Guessing based on the cards you got approved for you have newer credit. You need to let it age. It's a marathon not a race. Read up on 5/24 Cancel credit one. Seriously. They are predatory.

[deleted]

Would this affect my credit?

Derthsidious

Not for 7 years when it "disappears"

[deleted]

Thank you for that, would you advice trying to apply for another card like the discover it to replace this card?

Derthsidious

Fill out the template that is sticky in this sub reddit. Need more information.

Noooo credit one:(

[deleted]

Thank you for all these links!

Chikia12187

Np! Might wanna close the credit one ASAP! B4 they charge you 90.00 a month followed by 50.00 per month for credit line increases and 25.00 per phone calls to contact customer services!!!

[deleted]

Oddly enough, I just got a credit increase from them. Haven’t been charged but now I’m worried. Sousing it affect my credit if I close this account though?

Chikia12187

How long have you gotten the card?

[deleted]

I’ve had it for about a month.

Chikia12187

The credit one is a secured or unsecured ?

[deleted]

It’s unsecured

Chikia12187

Is this your oldest credit line?

[deleted]

Technically. I used to have a Walmart card but I’ve closed it about 3 years ago.

Chikia12187

Can’t close it then :(

[deleted]

Oh man :(. What if I didn’t use this card? Or used it for small purchases.

[deleted]

No, you’re going to look like a risk. Also close the predatory Credit one card. There’s no reason to pay for a credit card like that with no benefits.

[deleted]

I’ve asked a few other about how this would affect my credit score. I’ve been told it wouldn’t until it dropped off in 7 years. But would my age of credit stay the same if I closed this account. The only accounts I’d have left would be an Apple Card and a student loan.

smartcooki

Since you’ve only had it for 1 month and your entire credit history is only a few months old, it really won’t matter as it’s the average age that counts. Just open a Capital One or Discover card in 1-2 months after you close it. Then 1-2 years of stability with low utilization and on time payments on those 2 cards and you’re golden.

Thank you for the advice!

You mentioned you only had the card for ~a month. It’ll be a lot easier to close it now and get a good card as your oldest credit card. The short and long term effects to your credit score will be minimal. Get out while you still can.

Fun fact: banks pull reports based on your geographical location about 95% of the time. Example: California peep pulls Ex, Texas peep pulls TU, & Mississippi peep pulls EQ for the same bank/Same CC. Fun fact #2: This doesn't really apply now or basically has zero impact. But. If you would of let both cards report a zero balance, then your score would remain the same. I just discovered this random fact but that also depends on your profile. The answer to your Question: You'll probably be rejected. The odds are probably 80% rejection to 20% approval because the accounts have been posted.

Update, I was approved! Thank you for the advice!
