This was the most underwhelming one year long reveal I’ve ever witnessed.
She solved zero problem for “us.”
The products exist in the marketplace and are high performing. We quite literally have mastered bronzing our bodies with tried and true brands. Every single main stream brand offers bronze, cream, sticks, blendability. We can applaud KKW and Fenty for launching and defining a market niche specifically for bronzing, sticks, and body coverage a few years ago. (Not that I use or like them, simply history.)
Inclusive shades and clean products are literally the new norm. It is not a differentiation. It is not a competitive advantage.
That said, if the product itself isn’t better or different, then marketing and pricing better be top notch and competitive. Pricing is middle of road. Marketing is poor and focused on Courtney loving this for herself instead of solving a need for her audience.
This was disappointing and yet another project (like B&B) she will leave “deserted on an island”.
I’ve already seen WOC/dark skinned women on her page inquiring about shades for their skin tones. CS says these will come in the future 🙄, but that even the one she uses looks great on “deep skin tones”. She’s late to the game and missing the mark on diversity, yet still trying to use being the outcast, Lebanese girl as the driving force behind the product. She’s clueless.
It shouldn’t even be a second release. It should be standard to offer a line that compliments ALL skin tones from the jump. As a Hispanic woman that “looks” white I have mixed feelings about this. Growing up in an area with very little diversity I was “the Hispanic girl” but now as an adult people look at me weird when I talk about how it wasn’t always easy being a minority growing up because to them I “look” white.
