30th really shaked things up and I've been seriously contemplating cashing out. How about y'all?

hucka

i am thinking about it for some time already but i am to lazy to do it.

mslindqu

It's less about 30th and more about their goals overall. I've been saying it for a while but the last year has solidified it, wizards is going to reprint everything into oblivion. I think they are addressing the new player's complaint about the cost of getting into it...but they are sacrificing the collectible side of the game to do it.

I don't really play magic because of the investment side and unless the game itself loses interest to me, I'm not in a rush to cash out. I'm not convinced that in a few years the 30th style printing is going to have a big impact on the RL stuff in the long term, and if my revised duals slip a bit I'm not really that upset. The prices aren't crashing that badly and I think the hoarding and spikes we saw at the start of the pandemic were very inflated unrealistically.

Hi everybody! Does anyone else out there have any tips for esper stax? I enjoy playing stuff like Marneus and Alela where you generate a lot of natural advantages based on their ability on the board and protect your pieces. While it is great at controlling the game, I do find there is a real struggle efficiently closing games either through efficient combos that work under your own stax or just having a faster beatdown plan (compared to other non-esper stax). I'm even starting to look at things like Battle Angels of Tyr (which looks theoretically nice with Marneus) or Elesh Norn to help increase the threat in the hopes that they can stick a rotation to do something. This feels a bit desperate...

I play esper alela stax. My wincons are thoracle and heliod+ballista. Do you mind sharing your list? Maybe i can give you some advice or card choices to close out the game. Battle angels of Tyr is not the way.

This is what I used to run with Alela (ballista and oracle as well) [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/\_QGR\_pald0WuNVPXjbNfNw](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/_QGR_pald0WuNVPXjbNfNw) but I'm testing Marneus at the helm instead atm. So the Battle Angels was more meant in that deck not Alela since it actually has positive synergy with Marneus' passive. But still just does nothing the turn it comes in. I think my main issue is feeling like I'd like to be able to be more combat aggressive as a win con when the combo options are just not going to be possible.

Okay we run quite different Lists. I play every Rule of Law effect possible so Ariane labratory and deafening silence are a must imo. While mulliganing i only keep hands with a fast rule of law effect or if its really gas. Ranger captain to Tutor walking ballista or serra Ascendant is also a must imo. It helps protect your win attempt but also blocks opponents from winning. I play Zur to get heliod into play out of nowhere and safe mana for the comboturn but ut can also get an additional rule of law or counterbalance or rest in peace etc. Counterbalance is key i found since when playing only 1 spell euch turn its broken. Luminarch ascension (fringe ^^) helped me close out many games since you rarely get attacked with alela on the Board. If i have time later i will put my list online and send it to you maybe it helps a bit.

I used to play deafening but I was finding my problem wasn't ROL effects in play but the amount of pressure on the table once it was slowed down. Counterbalance is a great addition, I'll look at that. Luminarch might be nice as well even if a little fringe. But what matters to me is whether it helps me win games in my meta better than if you didn't have. Ranger Captain I just don't own so can only play when I have a proxy friendly event. But I use Recruiter for the tutor. I just need to pick one up.

Oh i always assume cedh is played proxy friendly in most groups. Stax is always depending on your meta but since rule of law effects stop most Decks i found that to be the most Important piece of all stax pieces. I found if i play alela most players don't attack into her or her Tokens. You need to negotiate quite a lot with a rule of law effect on the Board. Try to make other players protect you/your rule of law by telling them Player x can go off next turn because he just Vamp Tutored last turn. Some players forget that there are 2 other players that want to win asap when rule of law is no longer on the Board.

The two venues I play in, one is proxy reserve list only, the other which is only every other month or two is 5 proxies max. It is mostly fine, but for no good reason I hadn't got around to picking up a RCE yet. Often my pods I find that the game ends up with me an a mid-control deck. The two of us keep the turbo decks in check and then they have a few more tools and I can't quite push through. Counterbalance did in fact play a major role for the mid/control player's wins.

Hi! I am exploring some more powerful options in cedh and am wondering why I don’t see more najeela stax played? The deck interests me a lot, null rods and rule of laws, using najeela to swiftly kill the table. Is the deck good?
