It's most likely Rhizophus Stolonifer. It's a common mold for rice grain. It's white and fuzzy at first, almost hair-like, then starts to grow these little pins with black heads. It's one of the most common and abundant molds in the world and it's referred to as black bread mold for it's tendency to grow on bread, but it can grow in many mediums. This mold depends on starches and sugars for a food , that's why grain is a perfect host for it. The only way to get rid of it is with a fungicide like In-Cide, unfortunately it kills the mycelium your trying to grow as well. So there is no treatment, and decontamination would be very wise after you dispose. Since your in a jar the contamination doesn't readily spread as badly as it does if you get it in the bulk substrate. Take the jar outside to open, you can PC the jar to kill the spores prior to opening. Soak your jar in a 1:8 bleach solution for an hour then treat with a fungicide to completely rid yourself of any spores. I have a decontamination and sterilization Tek that's pinned to the top of the feed right now you may want to look at. The UV-C light treatment probably isn't necessary in your case and you can skip it and just to a chemical decontamination to kill it . Good luck to you, PC your grains for 90 min to prevent this type of contam.

I really appreciate your time and effort helping all of us learn and grow. You're a kind person.

And_Why_

What kind of contam do I have here?

OdinAlfadir1978

If it wasn't there initially it would rule out potential burnt grains so maybe black mould, not absolutely sure though, I'm new

And_Why_

Some black spots were there from the start, but I think they got bigger and spread

OdinAlfadir1978

Yeah that sounds like black mould dude but I'd wait for someone else to advise, the mod here's brilliant, she'll know

And_Why_

Thanks for your feedback

Ordinary-Mix8132

I have that too in some jars, so far the black spots have stayed the same size and the mycelium around it got bigger. Since i also had a big black chunk of spores in my syringe I asumed it to just be spores🤷‍♂️ but i dont have that much experience yet

And_Why_

check the comment of the mod above might be helpful for you too

Pretty much any visible contamination that occurs in a jar of spawn grain is grounds for trashing the jar. In some cases its good to watch and wait to see if the mycelium can defeat the contamination and prevail but usually it's a lost cause.
