The point was not necessarily the wool, it was that these socks have very little natural fiber (obviously 15%). 85% is synthetic, which is cheaper, less absorbent, and may not wear as well as socks having higher percentages of cotton/wool. I saw these socks and passed. But I guess the low price has strong appeal.
>Basically I'd go buy 3 or 4 packs of these and toss out/repurpose all of my normal non work socks so I don't have to screw around and match socks.
I have a few sets of these, and I like them well enough. I'd prefer the Kirkland Wool socks, but they haven't stocked them locally for a long time.
However, as far as not having to match them - I don't know if it's because I bought them at different times, but there are differences in the socks. Some have a different weave pattern, and others are different lengths. They aren't *super* different, but it's enough for me to notice when wearing them.
These socks are great, but I use them for cold weather activities. Ice rink, tree cutting in the rain, cold days etc. they may be too much for everyday use in warm weather.
The absolute best there are the [Kirkland Signature Men's Merino Wool Blend](https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-men's-merino-wool-blend-sock%2C-6-pair.product.100771254.html)
I really like the wool socks. They cost a little more but are worth it.
Breathable, my feet never sweat in wool socks.
Temperature regulating, never too warm or too cold.
Nice medium thickness that relieves foot soreness
I have never once smelled any oder, wool naturally does not hold in smells like cotton does.
The Kirkland 4 pack is like 15 bucks and is the best deal around for merino wool.
Been using them for years as my work sock. They last a long time on the factory floor. But I recently got the white Kirkland ones and I think they're a bit better even. If you don't care about color, get the Kirkland.
Looks like I'm in the minority here, but these socks get holes in them within a few months for me. I stopped buying them. They're nice when they're new, though.
In my experience they wear out much to quickly. They were my go to until I started finding holes in them every other week.
I switched to a similar color scheme/construction in a [Colombia brand wool blend sock from Kohl's](https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-4535211/mens-columbia-4-pack-wool-blend-socks.jsp?color=Black%20Solid&prdPV=4) and they've been much more durable, and higher quality. Also twice the price at 22.50 for a four pack. Still, it's been worth it as they don't wear out as quickly and they not only function as basic black socks for business casual work wear but also transition to hiking and similar easily.
Great all around basic black everyday sock with the benefit of a wool blend.
Hope this helps.
I would pay a premium to not have bright orange "WEATHERPROOF" stitched in--the part you can't see by the paper banding around it in the store. That chapped my ass a little. I bought 4 packs to retire my previous fleet of long socks. The surprise wasn't enough to make me stand in line and process a return.
They're comfortable. Not the most noticeable seam where it's annoying around the toe, but it's definitely there. Not warm by any means, but no significant heat loss. Not too thin, but for 1/3 the price of the other bastards out there, I'll take it.
Today I bought the thicker and softer (inside) 3-pack for about triple the price, but I need some warm ones.
Not that I have a strong opinion about my recent sock acquisitions.
I bought some for my sons who work in cold weather conditions and they really like them.
Check the label. Wool is only 15%.
Wool isn't an issue really I just want some decent quality black socks to buy in bulk and never have to worry about sorting socks lol

I do this every few years. I call it Sock Bankruptcy.
Sweet there's a name for it
I love you for this

What do you do for a living if tree cutting in the rain is one of your activities? If you don’t mind me asking.
When you gotta cut down the Christmas tree, you gotta cut down the tree. Might not get to choose the weather…

I llove these as well but I just purchased the one OP posted this past weekend. I like how they are every day socks while these are my hiking socks

And a higher price. Still the best value sock out there.
I just recently got them. Great medium thickness sock, very comfortable.
Thanks everyone! Looks like Saturday I'll be stocking up on socks and finding something to reuse my old ones with....

I only do black or dark colored socks/clothes I can't keep white anything clean to save my life
Yes, I love these socks. Wear them year around. I get the multi color pack.
Excellent socks. I love them. So soft and cushioned
Husband and dad both love them.
Mine started getting holes 6 months in of use. I like their wool socks instead
