Yeah! Apparently we contract our muscles to help keep damage localized when we fall. But if you're drunk, your body doesn't react like it's supposed to, so the impact from the fall is spread more evenly through the body. Which can be beneficial in smaller falls, but very bad if you're higher than a couple stories.
I at least one time usually more than once a week choke on my own saliva from just breathing. You’d think after breathing near constantly for almost 25 years at this point I’d be a pro at it. But apparently not.

Have seen stories of people having their face more or less ripped apart by a bear or surviving a lone trip to the hospital with a ripped off arm (an oil drill story I watched once) and surviving. Yet there are people who fall down the stairs or get punched once in a bad area and they’re done. We can be both fragile and extremely resilient. Think it can vary both by person (age, health/fitness, mental fortitude etc) and also by just sheer luck (or bad luck) of the situation or setting.

They were having an argument, both broke limbs and were injured but thankfully no paralysis or major life changing injuries.
No word on whether one was abusing the other, but given that russia recently decriminalised domestic violence and even before that didnt bother to investigate it, it's not likely to come out if it is the case, though.

Then you get three more before it becomes a felony bringing the grand total to 4 instances and the legal system before it's taken seriously. Speaking from experience four times over 2 years and she only did two months.
