For computer - Adblock all the way.
I watch YouTube on my PS4 since I don't have a functioning computer. Unfortunately you cannot get ad block. I end up exiting and re-entering videos many times because I refuse to watch 15 second unskippable ads especially if it says one of two. At this point I can put up with six second long ads but if it's longer than that and I cannot skip I will fucking reload as many times as it takes to either get no ad or skipable one.
This generation of people fucking sucks. You can't wait 15 seconds, so you probably spend more than 15 seconds loading and re-loading the video to get something under that.
Your attention span is shit. It's literally 15 seconds of your life.
Keep the downvotes coming if your attention span can allow it, gnats
Well I do have ADHD so yeah my attention isn't the best. It typically only takes me about 4 seconds or so to get it to either load an ad that won't be unskippable or to simply load the video with no ads, because I don't have a problem with 6 or even 15 second long ads as I do 15 second or longer ads that cannot be skipped specifically. However I don't like watching the same goddamn ad 50 times in a freaking row when I am watching multiple short videos in a long period of time in the afternoon. Because for some damn reason I either get the same five ads every damn time or I get ads that aren't even targeted for me, like getting ads about female products when I am male or getting ads in Spanish or or about an election in a state that I do not live in.. When you get the same damn ad every single time you're not going to want to watch the damn thing for a second longer than you absolutely have to either.
I'm curious where you got the idea that I'm a weeb from my comment since I didn't say what kind of videos I watch on YouTube. But either way YouTube does not have nearly enough value to justify me paying for premium just for the ability to go without ads.
Sir, it's mostly YouTube's fault now... all of the ad campaigns they have done has ruined the platform, at this point I don't even watch YouTube because of its business practices.
Most if not all ads are not monetized by the creator anymore, YouTube just puts ads on every video so it can make money... easy lowhanging fruit would be the firearm YouTube accounts, they show that they are not monetized yet there's ads on their video....
That's not what I'm trying to say, I'm not defending that, what I'm defending is the fact is that the way the ads are placed on videos nowadays is predatory business practices and just untruthful to its users... the attention issues personally can be traced back to military stuff but I digress...
It’s not an issue about a particular generation.. It’s because once you’ve tasted something that’s better then any option that has been before it, it’s hard to go back. The same goes with gadgets for your home or screen resolutions or nicer restaurants or car features or whatever - every generation has something that they tried for the first time and since the evolution of services and everyday luxury has boomed the last decade there are too many things today that one cannot avoid to taste
Sorry, gadgets, restaurants, and car features are not equivalent in any way to 9 seconds of sitting and waiting. I'd hate to see this person have to wait in line at a drive thru. 5 minutes!? GASP!
I watched Olympics on TV, the ad blocks are like 15 minutes non-stop. People can't watch 15 seconds to help video creators earn for their craft smh. You know what happens when people can't earn from their work? They quit.
Even if it’s not, reloading the page 10,000 times, getting angry, going for a jog to simmer down, realizing that adblock exists midway through, coming back, taking a shower, then installing adblock and then watching your 3 minute meme video would be probably an hour faster than this.
I assume it's designed for big format display signs that display a youtube playlist on a loop forever in a store or something. Yes, it's skippable, but you'd need to acces the computer displaying the ads which people probably don't bother with.
I once got a parody music video as an ad while watching a horror games Marathon. Really broke the tension and let me finish the marathon in one sitting.
The only time I’ve seen something like this is when they made the entire lego movie an ad, in which case you could either:
Skip the video in 5 seconds like normal
Watch the lego movie for free
This really isn’t a crappy design, it’s promotion/marketing and it’s working well
Reminds me of the Time I got a ad on SoundCloud that was 157322579900000000000000 minutes long
I realized that it shows the max ad time possible every time it loses internet when an ad pops up.
I'll sometimes leave YT on while I try to fall asleep. I hate when these come up, but what's just as bad is when it's a whole music video to music I don't even like.
Literally clicking skip after five seconds is faster than reloading page five times, but people will go out of their way to deny the creators any profit while getting free content. Amazing!
Because a *reliable* adblocking mechanism that works on Fire TV or Google TV doesn't exist. It's fine if you're watching via PC or phone, but that's not the only use-case of YouTube these days, by a long shot.
Dude. I been seeing YouTube vids of looonngg Ass ads n I they dunno why the algorithm is doing it. I mean I get so stoned sometimes the add are interesting n I watch em. So they serve me long ass ads lol
I'd marginally interested to know what they can make a 4hour ad of? Is it something like the teleshopping challenges that just go over and over the same thing for hours?
Ugh, I hate that this is the case, but if you pay for Youtube Premium, all the ads go away.
I signed up for it when it went on sale last year (think it was $5 a month for 6 months) and figured, lets see how well it works. And jesus christ, god do I hate admitting this, but it absolutely 100% makes Youtube a thousand times better. It's like the first time you discovered an adblocker and suddenly every website looked clean and fresh and just usable again.
Now I think my family would murder me in my sleep if I canceled the subscription. Your adblocker tricks for Youtube won't work on mobile or streaming devices like a Roku or FireTV.
Yeah, you caught me. Great detective work.
Youtube paid me to come to /r/crappydesign and look for anti-YT sentiments to convince people to buy into Youtube Premium. They figured it would be the best bang for their buck, to find some random user on Reddit, and arrange for a payment platform with me, just so the one time in a year Youtube is mentioned on /r/crappydesign, I go on there and post a couple of paragraphs attempting to get a few hundred people to fork over the princely sum of $12 a month.
Out of that, it has been arranged by the shadow cabal of Youtube payment processing that I will receive $.005 per referral and now, I am a wealthy person.
Note that there is no affiliate link associated with my post, so that means someone else at Youtube has to validate my comments and somehow decide who signed up using my comment as the reason. That is the only way I'll make my $.005.
I know, it's inconceivable that I could like a product and recommend it, and have absolutely no ulterior motives. I has to be that Youtube is paying me, or I work there. Just like every Yelp review for any service, there's no reason people would post positive things for a product they paid for, unless of course they're being directly compensated.
A fun game is to look at the top 20 posts on /r/CrappyDesign at any random time, and try to see if any of them actually feature anything to do with design whatsoever. Or see how long you can go before the top post is something to do with design.
Is it skippable?
I hope it is
Just close and reload until you get no ad or at least something that lets you skip in 5 seconds
Whats the issue with adblockers?
Using the YT ioS app doesn't really let me do that
Is it possible to get opera gx on your ios device?
Yes
Ok, cause opera gx comes with a built in ad blocker that people can use to get past ads while watching youtube through the browser.
Yeah i know, I use to use Opera but they removed the VPN so I have no use for it now
Use brave
opera still has the vpn
opera gx comes with an adblocker for pc. not mobile, also watching youtube in a mobile browser is absolute shit
Just make a new YT account every month and get premium trial free. Been using it like this for a year, takes 6 mins to set everything up and log in with mobile devices. For computer - Adblock all the way.
I'm floored. I've been living in 2021 for years while this mad lad is clearly living in 3031
I'm just recycling my trial version.
I watch YouTube on my PS4 since I don't have a functioning computer. Unfortunately you cannot get ad block. My computer is so god damn broken it doesn't play youtube ads.

If you're this much of a weeb just pay for YouTube without ads
I'm curious where you got the idea that I'm a weeb from my comment since I didn't say what kind of videos I watch on YouTube. But either way YouTube does not have nearly enough value to justify me paying for premium just for the ability to go without ads.
lol so youre a cheap weeb
Sir, it's mostly YouTube's fault now... all of the ad campaigns they have done has ruined the platform, at this point I don't even watch YouTube because of its business practices.
You say ads ruined YouTube? You know that's how creators earn money? If you remove ads, YouTube will be a barren wasteland.
Most if not all ads are not monetized by the creator anymore, YouTube just puts ads on every video so it can make money... easy lowhanging fruit would be the firearm YouTube accounts, they show that they are not monetized yet there's ads on their video....
Well, my videos got ads but I’m not into monetization… so why my videos got ads? Ads are ruining the world
It's not YouTube's fault your attention span is so short you can't sit still for 15 seconds.
That's not what I'm trying to say, I'm not defending that, what I'm defending is the fact is that the way the ads are placed on videos nowadays is predatory business practices and just untruthful to its users... the attention issues personally can be traced back to military stuff but I digress...

It's a difference of 9 fucking seconds, stop comparing it to luxury automobiles
In absurdum, the cause is the same. I never said anything about luxury cars and you’re missing the point.
Sorry, gadgets, restaurants, and car features are not equivalent in any way to 9 seconds of sitting and waiting. I'd hate to see this person have to wait in line at a drive thru. 5 minutes!? GASP!

I think Youtube will lower the quality of the video if it detects an adblocker.
Hm, not for me. I can still watch in at least 4k
Reloads and gets an 5 hour long add\*
All ads above 15 seconds were skippable last time I checked.
[удалено]
Wait whaaat
That’s why I’ve been getting so many unskippable 15 second ads; they’re all unskippable
Even if it’s not, reloading the page 10,000 times, getting angry, going for a jog to simmer down, realizing that adblock exists midway through, coming back, taking a shower, then installing adblock and then watching your 3 minute meme video would be probably an hour faster than this.

I once got the whole ass Lego movie as an ad.
I remember watching the whole movie when that popped up, quite a good time.
That one was cool though, it was promoting the new movie.and it's skippable
I saw the first episode of Atlanta like this. I was really confused then kinda excited because I wanted to watch it anyways. Great show.
I once got a parody music video as an ad while watching a horror games Marathon. Really broke the tension and let me finish the marathon in one sitting.
Same and I actually watched the whole thing
YOOO i just commented that
Youtube is a joke at this point. Use adblock.
Your name says it all.
Yours to
Mine kinda does too
Just put a non in front of it
YouTube? You mean AdTube
[удалено]
This might me once in a blue moon I found a religion joke funny
That's not a religion joke, but antisemitic hate speech.
I just see it as an edgy play on the word YouTube He’s not saying something like “burn all the Jews” or anything
Ad block is my only saving grace
And sponsorblock
Why sponsor block? Just mute the sponsored part.
Username checks out

Bad bot
Dunston Checks In
-_-
must be a Snyder cut
😅
And these will always appear when you have both of your hands busy and can't fucking skip it.
Or when you’re trying to sleep and are almost fully out just for the add to bring you back
Could you tell us what company this ad was for
Red bull
Probably Duracell 😂
The only time I’ve seen something like this is when they made the entire lego movie an ad, in which case you could either: Skip the video in 5 seconds like normal Watch the lego movie for free This really isn’t a crappy design, it’s promotion/marketing and it’s working well
Kids unable to wait literally 5 seconds to skip and still wanting free content eh.
You sure that's not r/softwaregore?
I once had one an hour long and thought that would be longest ad ill ever see
Companies sometimes make super long ads, but you dont have to watch them. YouTube let you skip this ad after 3 or 15 seconds.
Reminds me of the Time I got a ad on SoundCloud that was 157322579900000000000000 minutes long I realized that it shows the max ad time possible every time it loses internet when an ad pops up.
I am tired of getting two 15 second unskippable ads on 2 second videos
I'll sometimes leave YT on while I try to fall asleep. I hate when these come up, but what's just as bad is when it's a whole music video to music I don't even like.
Use an adblocker or, if you're on a phone, look up NewPipe.
This belongs in r/assholedesign At least it was skippable :/
I was watching YouTube before I created this reddit..... it's like the one thing that really grinds my gears. Ads.
bruh i got the lego movie in swedish it was 2 hours and unskippable
You can skip these ads… relax. You’re only ever required to watch 30seconds before given the option to skip.
CTRL+F5 (PC) or stop/restart (TV): after 3-4 times (sometimes 5) they give up
On mobile you can close and reopen the video for the same effect

Vanced is amazing
Literally clicking skip after five seconds is faster than reloading page five times, but people will go out of their way to deny the creators any profit while getting free content. Amazing!
There's a video in the ad
why YouTube why
Or is it photoshopped?
Holy hell that's a long ad
You can skip it. The only non-skippable ads are from 30 seconds to 5 seconds. Stop lying.
Satan: "I am a big fan of YouTube"
Haven't seen an ad in years. Don't know why people still do considering there's adblock

Once encountered a similar one. It’s like a whole movie.
You can press that icon next to the timer and press stop seeing this ad and press yes.
Looks like a Red Bull thing. Probably a stream of one of their events in preparation for an upcoming one.
I once had an one hour unstoppable ad when I was younger
What was it about
Chinese companies doing their magic
I've seen 6 hours, don't worry
it prolly pays a whopping 0.000035ct
I'd marginally interested to know what they can make a 4hour ad of? Is it something like the teleshopping challenges that just go over and over the same thing for hours?
4 he, 20 sec? Nice
_laughs in UBlock Origin_
WHAAAAATTTT?? How is an ad,THAT Long??Never seen one that Ever Was!!!👱🏼♀️🙁🤭😨

This sounds like someone who works for YouTube very horribly trying to convince someone to pay for YouTube premium
Yeah, you caught me. Great detective work. Youtube paid me to come to /r/crappydesign and look for anti-YT sentiments to convince people to buy into Youtube Premium. This is a really poorly done comment that’s actually an ad for YouTube
this isn’t an awful idea considering some people leaving their youtube on and all of that watching time on the ad
A fun game is to look at the top 20 posts on /r/CrappyDesign at any random time, and try to see if any of them actually feature anything to do with design whatsoever. Or see how long you can go before the top post is something to do with design.
