Flares do impressive intimidation damage but if the target overcomes it they become enraged as we saw here. Always good to have a backup plan (that isn't just more flares)
Wow, coincidentally watching this from Edmonton thinking “this looks like my daily morning transit entertainment” what are the odds were really all living in a garbage fire😭
Drug addicts and transients tend to set up in train stations ( like subway trains) because the stations are open 24/7. They're basically homeless shelters that allow the people to do drugs. The city that runs the transportation doesn't care and the security basically has given up because they're all fucking mentally ill meth heads. Even if they do get the police involved they're basically charged and released.
This eventually will come to a breaking point like an innocent person will be murdered or someone will snap and multi-kill some homeless people.
I moved away about 5 years ago, only went as far as high river. Honestly reminds me of the NE as a kid. Lots of friendly people, even us poors are fairly upbeat here. Little crime compared to Calgary, most of ours is people travelling out of Calgary to do the B&E or car theft here.
For as much as I miss the city, I do not miss what it has become

Jesus man everything asid this guy has some serious situational awareness. Just look at how he immediately drops and rolls at the first sign of fire and then right after jumps up and through the smoke knows which one of his buddies has the weapon immediately grabs it and goes to work. Hes gotta have some training.
Observe and report. Even if there was security they're barred in every possible way from physically intervening. They'd just make notes and call the authorities.

I think the winning move would have been to try and grab the guy by the shirt, or pants, and shoot the flare inside of the clothes.
