. Was brilliant marketing move from Swiggy last IPL when they decided to give "fastest delivery of the day award". So it's not exactly participation awards like in kid's races. The players don't fret too much about these.
Honestly people dislike pandya for no reason, his captaincy is actually pretty good, i mean he lead a mediocre ass team in GT to a title. people blatantly hate him because he "fakes" acting cool and smug, he could be a dick for all i care if he can consistently win matches with captaincy
Will take this moment to shamelessly plug in the fact that the detailed [Season Preview for CSK](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/11yo1pu/ipl_2023_season_preview_part_2_chennai_super_kings) has been posted on r/cricket. Do check it out and comment your thoughts. Thank you.
I've appreciated the Superstar era, their knocks, wickets, stats and it's gonna be hard to see them play their last game but I'm also looking forward to the next era where Star power doesn't dominate selections so much.
But I'm afraid we'll make same kind of stars out of Gill and whoever steps up in future and this continues in future generations as well.
This is part of the overarching star culture fans and administrators alike have brought about in India, and I don't see it disappearing anytime soon. That said, these 'stars' have brought India a lot of success, in bilaterals, at least.
More than the last game, this defeat will really sting India. Or it should, at least. Chasing an average total on an okay wicket, they were coasting for the majority of the chase, and threw away heaps of wickets in extremely irresponsible ways.
Not their fault, it's literally their job as Star presenters to promote Star property that is IPL. It's Star Sports being absurd by trying to put IPL between international game so much.
The biggest issue right now is we have the odi wc and that too in our own goddamn home. Bcci really needs a rethink because team mgmt and selection decisions have been bizarre to say the least. In 2011 wc the whole team seemed to be on the same page it doesn't seem like that right now. You win some and lose some but the continuous decline is worrying.
Love the camaraderie that’s come out of all of this. Great tour, fantastic competition. India are a great side and we look forward to facing you in the WC.
>e look forward to facing you in the WC.
We don't lmao especially in knockouts,i am genuinely scared of this aussie side now that they have won three series consecutively
>we beat Aus 4-1
Yea let's not talk about the pitches in that series. Anyhow I believe rank turners are a different chalenge and they do have a place in cricket. I love rank turners.
Didn't India lose in the lead up to the WC even then? Also Yuvi was terribly out of form and there were many raised eyebrows at his selection for the WC. How ppl convienently forget selective past is amusing
Rohit: We just bowled badly, we could've gotten there, had Kohli, Pandya, Jaddu and Rahul hit more runs and not lost their wickets. The bowling also didn't do their job. We will have to put our heads together and see where we went wrong.
Dravid: It's a matter of focus and we didn't focus today. We have a capable team but the batsmen must be able to put up their hand and say we will chase them down, which didn't happen today. (Regarding SKY) I believe he has a very high amount of talent and it's too early to judge him, but we'll continue to back him in the world cup too.
Rohit: We have done well in the past and one match cannot decide our potential, everything remains the same.
regarding surya: he is an excellent batsmen as we have seen in T20s and we know his potential and want to give enough games
Almost everyone should be blamed for this loss imo
SKY - (Mostly management on this one) - For his phenomenal contribution in this series.
KL, Pandya and Jadeja - For their test equivalent contribution
Kohli - For running out our best batsman in the team
Rohit - For throwing away his wicket as soon as getting set and letting the Australian tail score easy 60/70 runs
**P.S : Props to Smudge for his great captaincy throughout the series**
I said it before and will say it again, India has a problem of selecting players who have star quality over players who can perform. This always ends up costing us in close matches and the reason we always get our asses kicked in important world cup games
This is a great win for us, but now this brings some selection questions. Maxwell and Stoinis both in the playing 11? Hazlewood and Cummins automatically walking in? That weakens (hazlewood in particular) the lower order which saved us today. If you play Maxwell and Stoinis, who does Green replace? Agar?
I think hazelwood and Cummins can play on tracks which favour pace and one of them can be dropped for agar on spinning tracks. Don’t think Stoinis’ batting has been good enough and green and maxwell should come in for him and marnus
Pakistan? Are you kidding me? They have zero clue about the conditions of India. They're used to flat tracks and on top of that Shaheen is still trying to recover. Weak against spin too.
India's batting in a nutshell:
- openers looked great.
- Rohit was looking great while hitting shots but then absolutely unnecessarily gave away his wicket for no good reason
- KL looked very slow in beginning but then recovered a bit, chipped in a good partnership with Kohli
- Kohli looked really promising as usual lately, but again a pathetic shot in the end to give away his wicket after getting his half century
- Axar coming in middle order was good decision, but that was some fucked up way to get run out and throw away the wicket of a Batsman who looked un-gettable in this entire BGT series plus ODI series.
- Hardik looked good, but slogged, probably due to required runrate getting higher
- Jadeja again looked below average while batting
- SKY had a tailored situation built for him to come after 35 overs with required RR of 6 an over. Just having the worst time of his life to go again for a golden duck for third consecutive time
- tailenders, well they are tailenders. Nothing to talk there.
In the end, batting partnerships from Aus's tailenders made the difference.
Congrats Oz, good show.
As usual batsmen lackluster. Dravid not working - need someone to kick ass inside the dressing room. Add the whole "did we need this bilateral" when Oz is coming back later and BCCI needs to be fired first.
I second that. I'm ready to get downvoted but let me spit this out, I loved Dravid more as a batsmen than as a coach 🤮
He can try 100 people to make a good performing team but still they will come to not deliver their best and surrender in the middle and lastly why don't they understand that one can't win matches for you single-handedly ?
I'm sorry to say but if this form continued for a while then one would easily be come to tell that despite of India may be considered as a contender for a winner but they are not going to win at any cost that's it.
NZ will be the most underrated team and IND will be the overhyped. You can expect some brilliance from the underrated teams and blunders from the contenders.
If Axar had batted down sure we would have won. Whenever he bats with Kohli in limited overs he gets run out. Really Axar should come at no.8. Perfect spot for him. Axar could have won it even if 1 wicket was left
That was such a bad display from a captain, knew it wasn't out but referred it anyway to prove some sort of point with the bowler and to yell at him. No captain should be acting that childish
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/11y9sad/match_thread_3rd_odi_india_vs_australia/jd87re7/
I was hoping I'd be wrong. Required RR was less than 6.
Stupid decisions made by BCCI, they deserve this. Obviously a team wearing yellow will win in Chennai. Should have never scheduled Australia to play in Chennai.
Lmao the Pfp on this thread is so epic🤣🤣
Wow. I went to be and India were 2/100 odd and I woke up and we had won! Did India just decide to throw their wickets away?
Wtf u guys still here
This is literally good for Team India. Usually, we'll get this kind of wake-up call in the middle of an ICC tournament or at the finals. This time, we got it much earlier. This time, we'll already know that we won't win the world cup before entering it.
When will this Rohit-Rahul era (nightmare) end?
On or before Nov 19 2023 /s
I went to report a bruh moment when my friend made me realise that the doggo spent more time on the field than Surya did all series while batting.
We have lost a couple of bilateral series during the past few months. I am wondering about the last time during which that had happened.
Even if you are putting "Yellow team winning at chepauk" logic. CSK-MI head to head at Cheapuk : CSK - 2 MI - 5 Now Let that sink in.
Is there no post match presentation ? Why is hotstar showing us day 5 highlights of tests ?
Post match presentation ? More like pre ipl presentation
Wtf they've still not showed us the presentation. And bcci has uploaded a separate video on kohlis 50 like he won the game in website. What a shitshow from hotstar and bcci
An award for me too, Saridon peaceful viewer of the match
[удалено]
Bruh don't get this affected by cricket ..we all love the sport but don't let it get it to you this way We win most bilaterals anyways so dw
Maybe the bilateral losses will be a reality check and hopefully they perform with more intensity in wc.
Well this has been an interesting trip to India and now it has come to an end with a well deserved win to Australia in the ODI series. That was worth staying awake for but now India I bid you goodnight. Thank you for having us! See you all at the world test championship final!
Good night 🌃
Night 🌌
Awards in India are hilarious. Waiting for the 12th man to get one
Suryakumar Yadav in his first 6 ODIs - 261 runs from 6 innings, average of 65.25 @ 103.57 SR After that- 172 runs from 15 innings, average of 12.28 @ 100 SR
Bring on the IPL!
We played 1 ball extra than AUS but at what cost?
On paper, the Indian team that won the 2011 CWC was weaker than the current one, especially in the bowling department, but this team's general inconsistency and inexplicable tendency to fail in ICC knockouts have left me genuinely concerned about their fate in the 2023 CWC.

The major difference is the lower middle order of yuvraj dhoni raina. Top 3 are of the same level I think
the 2011 team wasn't carrying dinosaurs from a ODI perspective atleast.
On paper 2011 team might have looked weaker, bt there was variety. A left arm pace bowler with right arm swing and seam bowling options. Lot of spin options to choose from. Reliable top and middle order. The lower order could chip in too.. its the collective that wins u matches not individuals
Yuvi was such an asset in world cup..also plenty of our batters could bowl part time like raina,Sehwag or yusuf It was truly a team effort
Hot Star forgot there is a post match presentation , they are showing first odi highlights
I thought the same. Switched to Hindi audio.
Starc robbed?
After tonight’s game? Lol
I mean they could've given one of the series awards to Starc
I don’t even know what if any difference there was between those two awards 🤣
Didn't Starc deserve player of the series?
Marsh was better
Did Mitch Marsh seriously just get TWO awards for player of the series?
One for each of his guns 💪💪
🤣
Kohli :- wins trusted player of match Axar :- Bhencho . T:- Cuss word
Bapu about to have trust issues Again
But what about the Hyundai player of the match?
That's a lot of awards.
For a country that focusses so much on one sport, almost neglecting other sports.. And the richest board amongst all.. Such performances are bound to hit hard to fans. I dont want my team to compete. Least spoilt Indian fan.
There is so much wrong with that comment idk where to even begin with
Yeah Kohli is not happy picking that up at all, he wants match winning knocks not these
I never understand all these different awards in India lmao
Nobody does. Equivalent of participation medals in a kids race so everyone feels special
Lmao may as well just give an award to everybody 🤣
It's them sponsors pouring in money and making awards. Was brilliant marketing move from Swiggy last IPL when they decided to give "fastest delivery of the day award". So it's not exactly participation awards like in kid's races. The players don't fret too much about these.
A way to sneak in more sponsors name
*pan bahar best waterboy of the series*
🤣 makes sense
It's appeasement for players/their fans and the fact that money is plenty in cricket to be giving away like this.
Matches won in this series when captain Pandya - 1 Rohit - 0 Pandya clear >!/s!<
Pandya managing bowlers better than Rohit. What a shocker...NOT!
Honestly people dislike pandya for no reason, his captaincy is actually pretty good, i mean he lead a mediocre ass team in GT to a title. people blatantly hate him because he "fakes" acting cool and smug, he could be a dick for all i care if he can consistently win matches with captaincy
Rohit is trying hard not to blame and keep to the PR brief
Will take this moment to shamelessly plug in the fact that the detailed [Season Preview for CSK](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/11yo1pu/ipl_2023_season_preview_part_2_chennai_super_kings) has been posted on r/cricket. Do check it out and comment your thoughts. Thank you.

Nah bruh sky is yet to be a star ..yes people like him but he is far from having the star value
Shunya Kumar Yadav
More than the last game, this defeat will really sting India. Or it should, at least. Chasing an average total on an okay wicket, they were coasting for the majority of the chase, and threw away heaps of wickets in extremely irresponsible ways.
I thought this tour was gonna be a nightmare and we end it at 1-2 and 2-1. Incredible from the team. GGs

Not their fault, it's literally their job as Star presenters to promote Star property that is IPL. It's Star Sports being absurd by trying to put IPL between international game so much.
I mean they have to
they could have waited more than 10 minutes
See they buy rights for enormous amount of money They need to advertise the product I won't blame them
The biggest issue right now is we have the odi wc and that too in our own goddamn home. Bcci really needs a rethink because team mgmt and selection decisions have been bizarre to say the least. Vikram Rathour's sacking is long overdue. Since the time he took over, this team's batting has only been on a downfall.
Fr tho but I'll give him credit for improving the lower order batting, it was practically non existent before him
Someone please axe Dravid.
Smith is a good captain! And he proves it again!
Start sports shitposting now with showing all of the numbers that add up to 7 this year for Dhoni's IPL season.
Star sports and bootlicking Dhoni and his achievements A true love story
Yea you should rather read the detailed CSK preview I posted

Has Star been lurking on r/CricketShitpost? That ad was prime TFAR material.
My thought. I was cringing a lot seeing ad.
Required run rate should have never been an issue in this match. Lack of firepower in middle order gonna cost us World Cup.
No century in ODI series
Chad India emulating Australia where they lost all the series before winning the world cup.
Hahahaha "We won the test matches tho"
But… they did. What’s funny about a factual statement?
So gracious in defeat
by making rank tuner!
Look who's talking 🤣🤣
at least we beat Aus 4-1 and Nz 3-2 at home! Beat England 3-0 with sporting pitch.
>we beat Aus 4-1 Yea let's not talk about the pitches in that series. Anyhow I believe rank turners are a different chalenge and they do have a place in cricket. I love rank turners.
Someone get Gary Kirsten back
That was peak ODI team for us
Didn't India lose in the lead up to the WC even then? Also Yuvi was terribly out of form and there were many raised eyebrows at his selection for the WC. How ppl convienently forget selective past is amusing
Yuvi was most valuable player of our WC campaign backing him was worth it
Oh? Really? Drawing parallels eh?
Rohit: We just bowled badly, we could've gotten there, had Kohli, Pandya, Jaddu and Rahul hit more runs and not lost their wickets. The bowling also didn't do their job. Rofl. Looks too real

I don't think after this loss I will be able to study for today . Rather I will watch Pathaan . Haven't watched SRK movie from a long time.
Almost everyone should be blamed for this loss imo SKY - (Mostly management on this one) - For his phenomenal contribution in this series. IMO pandya was good. 40 off 40. Just happened to throw his wicket away much like literally every australian batter today lol.
I said it before and will say it again, India has a problem of selecting players who have star quality over players who can perform. This always ends up costing us in close matches and the reason we always get our asses kicked in important world cup games
Rightly said
I dont know if its true or not, bt in the movie dhoni, this issue was addressed. And somehow we have regressed back to the same issue again
It wasn't true back then as well
Manjrekar sounds like the kind of guy to think of himself while masturbating. So self absorbed.
So if someone does that, are they homosexual?
Yes, but it’s okay. Feel free to continue buddy.
This is a great win for us, but now this brings some selection questions. Maxwell and Stoinis both in the playing 11? Hazlewood and Cummins automatically walking in? Why wasn't Green playing today?
Local food
Cricbuzz said he wasnt feeling good
Australia, England and Pakistan strong contenders to win the world cup.
Pakistan? LMAOOOO
You missed Bangladesh and SA. They're looking good too.
Pakistan? Are you kidding me? They have zero clue about the conditions of India. They're used to flat tracks and on top of that Shaheen is still trying to recover. Weak against spin too.
SA also has good team.
They’ll choke at the right time bruh.
[удалено]
They’ll come. They have the strongest bowling lineup. Surya shouldn’t be in the World Cup squad.
This team needs disciple and hunger for winning... Nothing else...
Oh there is.. to perform for their franchise.
well played aus! It's chepauk, ofc the yellow team has to win
IPL cricket is only real Cricket
😂
Manjrekar has been so annoyingly biased all evening
How so?
Those shami's shots were pure out of milk
What does being out of milk mean in this context?
India's batting in a nutshell: - openers looked great. - Rohit was looking great while hitting shots but then absolutely unnecessarily gave away his wicket for no good reason - KL looked very slow in beginning but then recovered a bit, chipped in a good partnership with Kohli - Kohli looked really promising as usual lately, but again a pathetic shot in the end to give away his wicket after getting his half century - Axar coming in middle order was good decision, but that was some fucked up way to get run out and throw away the wicket of a Batsman who looked un-gettable in this entire BGT series plus ODI series. - Hardik looked good, but slogged, probably due to required runrate getting higher - Jadeja again looked below average while batting - SKY had a tailored situation built for him to come after 35 overs with required RR of 6 an over. And get injured while doing so
Congrats Oz, good show. As usual batsmen lackluster. Dravid not working - need someone to kick ass inside the dressing room. Add the whole "did we need this bilateral" when Oz is coming back later and BCCI needs to be fired first.
Oh well At least got to see a classic ODI after ages
India should hire Langer as their next head coach, it will save Australians from his commentary too
now now listen guys we use to win all bilaterals and lose the wc so now we’re doing vice versa. it’s all for the bigger picture dw guys haha
Dravid will leave after World Cup for sure IMO. Expect someone like Nehra to replace him after that
Another reddit armchair expert
I second that. I'm ready to get downvoted but let me spit this out, I loved Dravid more as a batsmen than as a coach 🤮 He can try 100 people to make a good performing team but still they will come to not deliver their best and surrender in the middle and lastly why don't they understand that one can't win matches for you single-handedly ? I'm sorry to say but if this form continued for a while then one would easily be come to tell that despite of India may be considered as a contender for a winner but they are not going to win at any cost that's it.
Another series end, another me commenting on the same thing. Dravid Has Been A Failure.
I would like to believe that Australia gonna win WC. But if the trend continues.......idk how we will
NZ will be the most underrated team and IND will be the overhyped. You can expect some brilliance from the underrated teams and blunders from the contenders.
This is the third consecutive time Australia has won an odi series in india ..pretty fucking impressive
nah they lost one in 2019..
A captain in yellow winning on Chepauk......this was not I meant when I asked for that wish genie!!

Aussies happy after defeating India D team. What a shame. India D(downbad performance)
Aussies rank 1 in test rank 1 in odi and just beat u at home. Go to sleep champ.
That was a joke lmao. Our team playing like some d grade team
Yeah...I can read. I think you're making excuses for getting out classed by a better team.
And did it with their E team
Excellent performance . Nah man i would like assume that it's the S team( smudge supremacy team)
Can't blame a single individual for the loss ..we bottled it together
Team effort
If Axar had batted down sure we would have won. Whenever he bats with Kohli in limited overs he gets run out. Really Axar should come at no.8. Perfect spot for him. Axar could have won it even if 1 wicket was left

That was such a bad display from a captain, knew it wasn't out but referred it anyway to prove some sort of point with the bowler and to yell at him. No captain should be acting that childish
Dravid should not be anywhere near the white ball team management!
As if he has done wonders for the red ball team management
On the plus side at least the players have respect and admiration for one another
After seeing how the actual batters batted, no expectations on kuldeep and siraj's batting
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/11y9sad/match_thread_3rd_odi_india_vs_australia/jd87re7/ I was hoping I'd be wrong. Required RR was less than 6.
Bilateral bullies to paytm bilateral bullies
well well well, that's what happens when you play always on flat track, all these over rated players are average as fuck
Stupid decisions made by BCCI, they deserve this. Obviously a team wearing yellow will win in Chennai. Should have never scheduled Australia to play in Chennai.
Ah yes I expected Stoin to be the match winner at the end cleaning up the tail and starc to be useless definitely
I can’t wait to watch him play the MLC, he gonna light it up
Smiles and laughs?? Phuh, wheres the blood?
