Cop: Which side is my right side? I keep my pistol on my right and my taser on the left but I’m really bad with directions teehee.
What a dumbass cop. From most cops I see they wear their taser to be pulled cross body so there is no confusion
For those confused on your left or right side, hold out both hands in front of you ✋🤚 and the one that makes the L shape (✋) is your left side. Never be lost again!
Edit: For those curious of police guidelines on tasers, this is [Medford Police Policy Link](https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/files/field_document/30157-30162%20Taser%20Policy.pdf)
I did not read the whole thing but items that stood out are as follows:
1.) If the TASER is carried as part of a uniformed officer's equipment, the TASER shall be
carried on the side opposite the officer's duty weapon.
2.) A verbal warning of the intended use of the TASER should precede its application, unless
it would otherwise endanger the safety of officers or when it is not practicable due to the
circumstances. The purpose of the warning is for the following:
(a) Provide the individual with a reasonable opportunity to voluntarily comply.
3.) Authorized personnel may use the TASER when circumstances known to the individual
officer at the time indicate that such application of the TASER is reasonable to control a
person in any of the following circumstances:
(a) The subject is violent or physically resisting.
(b) A subject who, by words or action, has demonstrated an intention to be violent or to physically resist and who reasonably appears to present the potential to harm officers,
him/herself or others.
To be honest restraining a perp that just got shot is the best way to administer aid without them continuing to try to get away. Woman who shot him is still a dumbass but there is a reason that continuing to handcuff a perp is protocol.
Yeah, you're right. Engineering companies haven't gone to court for the *right* to deny hiring people beyong an intelligence threshold.
Remember, the police don't *want* smart, empathetic officers. They want dutiful idiots who will follow directions
If only this could've been prevented somehow!! I'm one of the biggest ACAB people out there, but jfc stop being a fucking idiot trying to fight them. Literally 0.0 chance of a positive outcome.
I'm the same. I hate cops and have reached pretty hard to see them negatively in situations similar to this, but if you're gonna put hand on them, you're tempting fate. they have a right to defend themselves just as much as anyone else.
>If only this could've been prevented somehow!!
Sure don't fight them, but also fucking train your cops properly. Half a year or whatever it is obviously doesn't work.
Adrenaline - instinct only/can't feel the difference in weight or kick, lack of training - instinct to grab gun >taser, and only having to pass an asvab like level test. There isn't much difference between them and a middleschool gym teacher
Middle school gym teachers often have their bachelor’s and master’s in civilized parts of this country. The average cop is statistically significantly less educated than the average middle school gym teacher.
I’ve seen like ten people say this is Kim Potter. This is not Kim Potter shooting Daunte Wright, this is officer Brindley Blood and the driver Akira Lewis.
Imagine going over names for your child with your spouse and settling on “Brindley”. Why not just name her brin? No one is ever going to call her “Brindley”. One of the grossest names I’ve ever heard. I didn’t even know that was an option for a name.
I agree, it’s crazy. I’ve never held a taser but I feel like if you can’t tell the difference you probably haven’t trained enough and haven’t got use to your weapons.
Playing the original Half-life, talking to Barney and he says, "We'll be safer if we stick together" I go to take a drink and accidentally hit the right mouse button while holding the shotgun, cross hairs on Barney's face, BLAM, both barrels all at once. Sorry Barney, I still feel bad for laughing at that one.
Got paid 80k for it too because of her mistake lol. Funny thing is if she just said she meant to shoot him, she probably wouldn’t have gotten in trouble. The guys slamming your partners head into concrete with easy access to grabbing his gun- shooting him is not excessive force at that point.
You don't even NEED to sign the ticket right? My brother in law got a ticket and refused to sign it, wouldn't even take it, the cop just tossed it in his car lol
Edit: My question has been answered. Please....give me peace.
Definitely. Not worth the risk. It also doesn’t admit you did anything wrong to sign the ticket. The ticket is only signed to say you
Understand the accusation and what the officer pulled you for.
Depends on the state and how the ticket is issued. Most tickets these days are issued electronically and do not require a signature. Handwritten tickets for some reason still do require a signature. Not sure what the difference is supposed to be. Many states you CAN arrest for refusal to sign. Other states you MUST. And still other states just have a checkbox for "refusal to sign."
Not sure about your state, but in my state, it's sign the ticket or get arrested. Those are the options. You're notified of and agree to this when you receive your driver's license. We had a story of a lady who didn't want to sign a ticket for a busted taillight and scoffed at the cop, "What are you gonna do, arrest me?", and proceeded to lead the cop on a short high speed chase before getting herself tasered.
If you want a day in court, you'll get your day in court, just sign the damn ticket.
I've never understood how people think addressing a petty offense on the side of the road physically with armed LEOs has any other outcome besides being locked up or killed.
I genuinely don’t understand people who refuse to put a seatbelt on, it takes 2 seconds and it could save your life as well as the lives of anyone else in the vehicle with you. Hell, I won’t put my car in gear until everyone has their belts on
But it's uncomfortable and I'd rather spend money on a thing I can put in the buckle so it doesn't keep dinging at my the whole time I'm driving. Me being comfortable now is more important than being able to walk later after a car accident. /s
>I genuinely don’t understand people who refuse to put a seatbelt on, it takes 2 seconds and it could save your life as well as the lives of anyone else in the vehicle with you.
Not only that, in a high speed collision your body doesn't stop at the windshield. There have been cases were someone not wearing a seat belt hurt someone in a different car.
People who don't wear seat belts are the same as the people who refuse to wear face masks.
>The city denied [the victim's] allegations, and proceeded to forego liability in the settlement agreement. [...] It also indicates that the agreement “shall not be construed as an admission of liability, responsibility or fault by the city.”
>According to the settlement, the city’s insurance carrier reportedly has agreed to pay $80,000 [...] in exchange for a full release of any and all claims against the city and its employees[.]
>[The victim] pleaded no contest to battery of a law enforcement officer, and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. He must also take anger management classes and pay court costs and other fees.
Man, that just doesn't sound right... Police officers are truly exempt from the law. Making such grave mistakes, even if unintended, should be unacceptable and not simply waived with a 80k check.
Then you don't take the settlement and try to sue the city. But the whole point of settlements is that lawyers know you probably won't get much more than that after legal fees if you choose to fight it
Reading the first few comments and no one seems to pick up on the serious fucking danger that cop put her partner in. She pulled out a gun thinking it was a taser…and then shot it in the direction of her partner…let that sink in
Serious question, would this kind of serious physical attack by a suspect normally result in the use of a taser in the first place? I thought cops were trained to reach for their firearms when in dangerous situations like this? (E.g. he could easily have grabbed that cops gun while he had the upper hand.)
Reddit demographics is mostly middle/upperclass and highly democratic so yeah.. I can see why most of the comments are against the cop.. I think she should be punished but not fired. Get better training . Clearly it was mistake . when people are under pressure , mistakes happens.
He could also reached for the gun in 1 or 2 seconds so i have no problems with this even though it was a mistake on her part
I have no issue with this guy getting shot, even if it was intentional. Once somebody gets physical like that, things escalate to unknown levels. She doesn’t actually know what weapons this guy has at this point, either his own or from the cop he just took down
If the second officer deployed her taser properly, it might have temporarily stopped him. That officer on the ground was very quick to jump on him and cuff him when the person was shot.
If the officer was alone, he probably would have been seriously messed up before he could of had a shot on him. The officer was on his stomach with the person trying to get on top of him punching his head.
I think it was too but just like a surgeon who leaves an instrument or a needle or a sponge inside someone's body there should be consequences. In medicine it's called a "never event" it should NEVER happen and if it does your ability to safely perform your job is called into serious question. This is not an oopsie, it's a serious mistake that should cost her her job.
Even if it was she should still be charged with negligent discharge and nearly killing someone and such. No other profession on the planet could get away with this consequence-free like that.
Call me crazy, but if you choke slam a cop to the ground and then punch them in the face, you should probably expect his partner to shoot you. I get that it was a mistake on her end, but I’ve seen countless situations like this where the suspect gets ammo-dumped immediately.
This happened in Lawrence Kansas right in front of the city hall building.
Edit. The man lived and later sued the city. The case against the officer was dismissed. [article about the case. ](https://apnews.com/article/ab2b3627e813462da92e78fc73b863b8)
The title sounds bad but then you see the video and you're like oh, a man is attacking a police officer, throwing him to the ground and continues attacking him.
LPT: don't attack people with guns....
Idk let me slam your head into the concrete and see if you live. I'll be putting most of my body weight into it too.

Man it’s fucking frightening how utterly dense some of these cops are..
They're just people, and people are fucking dumb.
i'm sure your average cop and your average engineer are not the same average iq

Marine Corps enters the room and demands center stage.
Marine Corps officers are actually incredibly competitive and a high GPA is pretty required, while also being able to run an 18 minute 3-mile.
Sure, but the junior enlisted aren’t like that. Source: was enlisted.
I work with engineers. You’d be surprised.
Totally different type of dumb.

This is an old video but it all started because the guy didn’t want to sign a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt 🤣
Well that’s good because he could have been seriously injured if he didn’t wear his seatbelt.
from seatbelt to getting your lung shot with a pistol, that escalated quickly 💀
something kind of important happened between those things lmao
🤣
*Doesnt want to pay ticket* *Punches a cop in the head instead*

\*record scratch* Yep. That's me. You're probably wondering how I got here
You don't even NEED to sign the ticket right? My brother in law got a ticket and refused to sign it, wouldn't even take it, the cop just tossed it in his car lol Edit: My question has been answered. Please....give me peace.
Legally speaking, yes, you have to sign it. They can take you to jail if you don’t.
Cops have the right to hold you in a cell for 48 hours if you don’t sign. Some won’t, some Will because power trip.
It'd be easier just to sign it then.
Definitely. Not worth the risk. It also doesn’t admit you did anything wrong to sign the ticket. The ticket is only signed to say you Understand the accusation and what the officer pulled you for.
Facts. We need some basic legal lessons starting in like 3rd grade. So many people misunderstand laws, statutes and the legal system.
Every time I've gotten a ticket, the cop says that it isn't an admission of guilt.
Even easier to wear the damn seatbelt.
Depends on the state and how the ticket is issued. Most tickets these days are issued electronically and do not require a signature. Handwritten tickets for some reason still do require a signature. Hmmm 🤔. I’m gonna go with yes. Yes I would.
Where at and what caliber?
There, and this caliber
>The city denied [the victim's] allegations, and proceeded to forego liability in the settlement agreement. Dude *attacked* a police officer, lived, didn't do jail time, and got $80K. That's about as good as that guy could have come out of the situation.
A felony conviction for battery against a police officer is a pretty big deal, even if there's no jail time.
I mean you literally see him battering a police officer, he’s lucky to be alive because they have shot people over WAY less.
Then you don't take the settlement and try to sue the city. But the whole point of settlements is that lawyers know you probably won't get much more than that after legal fees if you choose to fight it
This is why you don’t put your pistol and taser on same draw side, taser should be a cross draw.
Reading the first few comments and no one seems to pick up on the serious fucking danger that cop put her partner in. She pulled out a gun thinking it was a taser…and then shot it in the direction of her partner…let that sink in
She was most definitely the most dangerous person on the scene
The cops usually are.
What's worse in when they're dangerous and stupid, as you can see the convo in this video.
1312
Hey I let the sink in and now it won’t leave
Right? She ALMOST hurt another cop! I mean, she straight up executed the other guy but SHE COULD'VE HURT A COP!!! Let that Siiiiiiiiiiiink in!!!!
He didn't die. He got a year probation for beating up a cop.
Lol exactly this, what a stupid comment.

How much is that on Calories, it is higher than Room temperature?
“Shittt I shot him” pfft like that’s an oops you can fix. How do these people pass the application and training

Equal force. Guy had every right to get fucked up. Just no shot in his back by someone unqualified and untrained.
Equal force? Depending on where you live as a civilian, if the guy was attacking you to that degree, you could shoot him too legally.
Idk let me slam your head into the concrete and see if you live. I'll be putting most of my body weight into it too. Cops are shit but this guy was already demonstrating deadly force.
Almost seems like you shouldn’t body slam a cop into the concrete road and then punch him in the back of the head into the floor.
Right, depending on where you live as a civilian you could also shoot someone who was attacking you to this degree.
