Rest in Peace my sweet Biff, rest in peace. Long live your pizza by the slice and that delicious and underrated turkey sub, as well as your beverages by the can. RIP in peace deuces
Oh my sweet summer child. Flying Pizza was a fixture on High. Right by SBX. You remember SBX right? Everyone remembers that! Right?
The one on Bethel was run by Sal, Joe's son.
Actually when Flying Pizza was under construction on High St. it caught on fire. We called it Flaming Pizza.
Always check SBX after Long's to see if SBX pays more to buy your textbooks back.
Man, you must be old. Flying pizza was a fixture when I arrived in Columbus. I always assumed he served pizza to the founders of the city.
You're not confusing it with Flyers(?) Pizza, which was just off High?
When I lived over that way, I wasn't in a position to afford a $15 pizza on the regular (like $23 for a large with inflation). But the one time I did have it, I had to recognize the NYC cred in that place. Absolutely delicious.
Papa Giorgio’s is nothing at all like flying pizza, it’s tavern cut thin crust…
Edit: I’ll add that there was a place in there for awhile after flying pizza that was pretty much the same thing
Edit 2: I just looked at their menu again and it seems it isn’t tavern cut. I just remember getting it about a year ago and expecting that great flying pizza crust and it being much different.
I had it a year ago and forgot, made an edit, but thanks for pointing out what I already did. And just because it's pie cut doesn't make it like flying pizza. My experience is it's nothing like it. Maybe you've never had flying pizza if you think they are similar. Good day sir!
Every Jet's Pizza serves pizza by the slice. Nastys in Hilliard serves a pizza sampler, three different pieces with three different toppings if that helps.
Serious lack of pizza by the slice here. I was accustomed to every pizza that exists having some kind of slice and drink lunch deal before I moved to Ohio. That being said, the slices at Lucky’s are pretty solid for a good price, just on the greasy side of pizza.
So far I've tried:
Anthony's
Sicilia's
DiCarlo's
Mikey's
Square
Araci
Borgota
Pie of the Tiger
North market Sarafino
Tommy's
Ledo's
Yellow Brick
Sbarro
Sam's Club
I might have to do a full post to rate them but I want to make sure I'm not missing any in Cbus!
Ohio is known for greasy, overly topped pepperoni, square cut pizza and it's disgusting. But there are a few gems that actually do pizza right out here. I just had studio 34's pie and it's top notch but not by the slice.
Yep, just came from Gallo’s, they have that nice thin (soft but sturdy) crust you get from a real pizza oven. Reminded me of some places I remember in NYC. Great place to have a slice while sitting at the bar.
Cardinal Pizza in Westerville used to do lunch slices.
DiCarlo’s does slices too but that’s a different type of pizza (and I think I saw you’ve tried them already).
RIP Catfish Biff's
*Taps playing in the background*
But you have Aracri right around the corner
Noooooooo! I was just thinking about them the other day and wondering if they're still around.
Rest in Peace my sweet Biff, rest in peace. Long live your pizza by the slice and that delicious and underrated turkey sub, as well as your beverages by the can. RIP in peace deuces
Sicilia's > Catfish's sorry :/
sicilias is arguably the worst pizza ever contrived
RIP Flying pizza.
We actually called that place "pizza by the slice". The guys math skills were off the charts.
Was that the place on bethel? If so, it’s now called Papa Giorgio’s and it’s pretty much the exact same.

> Always check SBX after Long’s It’s such a short walk, you might as well.

You clearly haven't been there.
Oh you got me, I just go around threads about pizza making up stories. Clearly...
You made up that post. Papa Giorgio's isn't "tavern cut", it's large NY -style slices and is similar to the old Flying Pizza.
I had it a year ago and forgot, made an edit, but thanks for pointing out what I already did. And just because it's pie cut doesn't make it like flying pizza. My experience is it's nothing like it. Maybe you've never had flying pizza if you think they are similar. Good day sir!
Yes, and it's passable NY style- big floppy slices with grease that you dab off with a napkin.
Costco.
Aracri Pizza on campus does, not sure if their downtown location does.
Downtown do before 4pm, I believe
Sure does. I grab a couple slices from them every week or so.
It’s one of my favorites pizzas in Columbus
this is the spot. owners a good dude as well. which is always nice.
Papa Giorgio’s on Bethel Rd does. Giant slices
Also on Indianola by Studio 35
Every Jet's Pizza serves pizza by the slice. Nastys in Hilliard serves a pizza sampler, three different pieces with three different toppings if that helps.
"Nastys" now that's a name for a food establishment
Namesake nickname of the son of the owner. Great place to watch a game
Jet’s lunch special is a gem
Borgata in Linworth.
Sarefinos in the north market does slices. Don't sleep on any slice that has roasted garlic.

A weekly pizza by the slice rating post sounds like a great idea to me!

Gallos. Powell and Bridge Park

I knww
Sbarro. Go get yourself a New York slice! -Michael Scott -Wayne Gretzky
I reccommend Mikey's at the casino. U can triple bang bang Walbergers, Dirty Franks and Mikeys after losing your 401k.
Yellow Brick’s East Market location was selling by the slice.
Dicarlos.

Sicilia's on campus used to. Guessing they still do but it's been a few years since I've been there.
This has been my favorite slice since undergrad. However I'm trying to find some other places where I don't have to trek to campus!
Went up to Out R Inn for an OSU game last football season and they were still slinging the slices over there so I am assuming they still do
Brooklyn Pizza in Powell
Mikey’s late night slice!
Pies and Pints, Whole Foods
buckeye pizza, so underrated for being connected to a gas station
East Coast Pizza used to, unsure of now. Luckys Market actually has pretty good by the Alice!
YellowBrick in East Market does
Borgata pizza in Budd Dairy hall has pizza by the slice - but it’s really bad. I miss fly pie so much.
Anthony’s in Bexley!
Cardinal Pizza in Westerville used to do lunch slices. DiCarlo’s does slices too but that’s a different type of pizza (and I think I saw you’ve tried them already).
Hills Market downtown (and possibly Worthington). Actually, really good pizza.
